There were a few stories that I really enjoyed, but this anthology mostly showed me what authors to avoid to satisfy my reverse harem cravings. I gave it an overall 3-star for a "check out but don't be too amazed" rating. I skipped or wasn't able to finish about half the stories in the anthology. I had originally picked it up due to Stacey Brutger's short story.

Hell's Curse by Eve Newton

I quit reading after chapter 6 when the Hellhound Shifter demon FMC Gaia started making out with her friend in desperation after her other Incubus friend made her super horny due to some supernatural malfunction. This is the 2nd story I've tried to read by the author and failed to finish.

This story is a Demon Princess series prequel, a series that follows the Devil's daughter Gaia from her Demon Queen series. Gaia and her circle of male friends snuck out of Hell to visit a party on Earth on Friday the 13th, and odd supernatural issues occurred once Gaia encountered a mysterious minotaur Protector. Gaia insisted that her friends were just friends, but by the time I quit, you could tell that no, they were meant to be her love interests. Every friend checked off a different supernatural checkbox - no two were the same type of supernatural. The dialogue was dry, and everyone was horny and violent.

Not my cup of tea, and I think I'll avoid this author in the future.

Menace to the Assassins by Stacey Brutger

Tags: reverse-harem, shifters, animal-sidekicks, assassins, gods, elves, hellhounds, sirens, magic, academy, gargoyles

This story takes place after book 4 of the Academy of Assassins series.

Friday the 13th has been drawing closer, when the veils between the world's are thin, and gods are able to interfere in the human realm more than normal. The FMC Morgan had quite a few gods gunning for her after her visit to their realm, and her mates were strategically holing up in the Academy in preparation.

All the characters including Shade and Loki (I love the gardog) made a cameo in this story, and Morgan found out a little more information about her parentage and magic by the end. I felt that Morgan was quite the special snowflake now with the revelation , and it didn't make for a very exciting read. The reverse harem theme was just incidental with mentions of the mating bond -- there was no real intimacy in the story, and it was mostly action-driven. I still plan on checking out the final book in the series for closure though.

I got 4 pages in and couldn't handle any more of the writing. I did not want to read about the unlucky FMC Friday peeing in her pants or thinking she might poo in her pants when talking to her father. Phrases like "shit a duck" and the general immature dialogue were not something I was interested in.

The story came with a trigger warning about attempted suicide.

Mischief Managed by J.E. Cluney
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Tags: reverse-harem, magic, telepaths, vampires, shifters

The story jumped right into the FMC Allison's hormonal craziness and suddenly initiated sexy times. I am not familiar with the author or the Corviticus University series it was set in, so I had absolutely no idea what was going on and what species each mate in the harem was and had to slowly figure it out through context in the later chapters. It also ended quite abruptly once their friend Emma devised a spell to

I might have enjoyed this story more if I had been already familiar with the characters, but on its own as a standalone, it was a very superficial read. By the time I figured out who was what, it had ended. This story is probably best for someone that enjoys pregnancy revelations.

Sweet Lunacy by Avery Stone
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Tags: magic, reverse-harem, gods, shifters, detectives, clairvoyants, vampires, gargoyles

I have no idea what I just read, but the FMC Lucy was quite the special snowflake as a demi-goddess shifter with her boyfriends - one was immortal vampire, another was a gargoyle shifter, and two more that were barely introduced before the snippet ended. The story followed her call to duty by her boss and goddess mother for some important prophesied quest which required her to summon her boyfriends from across the globe for help.

I think this was a sneak peek of a specific book since the whole snippet was labeled as prologue, but the ending linked to the book Rejected Queen. It seemed like I was missing a lot of backstory, but the FMC was a little too much for me with all her special powers that I'm not really interested in reading the rest of the story if this was what the introduction looked like.

Death's Deeds by A.J. Macey & M.J. Marstens
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Tags: fae, reapers, angels, reverse-harem, magic

This story gave us a sneak peek into the Death Fae reaper FMC Arkyn and the men around her who were in her fantasies and hinted at potentially being in her future harem.

The world-building with her personal life and job was pretty interesting, and I think I'll pick up the full book whenever it releases.

My Soul to Keep by Debbie Cassidy
* skipped *

The author is on my avoid list as I haven't enjoyed their writing style or plot development in multiple series. This short story is set in the author's Accords world that starts with the Wolves of Hawthorn Cove series and introduces Nyx in their new Demons of Morningstar series.
---
Bloody Lucky by Cali Mann
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Tags: fae, shifters, academy, new-adult, magic, vampires, ghosts, reverse-harem

The beginning started off well with interesting characters and the introduction of an academy setting, but after the shifter-vampire FMC Marguerite mated with her teacher and were kicked out of the school, the whole story went down the drain. The bullying and insta-lust were over the top, and the contrived manner the lucky rabbit's foot was written in to save the day within a few pages was super awkward.

I'm unclear if this short story is supposed to be expanded into a full novel, but if so, I am not interested.

A Witch's Love by Melissa Adams
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ / DNF
Tags: reverse-harem, magic, academy

I managed to make it through the first chapter where the whole harem was attending some Halloween sorority party, but I had to quit by the time I started the second chapter (out of 5). There was a ton of backstory missing with how the harem originally got together -- apparently the witch FMC Selena hadn't even slept with all of her boyfriends yet? The immature jealousy in the first chapter was not my cup of tea, and I didn't even understand the rules of how Selena was allowed to have multiple boyfriends but wasn't allowed to show interest in other men.

Regardless, the dialogue and writing seemed to need a decent amount of editing. The author liked to break up everything into 4-5 paragraphs and then adding a giant section break in a single scene for no necessary reason. There wasn't a change of setting or POV or anything. I don't think this author is for me and will avoid their writing in the future.

Curses Bite by Ginna Moran
Rating: ★★★★☆
Tags: magic, shifters, slaves, telepaths, vampires, reverse-harem

This short story followed the FMC Isobel as she was exiled from her coven as a powerless witch after helping a female lycan escape slavery from another abusive coven member. While everything was quite fast-burn, I enjoyed the world building and magical society that was detailed. I thought the final battle pulled a little too much of a deux ex machina plot device, but I liked the story overall. I plan on checking out more books by the author set in the world.

Infernally Taken by Jewels Arthur
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Tags: demons, genies, shifters, reverse-harem, vampires, dragons, m-m-romance

It was a little confusing to get all characters straight with their species and background as the story had jumped right in without much of an introduction. The story followed the succubus FMC Mara and her harem of supernaturals as they celebrated Friday the 13th with her best friend Rora who also had her own set of guards she was trying to tempt into bed. Cue lots of smut scenes as the day went on. I also think there was some MM action in a smut scene, but it was so confusingly written that I still didn't understand what was going on when I re-read the details multiple times.

There was a small attempt at character and relationship development, but it was lost on me as I didn't really know how the men had joined the harem to begin with. The short story likely would be paired best with the original Infernal Blade series rather than as a standalone read, even with the spoiler warnings in the preface. As expected, I had already marked the series as *not-interested* in my bookshelves, and this story hasn't changed my mind.

Insurrection R.L. Caulder & M. Sinclair
* skipped *

I already know that I don't like anything that R.L. Caulder has written so far, so I'm not going to bother trying to read this preview of their new book Insurrection.

Lupine: Pigs Might Fly by Hanleigh Bradley
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Tags: shifters, magic, reverse-harem, paranormal, mafia

This short story was set in the Silver Springs orphanage and mainly followed the ex-mafia wolf shifter Camden as he tried to deal with the juvenile witch Catalina and her revenge pranks. The plot didn't really captivate me, and I didn't really like any of the characters involved. Everyone was rather immature, especially with the prank, and the smut scene came out of nowhere. The FMC Lupine was a rather special snowflake as a self-described mafia princess and the head of the orphanage. I'm passing on the main book Lupine and probably the author based on this writing and story line.

Our Lucky Day by Lilith Darville
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ / DNF
Tags: gods, druids, reverse-harem, magic, ghosts, angels, demons

This short story was a prequel to the author's new Masters from Afterlife series. I stopped reading after the huge info-dump from the goddess Queen Hera and the druid priestess Anais and their plan to manipulate the FMC Aleah's fated mate Atroyel in the first chapter (out of 3). I already don't really enjoy manipulation plots, and their bitchy housewives attitudes didn't endear me to them.

Not my cup of tea, and the existing review on the story (renamed to Cassiel's Fantasy) didn't encourage my curiosity either.
---
Unlucky Angels by Cate Corvin
* skipped *

This is a sneak peek to the next generation after the author's Razing Hell series and takes place 10 years after the events of that series.

I never finished the original series after got I bored with finishing the first book, so I skipped this short story as well.
---
Hunting Shadows by Imani L. Hawkins
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Tags: prisons, magic, vampires, demons, shifters, telepaths, amnesia

This sneak peek mostly followed the FMC Lani after she was placed in prison for murdering her husband and the plan by a few powerful supernaturals in the prison to use her fire and metal magic to escape their sentences. Intertwined with the story were a few flashbacks of how she ended up in the prison.

I was really confused at the prison setting since it appeared that inmates were able to use their magic without restrictions, and they were able to go to and from their cells and other cell blocks without guards because they policed each other. What was the point of having assigned cells then? Why wouldn't the inmates just fight to have the best ones?

The writing really needed an editor as I saw quite a few typos, especially with apostrophes. The descriptions like "a body made of murder" were a little silly. The insta-lust from the vampire Alex was a bit much, and it was unbelievable that Lani would allow one to just feed on her just like that given that she was supposed to have been abused by one for an extended period of time. Most of the cast introduced barely got any character development.

The unrealistic behavior and overall writing did not make this a good read for me, and I ended up skimming after I got to chapter 7 (out of 10). Additionally, the story left me hanging on a resolution for any of the plots introduced. It was unclear if the author was releasing a full length novel. As is, while I could guess at the harem members, this was purely a 1:1 relationship and not with multiple men.

Deflated by Mia Harlan & Eva Delaney
Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Tags: shifters, reverse-harem, trolls, vampires, magic

This was a short story that was set in the Silver Springs universe from the Spell Library series. One of the main POVs followed the chameleon shifter Violet and her three mates as they were trying to figure out how to have sexy times with her when kept shifting into random beings she met recently whenever she was turned on. The other half of the story followed the dildo witch Juniper as she had to deal with one of her mates accidentally cursing the town with limp dicks (I'm not lying at this plot).

The attempt at humor in the writing was not my cup of tea, and it honestly took it to the point of absurdity (e.g. dildo shifters, flying dicks, etc.). I had already not really enjoyed the single book I had read in the universe by one of the authors of this short story, so it was kind of expected that I didn't really enjoy this story either. I skimmed it and finished it just to figure out what was going on.

Dahlia 2: With a Side of Fries by Tabitha Barret
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ / DNF
Tags: magic, vampires, necromancers, ghosts, clairvoyants, reverse-harem, shifters, zombies

The introduction blurb indicated this was a sneak peek of another novel from the Silver Springs universe from the Spell Library series - this time following the FMC Dahlia and her mates. Poltergeists invaded Silver Springs, and they had to figure out how to fix the problem.

I already wasn't terribly enthusiastic about reading the story based on my opinion of the previous two stories in this anthology also set in the universe, and after the necromancer Daire started info-dumping his sad history while putting zombies back down, I quit in the middle of chapter 2 (out of 3). Based on this book, I'm not planning on reading any more stories in the Silver Springs universe - the romcom RH theme is not my cup of tea.

First off I love these kind of anthologies as they are a great way to find new authors and also read old favorites. There are so many I really enjoy reading. I was especially looking forward to read Eve her book and Melissa Adams her book as I've waited years to get an ending on Dreaming of You. The antho starts with Eve her story Hell's Curse. It kinda continues from her series Demon Queen and follows her daughter Gaia, demon princess and hellhound shifter. She has all guy friends and they are just friends. But things might change sooner than later. Can Gaia handle being more than friends?

Hotter than hot thing on the surface of the sun and it's helping charity X win-win
So many super steamy books/novellas that you can tell the authors had fun writing. Honestly some of the scenes are beyond hot but cannot stress that here or I will get my review removed. Trust me. Buy it. It's only 99c right now and it's helping a mental health charity so much, so even if you buy it for ONE book, you have 17 free ones X

Loved this Anthology, Love the little insight we get into the books and have a little taste of what is to come.
My favourite sneak peek is from R.L Caulder and M. Sinclair: Insurrection.
This is a preview of chapters 1-3, so definitely activates your taste buds and leaves you wanting more.
Ama is a reaper with a hidden side, her succubus side. She is Princess to the house of death and her father is the king. There is so much to unpack in these three chapters and I cannot wait to read more.

My Recommendation: ★★★★★★★★★★
( I received this book free in exchange for my honest review )

I have to say it's been quite a while since I read a reverse harem book. Let alone a wonderful collection of them all warped in a sexy as hell book cover. Like who is she; can I have her number?

Jokes aside, well, I wouldn't say I liked every single story. I did like every single story at the same time if that makes any sense. Of course, there are tropes clichés littered all over the place, but I had a fun time reading every story. Though they are all different, they all had this connectivity (where you know, you get that feeling after reading a book where you want to read something similar). You will get that fulfilment with this collection.

I find anthologies a little hard to review because there are so many different stories, and by the time I'm done I can't remember what I particularly liked about each one—the joys of having ADHD. But I know that I have discovered new authors, and I will be checking out everyone to see what books they have outside of this collection.

Overall as a whole, this is a very well-done anthology. The opening story pulls you in right away. We're in hell and meeting some sexy demons, who are basically just horny young adults, except they have powers and can kill you with one swipe or their hand.

That dark tone stays through the anthology, and I loved it.

Overall this anthology is worth your time and energy. Especially if you're looking for some short stories to read, say if you're going on holiday and you need something compact. This wonder will keep your mind engaged and have your mind wandering to the deepest parts of the gutter.

So please take my super high recommendation on my sample approval that you will fall in love with this anthology and probably with some naughty demons that you can never have.

Happy Reading

This anthology lineup is brilliant!

Loved seeing this hit my kindle this morning. Who doesn’t love a good giggle and well written RH stories?

Tabitha Barrett - Dahlia
“Tell him at stay away from me, I’m not a lunchable.”

This sneak peek cracked me up! Dahlia, Aiden, Daire and Ian - a necromancer, vampire and two witches. This was such a fun and well written read.

Insurrection - R.L. Caulder & M. Sinclair
“She was more ‘dead’ than she was alive, and that was prized here in the House of Death. Shocking, right?”

Amare, her father literally the Grim Reaper 🤣, again this little glimpse into the first chapters was fun.

I need more!

If you are looking for an anthology filled with standalone short stories then this isn’t the book for you. If you are looking for an anthology featuring introductions to new upcoming books, or stories tied to previously released books then this book is for you. As I haven’t read each series connected to some of these stories I found myself lost at times. However, the introduction to new works in progress has whet my appetite for upcoming releases.

Into The Dark is a great anthology with a collection of stories from paranormal reverse harem readers. I’ve only read a couple of stories from this collection, but I’ll definitely be reading more.

There’s also the beginning of new series, with a number of the stories just offering the first few chapters aka sample chapters of upcoming novels.

Great Anthology

This was a pretty cool anthology. Definitely loved J.E. Cluney's story as I've read all her Corviticus University series so that was an awesome read. Loved the first three chapters of R.L. Caulder and M. Sinclair's new book. Definitely want more of Eve Newton's story. I read some stories from authors I hadn't read before and look forward to reading more of their work. Great Anthology all around.

RATING: 3.5 / 5 ⭐
GENRE: Paranormal, Fantasy
TYPE: Anthology
STORIES: 18 stories (760+ pages)
Will I re-read it? Yes, I might re-read some of the stories.
This anthology was read on Kindle and hence, number of pages might differ from other versions/readers.

So, a lot of these stories has Friday the 13th as a theme and some of them contains demons and others’ gods, goddesses, shifters, vampires and magic elements. Overall, it’s a really nice anthology where several stories are written with a great dose of humor. A few of them made me interested in reading more from some of the authors.

Short review for each story below.

Hell’s Curse (c. 47 pages) by Eve Newton.
Demon Princess Series Prequel
Rating: 3 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 1.5 / 5 🔥
Gaia, a princess of hell, goes to Earth for a party on Friday the 13th but nothing goes according to plan.
A well written prequel that includes demons and the underworld. It made me somewhat interested in reading more from this series (first book will be out in April 2022). A series about Gaia’s mother, the Devil, is already out and I might check that in as well. There were a lot of names and people in this story which made it a bit hard to follow but it was manageable.

Menace to the Assassins (c. 50 pages) by Stacey Brutger.
An Academy of Assassins Novel: Book 5 – Short story
Rating: 2 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 0 / 5 🔥
Morgan’s magic gets stronger and suddenly, she’s hunted by the Goddess of War.
I haven’t read the Academy of Assassins series which made this story a bit hard to follow. It is well written, but I think that you need to read the previous books in this series to enjoy this short story fully. It contains Gods, Goddesses and shifters amongst other supernatural creatures.

Friday (c. 44 pages) by Amelia K. Oliver & Eileen Troemel.
Rating: 2 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Friday, the thirteenth child of Lucifer, gets her first task which is collecting three souls which doesn't go according to plan.
This story includes demons, the devil and hell. I had a hard time with this story, mainly because the female character was so childish. Some things were written to be comical but it fell flat for me.

Mischief Managed (c. 19 pages) by J.E. Cluney.
Short story with characters from the Corviticus University series
Rating: 2.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Allison experiences food cravings and mood swings which triggers her mischief magic.
I haven’t read the series before so I couldn’t enjoy this story fully. Mainly because I couldn't connect with the characters (warlocks, shifters etc.). But it was a quick and fun read even though some details had to be overlooked.

Sweet Lunacy (c. 23 pages) by Avery Stone.
Rating: 2 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Lucy needs to summon all her “boyfriends” to save the world.
Hmm, this was a short teaser and it felt like it ended when the action was about to start. I don’t think this is written as a full book yet but I saw that the author is planning on writing this as a possible standalone. I would like to read more of this story even though it felt a bit over the top with some details (Goddesses, shifters, powers etc.).

Death’s Deeds (c. 26 pages) by A.J. Macey & M.J. Marstens.
Glitter & Ghosts series, Book #1 - Sneak Peek
Rating: 4 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 0.5 / 5 🔥
A death fae is contemplating her life in the afterlife and how to avoid all the men who surrounds her.
I really loved this sneak peek and can’t wait for the book to be published (but I don’t know when…aaaahhh). It takes place in the afterlife which was super interesting. I want to know what’s going to happen with the female character and the men around her that seems to have an interest in her (I can smell a good reverse harem). Oh, and the female character is so full of anger and irritation and seems to be blind at what other people think of her which I actually liked.

My Soul to Keep (c. 39 pages) by Debbie Cassidy.
A short story set in the Accords world
Rating: 3.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Nyx, a half demon bounty hunter, gets a special job offer that doesn’t go according to plan.
This short story really got me interested in reading more and I can’t wait for the book Demon Throne that will kick of Nyx’s destiny and continue this story. I also hope we get to read more about the demon Sin as well because he seems like a very interesting character.

Bloody Lucky (c. 31 pages) by Cali Mann.
A short story connected to the Thornbriar Academy series
Rating: 2.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Margarite has bad luck. Like really, really bad luck. But it all changes when she finds a rabbit foot.
This story was a nice read (includes shifters, vampires etc.). A bit rushed but understandable when it’s so short but the author did manage to put a lot in those 30-ish pages, including a happy ending.

A Witch’s Love (c. 70 pages) by Melissa Adams.
Dreams
Rating: 2 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Selena, a witch, is exploring her relationships with her boyfriends but starts getting troubled dreams.
I was confused a lot during my read of this story and it felt like I’ve missed something. After some time on Google, I discovered that this story might be a continuation in the Dreams series that has one book published (Dreaming Of You) which explained my confusion. I would recommend reading the first book before this one because otherwise it will be hard to get into. For me, it was just jumpy in both the conversations between characters, as well as the storyline.

Curses Bite (c. 38 pages) by Ginna Moran.
Blood Forest Vampires, A Short Story
Rating: 3 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
The witch Isobel goes against her own coven and gets exiled and stripped of her magic.
I liked this short story and might read more from this Universe (which contains witches, vampires and lycans). It was a little bit rushed but eventful for being under 40 pages. I’m glad that it ended quite happily.

Infernally Taken (c. 32 pages) by Jewels Arthur.
Bonus story from the Infernal Blade series
Rating: 4 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 3.5 / 5 🔥
Mara and her mates, that are shifters and demons, are planning a Friday the 13th party.
I haven’t read anything from this series before, but it wasn’t a problem for this short story. It’s a quick and dirty read and I might check in the series!

Insurrection (c. 25 pages) by R.L. Caulder & M. Sinclair.
Monarchs of Hell, Book #1 - Chapter 1-3
Rating: 4 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 0 / 5 🔥
Amare is the only daughter to the grim reaper but is unfortunately, a half breed which isn't popular amongst the other reapers.
Oooh, I really liked this short teaser from the book Insurrection. Well written and interesting and I might dive into this series!

Lupine: Pigs might fly (c. 32 pages) by Hanleigh Bradley.
A short story from the series about Lupine
Rating: 2.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 1.5 / 5 🔥
In an orphanage in Silver Springs, a prank war starts with a witch casting spells.
This story takes place in the same village as the stories Deflated and Dahlia 2... below. It was a quick and fun read and if you want something easy with a comical approach, the stories in this world might be it for you.

Our Lucky Day (c. 26 pages) by Lilith Darville.
Masters from Afterlife Prequel
Rating: 3.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 3 / 5 🔥
Two godlike women interfere to save the Chosen against a demon lord.
I liked this short story that I think is kind of a prequel for the Masters from Afterlife series. It is a short and quick read with a lot of steam (3 whole scenes). It definitely got me interested in reading the first book in the series which will continue the story after this short prequel.

Unlucky Angels (c. 27 pages) by Cate Corvin.
A sneak peek at the next generation from the series Razing Hell
Rating: 2.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Melisande accidentally releases a trapped angel hunter that now wants to hunt her.
I haven’t read anything from the series Razing Hell which made this short story a bit hard to follow sometimes. But it is well written, takes place in the underworld/hell and I saw that the series has quite good reviews so I might check it in!

Hunting Shadows (c. 67 pages) by Imani L. Hawkins.
A taste of the book Carnage: A Prison Paranormal Romance (Supernatural Inmates Book #1)
Rating: 2.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 1 / 5 🔥
Lani finds herself in a prison for the supernatural after she killed her husband.
I thought this would be a “full” story, but it is not. The title is also a bit confusing since the author has one book with the same title, but it is a completely different story. The story itself is interesting but it doesn’t go anywhere because around 50% of the story is flashbacks from the female character's life. I understand why the flashbacks exists, but it also left me a bit disappointed when the story just ended (didn’t know it was a kind of a teaser for the full book). A few editing errors and a bit jumpy in the story. I don’t know if I will read the longer version (123 pages).

Deflated (c. 75 pages) by Mia Harlan & Eva Delaney.
Rating: 3.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 3 / 5 🔥
Violet needs help with losing her virginity but nothing goes according to plan and suddenly, the whole town suffers from erectile dysfunction.
So, this is a fun and dirty read and it’s very comical. I did read it with a smile on my face. If you are looking for something with a serious plot, and if you don’t like to read the word c*ck all the time, then this is not the story for you. Even if this is not part of a series, there is more books from this multi-author "village/world/universe".

Dahlia 2: With a Side of Fries (c. 35 pages) by Tabitha Barret.
Excerpt, set in the Silver Springs multi-author world series
Rating: 3 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Dahlia and her mates experiences an angry Poltergeist.
I really like this multi-author universe (Silver Springs). This was a quick and easy read which included shifters, witches and necromancers. I might not read the full version of this story but I will check in the books from this universe.

A great introduction to aspiring authors

This will be a lengthy review since there’s 18 books in this anthology and I want to give my thoughts on them all individually. I will do my best not to give any spoilers.

Book 1 Hell’s Curse by Eve Newton
This is an introduction to a book coming out in April of 2022 and I am excited to see where it goes, you get 17 chapters so the characters are well developed and the story is exciting to read.
Book 2 Menace to the Assassins: An Academy of Assassins Novel by Stacey Brutger ( book 5 novella)
Since this is the 5th book in a series it was hard for me to follow because I haven’t read the previous books. It’s not a bad story it just would have been better if I had knowledge of the characters.
Bk 3 Friday by Amelia K. Oliver & Eileen Troemel
This is my first book by either of these authors and it was an excellent introduction to their writing styles.
Bk 4 Mischief Managed by J.E. Cluney
This is an outtake from the Corviticus University series and it’s hilarious! I absolutely love Cluney’s writing style she makes me laugh out loud.
Bk 5 Sweet Lunacy by Avery Stone
This was one of my least favorite because the characters weren’t well developed and I couldn’t get a feel for the story.
Bk 6 Death’s Deeds ( Glitter & Ghosts Bk 1 ) by A.J.Macey & M.J. Marstens
This is a sneak peak for a release coming in winter of 2021, I didn’t find a preorder for this one but I’m definitely going to be looking for it. It was intriguing.
Bk 7 My Soul to Keep by Debbie Cassidy
This was another one that was a nice introduction but not enough for me to want to read more.
Bk 8 Bloody Lucky by Cali Mann
This was a first for me from this author too, I really liked this concept and the characters.
Bk 9 A Witch’s Love by Melissa Adams
AMAZING! I made a note to look for this book, that’s how much I enjoyed it.
Bk 10 Curses Bite Blood Forest Vampires by Ginna Moran
This was another opportunity for me to find another great author. I enjoyed everything about this; plot, characters, story line, etc.
Bk 11 Infernally Taken by Jewels Arthur
This is an outtake from the Infernal Blade Series and even though I haven’t read that series I could get a feel for the characters and didn’t feel lost while reading it, she warns of spoilers but I cannot say if they’re there or not.
Bk 12 Insurrection by R.L. Caulder & M. Sinclair
You get the first 3 chapters of Monarchs of Hell series. It sucked me in and I have preordered this one!
Bk 13 Lupine: Pigs Might Fly by Hanleigh Bradley
If you’re familiar with the Silver Springs Series then you’re familiar with this character ( if not definitely read the series). This is just another hilarious adventure in Lupine’s life and well worth your time.
Bk 14 Our Lucky Day by Lilith Darville
This one was just kind of meh for me, I found it to be a bit confusing so I didn’t really have much thought for it.
Bk 15 Unlucky Angels by Cate Corvin
Apparently this is part of the Razing Hell Series and that’s about all I can tell you. I was completely lost you definitely need to read the series for this one.
Bk 16 Hunting Shadows by Imani L. Hawkins
I question if this is the beginning of a new series or part of another. The characters seemed forced into a relationship and not well developed. The concept was great but it was in serious need of a proofreader. I signed up for the authors newsletter just so I can ask about this one.
Bk 17 Deflated by Mia Harlan & Eva Delaney
Again I say read the Silver Springs Series, this has Violet and Juniper as our main characters along with some supporting ones. It will make you laugh and shake your head at the antics in this one.
Bk 18 Dahlia 2 With a Side of Fries by Tabitha Barret
This is an excerpt from the full book by the same name and it’s well worth the read.

Overall I would recommend this anthology to give you a chance to find new authors. There was only a couple I found that I didn’t like.

Oh my lucky charms! I love this anthology of fantasy romance. It has a variety of lengths of stories: there are some short stories, some previews of novels, and a couple of short novellas. I'm adding more books to my To Be Read list, and I plan on re-reading some, too. I recognize several authors, and this is my first foray into a couple of new (to me) writers.

So far I have read "Deflated" by Mia Harlan and Eva Delaney. It's HILARIOUS. This story should be read after Mia's book, Violet, and Eva's book, Juniper. There's a couple of issues that Violet, Juniper, and even Sapphire are dealing with. Poor Violet has spent the last year trying to be intimate with her mates, but her shifting goes haywire every time they try. When she finally girds up her loins and visits The Magical Rooster for help, a spell is accidentally cast that causes all the "swords and staffs" in Silver Springs to deflate (go limp).

I was laughing out loud at everyone's antics. I was excited to see Bob and - gasp! - nobody told him, "Not now, Bob.". I'm so happy with these two authors working their mojo together. I'm excited to see what they do next.

It's going to take a while to catch up on all of these stories. I look forward to it.

A bit of a mixed bag, really. I mainly bought this because I follow Debbie Cassidy and the promise of something new from her was enough to entice me.

As always, Debbie Cassidy hit the spot, writing something with a decent pace that made me very interested in the upcoming book.

For the others, it's hard to say. There were a lot of Eve Langlais-esque stories, which I'm just not too sure about. They can sometimes work, when you're in the mood for something that doesn't take itself seriously and is just a brief agent to connect the erotica scenes. But I've been reading Debbie Cassidy precisely because that's the opposite of how she writes: it may be Reverse Harem, but it's very good writing with strong premises and well built out worlds.

There might be 2-3 authors that I'll give a shot outside of this series, but across the board, I wouldn't say this anthology was a great success with me.

In any case, the money goes to charity, so it's all to a good end.

If steamy is what you’re going for, this is the book for you! It’s full of short stories that will have you melting. Each short story that I’ve read was unique and fun. I had a bit of confusion because there were some stories I couldn’t tell if they were standalone stories or if they were slight continuations/epilogues. As I’m not familiar with the works of some authors involved, it was a little difficult to tell.

Admittedly, I haven’t read all the stories; however, the ones that I have read, such as Hell’s Curse by Eve Newton or Mischief Managed by J.E. Cluney or Hunting Shadows by Imani L. Hawkins (just to name a few) were thoroughly entertaining and I was interested in reading more of their work. Anthologies aren’t typically my go-tos and I’m discovering that I like reverse harems.

Got to go read some of the other stories!

Outstanding anthology. Not a weak story in the bunch. So many top authors all together for a great cause- Mental health charity. I especially liked Stacey Brutgers Assassins story and look forward to more in one of my favorite series. I also loved Deflated by Mia Mia Harlan and Eva Delaney it was hysterical. Jewels Arthur’s Infernal story and Cali Mann’s Thornbriar spin-off story were also excellent. Not to mention Debbie Cassidys story which made me want more.

These are just a few of the truly excellent stories in this anthology. You truly can’t go wrong. Definitely recommend.

Hot and Haunting

Into the Dark: A Superstitious Reverse Harem Romance Anthology, has some of my favorite fun authors.

JE Cluney, AJ Macey and MJ Marstens, Debbie Cassidy, Cali Mann, Ginna Moran, Jewels Arthur, RL Caulder and M Sinclair, Hanleigh Bradley, Lilith Darville, Mia Harlan and Eva Delaney, and Tabitha Barret are all familiar to me authors that have made me smile, laugh, tear-up, and blush.

Plus I enjoyed reading more new-to-me authors in this anthology, too!

Into the dark - Wow!

This book is a collection of well written highly entertaining adult reads. Debbie Cassidy takes us into a world of hunters. We also return to Silver Springs and the Magical Rooster with Juniper and Violet. Other stories are included and all are wonderful short reads. Highly enjoyable. Definitely a must read.

Mix

Bought for the sneak peel into the A.J Macey colab and can't wait to see where that goes. There's a real mix of stories here and some can only be read if you've read the others in a series

Really enjoyed some stories and took note of those authors. Others I had to skip through. I'm not a fan of YA stories (tend to be too whiny) and there are what I would consider YA in this anthology. Overall this compilation introduced to me to some interesting authors .

DNF at 54%. These stories are just .... awful. No proofing whatsoever, and just very juvenile writing. I didn't really even finish reading half the stories up to the 54% mark, I just kept going to the next one, hoping that MAYBE that one would be better and justify all of the good reviews.
