It’s been a little bit of time since I have talked about Specter Inspectors, but I am definitely still reading this series! I have been picking up these issues on Hoopla and I am excited to see where the series goes. If you are interested in hearing more about the other two issues before reading this summary and review, they are both available here and on my Goodreads! But without further ado, let’s talk about issue three!
SPOILERS AHEAD
To dive deeper into some of the mysteries of the town, the group is going to spend the night in the museum, which is maybe not the best idea but they think it would give them a chance to learn more that could really help them. However, soon after being locked in things go upside down (literally) very quickly and the group gets separated. Oh, and they also figure out that someone is coming soon. Not knowing what is about to happen, they try to find clues and find their way back to each other. As soon as the group reunites they run into the watchers, a group of people who have been following them. But what do they want? Also, why do they want Astrid?
I am really enjoying my time with this series! I am getting kind of Scooby-Doo vibes when I spend time with this group (but add in a demon possessing one of the members of the group). I am really interested in seeing where things go between the group and the Watchers. I would like to know more about them in general as well as their motivations. I will definitely be picking up issue four, hopefully soon!
The mystery continues. I did have a issue with this book (outside my copy having some printing defects, random purple splotches), but the issue may be a me assuming things issue; the
Things get pretty hectic for the Specter Inspectors in this issue, with the museum rearranging itself causing the group to get separated. Amongst all of that chaos, a rather sweet moment gives insight as to why Ko joined as the camera man. A rather funny moment amongst all the chaos, was Gus giving Astrid romance advice. Also, a group of cultists wanting to get rid of the demon inside of Astrid joined the overall plot which was interesting to see.
So I'm not sure I understood how this part fit in?
Spoiler:
I understand the mayor was the bad guy but did he control the house and make it move around like that? Is the house a living being too? Are there spooky parts of the town that are just never addressed or did I miss the explanations.
This series is fun, and the upcoming collected edition is gorgeous. The characters are interesting and definitely have Scooby Doo vibes. If you liked that, read this! The art also really pops.
Man, this comic is paced so well. I love Astrid and Noa so much, and the demon is a spooky hoot -- and I normally think all demon stories are pretty dumb. This also has a lot of Ghost Files vibes.
Though I feel the comic loses a bit of momentum in this issue, I'm still interested to find out where the story goes from here - I can't wait to find out what happens next!
