LET’S TALK ABOUT SEX Naoko Tsuji, an unorthodox health teacher at an all-girls school, doubts whether the sex ed status quo truly teaches young people everything they need to know-so she ramps it up to 120%! Luckily for Tsuji, her class proves to be an almost unflappable group, including a BL fan, a lesbian, and a girl who just really likes her cat! This was great! I learned more about sex ed in this manga than I did in all my time at school...sad or what?

This is a pretty educational manga about different things such as masturbation, having sex, or even learning odd facts about animals and their sexual parts. With some jokes thrown in by a great cast of characters consisting of a very honest teacher, a BL lover (Boy X Boy), an Asexual character, and a lesbian, you have a lot of different viewpoints but it all works in a positive way to focus on sex ed and it's great.

I loved all the stories here and I felt like I was learning while reading. Especially funny moments about animals and their many penises or vaginas. I also really enjoyed the art, very easy going and super cute at moments. I love the author didn't sexualize ANYONE even doing sex situations and it all felt very natural.

Overall, fantastic little manga. I can't wait for me.

This book is a GEM 💎 full of wholesome content 💖

While given the "Mature" stamp I would say older teen would have been more appropriate.

This manga is incredibly pure, your characters are students at an all girls school who are lucky enough to have an incredibly caring teacher. Throughout their studies in health she covers what's not in the text book, including safe sex practices, how to approach sex, how to be proud of your growing body, and more. There is no nudity and the characters are not hypersexualized which I felt was amazing.

This really was a great read and I hope older teens and young adults pick it up and maybe learn something as many teens miss out on a proper sex education. The book characters range from same sex, sexually active, inactive, and not yet interested and it makes sure to solidify the idea that all of these are more than okay.

Tsuji is in charge of a health class at her school, but she takes umbridge with the paucity of sex ed being taught. With three very distinct students and one beleaguered nurse in tow, it’s time for the birds and the bees and maybe a sugar glider for good measure.

Let’s get the dumb part out of the way - explicit content, my ass. This book is positively tame minus some animal genitals and one very brief (and very obscured) instance of oral sex. I feel like slapping it with that label distracts from how amazing and informative this book is. It’s a better teacher than a lot of textbooks on the subject.

Gag manga about sex? I mean, that’s been done. Gag manga about the woefully inadequate sex education in most classrooms? Now we’re talking. This book shows that you can tackle a touchy subject with grace and aplomb while still being hilarious and charming.

Tsuji is an amazing teacher with a take-no-prisoners approach to making sure her classes know about sex, possibly to a degree that is charitably overzealous, but she’s passionate and, as we see, she means well. That doesn’t mean she isn’t driving her coworkers, particularly Nakazawa, insane, but good luck stopping her.

Her students are made up of stealth lesbian Moriya (and her canny partner Sumire), boys love fanatic Matsuda, and the cat-loving Kashiwacchi who I am praying becomes the first main asexual character in a manga (it’s practically stated in this volume, but I want more here...). They’re all distinct, strong characters, and make excellent foils for comedy.

This book is absolutely fearless and it not only needs to be, but it’s annoying that it needs to be. Sexual education is a ridiculously sensitive topic and I don’t think it’s advanced all that much since I was in school, if this is any indication. So kudos for handling this with such wit and energy (I will even forgive that one pun).

The girls make a fun unit who bond over Tsuji’s classes and we learn a ton about dental dams, masturbation, body image, coming out, animal genitalia, and even love hotels. I love the quietly developing relationship between Tsuji and Nakamura, whatever form it ends up in.

This is a book that, yes, happens to have yuri in it, but I think that is absolutely secondary to everything else. It would be a fantastic book even with just the jokes and the educational bits, but having a little extra heart is nice. Everything here is balanced pretty much perfectly - never too info-dumpy, just enough personal stuff, solid comedy.

Big props to the art, which does a lot of great work here. Tsuji especially feels like that real teacher you had who was always a little too keen for her work and went just a bit too far. I love how her hoodie appears to be made from the same material as Felix the Cat’s magic bag and the one shot where she wears the dental dam (not what you’re thinking) feels like such a true-to-life expression of exasperation.

5 stars. This is the best edutainment blend I have ever read - it’s funny as hell and educational at the same time, dealing with topics that are still barely addressed, yet should be. Loved it to pieces and there will not be a better release this week, I guarantee it.

Where was this book when I was in school?

Sex Ed 120% is, hands down, one of the absolute best sex ed books I've read, both because it covers topics not usually covered (LGBTQIA+ relationships, dental dams, body image and hair), but also because it acknowledges that need and why it's relevant. It also raises important points about the myth that women don't masturbate, how odd it is that women feel shame at looking at their own genitals but not in showing them to a sexual partner, and even begins to acknowledge that asexual people exist and are valid - when one girl says she's not interested in and doesn't understand romance (meaning sex as well), she asks her friends if they're going to tell her that she's just a late bloomer or hasn't met the right guy yet. Her lesbian friend (whose coming out scene is also beautifully handled) says that even if people ask her if she's going to date guys it won't change who she is. It's a great moment.

My one gripe here is that Yen Press has slapped this with an "explicit content" label. That just restigmatizes what the book is trying to destigmatize and won't ensure that the people who need it will have access.

Come on, people.

Wow. Jak nenásilně, vtipně a normálně podat informace ohledně sexu.
Za mě je tohle krok správným směrem. A rozhodně bych to v našich končinách doporučila lidičkám 15+.

This manga does a tremendous job of balancing actual sex ed with story, character, heart, and humor. It includes a conflict between the health teacher and school nurse that gives both liberal and conservative readers a character they can see themselves in. The school nurse is worried the health teacher is going too far, and the health teacher knows the kids need more information than they had been getting and is super passionate about it. Both want to do right by the students, and I appreciated how their relationship evolves.

I understand the Mature rating to avoid claims they are selling something openly sexual to teens, but, in my mind, this is relatively tame stuff. However, it could be a fun discussion book with your teen child if they enjoy manga and you think they are ready for it.

This was a fun and informational sex education manga - I enjoy the teacher's enthusiasm so much. The characters are adorable and relatable as well, with one lesbian, one girl who loves BL, and one potentially aromantic/asexual girl. Only thing I will note is that there is a chapter where discussion is placed on animal genitalia; in a book about human sexuality, it surprised me, so I wanted to make sure to warn others just in case.

This gets five stars purely for the amount of relevant, important, and blunt information about sex ed. As someone who got the most basic sex education when I was in middle school/ high school, having a manga like this would have been a godsend. Not only does it contain factual information regarding sex, but it includes sex ed for LGBTQ+ characters, pushes sex positivity, and even brings up LGBTQ+ discrimination. Seriously, if you want to learn about the uphill battle teaching sex ed and want some accurate info, this series is the one for you. I really wish I had had this series growing up, it would have changed my perception on sex for the better and I hope it can enlighten the masses on the importance of proper sex education.

Cringe jak sviň... Učitelka je totálně na přesdržku.

Myšlenku edukační mangy o sexu i docela chválím, ale zpracování je strašně divný a některé pasáže doslovným překladem nefungují - japonština má např. stejný výraz pro kočku a submisiva. Když tu jedna holka říká, jak ji kočka kouše podprsenku, spolužačky si představují něco úplně jiného. A čtenář (až do závěrečné poznámky překladatele) nechápe proč.

This is a pretty good and wholesome book. It teaches you a about sex in a light hearted way and doesn’t try to go down a over sexualized route. Honestly would be a good book for older teens that are in high school who doesn’t know much about these things. The characters are super cute too and I like how they wanna learn more in a serious manner as well. Definitely give this book a try especially if you’re someone who wants to get educated a bit but in manga form

I expected this book to be a bit more comprehensive (covering all aspects of sex, including those between heterosexuals and those of the LGBTQ community), and instead, this read more like a gag manga. There were "beats" in the 4-5 panels in the page, indicating the set up of the joke, and the punchline in the final panel.

Granted, this wasn't the case for every chapter. It was more peppered through the start and towards the end of each chapter.

Further, this manga had a more diverse view of what sex might mean, with one of the characters interested in BL (which stands for boy's love, and involved stories between boys/men), one who is a lesbian, and the third being ace / asexual (and potentially aromantic?).

While it was a bit thin on details, the discussions in the manga were still all quite relevant and interesting.

This was fantastic and funny. I really enjoyed this, and not only does the author provide a resource page for the facts in the manga, the author also provides sites where (japanese) teenagers could go to learn more about sex, same sex couples, and sex education.

I wish this had been around when I was in Junior High/High School.

It takes a subject that is normally treated as "awkward" and finds a way to make it both humorous and informative. While not completely comprehensive (you can't use this to replace a Sex Ed class) it does offer a great starting point or spring board for girls to learn more about themselves and feel more comfortable in their own skin. It asks and answers questions and even offers resources for further information on the topics covered.

The art style is nice to look at and avoids over sexualizing any of the characters. It has characters with different body types and different sexual orientations but doesn't make these aspects of them into their whole "personality". Rather, they're  just another part of their overall character, which makes them more relatable and "real" feeling.

High school teacher Naoko Tsuji goes rogue to give her students the best, most informative, and most sex positive sexual education class she can. She has a tendency to sexually harass the school nurse, but her lessons are humorous and educational with a strong yuri bent, and they should be welcome and reassuring to any teen who picks up the book. (Ironically, the book is for "mature" audiences with a parental advisory warning. Watch out for those corrupting sugar glider and elephant penises!)

Sex Ed 120% volume 1 and volume 2 is a funny, semi-comprehensive and positive sex ed guide for girls wrapped in a manga with a possible GL subplot. New physical education teacher, Naoko Tsuji, is known for her brash and sometimes unorthodox method of teaching sex and puberty at an all girls high school. Despite her depth of knowledge and good intentions, she's often at odds with the school's nurse and vice principal but Tsuji is undeterred. From her first day on the job, she boldly teachers her students about how to use condoms and dental dams during cunnilingus and anal-lingus.

Sex Ed 120%'s Tsuji expressions are drawn wonderfully over-the-top to illustrate her emotions. The manga also does a great job of creating a set of female characters who are diverse in body type, sexual orientation, and gender presentation. This manga doesn't shy away from using correct biological terms and correlating them with their Western and Eastern slang counter parts. The language might make a reader blush, but the illustrations are less graphic than high school biology text book.

Sex Ed 120% covers more than just the physical and biological acts of sex and reproduction. It talks about consent and the nuances of consent; how the media and pornography causes body image issues in both boys/men and girls/women; and the double standard of forced gender roles. It's a book manga packed with information and humor. What makes Sex Ed 120% even more delightful is that Tsuji Sensai often realizes she still has much to learn and her sex ed lessons often coincide with her personal life. Sex Ed 120% allows the readers to learn about sex safely while expanding their view of what sex and sexuality is. At the back of the book, there's a list of references and research data so readers know that the information comes from a reliable place. This book is a 10 out of 10.

This is an awesome manga. It has accurate and diverse sexual information for readers. Though it’s rated mature, this is likely due to the language and discussion used. There is no gratuitous nudity, nor are there contrived sexual situations. Is it funny? Yes. Is the teacher over the top? Yes. But the information is accurate and it shares safe sex practices and not just between a heterosexual couple, but a lesbian couple as well. The manga goes so far as to protest discriminatory practices against LGBT couples at love hotels. Quite frankly this is an amazing manga and I hope it reaches many hands. It addresses issues such as the media’s unrealistic portrayal of sex, body image such as body hair, and expectations. I look forwards to the next volume.

Even though this is a manga, most people would consider it silly or not educational, they would be wrong. This would be the perfect source of educational material for teens right now. ||sex|| ed is something that is either not handled well or handled so delicately that it's not helpful at all. This manga does focus more on the girls side of ||sex|| ed which is understandable because most information in schools is more directed towards boys. The teacher covers things from || how to come out to your peers, safe sex for both boy/girl and same-sex relationships *which is incredibly important*, how to approach sex, and how to be happy with who you are while your body changes. The characters are not seen as playthings and are treated with respect. There is no nudity in this manga as well.||

This book was such an odd experience for me. While I didn’t like it (and if I had continued it was on track to get a 2 star), I think this is an important book and needs to be out there and read.

For me, the pacing was off and it felt WAY too info-dumpy. And while the conversations between the teacher and the students were important, I just kept thinking how inappropriate they were for that relationship. Maybe because I am older than the characters, and I am not the target audience. But I just couldn’t care about this story. BUT, I do think this needs to exist and can help young girls understand sex when they may not get that info anywhere else.

Sex Ed 120% (Vol. 1) by Kikiki Tataki is a comedy Manga surrounding the classroom of a high school sex education class.

When the health teacher at an all-girls' school thinks the approved curriculum doesn't cover important topics, she starts to go off-book, much to her boss's dismay. Professor Tsuji teaches about safe sex for same-sex couples, women's masturbation, and body positivity!

A cute and quick read about what we all wished sex ed had been like in high school.

Excellent manga. Tsuji-sensei is a hero. The three main girls (and the girlfriend of one of them) have different situations, so many kinds of topics are explored through that. And the teacher herself and the school nurse bring another angle to the mix. Tsuji teaches the girls about body and body image, masturbation and much more. And it's funny too.

That parental advisory tag is completely unwarranted though and goes against what this book is aiming to do...
