Three talented women brought together by a man’s love… When Rose Macklin is asked to help Alec Thurston, the one man she’s ever truly loved, by coming to Palm Desert, California, she doesn’t hesitate. He’s dying of cancer and needs her help overseeing the sale of his hotel, the Desert Sage Inn, to another hotel group. With her marketing skill and as the owner of a very successful blog, she’s his perfect choice to make the sale a smooth transition while ensuring the new owners will maintain the reputation and image of the upscale property after the sale. She arrives to find Alec has summoned two other women to help with the project. Lily Weaver was once Alec’s assistant, and Willow Sanchez was like a daughter to him. They join forces to help him, lovingly accepting his nickname for them—the Desert Flowers, similar to the well-known Charlie’s Angels of TV fame. When Rose is assigned to work alongside Hank Bowers, an independent consultant to the hotel company’s team, she shudders at his reputation as an outgoing guy who always uses sports analogies and is certain they won’t get along. But Alec counsels her to give Hank a chance and, later, as they work together as a team, Rose is left to wonder if falling for one another is part of Alec’s secret plan even if one of Hank’s grown daughters fights the idea. A series for those who love stories about strong women facing challenges and finding love and happiness along the way.

Alec Thurston, the 62 year old owner of the Desert Sage Inn is dying of cancer and takes the decision to sell his resort hotel. However, he wants to make sure that the deal follows through in a way which does not compromise the resort's integrity and also secures his loyal staff's jobs and future. To help him, he enlists the help of three women- Rose Macklin, Lily Weaver and Willow Sanchez- who hold a special place in his life. Rose and Lily both have shared a professional and romantic relationship with Alec, at different times, in the past while Willow is the daughter of his late wife's cousin and his protégé. Together, these three women with Alec's blessings band together to do everything in their power to make sure that Alec's legacy remains intact when the resort finally passes into the hands of the new owners.
This is the first book in the Desert Sage Inn romance series and I think it was alright. I liked the author's description of the Desert Sage Inn and the area of Palm Springs with its deserts, desert wildlife, resorts, etc; however, I didn't fully connect with the writing style and the characters. The plot seemed rushed and I couldn't feel any chemistry (romantic and platonic) between any of the characters. Considering this book has received 5* or 4* ratings/reviews I think I am probably in the single minority here of not loving it too much.
My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Wild Quail Publishing and the author Judith Keim for the e-Arc of the book.
Judith Keim is one of those authors that you can always depend on to give you a great story with fantastic characters. I'm excited to know that she is writing a new series and after reading book 1 in the series, I can't wait to read the rest of the books.
Alec Thurston owns a hotel in Palm Desert California. When he found out he was dying of cancer, he made plans to sell his hotel to a large hotel chain but wanted to make sure that they didn't make changes that would diminish the history of the inn so he calls on three women that he has loved in the past to help. He wants to make sure that there is a smooth transition while ensuring the new owners will maintain the reputation and image of the upscale property after the sale. He asks Rose, Lilly and Willow to help him and pairs each of them with a person on the hotel's team. He gives them the nickname of the desert flowers and knows that he can depend on their expertise to help.
Book one in the series is Rose's story. She had lived with Alec for 12 years and she still loves him after many years apart. She has marketing expertise and owns a very successful lifestyle blog. He pairs her with Hank on the hotel team and assigns her to work on the transfer of the hotel. She doesn't like Frank at first - he's an ex-sports figure and uses sports analogies to explain everything. Once she gets to know him better, she thinks he has the potential to be more than a work colleague. Her hopes are dashed when she meets his daughter who is totally opposed and very vocal about her father getting involved with another woman after her mother's death. Can Rose and Hank overcome the daughter's negativity and is there a chance that they can find love?
Rose is a strong independent woman who knows what she wants out of life and works to meet her personal goals. She was a great character and I thought it was wonderful to have a main character in her 50s who was still working hard to make her dreams come true. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series. Based on earlier books by this author, I know that they will all be strong woman who face challenges and find love on their life journeys.
Alec Thurston is dying of cancer and he asks Rose, who he had a six-year relationship, Lily who had been his assistant, and Willow who was like a daughter to him to come to oversee the sale of his hotel, the Desert Sage Inn. As the women arrive, they are independent, smart women. This is Rose's story, the first in this series. Alec had Rose working beside Hank who she knew she wouldn't like because of his reputation. But Alec tells her to give Hank a chance so she does. They decide they might want to date but one of his grown daughters is set against her father dating. We discover how competent Rose, Lily, and Willow is in presenting the Desert Sage Inn to the hotel that wants to buy it. The agreement was the hotel would keep the inn unique. The three women worked together, presented the plans, and when they discovered the hotel didn't want it to stay the same as it was, they came up with a plan that would give the hotel owners a reason to keep the inn the way it is. It was nice to have a book that shows us that women can work together, see the strengths they each have, be happy that by working together they can accomplish the many tasks they must do, and it wasn't a competition. As I wrote about not making it a competition, one thing in the book stuck out for me. When Alec had a trainer come every morning to take them hiking, running, swimming, as a team working together, the trainer took them to the high school. The women were going to race high school runners. When the women asked what the rules were, the trainer says, once up and once back on the track and the team with all 3 runners back first is the winner. The women got together and devised their plan so when the trainer said go, all three of the women ran at once. The girls at first said they cheated but they explained what the rules were and it didn't say one at a time they ran, it was the first team with all three back to the finish line won. Then they asked the women to come to school and talk about empowering women. Wouldn't it be nice to have women empowering each other, working together, and realizing the different strengths they each have and how they can blend them together and succeed? The first book of this new series is showing us that it can happen. Judith Keim, you have created a wonderful new series for women.
Really enjoyed Rose's story, along with Willow and Lily, these three women are helping a friend who is dying. Rose has more emotional ties with Alec but finds herself able to move on and find another love interest as well as coming up with plans for Alecs legacy. I really like that each woman has their own story interwoven within each other's (three-part series). I really like that Rose is a older woman who has a vulnerable and strong side.
“Funny after being away for so long, she felt as if she was coming home.” Rose, Lily and Willow all have a special connection to Alec the owner of a prestigious resort. Even though some of them haven’t heard from him in years, they all come to his side when called. They started as strangers, jealous of each other’s relationship with Alec but are working together to help the man they all love land respect. Each “Flower” has a special talent that will be needed in the upcoming months. What a wonderful start to a brand new series and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of my new friends as they work to preserve Alec’s legacy The Desert Sage Inn, where I will be taking my next vacation!
The Desert Flowers - Rose, is the first book in the new series by Judith Keim. I always look forward to new books by Judith Keim, and this one is definitely a wonderful way to begin The Desert Sage Inn Series!
Alec Thurston is the owner of The Desert Sage Inn. He has only a short time to live and is in the process of selling his beloved hotel to another hotel group. He needs someone with the right hotel experience and background to help oversee things during the transition phase of the sale...he needs his Desert Flowers.
Rose Macklin has never gotten over the one true love in her life...Alec Thurston. Rose first met him when she was hired as a social director at his hotel. When they started dating, he was completely honest with Rose, and told her he would never stay in a long-term relationship. Alec blamed himself for the death of his wife and child in a fire, and the guilt he felt never allowed him to permanently commit to another woman. They were together for six years when Alec ended their relationship. Fourteen years have passed since she last saw him, but when she receives a letter from Alec asking her to come and see him, she does not hesitate...especially since he told her that he is dying.
Lily Weaver is a manager and legal secretary for a law firm in Ellenton, New York. Between her long hours at work, and watching her niece three nights a week, she does not have time for much else in her life. While going through her mail, a return address catches her off-guard...it was a letter from Alec Thurston. Thirteen years ago, she worked at The Desert Sage Inn...and it was eleven years ago when she left brokenhearted because Alec ended their relationship. Wondering why Alec is writing her, she reads the letter and learns he only has a short time to live, and he wants her to come and see him.
Willow Sanchez is a teacher at Boston University. She has just finished grading papers and begins sorting through the mail stacked on her desk. She is surprised to see a letter from The Desert Sage Inn. After opening the letter, she realizes it is from Alec Thurston...her mentor and the reason she went into the hospitality management field. Willow is shocked to learn Alec is dying, and when he asks her for a favor, Willow cannot refuse because Alec is like a father to her.
Being the first book in this series, there is a lot of ground to cover in order to tell the story of the characters as well as laying the groundwork for the following books. Judith Keim has mastered doing just that, and her phenomenal storytelling skils are once again on full display. This is a unique storyline, and initially I was wondering how it could possibly work...especially since two of the three women had never completley gotten over Alec. However, due to Judith Keim's writing style and wonderful characters, this is a story that is pure joy to read. Now I am patiently waiting for the next book in the series to be released...The Desert Flowers - Lily.
I would like to thank Judith Keim for allowing me the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book. My views are my own, and are in no way influenced by anyone else.
The Desert Flowers—Rose is the first book in the new Desert Sage Inn series by Judith Keim. Alec Thurston had dedicated his life to developing his Desert Sage Inn, located near Palm Springs, and the memory of his wife and unborn child who were lost in a fire. Through the years he has developed a beautiful resort with many amenities. He has also cultivated strong feelings for three different ladies.
Rose Macklin had come to the resort as an event director and she and Alec became quite close. However, he had warned Rose from the beginning that he would never marry again and that if things got too serious he would break it off, which is exactly what he did. However, Rose harbors no ill will and is there to support her friend.
Lily Weaver was hired a few years later as a personal assistant to Alec. They, too, developed a close relationship and when it became too close Alec found her a good job in Phoenix and severed ties. Again, although Lily had hoped for a different outcome, she has no hard feelings.
Willow Sanchez is Alec’s relation by marriage, the daughter of his wife’s cousin, and somewhat of a protege to Alec. Because of him she attended the Cornell School of Hotel Administration. She then went on to teach at Boston University in the School of Hospitality.
When Alec is diagnosed with an untreatable cancer and has decisions to make about his estate and legacy, he contacts the three women and asks for their help. As he was never anything but kind to each of them, they put their lives on hold and return to the resort to help him with a transition to the buyers of the resort.
This story, Rose’s story, takes place at the beginning of the transition process. While Alec is ailing, he is in good spirits and has many good days. The first order of business is to unite the women in a sisterhood with dedication to making Alec’s goals become reality. Rose is put to work addressing PR issues with her counterpart from the Blaise Hotel Group, the buyers, former football player Hank Bowers. Lily’s special skills as a legal secretary are put to work as she is paired with disabled Gulf War veteran and attorney Brian Walden, who specializes consulting with businesses making acquisitions. Willow is paired with her college nemesis, Brent Armstrong, an entitled, chauvinistic, demeaning menace who thinks he can say and do whatever he wants. However, Willow is much stronger and much more accomplished since she was an underclassman at Cornell and is determined to not let him get to her.
In this first of a series, we see each woman come into her own and view new beginnings even as they must take this tearful journey as they slowly lose a dear friend. This is a very well written book with well developed and likable main characters. It was interesting and enlightening as the first portion of this saga unfolded. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!
Complications Galore .... but not to fear, Alec's Angels are on the job
Three women….. two of them left heartbroken by the very man who now is reaching out to them. He had no problem with employee/boss romantic relationships, as long as they didn’t get too serious. Of course, they always did, but that’s when Alec would drop them and come out smelling like a rose. Now he wants to make amends? Hmmm, not really. He wants their help, their expertise, their devotion to his legacy. You see, the three women are full of life while Alec is dying. He only has a little while to live.
Rose and Lily were Alec’s lovers. Willow is his niece and Alec was a father like figure in her life.. All three were successful in their own right. It was easy for me to understand Alec asking Willow for help, but not so much with Rose and Lily. After all, they both were past lovers that he dumped…. okay, maybe dumped is too harsh of a word, maybe I should say he graciously let go.
When he beckoned the women to his side, he had ulterior motives, however the women didn’t care. They dropped everything to rush to him. He told each one he was dying and wanted to see her. All three thought they were the only one Alec invited. All three were in for a surprise.
This is the first book in the series of ‘Alec’s Angels’…. or Desert Flowers … or even The Three Musketeers 😉 ... all three women loved Alec in one way or another. This book centers on Rose. She and Alec had known each other for years through work. They were lovers for six years. It seems Rose never got over Alec and has a failed marriage to prove it. She was weak in the ‘Alec Department’ but strong in her career and professional life. Alec called upon her for her expertise in helping to save his legacy, the hotel where she and Alec worked during their relationship.
👁 OBSERVATIONS 👁
… It sounds like I think Alec is a disgusting man, but not so. As you read, you see his own mental anguish from the death of his pregnant wife. He is full of false guilt. Unfortunately he’s not the only one to suffer from his choice. He needed love in his life but refused to ‘fall in love’ again. All his women knew this upfront so they willingly got involved knowing the outcome.
… I liked how Rose and Hank worked together. They were a good team at work and at play. It certainly wasn’t love at first sight. They had obstacles in the road to overcome. It was refreshing reading about finding love in midlife. And, I liked Hank's sports lingo. It was cute.

The Desert Flowers - Rose (The Desert Sage Inn Series Book 1) by Judith Keim is an exciting new series! Three strangers that have a connection to Alec Thurston are brought together for an incredibly special project. His life is lived mostly alone due to the death of his young wife and their unborn child in a house fire years ago. He made a promise he would never remarry because he felt such guilt and sorrow at her death. Now, Alec has a brief time to live and set plans in motion for three important women in his life to come to California. Alec owns a luxury resort hotel named The Desert Sage Inn and wants the three women to represent him as he prepares to sell the hotel. Rose arrives at Alec's home to discover she will be joined by two other women. This worries her for a bit, but she cares so deeply for Alec until she agrees to help make the transition of this hotel as successful as possible. She and Alec had lived together for six years and have stayed friends. Rose has her own business and also runs a successful blog that generates income. Lily has been working extremely long hours for a law firm. She has never married after her breakup with Alec several years ago. She has never gotten over her feelings for him and wants to do whatever he needs to help him have peace about his hotel. She meets the other two women and soon feels a kinship with them that she never expected. Willow is grieved to learn Alec is unwell and has limited time remaining. She is happy to return to the Desert Sage Inn where her parents have been employed for years. Alec had treated her with kindness as she grew up and he encouraged her to learn about the hotel industry. When she attended Cornell, Willow majored in hotel management and business. Willow remembers Rose and Lily from years past when they each lived with Alec. She is worried about how they will accept her as a business equal due to her age. I enjoyed reading about the friendships and camaraderie among the three women. It was a delight to read of their problem-solving and dedication to making the sale and transition of the hotel exactly as Alec has planned. The three women are a force to be reckoned with as they use their knowledge and experience to meet the prospective buyers and present Alec's legacy for the future of the hotel. Publication Date January 28, 2021 Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
THE DESERT FLOWERS - ROSE is the first book in the DESERT SAGE INN series and I can't wait to read more. This was mainly Rose and Hank's story but Alec's other Desert Flowers, Lily and Willow, play important roles as well. They each have a history with Alec along with working at the Inn in the past. He's contacted them individually asking them to return to California to help transition the inn to new buyers since he has a terminal illness. They all jump at the chance to help him not knowing that the others were asked as well. The loyalty, friendship and love for Alec from the Desert Flowers and his staff both at home and the inn was heartwarming. I loved how everyone was concerned for him but didn't treat him with kid gloves. When Rose and Hank first meet there's an instant attraction but given they're on opposing sides regarding the sale of the inn can it really go anywhere?
The story had beautiful descriptions of the scenery, the outdoors, the homes and the inn. There was a depth to the characters and we only learn about them a little at a time along with their connections to Alec. The three women are not only helpful to him given their tasks but also to each other especially since they only knew of each other. They become fast friends and we see them in their professional mode as well as in their down time. There are multiple story lines that are woven in and out and tell a beautiful story. There are family and friends, new friendships, loyalties, histories revealed, rivals, lots of meetings, teambuilding, food, some loving and love. There is some closure but the book end too abruptly for me. There is a better than expected happily ever after and the teaser for the next book which is Lily's story just whet my appetite for more. The cover is beautifully depicted and drew me in.
Ms. Keim is a fairly new to me author. This is the third book of hers that I have read in just over six months and I have added others to my always growing, never diminishing, TBR pile!
I rated the book 4.5 stars but rounded to 5 stars here and on other sites.

The Desert Flowers-Rose Alec Thurston, owner of the Desert Sage Inn is dying of lung cancer. He asks three women who he has known in the past to oversee the sale of the Inn. The sale proceeds of the Inn are to be set up in a charitable foundation in Alec’s deceased wife’s name. Rose, who had a six-year relationship with Alex and still loves him has her own Blog and marketing experience; Lilly had been his assistant and worked long hours at a law firm and helped take care of her niece; and Willow who was like a daughter to him, majored in hotel management and business at Cornell. Willow’s parents are employed by Alec. These three women move to Alec’s home in preparation of the sale of the Inn. Rose, Lilly, and Willow go through a team building session and are determined to work together to insure a smooth transition of the hotel. Rose is assigned to the social media person with the Blaise Hotel Group; Lilly is office assistant to Alec, and Willow is to work with the new Assistant Manager. The new owners want to change the hotel and the three women come up with a plan to keep it unique. Rose meets Hank through his granddaughter before she realizes he was the person she would be working with. Rose and Hank meet on the professional level and develop feelings for each other after spending time together. But will their relationship move forward as Hank’s one daughter opposes her father becoming involved with other women after his wife’s death? What another interesting story where three women who have no previous working together, join hands to ensure a smooth transition of the sale of an Inn for an individual they all love. I look forward to reading the next book about Lily.
This is my first book by Judith Keim and I am eager to read the next book in this series as soon as I can! I have loved getting to know Rose, Lily, and Willow. Each one has a special relationship to Alec and he has called them back to the Desert Sage Inn since he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He has sold the hotel and they each have a part to help ensure that it remains an upscale hotel. They each have a role in this time of transition. This first book centers on Rose, but the three women become quite the team! They were all a little surprised to get the invitation to go see him and saddened that his time with them will be short. He made sure that they were fit and healthy, dressed for success, and a bonded team before their work began. Alec had been with Rose for the longest, but ultimately broke up because he would not let himself marry again. He felt guilty after his wife and unborn child were killed in a house fire years earlier. He had been close to Lily as well and more like a mentor in the hotel business to Willow. You will learn that he deeply cares for each one still to this day and all have a special relationship with him as well. You are also introduced to other characters as well throughout the story. One of them is the Hank who is paired to work with Rose during this transition. Where will this relationship lead when she starts to have feelings for him? She is working for Alec and he is working for the Blaise group that is taking over the hotel. The book touches on the other two desert flowers and I am excited to learn more about Lily in the next book. This series will definitely be on my reading list this year.

Alex Thurston is dying, so he asked his 3 Desert Flowers , Rose, Lily and Willow, to come to meet him and do him a favor. They just couldn’t tell him know. He needs help with his hotel, Desert Sage Inn in Desert Palm, California. Rose had a 6 year relationship with him, it was her true love. Lily had a 2 year relationship with Alex too. He broke her heart too. Alex lost his wife and child in a fire. He can’t get past it. Willow, who’s parents work for him, thought of him as a family member. Al x helped each one when it was time to move on from him and their relationship. They all worked for him in the beginning. He needs them to help with the sale of Desert Sage Inn. He asked each one to work on his behalf. They each work with the other hotel associates. The 3 women learn to be friends, work as a team . They learn to become family. They learn that they need to change their lives for the better, instead of being stuck just living. Rose works with Hank Bower. He’s a widower, who is an independence consultant. They have chemistry but she’s not sure she can trust him. Alex tells her to give it a try and see where it leads. Will she? He has 2 daughters, who is still mourning their mother’s death. How will the react to Rose? Will they accept her or will Hank and Rose walk away? It about the next stage in their lives. I truly loved this book. It’s a must read. I can’t wait for Lily’s story next. Thank you Judith for making me feel like I was right there with them.
This is my first book by this author and there are some fantastic aspects that I liked.
I liked how:
1. 3 total strangers come.together to help a dying common friend. 2. Rose became the defacto leader to this trio by virtue of the fact that she was older and more experienced. 3.This book completely overrides any idea of jealousy that could have been used. Its a book filled with positivity, acceptance and friendship. 4.All the desert flowers were not simpering, entitled young misses just out of college, but accomplished professionals with their share of missed opportunities and disappointments. 5. Mostly, I loved how wiling they were to accept the challenge md make changes to their existing life. That takes a lot of courage and this book truly celebrates that. 6. I loved how though Rose and Hank were on opposite sides they are very accepting of their attraction towards each other and are willing to give it a try.
However, it's predictable and the writing is ok. Gets a little boring . What I totally didn't like was how in today's world. and with each of the women proficient in computers they failed to make the PowerPoint presentation presentation. That was unacceptable, and put me.off.
Overall, its a great start to.the series and Im so looking forward to Lily's and Willow's HEA.

I have loved all the books I have read by Judith Keim and this one definitely did not disappoint. Alec Thurston owns a hotel, the Desert Sage Inn. He has worked hard over the years to create this upscale hotel. Sadly, Alec is dying of cancer. In order to try to preserve his hotel he calls upon three past women whom he has had relationships with to come to his aide. Without a doubt each comes to rally around him not knowing at the time that there would be other women involved. His hotel would be sold to new owners but he employed the help of the three women, Rose, Willow and Lily to work on his behalf to preserve the integrity of his hotel. Each woman is strong and each has individual talents that they will use against the new owner. They are each paired up with a man who they have to convince to be on their side to preserve this upscale hotel. Can they do it? Can anyone in the group find love and get a new lease on life? You will have to read this wonderful story to get your answers. I can't wait to read the rest of this series. I voluntarily received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Will Rose be able to combine work and a search for love? Is it too late for her to have the family she has always dreamed of?
Thank you to the author for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. I can’t wait to see what the next books in the series reveal
Judith Keim likes to weave a story through a series of books and this one fits that bill.
The Desert Flowers - Rose is the story of Alec Thurston - a hotelier that is dying from cancer. He has called 3 women from his past back into his life to help him settle the affairs of his inn. He does not want the uniqueness of his inn to be diminished or lessened when the new owners take over.
This story is about Rose - one of the women he calls to help him. Rose has always felt like she does not deserve love. She was an oops baby and her parents did not know how to handle her inquisitive nature. Rose had a 6 year relationship with Alec before they ended it as Alec would never marry. Rather than continuing down a path where there was no marriage, the relationship ended.
Rose now needs to help Alec with making sure that his wishes are carried out once he is gone. Rose is paired up with Hank and sparks fly. But, will his daughter's get in the way of them being together in a personal sense? Will the job get in the way?
I cannot wait for the 2nd book to come out later this year!
This book is a fantastic start to a new series by an author who I enjoy reading.
Three different women are invited to the Desert Sage Inn, a place they all had ties to. Rose and Lily both had past relationships with Alec, the owner, while Willow was his protege in the business. It might have been awkward, but the women are all caring and professional, focused on helping Alec complete the transition sale of his hotel to a larger hotel group.
While this book centers around Rose and her relationship, the reader gets a good introduction to all three Desert Flowers and the hotel. Rose has some emotional damage, her parents never expressed love for her, and she had a painful divorce as well. When she meets a member of the transition team and begins to have feelings for him, it is hard for her to trust.
I’m looking forward to the next book in this series, I can already say with confidence that I’ll enjoy it as much as this book.
Thanks to the author for an ARC but my opinions are my own.
Alec Thurston has cared for three women (Rose, Lily, and Willow) in separate ways and now that he is dying, he has asked them to come help him. They have no idea why but when he asked for help, they all said they would be there with no hesitation. When they have all arrived, he told them he was selling his hotel, the Desert Sage Inn, and wants the three of them to help make sure the new owners keep their upscale image. Rose will use her marketing skills and will be working with Hank Bowers, an independent consultant for the hotel company team that is to purchase the hotel. The only man she ever loved was Alec and was with him for six years but knew that he would never marry. His wife and unborn baby had died in a fire and he vowed to never marry again. So when they got too close, he sent her away. Now for the first time since, she is having feelings for Hank. Totally loved this story, even the sad moments and and so ready to read about the other two. Also Alec has something planned for these three, I can just feel it.
Charlie’s Angels fans are going to enjoy The Desert Sage Inn Series by Judith Keim! The Desert Flowers - Rose (Book 1) is a great introduction. Love the concept of pairing three women, all with different backgrounds, together to assist in the transition of ownership of an upscale resort. Everything about this story was enjoyable to me, especially since I spent years working in the hospitality field and achieved my degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. The characters are refreshing and are guaranteed to make you smile. Rose, Lily, and Willow are the indelible “flowers”. However; there are numerous characters you will love, (and a couple you won’t). Judy has created a fun, light-hearted series I look forward to continuing. I highly recommend The Desert Flowers - Rose, The Desert Sage Inn Series Book 1 by Judith Keim.
I was given an Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for my unbiased review.
Another awesome book by Judith Keim The Desert Flowers – Rose the first book in The Desert Sage Inn Series. I am so happy that Judith has started a new series she is an author that never disappoints. Ms. Keim has written a wonderful story which drew me right in, making me forget everything else and did not let me go until I turned the last page. I did not want to put this book down and read well past my bedtime. I loved how the author described everything so vividly I was able to visualize and feel everything that was going on. This is very well written has well developed and likable characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. I felt like I was right there with the characters. This is a very emotional and enjoyable story full of love, friendship and wonderful characters. I laughed I cried and I felt all the emotions of this book. I did not want this book to end and I am looking forward to reading the second book in this series.
Judith Keim did it again, Another great book that will leave you with some tears and wanting the rest of the books right away, Three talented women brought together by a man’s love… When Rose Macklin is asked to help Alec Thurston, the one man she’s ever truly loved, by coming to Palm Desert, California, she doesn’t hesitate. He’s dying of cancer and needs her help overseeing the sale of his hotel, the Desert Sage Inn, to another hotel group. Lily Weaver was once Alec’s assistant, and Willow Sanchez was like a daughter to him. When Rose is assigned to work alongside Hank Bowers, an independent consultant to the hotel company’s team, she shudders at his reputation as an outgoing guy who always uses sports analogies and is certain they won’t get along. This is the first book of her new series so go out and grab it now before the next one comes out, you won't be disapponted. Thank you to Judith for giving me an ARC to read.
Once again Judith Keim's book touched my heart and touched my emotions as she brought me into the first book of The Desert Sage Inn series. Three women known as the Desert Flowers are helping Alec with the sale of his beautiful Desert Sage Inn before he dies. It was fun watching Rose, Lily, and Willow become such great friends as they spread their wings to help Alec and the Inn. I really enjoyed learning about who they were and how they knew Alec.
This first book focused on Desert Rose, the woman Alec had dated for six years. I enjoyed reading about her past and witnessing her future with Hank, a widower with two grown daughters, and a cute granddaughter named Leah.
I cannot wait to read the next book that will focus on Lily and I am anxious to see what happens to Alec and the Inn. I received an advance copy of this wonderful book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This is the first book in a series about three women who although all different all have ties to Alec the owner of the Desert Sage Inn. Two of them, Rose and Lily have had a past relationship with Alec, whilst Willow was once his protege in the business. These women are all professional, strong and most importantly they care about Alec and want to help him with the sale of his hotel and it's absorption into the larger hotel group.
Although this book is about Rose the author takes the time to introduce us to the three ladies who are the Desert Flowers. Rose finds it hard to trust new people and has some issues relating to her parents and a painful divorce so when she meets and has to work with a member of the transition team she doesn't think their relationship will be anything but professional. Then she begins to have feelings for him, can she open herself up to hurt again?
Every time I read a new book by Judith Keim, I fall in love with her beautifully written characters. The Desert Flowers - Rose didn’t disappoint, in that regard. Alec Thurston invites three women to his home, with a business proposition. He’s selling The Desert Sage Inn and wants them to help the transition. Two of the women, Rose and Lily had been romantically involved with Alec, while Willow has been his mentee and like a daughter. As you read this book, you will be rooting for each of the women, but you’ll also be sad because we know Alec is dying. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series. If you enjoy reading about women who were strangers coming together for a common goal, you will love this new series.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Professional Women Join To Help Their Mentor This is a sweet and clean story. It is a romance, but so much more. A man has been very important in the lives of three different women. He calls them together to fulfill his dying wishes. This is the story of Rose, the eldest of the women. There will be subsequent books about the other women. This story has romance, but it is about women fighting for the respect of male counterparts in their profession. It is also about the power of true friendship in a woman's life. This was a good book that makes me anticipate the next episode. This author always writes quality books that stick with the reader for quite some time. I received this ARC book for free from the author and this is my honest review.
Once again Ms. Keim has written a meaningful story of relationships. It examines the ability to find strength and friendship with women who have shared love, admiration and respect with the same man. Ms. Keim has written the story using alternating chapters, giving the reader a chance to hear the story from each of the women. In using this style the reader is given the opportunity to see each woman as an individual; to see their feelings, doubts and strengths and their thoughts on each other. Watching the story progress in this way enables the reader to make a connection with the women. Reading this story evoked many different feelings as the women interacted with each other, Alex and the other characters. I highly recommend this book as it is well written. The style allowed me the opportunity to connect with each of the women. I was able to relate to them. I found them inspiring and strong while overcoming insecurity. Thank you #wildquailpub and #JudithKeim for approving my request for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are solely my own.
A new series and a new to me author. I was attracted to the premise of the story, and glad I chose to read it. I enjoy a good story with seasoned characters. As the first book sets up the series, the author has done a fantastic job, introducing us to all the characters. Her detailed descriptions are spot on, and I picture an Old Hollywood Palm Dessert. As we settle in Alec, has recalled three women from his past to take over his hotel after his death. With the roles and bonding out of the way, we begin to follow Rose’s journey; she is the first of the Desert Flowers. I am excited to see where we go next!
Thank you to Booksprout and the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Three women, all with a relationship with the same man at different times in his life. Lover, mentor, friend, each woman had a specific need for Alec. He's dying and in his last days, arranging for the sale of his beloved Desert Sage Inn. He calls the three women, His Desert Flowers, Rose, Lilly and Willow and it's readily apparent when he invites them to his home that he has something in mind and these woman will make that plan happen.
As always Ms Keim tells a sweet story with strong women characters who are finding themselves as the book progresses. Rose is a strong and independent woman who has been disappointed in love throughout her life. this is her story and the reader will so enjoy following her as she progresses and grows.
