⁣⁣
'Don't Fall In Love, Sam' is a series of short personal essays, which takes the reader on a journey of a young, gay man's exploration of self, body/image, identity, sex, sexuality, and existing as a real person in the digital age. It resonates with the millennial, initially, but extends to the human experience of life, and love gained and lost. Morris' words are a truly emotional read for any queer person finding their way in this world.

I finally had a chance to pick up your book this morning and I have to admit I was not able to put it down until I finished it.

After reading this quote “ I would love them with all my might, so much so, it was like showing love to a butterfly by grasping it in a closed fist ” you had my whole hearts attention.

The way you write is so vulnerable, raw and poetic. You touched on so many subjects that so many individuals are too afraid to even recognize within themselves, yet alone write them into a published book. Thank you for trusting us the reader with your pain, lust, fears, love and happiness.

I personally related to so many of your stories that it felt super validating to my journey and emotions. I also appreciate how much you talk about the things that bring you anxiety as I feel there are not enough conversations happening around this subject.

The journey through these stories, songs and poems have truly been a gift. I honestly can’t remember the last time I haven’t been able to put a book down. I hope that this is the first of many books you publish. Your vulnerability, and resilience is truly inspiring and has touched my heart so deeply.

This book allows you to be part of the highs and lows not just in Sam's work but in his life. This book is refreshing and honest, it has allowed me to glimpse into world that's very different to my own. Keep falling in love Sam.

This was a quick, touching read. I saw so much of myself in Sam that it was painful to read at times but I couldn’t bring myself to put it down. This was the unabashed, queer memoir I didn’t know I needed. My secret Santa got it right!

“I love love, but I don’t feel like I deserve it. I miss it when I think I have it. I miss love while I love it. I fear love just as much as I love it. Love is beautiful, but love is terrifying.”

This book was an incredible read that offers a relatable and approachable perspective to the universal experience of longing for, searching for, and learning from love. I found myself examining my own perspective and understanding of love and the relationships in my life, but also the love that I give to myself. Sam presents a raw, unfiltered, yet romantic and poetic approach to navigating life, and communicates these ideas through a variety of different literary styles and techniques. This was a remarkable read, and one that I will surely come back to!

Not only are these stories honest, tender and painful but they are also funny. With a dark humour and unique outlook on life, each of these stories provide a raw insight into Sam's life.
I also enjoyed the charming illustrations that accompany each chapter.

This book really touched my heart. I could feel the journey that Sam went through during the book and I really resonated with multiple sections of the book. The 'Flaws' chapter was brilliant. The layout of the book really matched the tone and style as well.

Nothing new. So many repetitive unnecessary sex scenes that I don’t care about. The whole book is just like a collection of Reddit posts. I learned nothing from it.

It’s really a waste of time and money.

I would love them with all my might, so much so, it was like showing love to a butterfly by grasping it in a closed fist.
Like reading an average gay man's journal (middling poetry, mundane insights, and lots of sex). It lacks perspective or a point of view, and the most interesting aspect that could make this stand out in relation to certain other novels (Morris' job as sex worker), is barely there. Maybe his more recent novel is better. Will check it out.

A voice that needs to be heard- empowering young gay men to share their stories if not just letting us know we are not alone. A must read for anyone who is feeling lonely- because let me tell you, you’re not and this book proves it.

An emotional, somewhat raw short memoir from Sam Morris. Scattered with some beautiful poems and personal stories from his life. Very beautiful writing
