I picked this audiobook up on Hoopla just based on the category. I knew it would be a little rough to pick up in the middle of the series. The author did a good job at weaving in details from previous books, however. I didn’t love it but for a mystery/procedural, it was decent.
Blake Pierce is still keeping us riveted to this series. Adele Sharp is doing what she does best: Catching killers, and she is getting better at it.
In this instalment, a seemingly unconnected string of murders occurs in vacation homes scattered throughout the French countryside, many involving American, German and Italian ex-pats, FBI Special Agent Adele Sharp—triple agent of the U.S., France and Germany—is called in to cross borders and use her brilliant mind to figure out who is behind it.
With her partner Jean/John, they do what they were trained to do. Their being together is bound to bring in intimacy, and they are coming out of each other's closets: they kiss. At last, some character development for Adele Sharp. However, it shouldn't have taken this long to develop Adele, she has been stuck in a rug of obsession with her mother's killer and insincere sensitivities.
It is still intriguing to listen to/read this series.
Adele is mourning the loss of her mentor and it is imparing her abilities to do her job properly. The story is fast-paced, has lots of action, shows Adele´s and her co-worker´s feelings towards her and her capacity as a crime solver. She now is focused on solving the most difficult case of her life - finding the assassin of her mother and her mentor. She wants those she loves to be away from her, but will they? Will she be able to regroup her feelings and actions and find the culprit? I´m really looking forwardto reading the next book in the series. If you enjoy fast-paced stories, a bit of drama and an agent who seems to be like an ordinary but strong willed woman, you should not miss downloading this book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this Book 8 in the Adele Sharp Series. I was worried when Adele was paired with Sophie given their history but that was the least of issues this pair dealt with. The killer was moving faster than they could keep up and in multiple countries as has become the standard for Adele.
Adele is reeling at the beginning of Book 8, reeling from the murder of her mentor Robert, by the Spade Killer. She has become unsure of her own abilities and wondering if she shouldn't just throw it all in. Her world is shattered and she is doing the best she can to keep it together but she is doubting herself immensely and second guesses so much of her instinctual feelings that she is making mistakes.
The pace was quick and the Spade Killer popped in to creep me out several times. Tense, fast-paced read as always. Can't wait to move on to Book 9.
This is the best book of the series that I have read so far. The characters are multifaceted and the story was well written. The mystery was almost secondary to the protagonist angst.
Adele is dealing from the murder of her mentor, Robert and questions her instincts in her first case upon her return from bereavement leave.

This case wasn't very enticing. Finally Adele & Paige's relationship is evolving. This being book 8 - character development specifically for Adele is still stagnant; I think her skills as an agent sucks in comparison to Chloe Prime & Riley Paige. However, I love Adele & John's chemistry which is enough to keep me interested. The killers motive and background was spotty & confusing.
This is a great book, as are all in this series. I love the hopping from country to county. I enjoy seeing the growth in the relationship. Hope things warm up more in the next one. The investigative skills are impressive. Should always trust your instincts.
This book is another great installment in the Adele Sharp Mystery series. The creepy murderer in this story used something that gave hope for so many that was utilized to choke the life out of his victims.
I enjoyed the book, but I missed John. I had to laugh out loud as Adele handled the ex-husband of the first victim in a very John style. Sophie was a surprisingly good partner and that worked out way better as expected.
I was captivated by the plot. It was suspenseful as well as intriguing. It was definitely a page turner and I look forward to the next book in this series.
