I really needed an innovative cookbook to help me change up my air fryer routine!
The recipes in this beautifully illustrated book include many all-time favourite crowd pleasers:
Kale Chips Fried Pickles Potato Wedges (and Fries) Corn on the Cob Crispy Ranch Chicken Wings Chicken Parmesan Bruschetta Chicken (you add the tomatoes and seasoning half-way through) Orange Chicken (!!! Yummy !!!) Mongolian Beef Beef Empanadas Lasagna Salmon Cakes Bang Bang Shrimp Fish Sticks Beer Battered Cod
... to name just a few!!!
What I love about this cookbook in particular is that the author includes an estimated cost guide: I love advance warnings! Some recipes can cost a fortune to whip up, especially if you have to search out or order exotic ingredients or spices. My taste buds were well and truly intrigued by the wealth and variety of recipes in this excellent cookbook! Cooking healthy is now even tastier - and faster - than ever. Who doesn't love "crispy on the outside - juicy and tender on the inside?"
Hint, hint: this air fryer guide and recipe book would make a great Xmas gift for foodies and cookbook collectors!
(Note: because the book was not yet published when I wrote this review, I was not allowed to use any of the pictures in this cookbook. The illustrations I have used are from the internet.) My thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this versatile cookbook in exchange for an honest review.
On the plus side, most of these recipes are really quick and easy with minimal ingredients. I also appreciate the nutritional information for each recipe.
On the negative, there are very few photos and most of the recipes are for processed and/or unhealthy food other than the absolute basics that you probably don't need a cookbook for. It's not a cookbook I'm likely to use, but others are likely to find it very helpful.
Thanks to Net Galley for a digital ARC for review purposes.
Ok, so I am becoming a little bit of a nerd about air fryer cookbooks. Different enough of an appliance, I relied on cookbooks to help with cooking times and best practices through my learning process. Even now when I understand enough to adapt my own recipes, I still love checking out the latest cookbooks. And this is a really god one. It includes enough to get a novice up-to-speed quickly. What sets it apart is finding good recipes to feed your family without breaking the bank. Each recipe includes a cost per serving that I found interesting. Good recipes using affordable ingredients. I only have made one so far, but I have a decent-sized list that I will be making soon. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love flipping through a new cookbook and finding inspiration. As a new air fryer owner, this provided some great ideas for ways to use my air fryer. I especially liked the recipes for side dishes and veggies, and look forward to trying some out. Recipes appear to be clearly written and easy to follow. I like that the author did the math on cost per serving and nutrition info, although the former can vary widely by area and may go out of date, and the latter can be an imperfect science unless you are using all the same brands and a kitchen scale consistently.
Overall, I wouldn't personally buy this particular cookbook after browsing it. It uses a lot of processed food short cuts, and that's just not the way I like to cook.
I love reading through cookbooks! This is a tradition that my mother-in-law passed along to me. This one is different because it is an alternate kitchen counter small appliance that many people, including myself, own. I have used it largely to heat up frozen French fries in a spectacular way, but really haven’t made much else in it. This will certainly change this. This cookbook is divided as a typical cookbook but with the addition of instructions and recipes that will be easily made in the Air Fryer. Many of these recipes are staples with a twist. I can’t wait to start trying these. The best aspect of this book is the additional information that is included with each recipe. For instance, there is information about alternative ingredients that can be used for a recipe and hand’s on time as well as cooking time. The author includes when to shake or flip the food and even the cost per serving. The photos are well done and are usually my favorite aspect of a cookbook. I love these photos and wish there were even more, but the information from the author is my favorite for this particular book. Oh, and by the way, we made the Bruschetta Chicken tonight and it was delicious! Even high reviews from family who are skeptical of new recipes. Highly recommend for those trying to come up with ideas for other ways to utilize the Air Fryer! #TheILoveMyAirFryerAffordableMealsRecipeBook #Netgalley #AdamsMedia
THE "I LOVE MY AIR FRYER" AFFORDABLE MEALS RECIPE BOOK: FROM MEATLOAF TO BANANA BREAD, 175 DELICIOUS MEALS YOU CAN MAKE FOR UNDER $12 BY: AILEEN CLARK
I loved all of the delicious sounding recipes that are presented in this cookbook that you can make with an Air Fryer. The Author, Aileen Clarke has gone to a lot of trouble to present so many different and diverse dishes that you can make with an Air Fryer. I don't yet own an Air Fryer and I was hoping that this book would go into more detail about what are the best ones to buy if that is possible and explain why. She did explain that there are two different types that you can buy, but she didn't designate which type that she uses to create the 175 mouth watering diverse dishes that she gives precise instructions for the easy ingredients to make them in this terrific cookbook.
I will buy an Air Fryer, but I still have research to do to figure out which type of the two kinds that Aileen Clark lists in the beginning of her decadent recipe cookbook. I was hoping that she would go into more details about the Air Fryer itself. For instance: How do you use it? Which are the most reliable brand names to buy out there on the market? If I am going to invest in buying an Air Fryer some information enlightening me on which one she recommends would have been helpful.
Still, I would rate this Recipe book for cooking with an Air Fryer a solid Four Stars for her all inclusive recipes listing what ingredients to buy and how long to cook them. I can't wait to try most all of them-that's how tasty they sound. I was hungry while reading this. I will buy my own physical copy of this delightful recipe book to cook with an Air Fryer after I figure out the best brand and type will suit my needs. This Author deserves a lot of credit for arranging all of the diverse meals into easy to navigate categories and for figuring out for us how many they serve. She also lists the calories and other statistics of each recipe such as how many grams of Fat, Protein, Sodium, Fiber, Carbohydrates and Sugar.
In the beginning of this Recipe book cooking with an Air Fryer she explains that you should clean it after each use using toothpicks or any other sharp tools to clean out any food stuck in the air holes. First, it is important to make sure that you unplug your Air Fryer and that it has time to cool down. It can be cleaned using warm, soapy water by first starting with your air basket or trays. Then wiping both the inside and outside with a damp towel. I found this information useful advice to know because I love my kitchen and appliances to always be clean and my microwave and oven and stove look brand new because they are cleaned to sparkling condition after each use.
This Author says that one of the benefits of cooking with an Air Fryer is that it doesn't make your kitchen as hot in the Summer. This isn't a problem for me since my air conditioner makes me freezing cold in my house so that sometimes I turn it off because I am so cold. Only in the high ninety degree weather do I run it continuously. So the point about it being cooler in my kitchen isn't a factor whether I decide to cook with an Air Fryer. The Author gives you two coupon Apps to help save money and recommends doing online shopping and buying in bulk. This is something to consider, but something that I am not likely to do. Her reasoning for online shopping saves you from impulse buying. I like to roam the grocery store to see what I feel like buying as I don't think that I will stick to buying only for the recipes. Although, having a thought out meal plan for the week is probably cost efficient, it is not something that I am likely to do. I prefer to cook what I am in the mood for and find this too restrictive.
Aileen Clark, the Author does recommend spraying your Air Fryer with olive oil spray, because standard nonstick sprays contain chemicals that can wear down the coating in your Air Fryer. I found that to be helpful and important to know. All of the recipes in this cookbook require you to preheat your Air Fryer prior to cooking. She lists the accessories that she uses to cook these recipes. She uses a 7 inch cake pan, a Silicone egg mold and a small Bundt pan. She does say that some Air Fryers offer additional capabilities such as dehydrators, roasters and rotisseries. Tongs are a great tool recommended and I am assuming the ones with silicone are a must have since when flipping food it is hot and those will withstand hot temperatures.
The Author recommends when purchasing an Air Fryer is to get one that is at least 5 quarts, even if you are only cooking for one or two people. The reasoning behind that is there will be times when you want to cook more than one serving and the extra food might not fit inside a smaller Air Fryer.
She doesn't list the greatest brand to buy, which is something that I was hoping for but she says that basically there are two main types and both can be used when cooking all of the recipes in this cookbook. She leaves it up to your personal preferences which is something that I would have liked her to elaborate more on, since I would be a beginner and I have no clue which type I would prefer. I would like to know the differences of each type, such as what are the advantages and disadvantages to each, and why? She says simply the two types are the basketstyle and ovenstyle and both are great options. What are the options that these two styles offer? I would have liked to find that out in this "I Love my Air Fryer." Why would I know which of the two types I should buy, when I am brand new to deciding which style to purchase and whether or not I would use this to cook everything in it besides fried food?
The jury is still out on whether I would want to cook everything mentioned in this recipe book in an Air Fryer. I only think of purchasing one because it is a more healthy alternative to having crispy food that can be an alternative to deep frying foods. Still I applaud this Author for compiling 175 recipes that do sound wonderful. I don't know anybody who uses an Air Fryer to ask so I am grateful to this Author and Adams Media for providing me with knowing that i can cook other things in an Air Fryer than traditional deep-fried food. It does seem faster to cook saving time but this is something that I will try. The quality of my cooking is important to me and I don't have a problem with taking longer to cook in an oven, if the food comes out better. I will update this review after I research the best brand of Air Fryer and let you know how the other traditional recipes are and how good they taste after I try them. I think that I will love one for an alternative to deep-fried food because it is so much healthier. That is the main reason why I chose this cookbook.
Publication Date: October 12, 2021 This wonderful cookbook is already Available to buy!
Thank you to Net Galley, Aileen Clark and Adams Media for providing me with my ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
This is a decent cookbook- most of the recipes do look pretty simple and like they would be fairly cheap to whip up. I like that they had nutritional facts as well. While there were some pictures, there was not near as many as I would have liked to see. Also, many of the recipes use a lot of processed junk food. It may appeal to some, but they recipes really just weren't things I would personally make, unfortunately.
I appreciated that the author took the time to calculate the cost of what making each recipe would be. I also know that prices vary from place to place, and this is only an estimate. There were a few recipes that seemed strange to me, and I have not had a lot of luck baking in my air fryer. I am also at a place in my life where I am trying to cut out processed ingredients and most of the recipes contained those in them. So there were some great ideas, just not the right cookbook for me.
Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book has lots of good recipes that can be made fast and cheap! I really want to try the Monkey Bread, Corn Fritters, and General Tso's Cauliflower. One thing I will say is that if you are looking for low carb recipes, this is not the place to look.
Four stars. I really do love my air fryer -- it’s a rare day when it doesn’t get some use -- but even so, I'm always on the lookout for new uses and new recipes, so I was really excited to see this cookbook. There are many great recipes here, ranging from breakfast through dessert. In addition to the simple and straightforward recipes, there is so much information included to help keep your food costs down, from helpful hints in the introductory section to the approximate cost of each meal. The photography is lovely, but I would have liked to see a photo with every recipe.
I'm grateful to Adams Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review "I Love My Air Fryer" Affordable Meals.
I felt that this was overall a rather good cookbook! There are always recipes in a cookbook that I move past, but there were much less in this Air Fryer book! In addition, there was nothing "crazy gourmet" that you know no one will make. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the free copy of the book, I was able to make some delicious things such as the Brioche French Toast. Will definitely recommend!
I have both a basket-style and an oven-style air fryer and I appreciated the ideas in this book for how to get more use out of both! It's very helpful to have clear instructions for how to cook things less obvious for the air fryer (baked dishes, breads and sweets, etc) since sometimes it's a real advantage to cook on a smaller scale and not heat up the whole kitchen with the conventional oven.
A few recipes were repeats (egg dishes presented as two separate recipes when they were just ingredient variations with the same base and instructions) and I noticed sometimes the quantities seemed off (a recipe for muffins seems to suggest pouring a mixed box of cake mix and can of pumpkin into 6 egg cups, which seems unlikely. No mention was made of cooking in batches.) but generally speaking these are good, useful recipes that I'm looking forward to trying! Most recipes do not have pictures.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review.
The "I Love My Air Fryer" Affordable Meals Recipe Book is a well organized tutorial guide with recipes developed and collected by Aileen Clark. Due out 10th Oct 2021 from Simon & Schuster on their Adams Media imprint, it's 224 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.
Despite having had an air fryer for a while, we rarely used it (except to make popcorn and precut frozen french fries). After testing out this cookbook, the air fryer hasn't even been packed away in the cabinet since. Air fryers are really surprisingly versatile and this cookbook is packed with enough recipes to keep cooks going for a while. In addition, the recipes emphasize affordable ingredients to keep costs down. The layout is logical and easy to follow. A short introduction with some money saving shopping tips leads directly to the cookbook. The recipes are arranged thematically: breakfasts, appetizers & snacks, side dishes, chicken mains, beef & pork mains, fish & seafood mains, vegetarian mains, and desserts. There are 175 recipes, enough to keep even the most obsessed cook going for ages.
The recipes are given with American standard measurements only. The ingredients are listed in a bullet list sidebar format along with special info in the headers including tips, approximate costs, background and serving suggestions. There are very few (none, really) which require difficult to source ingredients. Nutritional info is included: calories, fat, protein, sodium, fiber, carbs, and sugar. There are numerous vegetarian options. Some recipes do make use of convenience and pre-made ingredients such as purchased puff pastry and pie dough, but the majority are "from scratch" (for healthier results and to save on costs).
We're definitely going to try more of these. The book is not abundantly photographed (about 20-25% by my rough count), but the photos which are included are well done and serving suggestions are attractive and appropriate. Well written book, tasty recipes. I've dinged half a star for the dearth of photographs. For cooks who -need- photographs for serving ideas, this might be problematic.
Four and a half stars.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
Thank you to Natgally and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. I wanted to try this cook book because I recently purchased an air fryer and I wanted to expand my use of it beyond just veggies and the occasional potato based dish. This cookbook has a ton of recipes that I would have never have thought to make in an air fryer and is a really helpful tool in turning my air fryer into an actual cooking tool and not just a thing that takes up space in my kitchen. There is a wide variety of options and I even found the recipes easily adjustable for my dietary restrictions.
This may be my fav of the “I Love My Air Fryer” series! The recipes are super simple and use ingredients that are either on hand or easy to grab at the supermarket and they’re quick and easy to prepare. And they’re cost efficient and healthier options to eating out or frying in grease. The pictures are gorgeous and there’s a quick reference guide if measurements in the back and a beginner “how to” on using an air fryer in the front. This book is not compliant in any way and I mean that in the best way. I will be purchasing one for myself and likely as gifts this holiday season. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for my review.
I just started using my air fryer and this book gave me lots of suggestions for quick and easy meals to make. Too bad there isn't a picture for each recipe....
Ho appena cominciato ad usare la mia friggitrice ad aria e questo libro mi ha dato un sacco di suggerimenti per pasti facili e veloci da preparare. Peccato non ci sia una foto per ogni ricetta....
I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.
I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been impacted by the new inflation we are experiencing in the US; it’s simply more expensive to feed our families. Since most of us are in love with our air fryers, Aileen Clark’s cookbook, The "I Love My Air Fryer" Affordable Meals Recipe Book: From Meatloaf to Banana Bread, 175 Delicious Meals You Can Make for under $12 cookbook is very timely, and has dozens of mouthwatering meals that can be made on a tight budget. The author, a seasoned blogger (a href=" https://aileencooks.com" rel='nofollow'> Aileen Cooks ) and recipe developer has included family friendly recipes that are mostly quick and easy with a short list of ingredients.
The recipes are traditionally written and easy-to-follow. They will appeal to almost everyone, and are easy enough that anyone – from beginning cooks to advanced cooks – will be able to turn out picture perfect meals. Unfortunately, there are only a few photographs, so readers will have to use their imagination to picture how a dish should look. All the recipes tried so far have turned out perfectly, so it’s obvious that they have been tested.
If you have an air fryer, you’ll want to add this excellent cookbook to your recipe collection. Not only does it have good recipes, but also air fryer basics as well as ways to save money on ingredients. Incidentally, most of the ingredients called for can be obtained at most local grocery stores – no need to go to more expensive specialty stores. You’ll find yourself cooking dozens of recipes from this book and some will certainly become family favorites.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. The "I Love My Airfryer" Affordable Meals Recipe Book by Aileen Clark was a revelation to me. Like many, while stuck at home during the pandemic, I purchased an Air Fryer. The thing was, other than using it for re-heating french fries and frozen mozzarella sticks, I didn't really use it. I was beginning to think that it would be better just to pass it on to someone else because I wasn't using it at all. I found this book at the perfect time. The teen was off to college, cooking for one was frustrating, and I'd begun to depend on delivery too much. The recipes in the book have everything from snacks to full meals and desserts. Many of the recipes are easily adapted for smaller quantities, the ingredients are easily obtainable, affordable and I can make many of them more quickly and with less clean up than I would by traditional methods. The Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins, Chicken Taquitos, Maple Salmon, Smashed Red Potatoes, Maple Bacon Brussel sprouts, and Root Vegetable recipes are ones that I will make over and over. The recipes are well written and easy to follow. My only gripe would be that I wish there were pictures of all the recipes. The author went out of their way to show the cost of everything. I got a good cackle out of it though, cause nothing in here would price so low as where ever this person is from. If you live in Canada, you can more than double the cost for most of these. If you live in a rural area in Western Canada, better triple it to be 'safe'. Or do what I did, laugh at the cost of a few recipes and then just completely ignore that info because it is very, very wrong for my region.
Upside to this book is that it is another cookbook with 'a less is more' approach to ingredients. Note that the author does make use of pre-made ingredients, like puff pastry for example, so if you are one of those make if from scratch people, you're going to have to find the recipe for some of these 'processed' ingredients. Aka, make your own processed ingredients. lol For people with time constraints, or who just want the 'easier' way to get food on the table, this book is plenty reasonable with your time, listing prep and cook time estimates.
For myself, I didn't find anything I didn't A) already have a recipe for, or B) wanted to actually try. I came out with exactly 1 recipe to give a whirl, probably as a family get together option the kids will like, Chicken taquitos.
Other then that, it was a bust for me but I could see this being useful for other people.
My air fryer attachment to my instant pot has sat in my cupboard, mostly unused since I bought it. So, I was excited to try out this cookbook, chock full of ideas.
I would never have imagined making breakfast using the air fryer until reading this., but the idea of making French toast or banana bread using fascinating. I’m also interested in the puff pastry ideas, and excited by the idea of making a frittata without worrying about getting it cooked on the top (always a struggle).
I appreciated the focus on affordability, but for me there were a few too many recipes with bacon and/or cheese for my liking; defiantly a bent more toward comfort food (great if you enjoy that!).
Sides like maple Brussel sprouts or roasted veggies and whole chicken have me intrigued, though. And I want to try making churros, shortbread, and the sea salt cookies- they all sound scrumptious.
Now, maybe I’ll learn to love my air fryer, and it won’t be so neglected!
** I received an early copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
Part of a series specifically for air fryer appliances, this recipe book delivered. I think this book would appeal for beginner cooks, air fryer lovers and those looking for recipes on the not expensive side. Ranging in complexity, some meals were made up of just a few ingredients while others had different components with their own steps to complete. Types of dishes included appetizers, mail dishes, sweets and everything in between.
All of it was laid out in easy to read fashion, clear lists of ingredients with many showcased in colourful, inviting pictures. For experienced cooks looking for a simple dish to beginners afraid to venture, this has something to appeal to everyone. I’m a newbie to the air fryer and having helpful hints on how create a range of tasty meals was just what I needed!
*I happily reviewed this book **Thank you to NetGalley
This particular recipe book is unfortunately not the most appealing to read, although it does contain fair simple household recipes. I absolutely love my air-fryer so was excited to read this book. It covers a wide range of meal options from breakfast through to dessert. Each recipe is easy to follow and contains minimal ingredients. It is mostly family friendly and will suit a beginner chef rather than a more adventurous chef. It does contain some photographs but not for every recipe. I feel people like to see more of these photos to give you an indication of your final product. Each recipe does come with nutritional value which I do like in a recipe book. Overall could be more eye catching to the reader, but the over content is pretty good. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.
This cookbook provides affordable meals for your family that are quick and easy to make. The best part, is that all recipes can be made using only one kitchen tool, your air fryer. There are 175 different recipes, spanning different meals that you can make. The recipes include ingredients, cooking instructions, calories, and other important tips. Also, included are cost estimates, important for those of us cooking for a family and looking to be budget conscious. The recipes that I tried from the cookbook were tasty, and easy to make. I highly recommend this cookbook for anyone looking to expand their repertoire of cooking with an air fryer. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.
This book was a split decision for me. I thought there were a nice variety of recipes included and that there is some very helpful info included for those new to air frying (like me). However the cookbook collector in me was not enthused. This book offers very little visual appeal because the photos are few and very far between. So if you are looking for something to get you started and aren't overly troubled by using processed foods into your recipes, I think this is a good choice. However, if you are super health conscious, have diet restrictions or are looking for a new stunner for your book shelf, this is probably going to be a pass. This is my frank, freely posted review.
This is an outstanding cookbook with useful recipes for the air fryer. It definitely highlights the usefulness and versatility of the appliance. The recipes are not complicated and the ones I tried turned out beautifully.
I told myself no more cookbooks this year, then I had to go preview this book. I already preordered the book. I love my Air Fryer it is one of my favorite appliances in the kitchen. This book just upped my Air Fryer game. The layout is easy to follow the recipes are easy ingredients to find and ones you would have on hand. From breakfast, meals to desserts this has you covered. I have a family of seven and this recipe book is just what I needed. If you have an Air Fryer I strongly suggest adding this book to your shelf.
I received a free digital copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
I've recently started using my air fryer, and I love finding new and easy recipes for it. I always get so surprised when I see that certain things can be cooked in an air fryer. French toast? Bacon? No way!
Love this collection!
Favorite recipes: Banana bread Pigs in a blanket Honey goat cheese balls Fried pickles
This book covers basics of selecting an air fryer and how to use it and money saving tips for buying groceries. The recipes include nutritional information and total cost and run the gamut from simple snacks to complex meals but they’re all affordable with simple ingredients that don’t require a trip to a specialty store. There are quite a few recipes that I’m excited to try out. This is a great book for anyone cooking on a budget.
