This is my favorite Freddie's Amazing Bakery book in the series and my six-year-old agrees. Once again Freddy displays quality characteristics that continue to make him lovable. In this story, Bernard, the villain, is the most Bernard he has ever been, especially when his beloved cat, Otto, goes missing. My daughter and I laughed out loud at Bernard's wild accusations and she insisted on reading any lines that were Bernard's, especially those in shouting capital letters, which he did a lot! In this story, Freddie discovers that a thief has stolen pastries from the back of his delivery bike at the same time that celebrity cat, Cookie, goes missing from the town hotel. As the mystery comes under investigation, the town and its residents prepare for a special picnic which aims to raise funds to repair the broken carousel. The culminating events wrap up the story nicely and cement Freddie's place as a hero! Special shoutout to Freddie's dog, Flapjack, who is also central to this story!
