In a world of dwindling hope, love has never mattered more...
A brief romantic sojourn to the dazzling city of Ingleton turns into an impromptu shopping trip when duty rears its ugly head in the form of an unavoidable social event. The newly invested Wolf Laird, Captain Nathan J. Northland; his new wife and immortal magic-user, Ursula; and their beloved vampire swain, Vlad, must present themselves at court, and there's no way the trio can politely decline. While Vlad and Ursula have prepared for just such an eventuality -- being over four hundred years old helps -- unfortunately Nathan has not. What formal attire Nathan does have is completely unsuitable for the occasion, not only is it decades out of date it's a little too rustic chic. It's unacceptable, not that Nathan can understand that.
Vlad and Ursula have their work cut out for them. Thankfully they have a few tricks up their respective sleeves to quite literally get the shirt off of Nathan's back.

Fans of Hunger Pangs will love this missing moments novella featuring our intrepid trio. This fluffy and sweet story contains an established triad relationship with only some mild flirting and kissing. The novella can stand on its own and features a happy for now ending.
I did not realize it when I started reading the excerpt of the short included in the first Hunger Pangs book that there would be spoilers for the second book that has not come out yet. Not a huge deal because I generally enjoy knowing what is about to happen about as much as the anticipation of it to come but I think I would have liked a warning in the actual book itself. Overall, I really enjoyed this snippet of their lives to come.
Such a precious moment between moments. Lovely short story of the trio with kindness and excitement as usual. Despite the shorter format, I love how Joy manages to casually reaffirm Nathan's injuries being present (and manageable) and care and consent being absolutely key in this relationship (several times and each brought me joy)
This whole book is one giant spoiler for book 2, I think. It hints at a lot of stuff that hadn't happened in book one. It doesn't elaborate and I'm sure if you want to go into book 2 blind you shouldn't read it.
I personally don't care so getting a peek at what the future holds for Vlad, Nathan and Ursula was lovely and makes me that much more excited for the next novel in the series.
Joy's website warns that this novella contains spoilers for book 2, and this is true, but I simply didn't have the will power to wait for the next book when there was perfectly delightful content already waiting for me. This was short and spicy, but oh so good, and I will eagerly await the next installment.
Sadly this novella left a lot to be desired as far as the writing. I'm a little bummed that the characters I loved in the first book now seem flat and one dimensional. Hopefully the next full length book breathes back the life into our undead friends
i need more!! i love their dynamic, it's just perfect. huge spoilers in this, though - after reading the first page i actually said WHAT?? out loud and went off to make sure i hadn't missed something.
I cannot wait to read more about these three amazing characters. The story and the characters and impressively well-made and though out, I'm always delighted to read more about them. This is just a short story but is still a whirlwind of emotions, colours, feelings, sex (or read the 'fluff and fangs if you'd rather not read about sex) and interpersonal dynamics. LOVE
