Great political influence of Uncle Tom's Cabin , novel against slavery of 1852 of Harriet Elizabeth Beecher Stowe, American writer, advanced the cause of abolition.

Lyman Beecher fathered Catharine Esther Beecher, Edward Beecher, Henry Ward Beecher, and Harriet Beecher Stowe, another child.

Harriet Elizabeth Beecher Stowe, an author, attacked the cruelty, and reached millions of persons as a play even in Britain. She made the tangible issues of the 1850s to millions and energized forces in the north. She angered and embittered the south. A commonly quoted statement, apocryphally attributed to Abraham Lincoln, sums up the effect. He met Stowe and then said, "So you're the little woman that started this great war!" or so people say.

💕 "we children" were employed in chopping mince for pies to a most wearisome fineness, and in pounding cinnamon, allspice, and cloves in a great lignum-vitæ mortar; and the sound of this pounding and chopping reëchoed through all the rafters of the old house with a hearty and vigorous cheer most refreshing to our spirits 💕

I'm not sure why it says it is a 16 page book when I got it off hoopla and it was 43 pages. That aside, a very nice, feel-good peek into Thanksgiving gathering told in old-time language that you have to pay attention to or miss out on some of the humor.

Interesting how Goodreads claims this story is 16 pages long, but I read 43 on Hoopla which also claims that there are only 16 pages to read.

Dear Harriet Beecher Stowe,

I LOVE your writing, your word choice, your humor… I’m blown away by this short story, the beauty, honesty, simplicity, love and everything else you used to transport me not only to your time period, but also to conjure up memories of my own Thanksgivings past so that I feel a connection to you, even though I don’t know you in person. I feel a renewed love for the season as well as for our country.

I feel close to you, yet we are separated by decades (centuries?) and miles. We’re just Americans enjoying our National day of Thanksgiving and I am so thankful to have read your story.

Thankfully,

A wonderful and nice story about how Harriet Beecher Stowe spent her Thanksgiving. It helps people take a look into her life and how she celebrates.

It contains old English language and it feels like taking a history lesson down memory lane. Back then, they gathered and made everything by hand, while we can easily go down to a local market or store and buy the items we need to put together a nice Thanksgiving Meal/Feast to share with loved ones.

The main thing that we both relate to was that Thanksgiving brings together family and joy as we spend time together and express how thankful we are.

....... Depending on Font and size and possible device, I think page length changes for each version. When I read it on Hoopla on my ipad, it was actually 16 pages for me.
