Exerting social pressure and doing someone a favor so that they will then “owe you” were offered as viable persuasion techniques. How disappointing. It struck me as immature and manipulative. It also conflicted with the author’s emphasis on building trust and sincere connections with people. The chapters on mastering body language and the power of positivity were good reminders on effective communication: what we say, how we say it and what we do sends the complete message.
Would I say this book was life changing? No. But it did refresh my memory on quite a few AP Psych studies, and pulled together some basic communication strategies into a decent narrative on retraining one’s habits of communication!
As a former shy kid, I’ve done my fair share of googling “how to make friends”, and therefore was fairly familiar with the tactics discussed in this book. However, if you are someone who hasn’t ever had to try and evaluate building relationships/body language/etc then this could be an interesting read for you.
I read this book quickly and found it to be an informative, enjoyable and enlightening read. I was attracted by the title, wasn’t sure what to expect and found myself pleasantly surprised by such content as “embodied cognition” I liked the authors writing style. Positivity has always been my method of choice too and now I feel compelled to read some of the other books he has written!
This book is about how to attempt t no persuade or influence people to do what you want them to do (like buy what you are selling). It joins a long list of books about persuasion and influence. Nevertheless, it is a fairly good review for sales people who are trying to increase sales.
Aunque creo que el libro se pudo haber resumido bastante, pues incluye demasiados ejemplos largos, si hay puntos nuevos y fácil de aplicar que no encontré en libros más amplios sobre este tema.
