This is a collection of essays that reminds me of works by Samantha Irby or David Sedaris. The author chronicles humiliating things that happened and pokes fun at them. She also pokes fun at the human experience of overreacting and the ridiculous ways that we respond to life. She talks about everything from an experience with Whole Foods, her period, dance cardio, and her beef with Lady Gaga.

I love how the author launched into her life with her essay that went viral. It was about an unpleasant stomach experience she had while on a date with her now-husband. This essay catapulted her career. This shows us that sometimes the things we think are the worst things we think could happen to us can be one of the funniest things and one of the best things that happened in our lives.

Funny, but with an edge that hits on female issues more frankly than I would be willing to write about, but yet they are clean, which is important to me. Anna Lind Thomas looks for the stories in the everyday. She doesn't take herself too seriously, but yet can deliver some thought-provoking comments.

The book was a quick read and humorous; it was a good diversion from my normal reading life and I enjoyed it. I'm not a big humor reader, but I do enjoy the occasional book that will make me laugh or at least smile.

However, near the end of the book she wrote something that I hope will stick with me. It is not humorous; it is sobering and yet hopeful. Anna wrote this book recently so the pandemic is present in everyone's minds. She says this,
"This morning over coffee, I chatted with my mom and said, a little sarcastically, 'I wonder what my girls will remember about a pandemic.'
"'You', she said, pausing to take a sip, 'They'll mostly remember you.'"

This hit me squarely; the pandemic has affected all of us so much and it's easy to want to blame everyone else for the things that have happened, the relationships that have been hurt, etc., but what our children are seeing is us and how we handle it will be the thing that they remember. This can apply to so many different things.

One more quote on caring about what other people, especially strangers think of us:
"It's always the simple, mundane moments, the tiniest details of my beloveds that give me the most courage...It's kind of embarrassing when you think about it. Who needs to be liked by strangers when so loved by little girls audacious enough to ask for avocado with salt right before bed."

I enjoyed this book and wouldn't be opposed to reading another book by Anna Lind Thomas

I received this book from Thomas Nelson via NetGalley and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The cover of this book attracted my eye, and I thought I would read this book of essays on life. I thought the author was older based on her picture, but I enjoyed most of her stories even though it was not what I was expecting. This is a tongue in cheek collection of things that happen in life and looking at the humorous side of them. I thought some of the female issues were a little too frank, but overall, this book made me laugh, snicker, and wince at times. The essays run the gamut of life from her experience with Whole Foods, her period, dance cardio, incidents and moments with her children and husband, and the stomach incident that launched her career and changed her destiny.

I will admit, I had never heard of Anna Lind Thomas, but I will look for more of her essays and books. She writes about things that many of us deal with or have dealt with on a regular basis. As this book was written shortly after the pandemic and the lockdowns, there is some mention of those times in the book. In the book Anna is tells of a conversation with her mother:

"This morning over coffee, I chatted with my mom and said, a little sarcastically, 'I wonder what my girls will remember about a pandemic.'
"'You', she said, pausing to take a sip, 'They'll mostly remember you.'"

Although she was referring to the time during the pandemic, I think it fits everything we do in life. Anna Lind Thomas' children will remember a mother who is able to laugh, have fun and not get down on things that could derail you and life. I laughed, spit out my coffee at times and even snorted while reading this book. I think we all need to learn to laugh at ourselves and we would be happier and healthier for it. I recommend this fun book. I listened to this book and the author reads it, which added even more authenticity to the essays. It was like sitting and having coffee with her while she regaled me with her life's experiences.

I really like the cover of this book. Once you have read the book you realise that it’s a fun representation of the author, and is an apt depiction of women in general trying to do a hundred things at once.

I’ll be totally honest I hadn’t really heard of Anna Lind Thomas before reading this book. I guess some would say well why did I want to read about her and her life? The thing is the book may be about Anna, but, the majority of us will identify with a few or rather quite a lot of the situations she describes. I had fancied reading a non fiction book, and this one has Entertainment listed as a genre too and after reading and loving Tova Leigh’s book, You Did What, I was hoping this one would have some funny stories within it too, and it did. Though all the stories in this book are about incidents that happened to Anna and her family. I easily slipped into the book and really enjoyed the writing style of the book, it really feels like Anna is chatting to you, telling you the stories herself.

I found it both amusing, yet relieving to know that I am not the only person who ends up in fits of giggles at really inopportune, inappropriate moments. A piece of advice when reading the book, be aware it will make you smirk, snicker, giggle and laugh out loud to, so if you’re on public transport be ready for a strange look or two.

I could totally identify with the strong inner need to but the latest technology and items when you have a baby. That overwhelming need that has you crawling out of bed to check your baby is breathing okay at 3am in the morning! I also laughed knowingly at the whole lying about how much something would cost! Not wanting to wear jewellery your other half has given you as you really hate it but at that stage in your relationship you didn’t want or dare to upset his feelings and tell him what you really thought.

I thought this book was a really enjoyable collection of real life stories. It’s written in such a way that you end up feeling that Anna is a good friend and someone you can genuinely identify with, along with recognising and seriously empathising with some of the key events in her life that she share in the book. At first, I had thought these funny stories would be a collection of tales that Anna had gathered from other people as well as her sharing some of her own, but this is all about Anna, her family and things, sometimes unusual things and other times mundane every day things that have happened.

Summing up I really did enjoy this book. It was refreshingly different and I would certainly look at any other book written by this author.

I received an advanced copy of this book courtesy of the publisher.

This book's description promises to make you "laugh, cry, and cry from laughing," and boy, did it deliver.

True humor lies in its relatability, and Anna Lind Thomas is nothing if not extremily endearing and relatable to readers in any stage of life. She has a unique ability to pull levity and snide observations out of every situation—sometimes strikingly even the bleakest, most heart-wrenching moments of her life. From her hilarious description of an awkward moving experience involving her mother and her "marital drawer" to her recounting of the "fart that (almost) altered her destiny" to her realization that she would willingly sacrifice her husband to escape the clutches of an intruder, I cry-laughed, snort-laughed, and laughed so hard that no sound came out throughout my read of this beautifully quirky and moving collection of essays.

Each chapter would make for a perfect daily read to lift your spirits!

Hilarious. It's been a long time (think early Jen Lancaster; and Jenny Lawson) since I've been laughing in bed, trying to contain it and not wake my husband (or 100 lb dog who shares the bed.) I'd never heard of Anna Lind Thomas, so this was a great surprise. These essays will make you laugh out loud. The last bit of the book was a little slower than the beginning, but I was still quite invested. I also admire that she is Christian, but didn't hit the reader over the head with that. She mentions God, and her faith a couple of times, but it's in passing. Kudos to the author for that. I'll give this book 5 starts, which isn't common for me. Thanks to NetGalley and Nelson Books for the eARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

I've been a fan of Anna Lind Thomas since I came across her blog years ago and then again when her date story went viral. That being said We'll Laugh About This (Someday): is an assortment of essays about her life from childhood through raising a young family. I was disappointed that it wasn't as humorous as I expect from her writing style. Another thing that surprised me about halfway through it became a few essays became religious which makes sense since it's essays about her life. Overall I give this a 2.75 star rating. There are some humorous essays but that's not the theme of the book. I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

We'll Laugh About This (Someday) by Anna Lind Thomas was my introduction to the popular humour writer and it was a warm one. The collection of essays provide random snapshots into the life of a writer, wife, and mother, and all are linked by their very relatability. Several had me chuckling quietly to myself, others right out loud, but I was most taken by the vulnerability and spot on observations of the highs and lows of modern life. Ms Lind takes a very conversational approach in her musings, and I found the entire collection to be honest, and at the same time prolific, in sharing an unfiltered glimpse into the human condition.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Nelson Books for an ARC.

This generation's Erma Bombeck, able to observe life in all it's messy, confusing, silliness, challenges and humor.

I was introduced to Anna Lind Thomas via Facebook and her page Hahas for Hoohas.

The essays were funny, sad, inspiring, and overall human. I am trying to look back at some of the same incidents in my life and see if I can now find the humor in the situation instead of the humiliation. The stories inspire hope.

Good, clean, fun.

NOTE: I did have an early copy of the book.

I can't recommend this book enough! While this book is meant to be humorous, there's much more than just humor on these pages. I laughed, I cried, but most of all, I felt here's a person who understands that life is complex, never easy, but things do work out in the end. Anna is completely relatable as an author. I even found a chapter that I felt she wrote specifically for me, and it touched my heart in a deep way. This is one of those books that you treat yourself to, when you need that moment of "me time." It's a book to savor. Enjoy!

Loved this book! I've been following this author for years and I love her hilarious life stories! I've read less than 5 books in my life that have actually made me laugh out loud, and I laughed out loud multiple times in this book! Anna's stories are not only funny, but inspirational as well. She seems like a fun down to earth person with a great talent to make people laugh. (Seriously the first time I ever read her fart story, I was crying from laughing so hard) I definitely recommend this book! You'll love it!

Thanks to NetGalley and Nelson Books for the review copy.

Is this a fun read? Yes, I would say so. Very humorous. I did not really know, what kind of book I was about to read when I started. I had no expectations. Therefore, I was caught by a surprise. This is a very fun read.

I would say, however, that it takes a little while to get fully caught in the book. Nonetheless, midway through, the book is so much fun that you do not want to lay it down.

The writing style is very personal, which I really liked. Anna Lind Thomas truly writes in a catching language.

Loved reading this collection of essays by this Nebraska author. The essays were funny and heartfelt. As a mother of a little girl, I especially loved the stories about Anna’s relationship with her daughters and the love they share. This book is a good reminder that all of us can persevere through hard times but also that it’s ok to be human - to struggle through those times, or to briefly lose sight of what truly matters. Anna helps put it all in perspective while making you laugh and making you think.

This book will have you laughing and crying. The humor is well done and is intermixed with moments of seriousness and reflection. It’s a fabulous pick for a ladies’ book club or as a gift for your best girlfriend. Anna Lind Thomas has a gifted way of telling a story that you can completely relate to or thank God that didn’t happen to you! I highly recommend it. And, oh yeah, this book has the funniest toot story you have ever heard! (Thank God that didn’t happen to me!)

This short essay style book is just what is needed for a pick-me-up. One chapter a day - if you can put it down, and you will feel so uplifted. I enjoyed this book so immensely, that I have now read it 2x within weeks of each other. I just wasn't sure if I missed something! Light and down to earth, you know this is true life experience!
Anna Lind-Thomas delivers just as promised for this one - I look forward to more!

Anna Lind Thomas is about the same age as my own grown daughters. This book was like peeking into their lives and reliving some of those hysterical moments that everyone has uniquely experienced yet commonly shared. A Simply delightful read that kept me laughing and giggling for hours. I enjoyed it so much that my first copy is completely worn out from me carrying it around in my purse and sharing my favorite parts with just about anyone who would listen.

This is a compilation of essays about everyday life moments from Anna Lindt Thomas, reminding us not to take life too seriously.
I enjoyed her humor and writing. While some stories kept my attention and got a laugh out of me (the infamous fart essay), some fell short (motherly stories - I can't relate).
I would give 3.5 stars if I could and would read her second book.
Thank you, Netgalley, publisher, and author.

Funny easy read. I listened to the audiobook read by the author and the delivery added to the experience I think.
This is a fun choice if you want something light and think being a woman can be hilarious. I hadn't heard the word spermicide in a while and that's something this book delivers. The fart story that made her notable is really funny.
Probably not for people that find delicate things too precious.
I'll probably check out her next book. Especially when I need a laugh.

So far I have loved both of the Anna Lind Thomas books I have read! They have kept me laughing and wanting more. She has a great casual writing style. Love the stories about her pregancy and eating ribs in bed in the hospital. Also love the whole foods essay and wish I could pop in on Saturday to get a read!

This was a collection of essays or observations on the author’s everyday life. They were written in a friendly, chatty tone and most were quite humorous. The lifestyle of the author was very different from mine, so there were certain themes that didn’t resonate with me much. But all in all, a fun and entertaining read.

I was unfamiliar with this author but wanted to read it because it looked funny. It's a story about her life, focused on her family, and I did laugh out loud a few times. She has a way of relating what goes on at home in a sweet but realistic way. I especially loved how she talks about her girls.

Funny, light read

Entertaining take on moving through life’s challenges. Unfamiliar with the author, this was an enjoyable change of pace from my normal genres. While I wasn’t rolling on the floor, some essays gave me a good giggle, and some instigated second hand embarrassment. Great book to take along if you spend time waiting in doctors offices, kids pickup lines or practices, etc.

HILARIOUS. The funniest book I have read recently, if not ever. Thomas’ essays are bite sized and super relevant for me at this stage in life. I appreciate how she can find humor in the mundane, especially since, as a stay at home parent, I find myself surrounded by mundane daily.
