You know it’s time to reconsider your life choices when…

Where do I start?

Technically, it could have been worse. My visit to the dragon enclave could’ve ended with me being eaten. Somehow I survived—with a few new bruises—and now all I want is to go home. Back to Twenty-third Street. Back to my house, my cat, and my grumpy, bathrobe-wearing gargoyle roommate.

But nothing is as simple as it used to be. My store is in shambles, there’s a traitor running around loose, and every bounty hunter in Oklahoma seems to want a piece of my hide—literally. Worst of all? The man who just might be my mate has disappeared during a desperate attempt to save his brother’s life.

I’ve never been the sort of dragon to sit on my hands when my friends are in trouble, so I can’t help but get involved. But this time, it’s going to take more than a bit of dragon fire to keep my friends safe.

The fae queen has been making her own plans, none of which involve us surviving the next ten days. When we can’t seem to stay ahead of her magic or her mercenaries, the only chance to save my friends is a potentially deadly gamble—where a single mistake could bring disaster not only for us, but for every Idrian refugee on Earth.

Only one thing is for certain—I’m going to need a lot more tea.

Don’t miss this action packed conclusion to The Dragon of 23rd Street Trilogy, a YA Urban Fantasy that’s perfect for fans of Linsey Hall, Bella Forrest, and Annette Marie. If you love snarky dragons, dangerous fae, sweet, slow-burn romance, and non-stop twists, grab a copy and start reading today!

I stayed up late to finish this final installment. It was packed full of action, Kira seems to jump from one battle to the next. Lots going on, lots of twists and storylines to tie up. It was fun getting answers to questions from the previous books and seeing how everything tied together. I like when a book can surprise me and there were a few surprises in this one. Kira and Draven are basically an established couple now, so some of that romantic tension I love wasnt really there, but at the same time it was nice to see them as a couple. While I liked Draven, I sometimes felt he was a little too "perfect" always saying the right things and being super understanding. I liked it a bit more when they would banter and disagreements, instead of him just being this overly supportive character. Its almost like he lost himself in Kira and their relationship.

As for Kira, she has grown a lot since the first book. But has stayed the same in some ways. She is quick to trust those close to her, but sometimes puts them in danger by not always thinking things through. She is quick to come to the help of others though and strives to do the right thing and wants to bring people together.

Anyway, I thought this was a really fun Urban Fantasy series. I liked the mythology and the different settings around the U.S. I thought the characters were fun and likable. A fun series I would recommend to any fan of the genre.

Content PG13
Romance: Kissing
Language: Mild, about the same as the second book
Violence: More battles, some talk of torture, more violent then the other books but not super gory

Flabbits this was so good!

It was a satisfying, happy resolution. Maybe not a complete one with all the hurt and war and all...but it tied up loose ends, took care of the major battle, and was just happy. (I will say I'm interested in seeing all the after effects, though. So much hurt and wounds and emotional PAIN to wade through now that the major stuff is over). I loved how Ryan established all the found family feels and the GROWTH of all the characters in their relationships and individualness...I will also restate that this is now my official favorite attraction to romance story. I KNEW fast crushes could be used in a wonderful way and Haley Ryan is proof of that. (still liked the family vibes SO much, though. Can I adopt everyone the heroine adopted?)

Like I said, I kind of wanted to see a bit more healing, but considering there was a big battle scene, I'm also sort of glad there was no instant-healing.

So yeah. This trilogy was a ride. Mostly a light read but with some angst in it.

Content: mild language, kisses, and there's a bit more violence but nothing overly grusome

Magical

Lots of good stuff in this final book and lots to look forward to in a new series. The heroine made a few dumb choices that no one else would have been naive enough to do. They were no brainers... like allowing a known bloodthirsty, selfish traitor free. Ridiculous.

It was a good end to a better than average, if a bit predictable, slow burn urban fantasy.

I finished this whole series and decided to do one review. It was a solid, fast paced, fantasy series! I would recommend it to anyone who likes a clean fantasy read!

Finally, a well-written indie book

There are many good indie authors, but there are also tons of horrible ones, so i wasn't expecting too much when I first picked up Dragon Chained. I'm very happy to have been blown away by Haley Ryan's dragon on 23rd street series. I'll be honest - it's not my favourite fantasy series (that honour goes to Guy Gavriel Kay, Tamora Pierce, and K M Shea), but it's certainly right up there with the best. Plus it ends well - too many series are alright at first, then deteriorate as you get further on (Hunger Games, I'm looking at you!). So for being able to carry it all the way and end well, I'm giving it 5 stars!

Kira grew lots, the pacing was really thrilling, and the plot was extremely interesting. Lots of intense moments, and while some secrets were somewhat expected, there was enough uncertainty that things never got old. All in all, this was fantastic, and I'm definitely putting Haley Ryan on my favourite authors list.

Final review

So I guess the story was interesting enough to keep me engaged for a little while. One of the things I dislike so much about the story, is that she always keeps bringing the fact that she is only 19 years old. There are some aspects I like about the story, but overall I just have a big feeling of meh.

I took a break in order to get sleep during the work week last week, and then finished all in a rush last night, and I think the break may have hurt me some - I wasn't as crazy about this book as I was about the previous two. Or may wasn't as crazy about the whole series as I'd thought? It took me a little while to remember the plot and characters and conflict in order to get back into the story, and I'd only had a break of a few days. And I wanted less plot and more character/relationship stuff in this book. Not to say there wasn't character and relationship - there was. I guess I'd just call this series more plot driven, and I prefer more character/relationship driven. The connection I felt most strongly in this series is probably the one between Kira and Faris, and oddly, since Kira consistently identifies Declan as her favorite brother, the relationship between Kira and Ryker always seemed stronger to me. The rest of the relationships either seemed arbitrary, or promising-but-undeveloped. There's also a dragon-ex-machina ending. I somewhat predicted Kira's mother would have a change of heart, but am not sure how believable I found it either that she gave up her throne or that it was that simple to defeat Elayara, though that particular resolution did catch me by surprise. But if she was going to have that dramatic change of heart/turnaround, I would have liked to know her better, or see more of her and Kira together, or something. Also, I wanted something on Morghaine and Kira...who did spent 8 years together after all. I would have been happier with less time on all the evil and politics and battle stuff and more time on developing the relationships.

Overall, the series was original and a good escape read.

Extra half a star just for that cover. I mean, look at it!

But on a more series note, this is... exactly what we had. The book seemed better at some points but followed it up with more awkward spots. I still do like the elements I mentioned earlier and the romance is certainly the best part of the book but that's also a polite way of saying the story is... nice. Mostly. The whole book is a bit of a mix - the end action scene starts strong but for me, flops on its face about halfway through. The beginning is exactly what I expected - so I am just all around confused why did it get interrupted by the real story. Okay, that doesn't make sense, let's say it straight, it's just the beginning and if you haven't read the first two books, you shouldn't be here - Love Interest left at the end of the second book. It felt silly but I thought: it's the dragon of 23rd street, of course she has to return there to restore status quo before another adventure begins. Well, the decision would have been fine if the author didn't reverse at the first and I mean first available opportunity. Why couldn't they be like, let's get home and start planning - you know, together. Nothing would change, but with this decision, the story feels flighty (since this is not the first instance were it felt "forced" for the good of the story).

Anyway, still recommend it, still like it and enjoyed it but... yeah, three stars.

Kira has chosen to leave the relative safety of the Dragon Enclave and return to her life and bookstore on 23rd Street. She knew it was a risk, but as the book goes on, we learn just how much of a risk it was. Bounties are out for her and she is relentlessly hunted. Her friends, chosen family, and real family are all in danger along with her.

I won't go into specifics, to avoid spoilers but will say that the action moves along quickly and the tension is high. Sometimes I was afraid to turn a page, worried about who was going to survive, but also couldn't stand not knowing. There are interesting twists involving both the person who raised Kira and her real aunt, Kira's friends are quirky, powerful, and loyal . . . except the ones who aren't. The story is tense, action-packed, and well done. Also, as is the case with Haley Ryan, the book is well-edited. I mention that because I will quit reading an otherwise decent story when the editing is poor. Not a problem here. I do recommend this book but strongly suggest that you read the first two books of the series to get the back story and the full enjoyment of this one.

Good

The final book in the trilogy.
Kira is back home with Faris and Hugh, getting ready to finish what she’s started.
She’s got a number of allies on her side, and she will need them, because the truths she uncovers not only place her in danger, but everyone she loves too.

This book continues on from where book two left off... which means you absolutely need to have read the previous books I’m the series first.
There’s a lot of action in this one, as we reach the final showdown, and some big truths are revealed.
Kira is still naïve though, as some of her decisions show, and she is far too trusting, the personal growth and plot resolution make up for it though.
I have to admit, I thoroughly enjoyed the ending of the battle scene, which made me laugh out loud, and Chicken is probably my absolute favourite character, with some epic scenes!
It’s an enjoyable read, very clean, fast paced, and most loose ends are nicely tied up.
This is a book that urban fantasy fans will enjoy- I wouldn’t classify it as young adult, more like a ‘clean’ new adult, but people of all ages will enjoy it.

Rollicking good story!!

First off, this is not a stand alone story, you will need to start with the first book to understand everything that happens and why it happens. With that said, it is well worth your time, the story is WONDERFUL! The characters are all well thought out and shown with weakness and strength. Perhaps best of all, the heroine isn't outstandingly stupid in her thoughts or actions and she actually grows as a person as the story progresses. There are as many moments of hilarity as there are of action. The gargoyle and his "side kick" is absolutely hysterical!! The romance is a slow burn and feels real as each of them learn to trust. Its a relief to finally see a relationship develop that doesn't happen in three pages and have it be described as a "forever love"!! The ending ties up most of the loose ends, and leaves us in a good place but I really hope this isn't the end of this crew. I will miss them and hope I will get the chance to go on another adventure with them! There is no foul language or sexual content, just a good, solid story. Give it a try, you won't regret it!

Reader’s Notes:

– this is book 3 of 3

– this is told from Kira’s point of view

– there are about 8 curse words

– there are multiple instances of Kira seeing a guy’s chest (as he can’t wear a top & shift properly)

– there is some fantasy violence

Review:

I really hope that Haley Ryan ends up writing more urban fantasies within this world if she gets inspiration! I loved this trilogy and how the story progressed! I loved that though I could guess some of the twists/reveals before they happened, not every one was guessable! I loved the ending with Kira and her mother. I loved that we got to see more of Kira and Draven together and how it went when Kira’s father-like figure found out about their relationship. I loved seeing more of Hugh with Chicken, he was hilarious in his seriousness and love for that cat. I loved getting to finally see the queen of the fae and what kind of character she was. I also loved that we had to read the plan Kira came up with as it happened rather than find out beforehand. It made me wonder what was supposed to happen next every step of the way!

Summary:

Kira knows where she wants to be in life, and that’s back on Twenty-Third Street. But her home is still in the process of being repaired, the traitor is still on the loose, and now she as bounty hunters after her. Not to mention that she just got Draven back just to lose him while he goes on the hunt to save his brother. Kira doesn’t want to sit on her hands while her friends are protecting her and the world as they know it. She has to get into the action, especially as people around her go missing. But if she manages to get caught, things could get a whole lot worse for every Idrian on Earth…

Amazing book and series!!!

I enjoyed every second of this book and it was just an incredibly fun story. I have read a lot of fantasy and urban fantasy so I know that this story was great and unique in its own way.

I think this series is perfect especially for people like me who enjoy a nice clean and sweet romance that I felt was paced perfectly not too slow or fast throughout all three books.

However, the plot and story were engaging and kept me entertained the entire time even without the romance there was so many other interesting relationships and struggles the main character had to figure out as well.

My only complaint is this series was so good that I read it too fast! Make sure to start from the first book Dragon Chained. This book was amazing on its own of course but it you want to know what's going on start at the beginning and I promise no regrets reading this series just lots of enjoyable entertaining reading!

Aww I really would’ve liked to give this whole series a five star rating but I have to give this last one a 4.5

I loved it like I did the rest of the books but. Something just felt missing. I honestly couldn’t decide if the plot was dragging or if was too fast paced.

It was an awesome book though. I loved the ending for the side characters. I love how real it was. There was no ‘and they lived happily without another worry, all perfectly ever after’. But there was a ‘and they survived and lived ever after’ so that’s all that matters.

I was just a bit peeved that we didn’t see that much of Kira and Draven together this book. I love romance and book two gave me a whole truckload and more. So I guess I was expecting explosions here too. But yeah it was very much milder compared to all the emotions we dealt with on book two. So I can safely say Dragon Hunted is my favorite of the series.

Such a perfect "crown" to Kira's story arc! I loved how all of the pieces came together, as well as how there's clearly a lot of struggle and rebuilding that many characters are going to be going through in the aftermath of these events. Kira grew up a lot over these three books, and it was gratifying to watch her making decisions with a more mature understanding of herself, of when and how to rely on others and what she should or could tackle on her own.

The theme of family was beautifully drawn throughout the series, but especially in this book; Faris, particularly, became one of my favorite characters.

Some language, violence (battle mostly, but a small amount of depiction of post-torture wounds), and some kisses.

I don't know what to feel right now. This series was just so good! But now it's over. I don't know what to do right now. I just want to keep reading it but there's nothing more to read.

The characters and the relationships in this series were fantastic. The romantic relationships, the friend relationships, the family and found family relationships. There was just so much going on between the characters and it was amazing. I loved getting to know all the characters.

This series made me feel so much. I was emotionally drawn in and captivated by this series for the few days that I binge read it. I could not put it down and it was amazing. I loved every minute of it and I loved how it made me feel.

I could easily see myself rereading this series in the future. And when Haley Ryan publishes any more books, I am just going to immediately read them, no questions asked. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a good Urban Fantasy.

Steam Content: Sweet. Kisses, Hugs and shirtless Draven.

I love the relationships in this series!

Besides the romance, there’s family…Kira has a lot of ground to cover in this book regarding how things are going to stand with her mother, aunt, boyfriend, brothers, friends, and even potential in-laws.

Haley Ryan does an amazing job at bringing everything to conclusion with nuance. The main romance is so much healthier than you find in most books, and secondary character relationships are complex. I love the decisions they make, but I can’t say much else about the people or plot without spoiling the ending.

Go read it, you’ll see...definitely not your typical predictable storyline. So much more realistic and satisfying.

Dragon Crowned returns back to 23rd Street to stir up some more trouble. This book explained a lot of the mysteries that were left unsolved in the other books. It was an incredible adventure that took its twists and turns and definitely threw them for a loop.

The ending of the series for me felt a little abrupt though. I won't go into detail to avoid spoilers but it felt as though there was going to be another book in the story. I do enjoy how it ended because it wrapped everything up nicely but it felt very sudden to me.

I do hope you take the time to read the series because it is well worth your time.

amazing!

Wow!!! What an absolute amazing ending to this trilogy! I’d love to see spin-offs and continuations of these characters, especially with the changes and surprises at the end! Chicken and Waffles are still my fave but I gotta say Faris, Seamus and Hugh have definitely made this one more awesome. I’m still fully Team Draven. But I’d love to see Rath and Wynter, or Skye and Declan and Ryker get something special too! Overall, this was an awesome series and I’m so glad it was a recommendation and that I snatched it up! It was worth every second and I definitely binged the series and couldn’t put it down!!

I’m not sure it deserves to be rated quite as low as 2 stars, but after realizing early on how annoying I found it that the author arranged all of the characters to bow down to Kira’s need for valuing her own ideas and abilities and her own free will so highly, it tainted the rest of the book for me. I also didn’t care for the narration of the final battle scene, because it started out with a little mystery and tension, but then turned into a lot of summary statements, like “this happened” “I felt this” “she did that”. IDK, it was just a bit of a let down even if I was fine with how it all played out.

Satisfying ending

Though I didn't love this book as much as the first two it was a very satisfying ending. There was a lot of separation in the book of Kira and Draven, which I didn't enjoy. I understood the second separation but not the first. My other problem was Rath was described as brown skin in the first book but gray skinned in this one which was a little distracting. I didn't know of it was a mistake or not because some of the fae were odd colors. I did still like the book and would definitely read it again. I also hope there will be spin offs.

Great ending to a great series. Lots of funny lines, good wrap up of the story (though with a lot of openings for other characters to have their own books), a little darker than the previous two. I was impressed by the tragic ending of a character that I assumed would redeem themself but who stayed too true to character to do so. The only thing that could have made this better would have been more one on one time between Draven and Kira-It felt like it was possibly left open to short stories featuring them though.

Loved it! This was a perfect conclusion for the series. Which isn't to say that I wouldn't thoroughly enjoy more stories set in this world.

Suspicions were confirmed, expectations were subverted, and conclusions were more than satisfactory. I flew through this book far too fast and definitely need to reread the entire trilogy from the beginning. I'm dying to know what I didn't catch the first time because I lacked all the pertinent information.

Twists and turns

This trilogy is now over and this last book was full of surprises. It does seem to wrap everything up but I'll miss these guys. The story was very real life. Not everyone makes good choices and some characters definitely make bad choices. I hope for redemption for some of them...maybe more stories?

The romance stayed clean all the way through which makes it seem a lot more real for the deeper emotions.

A packed wrap up

I enjoyed the final book of the trilogy. We got to know some characters better and were introduced to new ones.
The straightforward plots got a lot twistier in this final book and I loved it.

Kira is a fun main character and her growth and the deepening of all her relationships were interesting to see unfold. This book makes you reflect on family and what it means. What it means to love or to be loyal.

A fun read but with interesting broad themes throughout.

One of my favorites!

This was one of the first fantasy series I had ever read and loved it! It is written well, plenty of humor and a dash of romance. It’s a clean read for those looking. This is my second time around and it was just as entertaining as the first time. It will probably stay as one of my favorite series.

Fantastic Finale!

What a journey! This series has been a blast to read, and I loved this final book just as much as the first two. My only complaint is that I wish it had been longer, since I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to all the characters just yet. If Haley Ryan ever decides to write more books on 23rd Street, I'll be there to read them

Dragon Crowned, the third book of the Dragon of 23rd Street series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). Great conclusion to a good series. There wasn't much growth in Kira, although the romance with Draven progressed nicely. Enjoyable characters and a wonderful, fun, light-hearted series with a few surprises to hold a reader's interest.

I liked Kira a lot more in this book. She still drove me crazy with her running away whenever things got hard. But overall I enjoyed this book the most. I liked watching Kira and Dravens relationship grow. This is a clean romance with no spice. Draven is still my favorite. I absolutely loved his character, his loyalty and strength. That being said this is extremely young adult for me.
