A Bake for All Seasons is The Great British Baking Show' s Ode to Nature, packed with timely bakes lovingly created to showcase seasonal ingredients and draw inspiration from the changing moods and events of the year.
Whether you're looking to make the best of asparagus in spring, your prize strawberries in summer, pumpkin in autumn or blood oranges in winter, these recipes - from Prue, Paul, the Bake Off team and the 2021 bakers themselves - offer insight and inspiration throughout the year. From celebration cakes to traybakes, loaf cakes, and breads to pies, tarts and pastries, this book shows you how to make the very best of what each season has to offer.
Paul Hollywood is an English baker and celebrity chef. He has worked as a baker since taking up the career at his father's bakery as a teenager and has gone on to become head baker at a number of hotels around Britain. After returning from working in Cyprus, he began appearing in guest spots on a number of British television shows on both BBC and ITV channels. Since 2010 he has appeared as a judge on BBC2's baking show The Great British Bake Off. He runs his own artisanal baking business, which supplies stores such as Harrods.
When I placed this book on hold through my local public library I had no idea that there would be recipes from the bakers of the current series we were watching on Netflix! I was thrilled to discover recipes from Guiseppe, Jurgen and others included, as well as recipes from the hosts, Paul and Prue.
The contestants on this particular season seemed especially creative and the challenges very demanding. The semi-final and final shows were truly nail biting!
I didn't get nearly enough time with this extraordinary book, which another library in our consortium had generously loaned to me, as there other folk waiting for their turn and I must return it posthaste. So, I am off to purchase my own copy to add to my collection, as there are so many recipes I plan to try!
Having seen the show it was only natural to read the recipes! There are sections which give solid advice on how to equip your kitchen with the right utensils, baking hardware etc... Baking tips and measuring tips. The recipes have beautiful pictures and clear instructions. Remember this is a European book so the measurements are metric. There is a section in the book that provides conversion charts. Also, most digital scales allow you to switch units easily so you should have no problems following the recipes. I'm looking forward to trying the recipes. Enjoy!
Do keep in mind that the difficulty level of many of these is challenging for amateur cooks or very involved, time consuming, etc. The resulting dish is well worth the effort, of course, but read them carefully to make sure you have everything you need and the time necessary.

It's hard to resist these glossy cookbooks when they come through my work. This one was aesthetically pleasing. And, I am a huge fan of the show. The recipes were incredibly complex and the measurements are British. So, it wouldn't be the easiest baking cookbook. It would be a great gift for fans of the show, though.
I just wanted to see how Giuseppe made those beautiful Swiss rolls on the first day in the tent !Its in this book and so many other delicacies. Love it.
