Sofia Buck fled Hampton Beach a decade ago, never looking back until her father’s untimely death forces her to return for the summer to deal with the family business. Her one goal: sell Buck’s Landing, so she can move on with her life.
Silas Wilde believes in serendipity, especially when it brings an irresistible woman into his life. He’s certain they belong together, and sets out to convince Sofia to give him—and Hampton—a chance at forever.
Rediscovering the magic of her hometown with Silas tempts Sofia with a future she never imagined, if only she can let go of the past that waits around every corner.
Cameron D. Garriepy attended a small Vermont college in a town very like Thornton. She's missed it since the day she packed up her Subaru and drove off into the real world. Some might say she created the fictional village as wish fulfillment, and they would be correct.
She is the author of the Thornton Vermont series, and the founder of Bannerwing Books, a co-op of independent authors. Prior to Bannerwing, Cameron was an editor at Write on Edge, where she curated three volumes of the online writing group's literary anthology, Precipice. Cameron appeared in the inaugural cast of Listen to Your Mother - Boston, and irregularly contributed flash fiction to the Word Count Podcast.
Since her time at Middlebury College, Cameron has worked as a nanny, a pastry cook, an event ticket resale specialist, an office manager, and a content writer. In her spare time, she cooks, gardens, knits, reads avidly, and researches hobby farming. She writes from the greater Boston area, where she lives with her husband, son, a pug puppy, and four hens.
Buck’s Landing is one of those classic romances with the guy meeting the girl, attraction blossoming, and then personal issues threatening to pull them apart. Sofia Buck returns to her childhood home to deal with family matters after her father unexpectedly dies. Due to her personal relationship and issues with her father she has no intention to remain in Hampton’s Beach longer than the summer. Her goal is to sell off the family business and move into a new chapter of her life, one that includes a potential job promotion located in the Greek Isles.
Sofia keeps herself closed off from most people she knows. She refuses to allow herself to be open to a committed relationship due to the heartbreak she saw when her mother died and her father spiraled into alcoholism. She is a self-sufficient, career oriented woman who intends to stay that way.
When Sofia meets Silas she resists his flirtations. She has no interest in a relationship. But their attraction proves to be too strong and she succumbs to a “summer romance”. No long term intentions, just some fun.
Silas was in the same position as Sofia: career oriented, no need for a long term relationship. But he becomes burned out and ends up at Hampton’s Beach. On impulse he purchases a gift shop and market and begins his new life. As he pursues Sofia he doesn’t fully understand she doesn’t intend to stay. For him, Hampton’s Beach has given him happiness and fulfillment for the first time in his life. He tries to make Sofia see that while her father made some mistakes, he was trying to rectify them and recognized how much he’d damaged his relationship with his daughter. At first Sofia refuses to accept this revelation but eventually considers perhaps her father had changed.
I enjoyed the pacing of this story and crisp writing. Cam has the ability to paint a picture with her descriptions and to craft characters that are realistic. I also liked that she limited the sex scenes to being “implied” not graphic. Sometimes you want to leave things to the imagination. I was bothered by how quickly Sofia first “confides” in Silas about her personal issues with her father. It felt a little quick for their relationship plus she still considered Silas a brief summer fling.
If you enjoy romance with likeable characters, this story ticks all the boxes.
Buck's Landing is a short romance featuring Sofia and Silas. Sofia has come back home to Buck's Landing to fix and sell her father's business. The place holds a lot of sad memories for her and she is anxious to move on. Silas is the new business owner next door who will do what ever it takes to keep Sofia in his life.
I did ultimately enjoy this one. This is definitely a steamy romance. The two had good chemistry and I did like how their relationship progressed over the summer. Sofia was a little frustrating though. She was not completely upfront with Silas. I felt like she lead him on a little. I did find myself rooting for her though. Silas was just a gem of a guy and was someone any girl would want to be with.
The audio production was really good. My only complaint was that the narrator used a very New Jersey sounding voice for one of the characters who was born and raised in New Hampshire. The two accents aren't even close. But that is just a nitpicky thing on my part. I do recommend this romance, especially in the audio version.
Set in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire Buck’s Landing is an impeccable romance, perfect for tucking into your beach bag - even if your beach bag is actually an over-sized purse and your only free reading time happens late on a chilly Michigan evening.
Garriepy brings Hampton Beach to life with her attention to detail and obvious appreciation for the beauty of the sleepy little town Sofia Buck works so hard to shake from her enviable brunette curls. She makes you yearn to walk along the boardwalk, inhale a serving of Blink’s Fry Doe (with powdered sugar and cinnamon), and sink into the moonlit sand to watch Chinese lanterns or turn loose your thoughts to the crashing waves of the Atlantic. In her hands, Hampton Beach is more than a setting; it’s a crucial third main character.
Romance is not usually my book genre of choice, but having read previous works by Ms. Garriepy - and enjoyed them - I figured I would give it a try. (She also writes a mean blog, by the way; and I use 'mean' in a good sense.)
I am pleased to report, "Buck's Landing" does exactly what it says on the tin.
It is a frothy and engaging romance, populated with empathetic characters, and very much permeated with a 'feel good' factor. Ms. Garriepy's narrative style is unfussy and the storyline unfolds smoothly and organically.
If you need to escape for a few hours into a very human love story without gimmicks or artifice, pick up a copy of this book.
I'm not typically a reader of romance, but I loved Buck's Landing. I flew through the pages and savored the well-drawn characters and the heat between them. It's been a while since I picked up a book and just loved everyone there. I didn't want to see it end.
Buck's Landing is a great read for anyone who's ever been in love and for those who want to experience the flame of new love all over again.
I know, I know. I give three stars to everything. I hate starring reviews. Let's just say that I enjoyed this book. It's a romance, so out of my element, but the characters were well-written and the relationship between the two protagonists was HOT. I liked how the narration switched between her view and his - gave the story more depth than if we'd only seen one side.
Cameron D. Garriepy did a good job of conveying the feeling of living in a tourist ocean side town. Sofia and Silas had a cute first meet an instant attraction, though Sofia was fighting it. It was satisfying to see Sofia open up and let Silas and old friends back into her life. Sofia's road to healing and accepting love was very heartfelt. I thought the journey to their HEA had some very romantic moments which I enjoyed. This was a gun quick read. I received a copy of this book from Booksprout.
The temperature outside is in the single digits so I was looking for something that would remind me of summer and this was perfect. As with other books written by Cameron Garriepy I fell in love with the characters, they made me laugh and at times frustrated me with their stubbornness. Living in New England I could vividly picture Hampton Beach however this was written in such a way anyone could relate it to their beloved beach town.
What a well written book the characters in this book are so well developed that you can't help but get involved with their lives
This is a basically a story of letting go of the past so that you can build a future something that every one has to deal with at some time the description of the town and coast adds immensely to this tale you could almost feel the sea breeze
I was given an ARC copy of this book but this is a true and honest review
The book is sweet and charming read. The book is well written. The book is about finding out what is important in someones life and the overcoming things from your past. Also learning that the past can not control you.

This book was about a woman who must confront her past before being able to embrace her future. The story was delightful and charming, and I enjoyed it. It was a sweet romance and I recommend it to others who enjoy this genre. Amy Jo Steele's narration was great and added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

A fun romantic tale set in Hampton Beach, NH. As is often the case with Garriepy, I’m left wanting to know more about the characters and what’s next for them. She has a great way of connecting you with them immediately.

Sophia inherits Buck's Landing from her estranged father and she can't wait to sell it and go back to her event planner job in D.C. Then she rescues a kitten named Houdini and ends up falling for his owner Silas. Cute summer romance with plenty of light funny moments.
This is my first book by this author. I enjoyed this sweet romance story. It was a good start to the series and I hope to read book two. I recommend it to all. I received it in exchange for a voluntary review.
It is a sweet love story that is set in tourist oceanside town. Characters are likable, entertaining storyline, and it is written well. I liked reading this book.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I am mostly a paranormal/fantasy reader. But here lately, I've been venturing out of my box, reading some wonderful stories in different genres, and meeting some great authors along the way. Buck's Landing is another one of those books that I've gotten the pleasure of reading outside my paranormal box.
Buck's Landing is a romance novel that is HOT! If you are into Romance stories, Buck's Landing is the story for you. Garriepy has a wonderful writing style with so much depth and description you get captured into the story. The characters are well described, enjoyable, and fun. Not only do you fall for the book, but once you're done, a trip to the beach seems like a must.
Synopsis:
Sofia Buck escaped Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, ten years ago with no intention of returning, but her father’s untimely death forces her to come back for the summer to deal with Buck’s Landing, the family business he left behind. Sofia has one goal, to keep the business running until it’s sold. What she doesn’t count on is falling in love.
Silas Wilde walked away from an unsatisfying legal career in Manhattan. Relying on instinct and serendipity, he finds himself running a seaside market and gift shop on Hampton Beach’s Ocean Boulevard. He’s content in his new life and livelihood, until a chance encounter with his new next-door neighbor awakens him to the one thing he’s missing. Her.
Threatened by Sofia and Silas's very different dreams, can their love survive the summer's end?
Buck's Landing is Cameron D. Garriepy's debut romance, and the first in the New England Seacoast Romance series; an homage not only to Ms. Garriepy's New England roots, but to the romance authors whose work she grew up devouring
Buck's Landing was short summer romance where two individuals cross paths and begin a scorching love affair.
Sofia is a very strong willed and independent woman. She left her only home behind and created a new life away from her hurtful past. She was forced to return and face the ghosts of her past. In dealing with those, she found love where she never thought she would, the one place where love left her a long time ago. She is definitely one feisty character. Silas is the perfect match for her as he is her cooling water, just like the ocean.
Silas was the perfect man. He definitely was created to be the man in every woman's dream. He's had a great yet exhausting career. He makes a risky move that pays off for him in the end. Silas knows exactly what he wants and he goes after it.
I enjoyed the story though by the end of it, I was wishing it was longer. I wanted to know more about the budding romance between Sofia and Silas. I wanted to know more about her parents. This is a story that you can read in one sitting and enjoy the love that endured between two individuals who were seeking different things in life. All in all, it was a good story. I could certainly see Cameron writing beautiful love stories about the coastal life.
Do I recommend this book? I do, if you are looking for something quick to read that will leave you smiling in end and in love.
Garriepy is a good writer, whose style reminds me of F.Scott Fitzgerald. If upper class romance keeps you in the pages, Buck's Landing will hold your attention from start to finish.
Fantastic summer read that had me wanting to take a long walk on the beach with fried dough in one hand and the other held in the grip of a summer romance.
Another fantastic book from Cameron. She keeps getting better with every book. The ability to keep the storyline engaging without losing the interest of the read is something rare
