About the author

Tomie dePaola (pronounced Tommy da-POW-la) was best known for his books for children.

He had a five-decade writing and illustrating career during which he published more than 270 books, including 26 Fairmount Avenue, Strega Nona, and Meet the Barkers.

Tomie dePaola and his work have been recognized with the Caldecott Honor Award, the Newbery Honor Award, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, and the New Hampshire Governor's Arts Award of Living Treasure.

We love this book! DePaola's medieval-style illustrations are reverent, vibrant, and beautiful. The miracles are separated, which makes for perfect bedtime reading, even for a squirmy baby. Our family will be enjoying this book for a long time.

Who can not go past reading a Tomie dePaola children’s picture book, especially ones that tells a story about Jesus. There so simply, but the pictures bring the narratives alive, even for adults.

I love Tomie dePaola books, but I was unaware of his religious books. So, I made another trip to the library (which has been weekly) to find this book. This is a great book to have in your at-home library. It is accurate and done tastefully with beautiful illustrations (as alway's with Tomie dePaola books). I think this book would be a great one to introduce to young children at home and would open up to many discussions about Jesus and what he's done for us. When I have children, I'm definitely going to get this book

Emma and I enjoyed reading this book together. It retells and illustrates twelve miracles from Jesus' ministry. Reading it with another person allows space for discussion about one's favorite miracle stories. Emma especially loves the stories of The Paralyzed Man and Jesus Heals the Lepers. I especially love the story of The Daughter of Jairus.
