Have you ever wondered why there are so many books about bears?
No? Well consider this… every time you pick up a book about a bear, some poor grizzler has to jump up and perform the story for you – even if they were in the middle of something really good – like sleeping, snoozing, or napping.
And because there are so many books about bears, the bears are pooped! They’re always on call, they can never catch a break, and they’re tired of doing all the hard work. No wonder they’re grizzly.
Quand les ours en ont marre de travailler dans les livres pour enfants et se rebellent, ça donne "Encore une histoire d'ours", et des fous rires garantis !
There are certainly plenty of picture books (and classic tales) featuring bears.
This is protest book from the bear’s point of view. The text is entirely a conversation between the supposed storyteller and Bear, distinguished by text colors and page location rather than by dialogue tags. In fact, this exchange provides a simple mentor text for early exploration of voice in writing workshops.
Crucial to this exchange are the expressions and body postures of the graphic illustrations of bear and the vast array of alternative animals he proposes. That becomes necessary when a simple boycott fails, due to the power of the text to dress Bear in embarrassing costumes and situations.
Each of the alternative animals displays a degree of interest/unwillingness, while recognizing that Bear’s complaints are legitimate. This meta-story has loads of kid-winning humor, some sly humor for adults, and presents a well-constructed model for recognizing issues, registering complaints, negotiating change, and arriving at workable resolutions.
I can also imagine kids collecting all of their bear books ( and there are plenty!) and revisiting each by replacing bears with other critters in new roles.
Truth: this is one more book about bears, but it feels like a worthy addition to the crowd. After all, can you really have too many books about bears?

Another Book About Bears tells the humorous tale of what happens when the bears go on strike. Bear tries to find a good replacement.
The text of this book is a conversation between the bears and the storyteller. Text, colors, and location distinguish the conversation. This book is a joyous and humorous read suitable for all ages. The illustrations provide a better understanding of bear's emotions, allowing the reader to further dive into the story.
The bears are tired of doing all the heavy lifting when it comes to acting out stories for children. They quit! They have plenty of suggestions for other animals that could entertain instead though.
The salmon remain unimpressed.
Funny, and works on several levels - adults and children alike will enjoy reading this.
My daughter and I love reading this book! It is a super cute story and a whole lot of fun reading it with different voices, between the bear and the narrator.
Watched on youtube. I think 'meta' books are done, unless they're really special. This is only 'fine.' And the fonts aren't consistent to whom is speaking.
