Returning to England after ten years abroad, Caleb Crawford learns he's the new Duke of Camberly. Only he doesn't want the title. He'd rather help three spinsters fix a leaky roof. Disguised as a laborer, he falls for Mary and she returns his affection. Until she learns that he's more than he seems and that she's in danger of getting hurt.
More than a Rogue
With a broken engagement behind her, Emily Howard knows she's destined to be a spinster. Nevertheless, it might still be nice to learn about kissing. But when she's discovered in the arms of Griffin Crawford, she flees to save not only him but her very own heart. Because in her experience, dreams don't come true. Do they?
Her Seafaring Scoundrel
Lady Cassandra has no desire to marry. But when Captain Devlin Crawford brings scandal to her doorstep and offers salvation, she cannot say no. Not with her daughter’s future at stake. So she decides to accept Devlin’s offer, provided he agrees to never be intimate with her. For although Cassandra is drawn to Devlin, she refuses to dishonor the memory of her one true love.
If you love independent heroines and heroes willing to go to the ends of the earth for them, you'll love this series!

These characters are not young. Cass's daughter is 13 years old, so Cass💃💋 is at least 30, which would have been getting on the old side in those days with life expectancy only in the 40's. I wish the author would have made the characters younger so the story would have been more realistic for this time period. Great story though, with the beginnings of social responsibility written about by author📚Barnes and made a focus of the book.
I am so happy I decide to read this set. I read the 3rd book previously. I loved reading the first 2 books. It was great finding out how everything got started. This author is so talented! Her storytelling cast a spell and you have the hardest time trying to put the book down. I haven't been disappointed by any of her books that I've read so far.

Oh it is so nice to have these three books all together. This series follows three brothers, Caleb, Griffin and Devlin and three friends, Mary, Cassandra and Emily as they brave scandal and find love. Each story will pull you in and engage your emotions and imagination as you encounter the ups and downs, frustrations, heartaches and surprises experienced by these couples. This is a well written, entertaining, sigh-worthy series that should not be missed.
No Ordinary Duke (The Crawfords #1) Mary and Caleb And so the series begins with a woman sent away in disgrace and a second son forced to be a duke. Caleb never desired to be a duke. In fact, he became so disgruntled that he escaped to the country to repair the roof of his best friend’s cottage, which was inhabited by three women and their children. He meets Mary, who assumes he is a laborer, and they fall for each other. Things get complicated when she finds out who he really is, as she detests the aristocracy. This book is full of surprises, charming and romantic. It is a joy to read and an enticing tee up for things to come.
More Than a Rogue. (The Crawfords #2) Emily and Griffin Loved it! It’s always frustrating when two people desperately attracted to each other refuse to acknowledge their feelings. This is a lovely story about Emily and Griffin who discovered that the heart wants what it wants....and if you are lucky, it gets it. It is a well written charming story with endearing relatable characters. A very enjoyable read!
Her Seafaring Scoundral (The Crawford’s #3) Cassandra and Devlin Ah, if only they made men like she writes them....Devlin is every girl’s dream. Two very independent people learn that it is ok to need and be needed. Every time it looks like Devlin and Cassandra’s relationship is positively progressing, something happens to tear them apart. Forgiveness is a major necessity for these two. There are plenty of surprises and a few heartstopping moments that keep the reader completely engaged. It is easy to get swept away by this story, and I promise that you will heave a sigh and smile at the end.

What a wonderful set of books. You don't want to miss these books. Once you start reading you will be hooked. I loved all the stories but Devlin and Cassandra's were my favorite !! Am sure you will have your own favorite. The stories are about the three Crawford's brothers, Triplets. Caleb, Griffin and Devlin. They all grew up under the strict, firm hand of their father, the Duke of Camberly. He had plans for each of them and expected them to do as they were told. That didn't happen. None of the boys ever felt any love from their father. He only showed that to the oldest son George his heir. Their parents were didn't get along and live apart most of the time. All the boys left when they were in their twenties and set out to follow their dreams. Caleb wanted to build things and learned from the ground up to become an architecture. Griffin loved making things with his hands, he ended up in Vienna and learned to make wonderful mechanical toys, music boxes and clocks and now has his own store. Griffin went to sea and become the captain of his own ship. The three women they met all have left society for different reason. They have been shunned by their families and have started over with a home for orphaned children. Mary's reputation was ruined when a Dukes son courted her then dumped her. Putting out stories that were not true in the paper. Emily left to join her friends in the county when after three seasons she had never been kissed or asked to dance as her mother dressed her in horrible colors and wanted her to be heavy. Cassandra was cast out both by her parents and society because she gave herself to the love of her life the night before the wedding. Then he was killed on the way to the church and she was left with child. How each of the brothers met the women they fall for and learns of the secrets that will either bring them together or tear them apart make for three wonderful stories of courage, faith, love and second changes. If only there were man and women like the ones Rose writes in her books, the world would be a better place. I received and ARC from the author and want to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.
If you love independent heroines and heroes willing to go to the ends of the earth for them, you'll love this series! Below is a review of one of the books to give you an idea of what’s in this series. Titles included are:
1. No Ordinary Duke 2. More than a Rogue 3. Her Seafaring Scoundrel
*** Reviewing “MORE THAN A ROGUE (#2)” *** Emily Howard already resigned herself to being a spinster, having no expectations of marriage. Griffin Crawford did not want to marry because would soon be leaving England for his business pursuits. He had come back because his father died and his brother Caleb became the Duke of Camberly. But the sons were not all that close after their 10-year absence from each other when they had left to get away from their father, so Griffin was preparing to leave again.
Griffin remained long enough to attend a ball at his brother’s estate first, and there he met up with Emily who had come to honor her friend, Mary, who had married Caleb. The one thing Emily really would have liked to experience was a kiss, so she and Mary had conspired to make that happen and satisfy her curiosity. Griffin saw her go outside with a man and hurried after to stop what looked like a kiss about to happen, which would not have been proper.
Instead of being grateful for Griffin’s timely interruption, Emily was upset at his interference! Knowing she had never been kissed, he told her kisses were overrated – but she wanted her first kiss to matter, and he had wanted to kiss her for some time, so he did! Unfortunately for both of them, her family caught them in the act. Even though the kiss had been chaste, they demanded he marry her, as would be proper. But she couldn’t do that to him, knowing he had made other plans for his future. How can she fix this problem? Would she agree to the marriage? Or would she run away and take the decision away from the honorable gentleman?
I loved this book! It has so much more excitement to come, so be sure to grab your copy and see how this sticky situation resolves! You’ll love the characters, and the story line is absolutely charming! You truly will not want to miss this one! And then enjoy the other two books if you haven’t already! All are wonderful stories!
The Crawford series tells the stories of three brothers and their journey on the path of love.
Each brother has an insecurity and mind-block they have to overcome. How they manage to do it and find the love of their lives forms the crux of each story. Each story deals with one brother and their love interest.
Their love interests too have their own baggage which they need to deal with. They are women who dare to be different from the norm. They have managed to break away from the confines placed on them and live life the way they wanted. All this combined together makes up for some interesting stories.
I loved the last book the most- Cassandra and Dev's story made the most sense to me and really touched my heart. The next favorite was the 1st story based on Caleb and Mary's lives. In fact, the 2nd book was my least favorite among these three as it felt a bit too long and I just couldn't connect with the main leads..
In the end, all there books combined gave a good reading experience. Thanks to the author and Netgalley for providing this ARC.
This is definitely a collection not to be missed. Ms. Barnes has such a smooth writing style and does a great job of developing the characters. These are very well-written stories and I think the author did a very nice job of bringing the characters and stories to life with vivid descriptions. The storylines flowed smoothly and the plot twists kept me turning the pages anxious to see what would happen next. Follow Caleb, Griffin, and Devlin, three brothers who are against marriage, as they navigate their hearts and find their way to love. The unconventional beauties they fall for are all strong and independent women. Their stories will pull you in and give you hours of reading pleasure. Once I started one, I had to read them all, and I'm so glad they came in a set so I didn't have to wait. This is a gem.os a collection and one I am happy to recommend!
I was given a free copy via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Each of these books is delightful as a standalone romance, but all together they seamlessly flow into one amazing story about two families - one a set of triplet brothers who all left home years ago, the other a makeshift family of friends and orphans - and how their lives become beautifully intertwined.
Caleb, the eldest, unexpectedly becomes a duke upon the tragic deaths of his father and brother. He runs across a set of spinsters - three women who have, for various reasons, left Society and banded together to run an informal orphanage. His story intersects with one of the three, Mary, whose own history is inexplicably intertwined with his own. One by one, his brothers Griffin and Devlin make their way home and find their forever afters with Mary's friends, Emily and Cassandra.
These stories were such a joy to read! Lots of insightful, honest emotional interplay with just enough sizzle to satisfy. I loved the attention to detail shown in overlapping the stories and characters, and the many years later epilogues are everyone a swooning reader could hope for. If you love historical romances, you don't want to miss these. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
A splendid collection. I always love when I get the opportunity to read Sophie Barnes's books. When I saw this one on Booksprout I jumped at the chance to download it. I loved every minute I spent reading. The stories can be read as individual stories but all three blend together. The collection showcases the three Crawfords brothers Caleb, Griffin, and Devlin. No Ordinary Duke is Caleb and Mary’s story the attraction is there right from the start. More Than A Rogue has Emily and Griffin meeting. The final book is Her Seafaring Scoundrel that features Cassandra and Devlin's story. Each book is a delight to read. The characters were awesome and the writing was splendid. This is a book worth having if regencies are your thing. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Caleb, Griffin, and Devlin Crawford are triplets. They are in fact the triplet sons of the Duke of Camberly. The Duke managed to irritate all three of them so badly, they left England. Years later, they are back. Each of them has made life he is happy with and proud of. Caleb is shocked to learn that his father and older brother have died in a fire and that he is now Duke. Cassandra, Mary, and Emily, all ruined in the eyes of Society, have escaped London and an orphanage. They are independent, successful, and happy. Their stories are interesting and emotional. A surprising secret in each story reveals a connection between the hero and heroine. This is an entertaining series with three engaging couples each with a unique story. I thoroughly enjoyed all three stories.
I received an ARC of this series from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
This book includes 3 of Sophie Barnes books about the Crawford’s brothers. I am not sure which book I liked the best. Caleb, the Duke who does not want to be a Duke and Mary who has left society. Griffin who did not want to marry because he was going to be leaving England and Emily who believes she will be a spinster but wants a kiss. Devlin who is a sea Captain and Lady Cassandra who left society when she became pregnant after the loss of her true love. This collection of books is great to read because you can read the whole series right after each other. I received a copy of this book for my honest opinion.
Three beautifully crafted stories from a bygone era, involving ladies and lords, dukes and duchesses, all the intricacies of the aristocracy.
These were no ordinary men, not the stereo typed gentlemen we are used to seeing. These were gentlemen no doubt, but they were certainly different. The ladies were even more surprising - not run of the mill missish types, all from the aristocracy but all with a will of their own and acting in a manner which sets the aristocracy alight!
These were fun stories to read, beautiful settings and very descriptive. It was ideal reading as a change from the WWII books I've got so drawn to recently. Very entertaining.
Author Sophia Barnes tantalizes the reader to include myself in each of the books via a different approach, but one that each of us will appreciate with humor and as readers with opinions. My opinion is that I loved each of the books for different reasons, but I loved all the characters in each of the books because they were interesting and they had what I would say was candor and distinct viewpoints which gave each book there own personality.
I would definitely recommend this series to anyone looking for a great read!
I received a free advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.
Three previously published novels, No Ordianary Duke, More Than a Rogue, Her Seafaring Scoundrel are published as a set. The stories are about 3 women who end up in the country running small orphanage--they have each done something to offend society. While all 3 are wary of adding men to their lives, they manage to get over it. Not the best of Sophie Barnes.
I really enjoyed reading this book series about the Crawford brothers and how they found their wives. Each book is not only related through the brothers but also by the close friendship of their future wives, who left Society and its stifling rules. Even with all this common ground throughout the books, each story is very unique in its development, which made the series interesting until the end. I particularly liked the epilogues that offered the reader insight in how the lives of each couple and their family turned out. I wish you as much fun reading about the Crawfords as I had.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Loved all three stories. Regency romances with good twists and entertaining characters that are not regency typical. I was a bit disappointed how long it took for the last couple to match up from the 1st one (in story years). All stories are however excellent and highly recommend reading them.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wonderful series of books. Entertaining and interesting characters in each book. There are some twists and turns with plenty of drama thrown in. Each book has it's own entertaining journey. Good set of books.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Three identical triplets—the cast-off sons of an imperious duke. Three independent women—unmarriageable in the eyes of society.
Following the death of their father and older brother, the Crawford triplets return to England. Still, they defy social expectations, preferring their adopted trades to the lives of leisure they're supposed to lead. And the brides they choose are equally unconventional. The women have dedicated their lives to raising orphans, and have no desire to marry.
But who can refuse when the handsome, virile son of a duke comes calling?
I enjoy Sophie Barnes' storytelling style. The characters are well-drawn and relatable. The attraction between the lovers is powerful, yet the relationships aren't consummated on-page. The stories are suspenseful and well-paced. If you like Regency heroes who go after what they want and break down all resistance, these books may be for you.
Thanks, Booksprout, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
An enjoyable read. A trilogy about three brothers, each averse to marriage, who unexpectedly meet their “one and only”. I enjoyed having the three books in a box set so that I could easily continue reading and complete the series without having to search for the next book in my library. Books contain adult themes and are slow burn-to-mostly closed door medium heat. Suitable for young adult readers and up.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
TITLE: How 3 women made lemonade out of the lemons life handed them!
SETTING: Three brothers and 3 young women whose lives had taken paths out of society and into forming a home for orphans. How their paths initially crossed and how they traversed numerous difficulties to find their mates is the underlying basis of these three books.
CRITIQUE: I enjoyed this boxed set of related stories. Although a different couple is the center of each book, there is continuity in reading these three books together. Each book is well plotted out, with realistic settings. Each of the 6 main characters is distinct, having separate talents and strengths. There are plenty of twists and turns that keep the reader interested, especially when links between the characters come to light. There is sexual overtones with each couple, making this book more appropriate for mature readers.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received an ARC of this collection through Netgalley and I thoroughly enjoyed it. No Ordinary Duke is the story of Mary Clemmons and Caleb Crawford, the Duke of Camberly (though she doesn’t know that). More Than a Rogue follows Emily Howard (best friend of Mary & Cassandra) and Griffin Crawford, brother of Caleb. Her Seafaring Scoundrel follows Lady Cassandra Moor and Devlin Crawford, third brother of Caleb. Coincidentally, they are triplets, but Caleb is the oldest, and therefore, becomes the Duke upon the death of their oldest brother. It’s unfortunate that George, the eldest brother, died because he seemed very much like the triplets in temperament and personality, although he was willing to put up with their domineering father in ways they were not—certainly due to the fact he was the presumed heir.
It’s not easy for me to remember the names of books or characters, but when I run into a familiar plot, I generally notice very quickly. That’s what happened with Her Seafaring Scoundrel, which is funny because it’s the last in the collection. I originally read this story just over a year ago, which I confirmed by looking for my review on Goodreads. Five stars and a very detailed glowing review made it easy for me to decide it was worth reading again. (I’ve added it to my review here.)
All three stories feature individuals who have no interest in marriage who fall in love despite their intentions. Each story contains a surprise connection between the couples that doesn’t become clear until much later in the plot. Every twist proves that even when we suffer terrible losses, there is something better waiting for us. They also demonstrate how incestuous and insulated the ton could be. It seems everyone knows everyone else in some capacity or another. I loved every one of these stories and characters and highly recommend this collection.
No Ordinary Duke This story earns five stars. Mary Clemmons & Caleb Crawford, Duke of Camberly are the main characters in this story. However, we also grow to know Emily Howard and Cassandra Moor (Mary’s best friends) and Griffin and Devlin (Caleb’s brothers/triplets). It’s a fun story with an interesting twist, which I don’t want to ruin with a spoiler. As an aside, Mr. Townsbridge and his sister do not come across as likable characters. Sophie Barnes is a skilled writer and I highly recommend this book.
More Than a Rogue This one also earns five stars. Emily Howard & Griffin Crawford are the main characters in this story, the second in the Crawford collection. We still see glimpses of Cassandra and Mary (Emily’s friends) and Caleb and Devlin (Griffin’s brothers/triplets).
One of the things I loved about the storytelling is how names changed according to POV. When it was Griffin’s POV, he thought of Emily as Miss Howard and when it was Emily’s POV, she thought of Griffin as Lord Griffin. Of course, this changed later when they decided to become married (no, not a spoiler).
Everyone, on occasion, says stupid things. I loved this description of one such faux pas: “...for some unfathomable reason, Griffin’s mouth had detached itself from his brain.”
I really enjoyed this story.
Her Seafaring Scoundrel This five star review is from a year ago, when I was just learning about Sophie Barnes.
Thanks to Netgalley for another great book. I was unfamiliar with the author, but pleased to discover she competently portrays a depth of emotion not found in all books within this genre. Here, she addresses the issues of grief and guilt and how they can haunt a person (or persons) who stays stuck in the past and fails to face the possibility of a happy future. Cassandra lives in the past, devoted to a fiance who died on the day of their impending wedding, leaving her pregnant with a now-13-year-old “illegitimate” daughter. She lives in a state of perpetual grief, feeling as if she cannot even consider betraying the love she once pledged to Timothy. Devlin lives in a state of perpetual guilt for deaths he feels he caused, though of course, he is not ultimately responsible. As a result, neither feels deserving or capable of loving the other, though for different reasons. As we all know, the heart often has a will of its own and pursues love despite our mental gymnastics to prevent it.
Penelope, Cassandra’s daughter, is exceptionally incisive and mature with observations like this one: “You want to hold on to the past, the present, and the future all at the same time. You want Papa to come back and for no other person to take his place...Except he’s not coming back. Not ever. So it’s time for you to let go and move on or you’ll never be truly happy. And I’d really like for you to be happy, Mama. I want it more than anything else in the world.” Although there aren’t many 13-year-olds with the level of maturity demonstrated by Penelope, there’s no reason not to believe she is exceptional, considering the circumstances of her life and upbringing. Luckily, Cassandra takes her words to heart.
Meanwhile, Devlin is realizing he loves Cassandra and is desperate to win her love. At one point, wracked by his guilt, he “needed at least three glasses of brandy in order to think straight. Or perhaps not to think at all, he decided while trying to figure out what he should do.” The confusion, and sometimes torment, experienced by those in love are on full display, the author describing such emotions in vivid and compassionate detail. It’s difficult not to become ensnared in the passions of the characters. I absolutely loved this book and I’m anxious to read more from this author.
Sophie Barnes brings us a delightful, well written collection of three stories that woo your heart in “ The Crawfords Series”. The story of triplet spares, (Caleb, Griffin and Devlin) of the Duke of Camberly, a strict, overbearing and unloving father. The three brothers winter separate ways in their 20s to choose their own path rather than the path their father chose for them. Their father and eldest brother have died and now Caleb returns as heir, not sure that’s the position he wants.
Three wonderful, swoon worthy, devilishly good looking and honorable heroes who when faced with the perfect love grasp it and hold on with all their might despite misgivings, circumstances, and the past, willing to fight for the love of their lives and hopes for the future.
Three amazing, intelligent, strong, kind and good and successful women, scorned by society and family, who having given up dreams of marriage and bonded together to open an orphanage for the less fortunate.
“No Ordinary Duke” Mary and Caleb
A woman who fell in love with someone above her station in life. Ugly rumors that ruined her reputation in society. And a heart of gold that put her money to good use taking in orphans with her two friends. Secret identity, misunderstandings, self-doubt and recriminations abound in this beautiful love story.
“More than a Rogue” Emily and Griffin
A first kiss at an inopportune moment! A forced marriage. Recognizing love in all it’s glory. A need for trust.
“Her Seafaring Scoundrel” Devlin and Cassandra
Mourning a past love to the extent it closes off any future love. A scandalous past and daughter out of wedlock. Learning to let go and live again. Learning to trust and learning to forgive.
Beautifully written and wonderfully told these engaging books are filled with past hurts, emotions, forgiveness, learning to trust, secrets and misunderstandings. With six different characters personalities, honorable yet flawed that delight and enthrall, and sometimes frustrate you and then the secondary characters all well written, you’re sure to find hope and love in these stories. The dialogue is witty, interesting, heartening, and fun. The story’s flow well and while each can be read as a standalone they flow perfectly from one story to the next.
Thank you Ms. Barnes for these beautiful stories of finding love, dreams fulfilled and hope when least expecting to.

When Caleb meets Mary, the sparks fly. He has never been so strongly attracted to a woman in his life. Caleb comes to like all of the ladies and loves the children in the home and they all like him as well. It is an admiration fest except they don’t know Caleb is a duke. Ok Oh!
This gem of a book will delight you and entertain you as you watch two people, who are more similar than they think, find love and grow to learn that they must balance the simple life they both want with the duties of a title that he never wanted in the first place.
More Than A Rogue
This is book two in the Crawford's series. This is the latest Crawford's book by Sophie Barnes. Although part of a series it can be read as a standalone book, however as in most series it is much better read with the others in order of publication. I love this series and look forward to more. This book gets a 4.75 of 5.0 star rating from me. There is just a hint of danger but this is a much anticipated romance between Emily and Griffin.
Her Seafaring Scoundrel
This is book three and the final book in The Crawford's series. Lady Cassandra has no desire to marry. But when Captain Devlin Crawford brings scandal to her doorstep and offers salvation, she cannot say no. Not with her daughter’s future at stake. This amazing conclusion of this series is not to be missed. Sophia Barnes has written an amazing series. I look forward to many more books by this author. I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the author via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
This was a steamy collection of stories about triplet brothers who were spares to a Duke who rejected their father's expectations and went out and made their own ways in the world. Caleb became an architect, Griffin a clockmaker, and Devlin a ship's captain. They returned to find their father and older brother deceased and their lives changed. Mary was betrayed by the father of the man she thought to marry who destroyed her reputation. Emily was hurt when the man she thought would marry her cast her aside for another. Cassandra lost her fiance before their wedding and gave birth to his child. All of their families cast them aside because of society's responses to their falls from grace. But they made a home together taking in orphans. They were all stubborn and their were plenty of misunderstandings in their rocky paths' to romance. At times I wanted to shake them for rushing to judgment and pushing love away. I liked that each book has an epilogue several years into the future.
This is the collection of the Crawford family. No Ordinary Duke takes Caleb and Mary on a course neither wanting to marry but when they meet.....The second book More Than a Rogue, again we see Griffin and Emily who are drawn to each other. My favorite Her Seafaring Scoundrel. Devlin does the honorable gesture and proposes to Cassandra and she accepts to protect her daughter from scandal. The deal is that is it just a marriage in name only. Devil plans to romance his new bride on the seas. Great collection all the stories are wonderful and the characters are all not what you would expect from them in their positions. Great collection

Each book is a stand-alone romance. Together they flow into a story about two different families a family of triplet brothers and the a family of friends and orphans whose lives interwine.
Caleb unexpectedly becomes a Duke after the deaths of his father and brother. Caleb meets Mary one of three spinsters who run an informal orphanage. Which in turn results in his brothers Griffin and Devlin meeting Mary's friends Emily and Cassandra.
Each story shows how each brother reaches their own HEA with the woman of their dreams.

This is a beautifully written series of books about triplets who have been living overseas when the eldest returns home and discovers his father and eldest brother have perished in a fire. He is now Duke and it’s the last thing he wanted. The books subsequently follow the journey of the brothers and the relationship with three friends who have been disgraced by society and family. It has humour and many hurdles they each have to overcome to find the love they have all been denied.
A lovely read.

This was a wonderful series! I loved that the characters were seen in each of the series. All of the books were well-written and engaging for the reader right up until the last book. The characters were well-developed and complex and very interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the books and I think my favorite was the last one. Don't get me wrong, they all had drama, emotion, humor and suspense; however, I found the last one to be the most exciting. All are romantic. All will be satisfying reads. Highly recommended.
