Essentially every character is ill tempered, moody, and rude. The main character is dealing with some paranoia, a lot self esteem and self doubt because she killed a serial killer who killed her mother, mentor, and ex boyfriend. Though her current emotional state maybe justified by shock of what she recently experienced I still find it annoying. There is so much repetition - from previous plots to characters literally rephrasing statements from chapter to chapter. This series was once a palette cleanser between other books but now it’s nearing a torture read. I keep coming back hoping that Blake will rebound with something refreshing and exciting but lately it’s been more of the same. The prologue caught my attention enough to make me want to read the next book in the series.
After so many years on the force, FBI Special Agent Adele Sharp is pretty sure she’s seen it all—until bodies begin to appear, shipped in crates to Europe’s elite auction houses. With billionaires’ antiques compromised, and the case in the media’s crosshairs, the pressure couldn’t be higher.
Who is the killer? Why are they shipping these bodies? And can Adele stop them before he strikes again?
Adele is partnered with her least-favorite agent, to find a killer who's been stuffing bodies into newly-purchased antique furniture. Through it all, Adele struggles with a secret regret.
Adele is remorseful for actions taken against a murderer and that might be having an effect on her performance. On the other hand, her relationship with John is growing as well as that with his daughter. She feels she belongs. In Left to Crave she has to work with her nemesis, agent Paige. They follow all leads that might single out who is the killer going after those who buy certain antiques at auction houses throughout Europe. This mission has special significance as one of the victims is a cousin to the agents' boss. Paige believes Adele should not be working on the case, as she feels she is withdrawn and with difficulty in concentrating. Will they be able to solve this difficult case? Is Adele really losing her way to solve crimes? This book could be rated with 5 stars, I did not do so because there's too much repetition by Adele's character on her motives to be subdued and lacking concentration in the case. As a member of the author's ARC team, I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
After being on "paid" leave for the investigation of her role in the Painter's death, Adele Sharp returns to work with Agent Sophia Paige in the lead. They begin investigating strange murders of wealthy people who are stuffed into the large items they bought at antique auctions. This takes many different turns trying to find the culprit who commits these crimes. Adele is still dealing with her feelings about the Painter's death all through this new case. This book keeps you guessing until the end of the case and then waiting for the next book to come out so you can find out what happens next!
Adele enjoying being with John and his daughter. Away from a blizzard case she now has. Why would someone send bodies to auction houses. The people were wealthy patrons at these places. Fast action as we try to piece what is going on. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Agents Sharp and Paige have mutual dislike in their relationship, but they are assigned the same case. Sharp is haunted by her actions in the garden in book 12. The journey isn't over yet.
I have enjoyed the Adele Sharp series as there are always plenty of twists and turns. This installment has Adele struggling with her choices of recent past events. I am looking forward to the next book.
I don't even know why I'm still reading these LOL. The writing is bad, the characters are all insufferable, and Blake I'm begging you to choose a new plotline it is painstakingly predictable
