Jazmine St. Clair has lived in isolation most of her life after accidently killing someone at age nine. Ten years later, she’s socially awkward, shunned by society and forbidden to feel any touch by another human. Then one day she finds herself in the midst of a series of supernatural kidnappings by a mysterious group and meets a sexy vampire that changes her world forever.
Evan Kitagawa was short-tempered and directionless as a lower level “undead” vampire. Then Jazmine’s accidental touch brought him back to life, allowing him to enjoy the perks of an elite, “living” vampire. When the head of his vampire town instructs him to infiltrate Jazmine’s community, he finds himself more than excited to be near this beautiful stranger even if it could mean betrayal.
While Jazmine is intrigued by Evan’s ability to survive her touch, she’s suspicious of his intentions. However, she can’t ignore their unexplainable bond…or growing feelings.
With kidnappings on the rise and growing distrust between their towns, can the pair uncover the truth behind their unlikely bond before they become the next victims?

Everyone was affected differently when supernatural abilities appeared in the world. For Jazmine St. Clair, her life as she knew it was changed forever more. Cursed with the power to kill with a single touch, Jazmine’s life is now lonely and isolated. Ten years after her first kill, Jazmine is a socially awkward, introverted teenager who is shunned by everyone in the government town she lives in. But when she meets an undead vampire who doesn’t die at her touch, her entire world is tilted on its axis.
Short tempered and miserable, Evan Kitagawa’s simple and boring life had no meaning. But when his heart begins to beat again after an accidental touch from supernatural Jazmine St. Clair, he begins to feel again for the first time in forever. He’s intrigued by her, and even though she’s suspicious of his intentions, Jazmine can’t make herself stay away. The more time the two of them spend together, the more their feelings grow. But can their newly blossoming relationship survive amidst all the chaos?
Oh my gosh, yes!!! I absolutely adored this book. Paranormal romance is one of my favorite genres, and this book was amazingly executed! I loved all the world building, and the twists and turns that the author took me on over the course of the novel. I loved the uniqueness of the powers and abilities in this world as well. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next - I couldn’t put this down!
Jazmine. It was so refreshing to see a heroine who wasn’t always in control and completely sure of herself. She’s awkward, yes, but that just adds to her charm. She also has an extremely caring nature, even if it wasn’t nurtured due to people being afraid of her. Evan. I actually really loved him! He’s got anger issues, yes, but he never attacked someone unprovoked. I also really loved the way he treated Jazmine. Their love story was beautifully sweet. I can’t wait to read the next one!!!
The premise caught my interest but I just couldn’t get into the story with how boring the writing is. I just honestly felt like I’ll get into a slump if I carry on when I’m already feeling a little of it.
Summary: After the paranormal apocalypse and everything she's come to know completely changing. Jazmine is doing her best to navigate her new life. And by navigate, that means completely staying indoors 90% of the time. Most of the survivors of the apocalypse are no longer themselves. They have all become vampires, ghouls, goblins, or have magical ability. While Jazmine's sister is a healer, she wasn't so lucky. Her touch is deadly, literally. She has now lived her life pretty secluded in order to protect those around her. But when her friends convince her to throw on some gloves and draw on protection wards for a night out at the market. Things go wrong and everyone attending the event leave in a hast. That's when she meets Evan, but when they come into contact with each other he doesn't die. His heart starts beating.
Pretty sure she punches him the first time they meet lol instantly liked her after that. All in all this was your typical ish vampire love story but with a few differing factors: Evan is basically a zombie vampire so he's dead, and the apocalypse being paranormal. The bones of this book was really intriguing. I really enjoyed the dynamic between all of the characters and the setting of a small town. And even the plot. But Evan was a little too clingy for me, and the reveal of the person behind all of the attacks in the town felt a little Disney character villain ish. Scooby doo "I would've got away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids". But all in all I enjoyed it and will be keeping it on my shelves. Loved the diversity of the characters and the cover is cute. Can't wait to pick up more from this author.
This is perhaps one of the most unlikely blends of genres I’ve ever encountered. I never would have expected that paranormal dystopian urban fantasy romantic suspense would be a thing, but it worked perfectly here. Jazmine and Evan’s story drew me in from the moment I started reading. There was just something about these misfit loners that made me love them immediately. Watching as their connection to one another grew, left me feeling a little old and jaded, because they were simply too cute for words together. But none of that stopped me from anxiously biting my nails while they raced to fit the clues together to save their towns and stop the kidnappings. Now that I’ve reached the end of this book, I can’t wait to dig into the next to find out what other adventures are in store for this pair.
I loved Jazmine and Evan! Once I started this book, I finished it all in one setting. It had nicely rounded characters and a fast-paced storyline that kept me engaged. Even though I loved Jazmine’s innocence and Evan’s intensity I really like the world building and the fantasy unfolding in the background. It was a well-developed magical world that was interesting and made me really want to read more stories (with these characters or others) set in this same world. There was so much to explore after magic hit the world in a moment, and everyone (and the land itself) was transformed. Really enjoyable! Quick plot, diverse characters, interesting setting—great read!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is a fantastic young adult/new adult paranormal romance. We meet Jazmine who is a supernatural that kills with a touch and has lived in isolation for quite a while then we meet Evan a low level vampire who comes to life when Jasmine touches him!! It’s an entertaining and exciting read with intriguing characters full of suspense, mystery and action and I am eager to read the next book.
This was a fun read, had the right amount of romance and action. I fell in love with the main characters. They are people I would want to know. became hooked from the beginning! Would definitely read more from this author.
This is book one of the Paranormal Rising series and the main characters are Jazmine St Clair and Evan Kitagawa. Jazmine was only nine years old and out with her father getting an ice cream treat and then picking up a pizza for the family. The sudden event which caused the return of magic to the world, affecting many previously without any magic, suddenly coming into powers, left her at age nine killing people simply by her touch! Her father died in the shop and her mother by a large plant outside, right in front of her. She has only her older sister Paige, who has drummed it into her to isolate herself and keep others safe from her deadly touch, who lives in an apartment on the floor above her with her boyfriend. Her sister was lucky to be given the gift of healing during that event, unlike Jazmine! The event also brought something called the Sickness, which was killing normal people as well as paranormals. No-one was safe. The only people she can touch without instantly killing them, are her sister and a friend called Theo who is a zombie, but not one that is falling to pieces and still with his own brain, even if he does need to eat human brain and flesh, as well as normal food to stay alive. She has lived a life of isolation and of everyone else in town or school, fearing her and staying well away.
There are dead and living vampires now, and about every sort of paranormal beings and creatures you can imagine and people with all sorts of magical powers! Evan is a lower level undead vampire, having been killed by a large water creature ad then waking up as a vampire, something that happened to others in his family. The only one left of his family is a brother, also changed into a vampire, but who left home as soon as it happened and he doesn’t know where he is. Luckily for Evan he was adopted as such, by an important person called Jasper, who is the leader within a vampire town and saved from going feral due to bloodlust. He is a bartender, enjoying the senseless and easy job and avoiding the stronger vampire fighters who act as hunters, for whatever threat they are sent to deal with. His boss tells him to take a night off after another run in with a group of these hunters, where his short temper almost started a fight. He is told to check out the big night market outside D.C. and to go an enjoy himself!
He bumps into a paranoid Jazmine by accident in the crowds, but she has magical bracelets on to keep everyone safe, so he is fine. Jazmine catches a glimpse of him as she turns just to double check the person was ok. Shortly after a series of screams start and when people start to run, it is obvious that something is seriously wrong! One of the girls Evan came with has been taken by one of the attackers, who are all dressed in black and have red eyes like vampires. The strange thing is that they and the person they grab then disappear, obviously teleporting to somewhere. Evan picks a fight with one of the men, to try and get some answers, but ends up losing his chance and being badly injured. He needs blood to heal and only his vampire speed to get him home. When he gets a punch in the chest, he gets a big shock. His heart starts to beat again and he suddenly needs to breathe, rather than just pretend to! The person who punched him was Jazmine and he doesn’t know how she did this, but he wants to know how and he is also more and more attracted to her. Once she calms down and realises he isn’t one of the attackers, despite his similar dress code, they end up stuck together for the night, both having lost their rides home.
Now the man who adopted Evan, wants him to go to the government town and spy on Jazmine and get as much information about the town and government as he can, after Jasper looks her up and finds out about her sister Paige’s fiancé, who is the deputy governor in their town! Jasper is not a man to be ignored and runs the vampire town with a strict hand, whilst looking like Santa. His easy smile are very deceiving and when Evan gets back, he was questioned about his extend time away and was unable to keep anything secret, as Jasper would have known if he lied. Now the only woman he has been even slightly interested in, is in danger from Jasper’s interest and all he wants to do, is to protect her! His infiltration of her government ruled town, is under false pretences and identity, but all he wants is to be close to her and get to know her better.
There are stories of outsiders hunting down paranormals and taking them away, for their blood and the power it contains, and using it as a superhuman serum, but now this new group of strangers kidnapped people right in front of them, humans with magic and paranormal alike, but not non-magical humans! Danger seems to be everywhere and these latest attacks have a large amount of magic mixed in with them. The government town where she lives is very strict with any strangers that come to town and they have to have a sponsor and be accompanied at all times! Jazmine’s touch had an immediate effect on Evan, but it was short lived. Just being back in her presence brings him alive and he can experience things again for the first time in years. They make a deal, as she still isn’t sure how much she can trust his reasons for being there with her, but he could be the chance she has to learn what it is like to touch another person, without any worry or fear of hurting or killing them! However much her sister Paige has tried to protect and keep her isolated from others, her fiancé Bryant wants to use her as bait against these new attackers. If she can get attacked by one of these people, they will die from her touch and then Bryant could use a necromancer to bring them back to life to be interrogated and find out where they operate from and where they are getting their teleport magic from!
Evan is totally against this dangerous role, but Paige is silent! Jazmine is told she would be doing her duty as a member of the government town and if she didn’t then there would be consequences! She doesn’t have to think too much, about what sort of consequences these might be, since she was nine people wanted to have her locked up without a key, as soon as they found to what her magic did. Bryant also wants to use her with their military forces, basically as an assassin, something she would never do. He believes her powers could be increased if she was trained, like her sister, possibly allowing her to kill people without touch, by food or by her mind. Also not an option Jazmine would want to volunteer for! She may well be getting painted into a corner, similar to Evan by the pressure from Jasper, to act as a spy for him. These kidnappings are on the rise and the governor of Jazmine’s town wonders if it as anything to do with Evan’s vampire town nearby, as it was vampires that attacked, possibly enhanced with magic to teleport. Both towns are playing games with Evan and Jazmine, for their own secret ends. There is little trust between the towns and the vampire town refuses to even have any government representatives visit to start any talks with them.
How Evan will manage to find out what it is about Jazmine that is so special and brought him back to life, and why they seem to have such a strong bond between them, may be impossible. They could very likely end up as victims themselves, having had some very close calls! An interesting storyline and I can’t wait to see what comes next for the two main characters. Can’t say I like the way Paige has supposedly protected her sister over the years and limited her freedom, nor how inhumane her fiancé Bryant seems to be, wanting to use Jazmine as a killing machine! Lots of weird and wonderful creatures and strange magical powers in this one and lots of unusual situations to read about. A very unique read with lots of similar paranormal characters, but then so much more! I would recommend this to one and all, just a great and easy read. A new author to me and certainly one I will be following. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
TL;DR This book is for the girlies who always wished their brooding YA romance was more explicit.
I’m not great at reviews, but I’m trying to write more of them in 2022 so bare with me.
I was a bit shocked this book is categorized as YA. imho it’s too spicy to be YA. Definitely new adult. It’s got that lovesick, puppy love YA feel to it, but it includes spicy enough scenes to keep older readers interested. Definitely perfect for the girlies out there who always wished Twilight was more explicit.
That being said this book is a really enjoyable, quick read. You could easily knock it out in one night. The world building doesn’t go too in depth, but I believe it takes place in the same universe as the author’s other novels. It does work as a stand alone story, but if you like it and you’re looking for more world building you could read the rest of her novels like I plan to.
The focus of this story is definitely on the romance between the main characters, and not the fantasy elements. It really works for this short read. The characters fall into many YA fantasy romance tropes, but not in a terrible or harmful way— more in a fun wink to the camera kind of way.
Jazmine is a strong and capable FMC, although she does find herself confused in certain social situations. As an autistic person I can relate. I like how blunt this can lead her to be, even if she does find herself embarrassed or anxious in some social situations.
Evan is your typical handsome, strong, loner MMC. He’s overly protective (borderline obsessive), and has a hard time regulating his emotions which is an interesting contrast to Jazmine’s more calculated approach.
The tropes only felt a little tired for me when it came to the side characters (evil adopted dad, overbearing sister, gay best friend, vapid sister etc), but there was still enough heart in most of them for it to be okay. In all they fueled the MC’s interactions in a good way which is important enough to forgive the boxes they were put in.
This book was enjoyable enough to get me to buy the rest of the author’s fantasy catalog, and as someone who only reads traditional books and not ebooks that’s a compliment in monetary investment alone. I’m excited to see if they are all in the same universe like I think they are. If they are, I’m really excited to see the universe explained more. I’d love to hear about the other paranormals that are around, and what their lives are like in this apocalyptic world.
Jazmine finds out she has an unusual power, one she's completely freaked out over after it shows up out of nowhere when the magical apocalypse took place. The way it shows up is bad enough. But that it seems to be beyond her control, and can hurt anyone and everyone she loves, brings it to a level where she recognizes it needs to be hidden; she needs to stay hidden.
Living with her sister, Paige, who helps her hide her power, and stay alive in the meantime, has become a way of life. A very lonely way of life. To avoid tragedy from occurring again, she lives a life of solitude where she is unable to leave her house without specialized clothing and gloves. Because anyone touching her would find it to be deadly.
However, an unusual conundrum comes into play. Vampires came in 2 types post-apocalypse: living and non-living. Evan is a non-living vampire. This means no heartbeat. He suffers from the typical vampire impairments; he can barely eat or tolerate the sun, he is unable to reproduce, and his heart will never beat again.
Or will it? What happens when you combine a woman whose touch kills with a man who is already dead? Interesting twist, no? I really got a kick out of this idea. And the storyline that goes along with this is wonderfully engaging as well, so I knew I found a gem when I read this as part of the Eternal Bite Collection. CC Solomon has a gift for storytelling, and for coming up with twists that make the stories that much more interesting. Deathly Touch is no different.
Going through their lives with them made me wish this was part of a series because I wanted more. Jazmine and Evan, not to mention Paige and Theo, the reanimated Zombie, and King, Evan's adopted father, lots of interesting characters, all came together in this unusual tale of post-apocalypse, paranormal oddities in the way Catherine does so well.
Make it a series, CC! Make it a series!
Very well done, CC Solomon, Very Well Done, indeed!
I received an advanced reader copy and am giving this review in my own words and of my own volition.
There were some issues of continuity but the world building is fantastic and the overall storyline was interesting and entertaining. I’m not a huge fan of YA/NA, so I recognize that part of my reaction has to do with that aspect. I didn’t notice it at the time, but it was still a good story.
5 ⭐️s= Perfect story, exciting, engrossing, well developed complex characters, solid plot with few to no holes, descriptive environments and place settings, great mystery elements, realistic dialogue, believable reactions and behaviors, loved this story so much I’d buy it.
4 ⭐️s= Great story, highly entertaining and enjoyable, exciting storyline, well developed characters and settings, a few discrepancies but nothing that can’t be overlooked. Believable actions and reactions, realistic dialogue, a book I would consider buying.
3 ⭐️s= Good but not great story, noticeable discrepancies, grammatical and or spelling errors, undeveloped characters or unbelievable behaviors but still readable. Nothing majorly wrong with the story, just not interesting enough for me to continue. Would not buy the book.
2 ⭐️s= Not offended by the story, but not interested enough to finish. Unbelievable characters, poor writing, many mistakes, big holes or discrepancies, many spelling or grammatical errors, characters not believable, unlikeable or TSTL.
1 ⭐️= Offensive, extremely poor writing, horrible characters, victimization, gaslighting, blatant abuse, unnecessary violence, child endangerment, or any other highly objectionable behaviors by Main characters. Would never buy this book, and do not recommend it to anyone.

Before I begin my review for Deathly Touch by C. C Solomon, I would personally like to thank the author, publishers and Booksprout for the opportunity to read this ARC and I have reviewed it honestly.
When a wave of magic swept the world and flooded a percentage of the population with supernatural powers, the world as Jazmyn knows it is utterly destroyed. Living with a power that causes anyone who touches her to die, Jazmyn is an introverted and lonely soul. When accidental contact with a handsome vampire named Evan causes his heart to beat again Jaz discovers the power of human touch. And a sinister group has been kidnapping paranormals...
Deathly Touch features, but is not limited to, the following themes: ○ YA Fantasy ○ Paranormal Romance ○ Supernatural powers ○ Post apocalyptic ○ Kidnappings and human trafficking
My overall rating for Deathly Touch is…
4 Stars!
This was such a tender YA tale of discovery and love. The thought of living with the inability to touch another is beyond horrifying and I loved experiencing Jazmyn's tortuous journey to love. Solomon has created a wonderous world of paranormals and powers in the aftermath of sickness, death and magical revelations. Add an unpredictable villian into the mix and you have surreal book.
While I appreciated many moments of this book, the relationship between Jazmine and Evan seemed based on the fact that Evan wanted to be a "living" vampire and Jazmine wanted someone she could touch who wouldn't die, despite Solomon's attempts to make it seem more. Because of that, the rating lost a star. The other lost star is for the ending.
Now for the good parts - The concept was really interesting with a paranormal "virus" coming and changing some people, causing the collapse of government and society. A virus was still affecting people and it was mentioned a lot but not sure what it was or why it was mentioned since it didn't really play a role. I digress. The new governments being set up, the world reorganizing, that was fascinating so the worldbuilding was mostly on point.
I also liked the characters individually. A girl cursed to kill everyone she touches? Fascinating implications. A vampire who wasn't turned but became one naturally? Also pretty cool.
Anyway, this is a pretty nice paranormal romance if you don't overthink all aspects of the plot.
*I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
After reading the other books by C.C. Solomon set it the same supernatural post-apocalyptic world I was excited to be asked to review this one.
Our main character Jazmine is a loner, a hermit and she spends her time reading and playing video games, honestly anything else about her after this was purely a bonus, she is my kinda gal. Although unlike myself she has a more reasonable excuse for being a recluse, she can kill people with her touch, bit inconvenient to say the least. As a result she's grown up detached, socially awkward but strong and self confident. She's only been able to touch two people, her best friend and her sister, that is until Evan shows up, a hot mysterious vampire....
I mean what's not to love, right?
To be honest, I did love this book, so much so I read it in one sitting. I loved the characters and the story and if I had to make one criticism it would be that it wasn't long enough. I would have liked to get to know some of the secondary characters more as some of them seemed intriguing but only made a passing appearance.
Overall if you're looking for supernatural romance you should definitely give Deathly Touch a read.
I'll be totally honest, the opening sentences had me going "what!" and sitting up straight in my chair. I'm certain most who read the first sentence of a book, which states rather unemotionally, as if it were completely normal, "Jazmine St. Claire was 9 when she killed her father. It had been summer time.'" Technically that's two but still. Got your attention? It definitely got mine! I was expecting a blood thirsty individual, with little or no feelings. What I got couldn't have been more different from my perception. I got this wonderful tale, so sweet and beautiful, focusing on a young girl who's very touch is deadly, yep, just one touch and you're a gonna and a vampire. By now you've scratching your head in confusion, how can a vampire and basically a killer be a sweet story? Well, trust me it is! You'll have to read the book to see where I'm coming from. What superb characters! All of them. Although, there was something about Brandt that set my teeth on edge from the onset. It was one of those books that immediately had putting the "good guys" and the "bad guys" in two distinct camps in my mind and guess what? I was wrong again! Cudos to the author! What happens when magic is released into the world? A whole lot of new paranormals is what! What a fascinating concept, an even more fascinating read! If you want a book that keeps you connected from the start, this one's for you!
“You touched me, and my heart started beating. I started breathing.”
Jazmine is only nine years old when magic is introduced to the world and her life, and it means that everything is going to change. Jazmine quickly learns that in this new world her touch is deadly and that means she has to change everything she knows about survival. And so for ten years, she lives a recluse life with only her sister and a zombie for company. But when Jazmine runs into Evan an attractive bartender who also happens to be an undead vampire he may just challenge her lonely existence.
If you’re in the mood for a relatively tame paranormal romance, Deathly Touch by CC Solomon is a great fit. It’s a quick and engaging read that doesn’t require a lot of extra attention to get through. If you like romance driven stories you should definitely give this one a try!
I received a free copy through Booksprout so I could read and review!
I enjoyed the book and the world the author is creating about life after the apocalypse. In this story, not all magical talents are great the main character has the touch of death and that can be extremely lonely. Jazmine lives life in a government town which provides her protection and a monotonous life until one day her only friend convinces her to go to an unprotected market against her sisters best wishes. That triggers a chain reaction where she meets another supernatural whom she can touch without killing him. It also is the catalyst for her being put into action when the market is attacked. The man she meets is Evan who happens to be " undead" vampire whom slowly wants to explore what he feels when they are together and she gets to explore another human connection. This story ends up trying to figure out who is behind the attacks and tries to show that life can happen after dealing with a lonely power.
You know the minute you start reading this story you are in for a ride. The tragedy that has befallen Jazmine causes her to hide in her apartment afraid to touch people. She can only touch two, her sister and a Zombie and now a Vampire. Thanks to her, Evan the vampire now has a beating heart and he can breath making him a undead vampire. This is all due to Jazmine hitting him. A lot of detail can be found in this story so you are able to understand why and when the world changed for the character's, their families and friends. What is beautiful is watching a lonely girl and boy find each other, grow close to each other, fear that they may not be able to be together and then hope they have their happy ending. This was a nice read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book that had such a unique and eye catching storyline from just reading the blurb. Instantly you can't help but feel terrible for Jazmine who was alerted to her killing touch when she caused her own father's death. She has spent ten years locked away for fear of touching anyone and that lack of affection is so sad. When she meets Evan the undead vampire, they are both shocked that his heart restarts and she finally learns what it feels like to be held like an average person. These moments in the story are so emotional and deep between them. I love how protective Evan is after the vampire attacks and how he doesn't want to leave her side. This was perfectly written to be entertaining, action packed and full of feeling.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
T0his book hooks you in, right from the get-go. It usually takes me several chapters to be really into a book, but this one I couldn't wait to get back to right from the beginning. I love that it has a unique premise of sudden paranormal powers. This was pretty tragic for our MC, but she's learnt to cope. I like how she found a niche job that suits her circumstances and the community she lives in. She's understandably cautious, given how deadly her touch is, but still agrees (eventually :D ) to go out to the bazaar and has a great time ... until it is attacked and she meets Evan. There's some family bonds, romance, powers, action and mystery solving. I try to balance all my reviews so they are not all positive, but I can't find anything negative to say about this dystopian new adult urban fantasy book!
I read this book in one sitting...it was so hard to put down, so I just didn't, lol. It was a great book with wonderful characters living in an original and unique world the author has built them. It was action-packed and didn't get boring. There were a few "fight scenes" that I thought was too easily solved by the main character, but then again, she has some pretty powerful abilities. I love stories that have twists and turns, taking me by surprise and the baddie in this story was not someone that was even on my radar. Plus there was just enough romantic angst to keep my heart fluttering. Awesome start to a very promising series!.

Jazmine can kill with one touch, and after killing someone accidentally when she was younger, she lives her life ostracized from everyone. Evan is an undead vampire and when Jazmine touched him, it brought him back to life. The pair are curious about each other and but she's mistrustful of his intentions.
This was a great blend of genres and tropes that included dystopian urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Jazmine and Evan have a unique story that really caught my attention when I read the synopsis. The author has a unique plot and created great characters.
Unfortunately, the writing needed a little work. It was a little flat and didn't give enough excitement to the scenarios that were happening.
I loved the storyline of a woman with the touch of death , and a vampire she can bring to life but this books was very immature maybe it’s meant for teens but a lot of the issues between the “couple”’were lack of communication. They just spent the whole book assuming their feelings for each other instead of discussing them . Jasmine insecurity was understandable but at some point after spending so much time with Evan she should have known him enough to not think he was “mad” at her for killing a man he cared about who was about to beat him senseless and almost killed him , especially since he thank her for it . They were just 2 immature adults doing immature things and it got annoying .
I don't remember where I came across this book. It had been sitting in my library for at least a month when I decided to give it a go. Its refreshing to find a story that isn't just steam. I'm 43 and often read YA for this reason. The Female lead is strong smart and capable. The male lead is respectful as well as the previous attributes. There is instant feelings but its not jumping into immediate I love you's. I love the post apocalyptic paranormal plot with a fresh twist. There seems to be a broad world being built in this first book. I look forward to the next one!
My god was this book awesome! So let's start with my reader problems, first the world building. It just was too out there for me. And lastly the fight scenes were too short and I felt like the mc just breezed through them with no trouble. Now onwards to the good. I loved the characters and the romance. It was a slow burn that left me wanting more. I never saw who the bad guy was which made the book more suspenseful for me. The story definitely kept my attention as I read it in only six hours. It was so hard to put down. Overall this book was a great read that kept my attention and leave me wanting more.
Jazmine, a website and game developer, has spent most of her life unable to touch people until she met Evan, a bartender, at a night market. As the story progresses things take a dangerous turn, the connection goes beyond physical, and letting go of their fears doesn’t mean their dreams will come true. C.C. Solomon created the beginnings of a long lasting romance in Deathly Touch. The magical apocalypse set some things in motion that the reader is just going to freak out about, but in a good way.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Jazmine has been living in isolation ever since the paranormal became part of her life and she developed a supernatural ability which is more like a curse. Leaving her house for the first time in ages, the festival is disrupted by vampires and she is thrown together with Evan, a mysterious and alluring man who can survive her deathly touch. However, this interaction leads to more mystery and danger than any of them thinks.. Interesting and fast paced story with complicated protagonists and a setup full of promises and mysteries. There is a lot of tension and volatile emotions, blooming romance, and a lot of character development. Great starter to a new series.
Yes, I am an adult, but I loved this book. It had the best romance, so sweet and tender. A great slow burn. The will it or won't it happen was perfect. I really feel like this is a great start to an amazing series about this new post-apocalyptic world where magic has killed technology. Maybe one day the author will revisit her world and give us more? I would love to see what happens to Paige, even a prequel for how Theo meet Matt... This is a great stand alone with the potential to be so much more!
If Evan never came back in the story I would have felt some type of way but the epilogue sealed it for me. The book was a good read. Some sentences were really confusing and I felt like some of the writing was from the authors point of view. But this was good reading and there weren't too many errors. I found myself not even realizing I was towards the end of the book. I literally was on the last chapter and I didn't know it. Which makes this feel like something I could continue reading. Great job from the author. Great purchase awesome read.
