“Once Upon a Trowbridge”, the prequel in this compilation was a quick and enjoyable read. A marriage secured by their parents, Miss Margaret Hollyoak and George Townsbridge are headed for the alter. Although there is angst between the main characters, for all purposes Lord Townsbridge is seen as a kind person but clearly misread by Miss Hollyoak. The H/h are likeable people stubborn in their own ways. I loved the banter between the two and how they allowed their relationship to slowly build to one of love.

“When Love Leads to Scandal” is one novella that I totally liked in this series. What do you get when the groom is always absent and a best friend who is left to be attentive to the bride…undeniable attraction and love? Charles Townsbridge knows he should not want the affections of his best friend’s bride but when he and Lady Bethany find themselves drawn together too many times under unavoidable circumstances…the growing passion they feel gets in the way of friendship and duty.

“Lady Abigail’s Perfect Match”...Lady Abigail and James Townsbridge get caught in a compromising position in the wrong room and the wrong time in which consequences lead to scandal and marriage of inconvenience. Abby believes James to be a stuck up gentleman and James believes Abby to a pomp and circumstance lady in society. Unfortunately, misperceptions they have towards one another gives them an opportunity to explore their faults and lead them on a path to understanding and growing love.

“A Duke for Miss Townsbridge” …Sarah Townsbridge has been offered a chance of a lifetime. Having had an offer of marriage from the Matthew Donovan, the Duke of Brunswick you would think she would jump at the chance; however she turns down his proposal and seeks to finding out move about this elusive Duke that lives next door. Matthew loves his reclusive life…one that has him broken inside and never wanting his heart to experience love again…that is until he must have Sarah no matter what the cost. When they decide to spend time together, the walls that Matthew has carefully constructed to protect his heart slowly falls when Sarah offers him love.
Until
“An Unexpected Temptation”…The last story in this compilation that deals with Athena Townsbridge. Having regretted ruining the marriage of Robert Carlisle, the Marquess of Darlington, she sets out to make wrongs right. It is unfortunate that upon meeting Robert who has been in seclusion for six years, a blizzard traps the two together and in the process, they grown to understanding one another. Misery loves company…I think not because the company they share leads them to a lovely relationship and one of love.

I totally loved every story compiled in “The Townbridge’s Series”. They were entertaining and delightful reads. I especially love the tropes of where you had enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, love at first sight, and love in different social classes. Loveable reads that I recommend.

Thank you NetGalley, author Sophia Barnes, and publisher for giving me a free arc copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
5 stars
This book has each book in the Townsbridge's series.
The following stories are included in this amazing volume:
Once Upon a Townsbridge Story (The Townsbridges, #0.5)
George and Margaret are spending together upon their parents request. Margaret is not sure he is the man for her due to his reputation as a rake. George sees beyond Margaret's first lie and falls for her. If only he can convince her he is more than his reputation and her perfect match?
This novella was short and sweet!
I really enjoyed the author's writing style. She was able to draw me into this story from their very first meeting. I loved their wit and banter that kept drawing them into conversations that broke down their assumptions about each other. I was glad the characters were open and honest with their misunderstanding. The ending was very satisfactory and sets up the plot for the next books in this series!
When Love Leads To Scandal (The Townsbridges, #1)
I just had to devour this novella!
Charles loves nothing more that to take leisurely walks in the park in the early mornings. While on one of his usual walks, he happens upon a young woman chasing her bonnet across the park. He helps her by stopping the bonnet and returning it to the young woman. Upon making her acquaintance, Charles is instantly struck by her and has a desire to learn more about her. He will get his wish a few days later when Charles once again meets the young woman that has consumed his mind over the past couple of days, she is none other than Lady Bethany Andrews, the daughter of an Earl and her mother is American, betrothed to his best friend Robert!
I really enjoyed getting to see Charles and Bethany falling in love despite the unfortunate circumstances of her being engaged to marry his best friend. Charles seemed to genuinely like Bethany for who she was and even encouraged her to pursue a career that was not socially acceptable for women! Bethany was a wonderful character. She wanted to do the right thing even if it meant giving up on a marriage for love rather than a marriage of convenience. Robert was a bit of an enigma. He seemed to just want to marry Bethany because she was available and had a sizable dowry. He was cold and often just seemed to find the whole marriage thing something one was expected to do as a member of the upper-class. It seemed to him any woman with the right amount of money and breeding would do. I found I did not feel sorry for him at all for the way things turned out. Overall, I was glad Bethany and Charles got their HEA!
Lady Abigail's Perfect Match (The Townsbridges, #2)
TW: Kidnapping and attempted sexual assault
Lady Abigail has been infatuated with Mr. James Townsbridge for three years. But when she is finally introduced to him, she finds him arrogant and rude. Unfortunately, this doesn’t stop her heart from racing or her stomach from flip-flopping while in his presence. In fact, being near him makes her feel somewhat physically ill. James doesn’t like the aloof young lady to whom he has recently been introduced. And since he has a blistering headache (hangover), he doesn’t have the patience for someone who clearly doesn’t want to be in his company. But when she literally lands in his lap and he accidentally rips her gown, his duty is clear. Can an accidental clothing malfunction that led to a marriage of convenience turn into a love match?
This was story had so many wonderful awkward moments that had me laughing out loud and then had so many sweet and tender moments between Abigail and James. I loved how much they were able to communicate after their barriers came down around each other. James and Abigail's relationship developed in a very realistic way that had me grinning during their moments together. The ending had me flipping pages so fast to see what the outcome would be. While this couple does get their HEA it is not without difficulties.
Falling for Mr. Townsbridge (The Townsbridges, #3)
William Townsbridge, the third son of Viscount Rexley. He recently returned home from Lisbon and encounters Eloise Lamont, his family’s recently hired cook, in their kitchen late one night and is enchanted by the beautiful and boldness of this young woman.
Can Mr. Townsbridge find love within a multi course meal?
This author keeps amazing me by creating such wonderful stories and characters within just right around 100 pages. Their romance was light and sweet, but a bit too rushed due to the length of this novella. I did enjoy the dinner roll scene the best! I love when a heroine can put the hero in his place rather than believing the hero can walk on water.
A Duke for Miss Townsbridge (The Townsbridges, #4)
Could Sarah find love with the Duke next door?
Sarah is the caregiver/fixer within the family. Over the years, she has witness each of her brothers find their HEA, now might it be her turn?
Matthew is a man that has a painful past. Willing to close off his heart from love, he asked Sarah to marry him knowing she will be the perfect woman to marry due to the fact he has no intentions of loving her. But all does not go to plan as she turns down his offer of marriage. Determined to marry Sarah, he plots to do all he can to gain Sarah's hand.
Sarah was a wonderfully warm and sweet character. I liked how she saw Matthew for who he was and what he needed was a woman that could heal his heart. It took some time for me to warm up to Matthew, but after reading about his painful past, I wanted to give him a hug. Their courtship was fun and light. This was a couple I was rooting for to find their HEA in a marriage full of love.
An Unexpected Temptation (The Townsbridges #5)
This is the fifth and final book in this amazing series. Athena's story was the one I was looking forward to ever since she made a big splash at her sister's wedding at the age of 14.
Now six years later, Athena has see all her siblings find their own HEA, but where is hers? Thinking the only way to move forward is to make a trip to Robert Carlisle's home and apologies for breaking up his wedding. Robert Carlisle has not been seen in public for close to six years, with two failed engagements, Robert is not willing to seek out a wife any time soon. But that is about to change, when Athena shows up unexpectedly at his home. The last time Robert saw Athena she was a troublesome girl that ran wild, but standing before him is no longer a girl, but a beautifully strong woman, who still stirs his angry from the past humiliation, but also the desires of a man. When a sudden blizzard leaves her stranded at his home, he is able to discover she has not only a playful side, but he does as well. Can he tame her wild side and make her his?
Athena has been by far my favorite character throughout this series. She is so strong and care free. I loved how she was not the typical woman born in privilege, but was willing to speak her mind! I loved the relationship that developed between Athena and Robert Carlisle. Robert was exactly the kind of man Athena needed. He was willing to let her be herself and yet protect her from harm or censor from society. The ending was wonderfully sweet and very satisfying!
Each book was so good and light hearted. The characters were well developed and likeable! I was able to fly through this volume in a matter of days due to each story being not only shorter than 150 pages, but also the engaging nature of each story! Overall, if you are fans of light heart regency romances, this volume of stories is for you! I can't wait to read author Sophie Barnes's back log of works!

There are some social errors in the book. A Duke🐺🍆⛲💪 is always addressed as Your Grace, or Duke, his title is above all others except a Prince or the King 👑. Lesser titles are addressed as Lords.
There were also a number of places where modern phrases were used. I reviewed this from the ARC copy and don't know if the errors were corrected before publishing.

I loved💕 this story!

How George & Margaret Townsbridge, and their 3 sons and 2 daughter find true love and happy marriages.

This Box Set is Sophie Barnes six book series about the betrothal and happy marriages of their parents and the five Townsbridge siblings, three brothers and two sisters. The stories are wonderful with terrific well developed real characters. The plots are superbly engaging, very entertaining, and illustrate that Ms. Barnes is an exceptionally talented writer. What a generous gift to have this whole saga in one collection. Scandal seems to follow this family and these stories will delight you as you read all about how they overcome them. You will find strong emotion, humor, surprises, heartache and love in these pages. Each story draws you in, captures your imagination and your sympathies. This is a wonderful addition to any romance library!

Once Upon A Townsbridge Story
George and Margaret
Loved it! This is a sweet story. Margaret and George’s parents arranged to introduce their children with the hopes of making a match. Margaret was less than thrilled, as George has a negative reputation. People are not always what they seem. When she put her prejudice aside, she realized that he was the man for her. George is just yummy...handsome, smart, kind, funny and genuine. This story is romantic, engaging and fun.

When Love Leads to Scandal
Bethany and Charles
Bethany meets Charles the day after she accepts Robert’s marriage proposal. Of course there is a spark between them, and since Robert and Charles are friends, they find themselves together often. Even though Robert in an inattentive fiance, Bethany will not call off the wedding and cause a scandal. The anguish Charles and Bethany feel is palpable, but neither one wants to hurt Robert, even at the expense of their own happiness. This is a wonderfully told story that will have you holding your breath and hoping for a happy ending.

Lady Abigail’s Perfect Match
Abigail and James
Wow! Abigail has been enthralled by James since the first time she saw him. Three years later they find themselves in a compromising situation requiring them to marry. James was not thrilled about it and Abigail was too nervous to speak to him. Meanwhile Tobias, her brother’s friend whom Abigail had known for years, kept showing up wherever they went. James and Abigail had a breakthrough before the wedding, but then things took a disasterous turn. This book will certainly keep your attention. Emotions are raw, misunderstandings are rampant, and a happy ending is jeopardized.

Falling For Mr. Townsbridge
In this delightful novella, William, the third son of a Viscount, falls in love with his parents’ cook. Of course, it takes him a while to figure out that he loves her, and that is where the fun comes in. This is a quick, light, well written respite from the pressures of your day.

A Duke for Miss Townsbridge
Sarah and Matthew
Well this is another wonderful addition to The Townsbridges series. Sarah is unexpectedly proposed to by a duke to whom she has never been introduced, even though his estate borders hers. She refuses him, and that only makes him more determined to have her. She discovers the tragedy he suffered as a youth and decides she will help him heal. What follows is a cat and mouse game where the stakes are high and neither one of them intends to lose. It is well written, has wonderdul characters and will engage your emotions.

An Unexpected Temptation
Athena and Robert
Ah, the finale. A wrong is made right. Athena stopped Robert’s wedding six years ago when she objected due to the bride and her beother being in love. Obviously, this caused a rift between families, and at the age of twenty, Athena wanted to apologize. She forces Robert to listen to her and gets trapped wt his estate due to a blizzard. During that time things changed. Robert was furious and riduculed by society when he was jilted at the altar. Between that and his father’s death leaving him with debts to pay, the last thing he wanted to deal with was Athena. However, he was not prepared for his visceral reaction once he saw her. There are quite a few adorable moments, some fiery exchanges and a whole lot of healing taking place in this book. The epilogue wraps up the series beautifully!

I loved this epic family romance series!

This collection of Regency romances is absolutely superb! Every story is a winner, and while they each are standalone romances, they are beautifully interconnected so they read as one amazing family saga. The first book gives us Margaret and George's romance, while the next five jump ahead a few decades to chart the love lives of each of their five children.

Once Upon a Townsbridge Story starts off with a "famous last words" set up as Margaret declares she will never marry George. His patient pursuit of her anyway gives him time to show her his true character rather than the rumors she'd heard. The delightful writing style infuses each scene with humor and wit, bringing out the personalities of each character while developing a strong, insightful look at the societal expectations and standards of the day.

When Love Leads to Scandal tells the story of Charles and Bethany. Bethany accepts Robert's proposal right before she meets his best friend, Charles, and the attraction between Charles and Bethany is complicated by Robert's asking Charles to escort Bethany in his stead because he's too preoccupied by his business interests. This is a gentle story, where each one is trying to do the right thing, despite the sacrifices. The way it's resolved not only gives us a wonderful HEA but also brilliantly sets up a future story.

Lady Abigail's Perfect Match is the second Townsbridge son, James. She's had a crush on him for a few years, which has the unfortunate result of making her tongue-tied in his presence. After an awkward encounter puts them in a compromising position, a forced marriage leads to a greater understanding between them. Happiness is delayed by a traumatic event however, and I absolutely adored James as he helped Abigail through the difficult weeks of recovery.

Falling for Mr. Townsbridge matches the youngest son, William, with the family's new French cook, Eloise. She's not entirely what she seems, and while William is exactly who he appears to be, he still has a few obstacles to overcome in his pursuit of her. Theirs is a delightful game of chase, right up to "caught you" scene where they finally get everything right.

A Duke for Miss Townsbridge, Matthew, stuns all of society by proposing to Sarah the instant he meets her. Her immediate refusal doesn't sway him from his decision in the slightest, even while his continued pursuit of her forces him to examine his history and past trauma. Sarah is wonderfully patient with him, and I really loved how tender and sweet this story turned out to be. Their triumphant HEA was best of the bunch.

An Unexpected Temptation is what Athena presents to Robert when she insists on tracking him down to apologize for her part in his scandal from six years earlier. Robert is stunned by the now grown Athena, and even more stunned by his attraction to her. Theirs is a bit of a whirlwind romance, but considering the many years they've known each other it makes perfect sense after all.

The epilogue at the end was the perfect cherry on top of this delicious set of stories. I love stories with strong family values and HEAs all around, and this set is all that and more. Each story has plenty of passion and chemistry between the lovers, while saving the truly intimate scenes for the wedding nights of each couple.

I'm thrilled that I was able to read all these wonderful romances in this one set, and I highly recommend it for anyone who loves historical romances. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

*I received a free ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review*

I had read the later books as singles and was so happy to get to go back to the beginning to read the earlier stories (and to reread the later ones). As I was reading these again I realized why I love these stories - the characters actually talk to one another. Sure there are misunderstandings and hurt feelings at times, but rather than what often happens in these types of stories these characters talk through their problems and never lose faith in one another.

George & Margaret - Even though neither was exactly excited to be thrown together by their parents they kept open minds and were willing to give each other a chance (George was much more willing at the beginning, but Margaret comes around). She insults his pride and he wants to go off in a huff, but he listens to her concerns and she apologizes for expecting the worst of him.

Charles & Bethany - It was obvious right from the beginning that these two were meant for another. This being a romance story you know they are going to end up together, so the real enjoyment comes from finding out how that comes to be. I know I should have felt bad for Robert in all of this, but he was so awful to Bethany and his willingness to keep her from finding actual happiness made me just fine with how things ended up.

James & Abigail - Another story where a misunderstanding could have ended everything before it really got going, but was saved by characters who actually communicate and listen to one another. This story definitely took a turn I was not expecting. This event showed how much James truly loved Abigail and how much she had come to trust and love him. This story was tied for my favorite in the series.

William & Eloise - A tale of different classes told in a sweet, wonderful way. Of course you want to smack William when he basically offers to fund her culinary school dreams if she basically becomes his mistress (the conversation about this with his parents made me love them even more). I would have preferred Eloise hang around and have it out with him, but him having to go in search of her added just the right amount of drama to their story.

Sarah & Matthew - This is tied for my favorite of the stories. Sarah's refusal to give up on Matthew and to really care about his happiness made her my favorite of the women in the series. And Matthew wrestling with his growing feelings for her and overcoming his past trauma added depth to the story and him as a character. As with William, I so strongly wanted to smack Matthew upside the head when he runs away after the wedding - I may have smiled just a little when Charles punched him in the jaw. The reunion between Sarah and Matthew was perfect and showed they are on their way to a very happy life together.

Athena & Robert - A perfect conclusion to the series as it ties up a loose end from 2nd book in the series and shows how much Athena had grown as a character. This is especially clear when she refuses to believe the worst of him at the end and yells at her brother for even suggesting that Robert might have done something to hurt her.

Epilogue - I love knowing just a little more about characters after their stories end, so this epilogue was very much appreciated. I loved hearing about the future generations of this family (and would definitely be interested in some stories about them as adults).

Delightful, Sweet, Silly, and Humorous Set of Regency Romances

This is the full set of stories about the Townsbridge family, starting with the parents' romance in the prequel. I love series that not only focus on the children of a family but also show the parents’ romance. As I have been an RN in a year of medical turmoil, I have missed some books of this series as they came out, so I was thrilled that the author put them out in the set so I could enjoy all of them in one book download.

Here are my full two reviews of the books I read as they came out:

Full Review of Falling for Mr. Townsbridge -- Sweet and Silly Regency Romance
This is an unusual Regency romance because it features an upstairs/downstairs couple. When the third son of a viscount comes home from helping diplomats in Lisbon, he is surprised by the better food quality at home and then swiftly becomes enamored of the cook herself. She's French and has been taught how to cook and bake by her grandfather who was a chef at a fancy house in France. They engage in some fun antics (like the kitchen scene), and the hero comes to realize that he truly enjoys his time with her and feels like he can be himself. But the social structure is certainly against marriage between the nobility and servants. She knows it is hopeless as well, yet they are both very attracted to each other. The little moments between them were often silly and sweet, and they certainly kept me reading. I really enjoyed this story. It is relatively low angst, or at least, the more angsty moments resolved rather quickly.

SPOILER
The only thing I had a hard time believing was how quickly and easily everyone in his family accepted their relationship. After the hero and heroine struggled so mightily with their feelings and what to do about them, it felt like a bit of a denouement to have the family be so supportive so fast.
END SPOILER

By the way, if you prefer your romances to be more sweet than steamy, it is relatively sweet with only kisses before the end. There is one steamy scene at the end of their wedding night that you could skip if you prefer not to read those kinds of scenes, although it was a nice one that fit the characters. All in all, I found this simply delightful.

Full Review of A Duke for Miss Townsbridge -- Humor and Depth... A Great Combination!
The meet-cute for this book has to be one of the best I've read! And I read a lot of Regency romances. I won't tell you about it so you can enjoy it for yourself if you choose to read this book. Not only was that scene excellent, but the first one with them together on a walk and fishing on the Serpentine was witty, well done, and surprisingly illustrative of character on both their parts. This book certainly did have surprising and light moments, but much of the book was very serious, as the duke's dark past still afflicted him. I wasn't sure how I was going to like the duke at first, but as I watched him interact with the heroine, I liked him more and more. Until a certain point when he acted absolutely ridiculous and hurtful to the heroine who was only trying to help. Sigh! I so dislike moments like that in novels. But, on the whole, this was a well-done novel.

I received a free copy of this series, but that did not affect my review.

The first story, Once Upon a Townsbridge Story, is about George and Margaret. Their parents bring them together with the thought that they would make a good match. Margaret is against it because she has heard that George is a terrible rake. What I enjoyed about this story is that the main characters were willing to admit when that were wrong and to keep an open mind.

When Love Leads to Scandal is the story of Charles and Bethany. They meet by chance in the park early in the morning, sparks fly and then Charles discovers that Bethany became engaged to his friend, Robert, the previous day. I find stories like this intriguing in that I couldn’t imagine marrying when neither person has any real feelings for the other; of course, Bethany is at an even bigger dilemma since she has met someone who does evoke her passion. I almost feel like this story was left unfinished but that is because I want to know everyone’s story… read on to see what happens in this triangle.

Lady Abigail’s Perfect Match continues this series with James Townsbridge being forced into marriage with Abigail after the 2 are caught in a compromising position. James thinks Abigail is going to make him a horrible wife due to what he thinks is her stand-offish personality, but is in reality just her reaction to being overly anxious. Thankfully this didn’t drag on for too long and the two of them spoke openly/honestly; however, as the story progresses there is another issue that tests their ability to be a happy couple.

Falling for Mr. Townsbridge is about Will, the youngest son, and his parent’s incredible cook, Eloise. Interest between these two builds up until Will doesn’t quite think his proposal through completely. We get to see more of Athena’s meddling and protectiveness of those she cares about when she goes after Will for his stupidity. I really enjoyed this story

A Duke for Miss Townsbridge is Sarah’s story with Mathew. The banter between Sarah and Mathew is fun but it’s such a pity that Mathew is like so many other males in romance novels where he fears falling in love. As the story progresses, Mathew is so intent on winning that he can’t see what’s happening until it’s too late, but since this is a romance with a HEA, it’s only a matter of time before he pulls his head out of his nether regions. This was another enjoyable read.

Finally we get Athena’s story in An Unexpected Temptation. I’ve been looking forward to her story and am happy that the loose end from Charles and Bethany’s story is closed off in this one. This was one of my favourites since Robert new he was falling in love and wasn’t going to fight it; whereas Athena really wasn’t sure what was happening.

If you like a good historical romance then you have to read this.

The Townsbridge Series by Sophie Barns is a wonderful, heart- warming, sweet collection of books featuring each Townsbridge sibling and their parents as the lead in each book. It seems the one with their parent's story is an additional bonus story not part of the actual series.

I was interested in getting this ARC only because I had already read her The Crawford Series and really liked it. I liked this book much more than the Crawford - the reason being, the length of each story was quite small and yet very complete and fulfilling in spite of it. Each stories were laid out very well and the individual characters defined very well. It also helped that all the Townsbridge children were very likable and create a positive impression on the reader.

The one about George and Margaret was crisp, sweet and very well written. How they came to get married and have the life they dreamt of, has been written very beautifully.

Then comes their elder son Charles's book, with him getting caught in a hopeless situation with the woman he wishes to marry, his best friend's fiance, Bethany Their story is a nice read with both of them being well aware of their feelings for each other but not able to do anything about it.

James and Abigail's story is a foray into people who don't like each other initially but need to get married because of the circumstances. This is a pleasant read as well.

William and Eloise's story is a beautiful one with Abigail being the most lovable of characters we can ever come across in a book. She is strong, knows what she wants and expects to be treated with respect. They had a great obstacle in coming together and so it is more satisfying when that happens. This is also my most favourite story amongst all the others.

Matthew and Sarah have a rather unconventional courtship with her trying to help him overcome the depression he feels because of a terrible tragedy that had happened to him. I can't say I am comfortable about this type of story-line but it did unfold sweetly and in a mostly believable manner.

Athena is the reason Robert's marriage to her now sister-in-law stopped. He lost face in society and felt betrayed by her brother who is also his former best friend. But it seems they have been fated to end up together. I loved how this story was written but had a little issue with the growth and depth of Robert's feelings towards Athena; it lacked the authenticity the other books had. Still it was very heart-warming to read.

Overall, this series of books provided an enjoyable experience and made me feel very fulfilled. Bringing such emotions into such small lengths of stories is admirable and it's no wonder Sophie Barnes is a best-selling author.

I recently read “The Townsbridges” series and found the stories to be heartwarming and beautiful. What’s nice about the series is how unique each storyline is from one another and never felt repetitious.

“Once Upon a Townsbridge Story” was an adorable start to the series revolving around Margaret and George. I liked the dynamic they shared and the twist the author added to George’s past relationships. Moreover, I enjoyed how the author spiced the story when Shrewsberry comes into the picture.

“When Love Leads To Scandal” was much better, and I loved that the author provided more details. The angst and romance between Charles and Bethany are great, even though she is engaged to marry Robert. I was wondering how this would play out in the end.

The third book, “Lady Abigail’s Perfect Match,” was fun to read, primarily because of the way Abigail and James meet. They do not meet under the best circumstance and initially dislike each other. It was interesting to read how their feelings changed over the course.

“Falling for Mr. Townsbridge” was another lovely addition as William falls in love with the cook Eloise. I liked how the author put this story of romance with conflicting social status. Margaret and Athena were also compelling characters who spiced the story. This story was my favorite from the series.

I adored “A Duke for Miss Townsbridge” mainly because of Matthew. The author wrote his character wonderfully. You feel his pain when you learn about his traumatic past and wonder how he will get past it.

The last story, “An Unexpected Temptation,” was also a good addition but not as strong as others.

Overall, “The Townsbridges” is a lovely collection of stories to pick up if you are in the mood for a charming historical romance.

Townsbridge Regency Anthology . . .

The Townsbridge siblings risk scandal in the name of love in this 6-book Anthology which includes a prequel featuring their parents. The characters in this family are all extremely likable, and there is plenty of variety in the stories the author gives us here. Below is a review of one of the books to give you an idea of what’s in this wonderful collection.

Titles included are:

• ONCE UPON A TOWNSBRIDGE STORY (#0.5) - George Townsbridge and Margaret
• WHEN LOVE LEADS TO SCANDAL (#1) - Charles Townsbridge and the woman in the park
• LADY ABIGAIL’S PERFECT MATCH (#2) - James Townsbridge and Lady Abigail
• FALLING FOR MR. TOWNSBRIDGE (#3)- William Townsbridge and the new cook
• A DUKE FOR MISS TOWNSBRIDGE (#4) - Sarah Townsbridge and the duke next door
• AN UNEXPECTED TEMPTATION (#5)- Athena Townsbridge and Robert Carlisle

*** Reviewing “A DUKE FOR MISS TOWNSBRIDGE (#4)” ***
Matthew Donovan, Duke of Brunswick, made his decision that it was time for him to marry after contemplating for three years what he expected of a bride. He decided Sarah Townsbridge met his requirements, being kind, energetic, and with the disposition to be a wonderful mother to his children. He had never been introduced to her, but he confidently strode over to her and proposed in front of everyone. Not knowing him, aside from who he was, she said no. That, of course, shocked everyone that she would deny a Duke! But Matthew is stubborn and had made up his mind. Now he had to convince Sarah that she would indeed marry him!

Sarah wants a marriage of love and communication like her parents have. Matthew, aside from the behavior already displayed, has strict unbendable rules for their marriage, such as living apart – with occasional time together to produce an heir. With Sarah’s desire to heal and fix broken people, she decides to get to know him better and try to help him. But unless she can break down his rigid walls, he will never be the man she is looking for. Can he change for her? Will he allow himself to fall in love?

Sarah will have her work cut out for her with this gentleman. But she loves a challenge, and he certainly presents her with enough to work on! Will their enforced proximity bring out the emotions each needs to begin a real relationship? Grab your copy and watch as the two begin to work things out.

The Townsbridge's series is a story collection of eight chapters each with plots showing the most sought after tropes in romance stories.
.
Starting with the parents and then each of their five children
.
The story of the parents where the prejudice of social conceptions portray a hero with a bad reputation taking this story to an enemy to lovers with a very funny air
.
Then the eldest son of the family in a story of his best friend's fiance with so much chemistry that it leaves the reader hanging on every word they exchange
.
The following story is about a mistake that leads two young people into a marriage to calm misunderstandings and the rumors they caused, two strangers who become friends and then lovers
.
The story of the last of the sons of the family man in love with a woman from another social class fills this troop of exquisite flavors
.
A duke denied love with his head sitting in a marriage with rules and distance that in pursuit of achieving the yes of the woman he chose ends up madly in love
.
And the last story of the little one of the daughters of this family who convinced to amend a mistake from the past gives a fresh vibe to a little sister of my best friend
.
Each story is so well written, with flowing lines and great chemistry. In almost all of them there is a bit of love at first sight, even if the characters are not aware of it. Each story has a life of its own, differentiating itself from the previous one and making it impossible not to enjoy its characters
.
Highly enjoyable for fans of stories with unique families with characters that try to break out of social frames and play by the rules like the Bridgertons, this story collection may leave you wanting to read more Sophie Barnes series

TITLE: “True wealth [is having] a family to love and cherish.”

SETTING: Northern England, 1788
Margaret Hollyoak and George Townsbridge are brought together by their parents, hoping they will suit. [George is pleased. Margaret takes a little longer]. The first book follows their courting, and we watch as their love blossoms and grows. The subsequent stories are of each of their offspring coming of age, searching for their own happily-ever-after.

CRITIQUE: Ms. Barnes is able to elicit the full range of emotions in her readers by her writing. I had read a few of her stories separately, and they do stand well alone. However, when I read the entire set of stories together, I came to appreciate how well Margaret and George supported their offspring as they left the “nest”, and how important having family support can be when trial-some times arise.

STORYLINE: 5
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: 5
IMAGINATIVE: 5
Happily-ever-after: Yes
Steam level: Although there are scenes of love making, they come either after marriage or just before, and sex is not the main reason for each story.

A delightful set that may well become a classic.

Overall The Townsbridge Series is very good and it has been a signature series for this author. I like having all the stories in chronological order, it all makes better sense and you feel a deeper connection to the characters.
Of course with any series there will be favorites and ones that are so cared for. I will say that the majority of these stories were very good, I liked the story-lines and the writing kept my interest. The one major drawback however with having a series like this with characters from the same family is that you can quickly see patterns in the author's writing and thus the stories become predictable which can get boring. As it did for me.
These stories are all sweet romances. There is kissing and bedroom scenes but they are not graphic or steamy. Keep in mind these are novellas and thus relatively short ranging anywhere from just over 40 pages to around 90 pages (e-book).
I do recommend this series for fans of quick, sweet romances with HEA's and for overall being a series where each child of the Townsbridge legacy is given their own vignette yet each story can also stand alone.

Sophie Barnes The Townsbridge's Series: A Regency Romance Anthology (The Townsbridges) is nothing short of a wonderful series by a talented author. Here we get to see how it all began with Margaret Hollyoak and George Townsbridge, a lovely story. The series follows their offspring and their romances, finding their own happily ever after.

In the series we get to see their children, George, Charles, James, William, Sarah and Athena’s love stories. It’s a wonderful story of a fantastic family dynamic, loving parents and the support they give their children. Though I don’t usually care for novellas these were delightful.

The author has a gift for being able to illicit the gamut of the readers emotions enhancing their reading experience. The characters are all well developed, delightful and charming. The stories are creative and imaginative and the plots are well written and engaging. Each life story is different and unique to the others. I enjoyed this series so much and it was such a treat to have it all in one boxed set.

Thank you so much Ms. Barnes for this wonderful collection of delightful love stories.

Great Regency family drama box set

This is my favorite kind of series, gathered in one place for my convenience. I absolutely love series where each book tells the story of one individual in the family. When they are gathered together like this, it makes referencing an incident in an earlier story quick, easy and convenient. The layering of relationships also enriches the stories.

This series about the romance of the future Viscount & Viscountess Roxley and their five children was a sweet-heat read spanning close to forty years of story time from first page to last. Every relationship was supported as a love match in spite of any societal scandal that might have been attached. Each of the successful relationships reinforced the value of pressing for a loving partnership rather than a 'socially advantageous match'. Each story runs between 55 and 110 pages. My estimate is that this series box set will take most readers close to a week to complete.

I received an ARC copy of this story from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to share my review.

I love books in a series! The Townsbridges is a whole series of novellas compacted into one book. You do not have to go searching for the next book in the series because Sophie Barnes has made it easy and put them all together. She begins the series with the parent's story and then goes on to tell the children's stories. Each story carries that theme of family with all of the characters interacting throughout each of the stories. You get to know the characters as they work to solve not only their problems, but also the problems of their siblings and friends. In this manner you get a more indepth story. All though these are novellas, each one is well-developed and could stand alone. The stories address a wide variety of tropes so there is something for everyone to enjoy. The stories are witty, romantic and personable. You can't help but fall in love with the Townsbridges.

This collection has all the Townsbridge books. I really enjoyed reading one after the other. I did previously read two of these books and wanted to read the rest and I am so glad I did. This series starts with the first book which is about the parents of the Townsbridge children. Then the next 5 books are about their children. First you have Charles, the eldest who falls in love with his best friend’s fiancé. Next is James who has to marry someone he dislikes. William’s story is next, he falls for his parents cook. Next are the daughter’s story, a Duke who Sarah does not know comes into a party and states “Marry Me”. And the last story is the youngest sibling Athena who tries to make up for the hurt she caused her brother’s friend years ago. I am not sure which story I enjoyed the most, I just know I enjoyed them all.
I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion.

I enjoyed this series from start to finish. After a few misunderstandings and an uncertain start, George and Margaret begin the family’s story in Once Upon a Townsbridge. Each of their five children has a unique story. Each finds love and, to make it interesting, a little scandal. The storylines are as interesting an entertaining as the Townsbridge siblings and the wonderful people the fall in love with. There is some excitement, a bit of danger, and some friendship to mend. All of that is to be expected in a family filled with love, support, and a bit of scandal every now and then. While all six are great stories, I do have a favorite.
The best for last. An Unexpected Temptation, Athena and Robert’s story is an absolutely wonderful conclusion to the series. An awesome collection. Don’t miss it.

This is an awesome collection featuring the Townsbridge siblings. I enjoyed reading about each and every one of them and the scandals that brought them to love. The series begins with the two Townsbridge parents that start it all and and follows through with the children.
The storylines were all artfully crafted with well defined characters and kept me hooked until I finished. I had to pace myself as I wanted to read all in one sitting! A collection of entertaining stories that will keep you smiling and reading for hours. This is truly a gem of a collection and if you love Regency romances, you definitely will want to add this to your collection!

This is a delightful collection of the six novellas in the Townsbridges series. It opens with the story of how the parents fell in love, then fast forwards to each of the five children. (This confused me a little at first; I didn't realize George was the father and not the oldest brother.) I had read the last two books in the series before the collection came out. Even though they can be enjoyed as standalones, the series works better if read in order.

For the most part, these are fun, low-angst stories—though there are some unexpected twists that go a little darker. The books are all worth reading, with well-developed characters and love stories that will make you swoon.

Thanks, Booksprout, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I had read all but the prequel story that is in this compilation of the Townsbridge series by Sophie Barnes. These are all delightfully written historical romance books staring various members of the Townsbridge family as they find their other halves. I love when writers bring out compilations like this because they are great value for the money. (It would help if I had the patience to wait for them though) If you like regency romance stories, which all but the prequel are, and you haven’t read these books till now then I recommend this book to you. I will just give you a warning to set aside some time because once you start reading you won’t want to stop finding more about this lovely family.

Historical romance series with a charming family

I'm a sucker for light, charming historical romances that feature kind people and loving families. So this series was right up my alley. We start with a short prologue, the romance between the mother and father, and then watch as their five children each find love one after another. These are mostly novella length I believe, and are easy reads with likeable characters and familiar tropes, usually light conflicts. I gobbled them all up, though Sarah's story (penultimate in this collection) was a little angsty for me. All in all, a delightful series with a wonderful family at its center.
I received a copy through a Goodreads giveaway; opinions are my own.

FANTASTIC READ!!! The Townsbridge's Anthology by Sofie Barnes is all 5 books of The Townsbridges series and yes I read every one of the books. I loved how all the stories were wrapped up in this collection so I didn’t have to wait for the new release. All 5 siblings were a true delight and I found this book easy to read. The regency era was pictured to perfection and I can’t say enough about this book. Sofie is such a very talented author. These stories had falling for your best friend’s betrothal, enemies to lovers, falling below one’s station, a outspoken lady who stands up in the middle of a wedding to object to the wedding. This book is really FANTASTIC and I am highly recommending it.

The Townbridges are an appealing family that get into unusual romantic situations during regency times. If the personalities of the characters themselves often seem interchangeable, they still provide entertainment value for a fun read. The language and situations can be anachronistic, putting 21st century terms and sensibilities into 19th century people. I found it rather strange, for instance when the son of the house in "Falling for Mister Townbridge" fell in love with the family cook and no one thought it was much of an issue. If that kind of thing doesn't bother you, you'll enjoy these stories.

If you like to read a series of books in a row without having to wait for the next one, then this box set is for you. It begins with the Townsbridges sequel, telling the story of the parents, and then continues with a book for each of their five children, oldest to youngest. Because of that, we get to meet all the chararcters in all six books giving a glimpse of what happens after they each find their HEAs. Each Townsbridge child has a story completely different from all the others, which makes this very entertaining from beginning to end.

A five-star piece!
This is a very enjoyable collection to read with each book about Viscount & Viscountess Roxley and their five children. It begins with the romance of the future Viscount & Viscountess Roxley and works its way through their children. Each romance has its ups and downs but was a delight to read. I love the author style of writing. She gave the reader wonderful characters, a solid plot, and brilliant dialogue. It is a collection I am happy to recommend.
