This was a spooky and creepy story by author, Lee Mountford!

A little backstory:

Perron Manor located in Northern England has been around for centuries and ever since it has been built the manor has taken the lives of people that have lived in it. The manor has been other things besides just "a manor" but that doesn't make it all that less scary as when people move in or even stay the night, things happen that will make the people either run screaming into the night or they might just disappear altogether and may never be heard from again.

This is an awesome story and one that I became entrenched in quickly from the first chapter. I am not going into too much detail about the book because of spoilers as you will just have to read the book to gain the essence of the story. It is told from a paranormal investigator's view as to how the manor became haunted from the time it was built to recent history. I love how author, Lee Mountford weaved the story as he wrote it in a way that makes it seem the story could be told like the true paranormal books out there.

Reading the story from the paranormal investigator's view reminds me of those true haunting books and as I became engrossed in the story I would sometimes forget that this was a work of fiction as that is how close to the real thing it almost seems.

This book is a prelude to a book series that the author has coming out soon as this book sets up the rest of the series. I will be looking forward to reading the other books in this series to continue on with the hauntings of Perron Manor and what is in store for its next victims. Giving this book five

It went really quickly and nothing much happened. This told you a little bit of history. I wish there had been more. It was, after all a paranormal investigation at a "most haunted location".

The calm before the storm? This house is just getting started.

Inside: Perron Manor is a prequel to Lee Mountford's book Haunted: Perron Manor. I absolutely love, love, love haunted house stories. I came across the Haunted series online and jumped right in. Glad I did!

I listened to the audio book version of this prequel. Narrated by Hannibal Hills, the audio is about 3.5 hours long. Hills has a pleasant voice, reads at a nice pace and does an excellent job of voice acting! I enjoyed his performance from beginning to end.

This prequel delves into the history of the fictional Perron Manor, the horrific occurrences at the house on Halloween 1982 and describes a 2014 weekend investigation of the home by a team of paranormal researchers. I listen to a lot of podcasts, and this story had the tone of a paranormal podcast with the added horror aspects that fiction can add. Loved it!

This is the first book I have read by Lee Mountford, and I will definitely be reading the rest of his writing! I enjoyed this prequel and Haunted: Perron Manor. Great spooky tale about a evil house!

Can't wait to read more by this author!

I purchased this title after I had pre-ordered the next in Series, and what a worthwhile purchase! INSIDE PERRON MANOR: THE INVESTIGATION scared me senseless! My hair must have turned white; I wanted to sleep with all the lights on. (Yes, I read at night, all alone with my canine companion. ) I prefer my Horror implacable, and this novel fully qualifies. It couldn't be much more implacable. Perron Manor (over the course of more than 800 years!) had been a monastery, residence, dungeon, empty, orphanage, residence , hotel, residence, and always--always!!--death trap. I can't wait for the next in Series and I hope we learn more about what and who exists inside Perron Manor and in the land, and about the strange tribe in the forest, and the Basement....so much to discover and terrify! Bring it on!

This is a fictional haunted house story done in the style of a documentary.
I think that is the mistake with this, it is covering horrifying details over the centuries but in the style of a dry British documentary. If this had been done in a boots on the ground documentary behind the scenes situation it might have hit but this was almost snooze-worthy. He drones on about in 16 42 or whatever, the lord was found hung from the flag pole disemboweled, it is not a boring sentence but somehow nothing pops in this, it is like those documentaries on Sunday afternoons about oak barrels and it should not be.

It is short but felt long which is annoying because this author has a great story here.

I could not put this down! Spine chilling to know the things that have been witnessed at Perron Manor! I’m a huge believer in life after death but usually stick to the nicer side of that thought. This opened my eyes to a whole new level of it!
I’m excited to get stuck into the haunted series now that I know the history to the magnificent building that holds so many secrets and horror….. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was able to finish “Haunted: Perron Manor” (Book 1) just before the end of the year and was looking forward to reading this prequel (Book 0) of sorts. It didn’t disappoint and since it wasn’t long, I finished it in one day/two sittings. It answered many of the questions I had from Book 1 and could be read before or after, like I did.

Unique in that Mountford writes this through a paranormal investigator character from Book 1 and the prequel is referenced in the first of the Haunted series.

Pretty good introduction to a haunted manor. Thankfully I have the novel, because it ended way too soon. It’s spooky but not haunting. I sure hope Perron Manor creeps me out, because this short story had potential.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – The beginning of the nightmare, and it still holds its grip.

Coming back to Inside Perron Manor after finishing few books in the haunted series felt like revisiting the root of all evil—and let me just say, the chills still hit just right.

This book sets the tone for everything that follows. The atmosphere is heavy, dark, and absolutely cursed in the best way possible. I knew some of what was coming, but still, the way the manor breathes dread into every page? Unmatched.

Even knowing what happens later didn’t take away from the creeping sense of unease this book delivers. The hauntings are quieter here, but that slow, psychological horror is what makes it so unnerving. It’s like the manor is watching you instead of the characters.

The pacing dipped in a few spots, but I’ll forgive that because this is where the true terror started—and you can feel it building. It was wild to go back and catch all the little details I missed the first time, now that I know the full story.

It might not have the aggressive jump scares like the later books, but Inside Perron Manor is the spine of the series. The quiet horror. The beginning of the end. The calm before all hell breaks loose.

Inside Perron Manor has me in a confused state of mind, nothing new there but still, it was good-don't get me wrong but it was fiction masquerading as fact which completely baffled me. (much like my lack of proper sentence structure and punctuation confuse people who aren't me).

Was I scared reading it? No

Have I finally found the perfect ghost story? No

Will I read more by the Author? Yes, I have the next in the series lined up in my kindle ready.

I read it in one sitting at 3am this morning when I couldn't sleep.

This was a free download from the author Lee Mountford- Perron Manor. This short story is the prequel to Perron Manor and gives more insight into the history and hauntings of this house. It reads like a true life investigation. It’s a great concept. I think if I decide to read any more “horror” genre books, I will be reading them by this author👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not Pazuzu Again ???

Finished Reading this very short book as a prequel to Perron Manor. It was NOT at all scary and rolled my eyes when the entity in the basement reveals itself as Pazuzu on a Demon Board ??? Really ??? At least it was only 130 pages and a quick read .....

Spooktober 2020 Book 2

2 for 2 so far in great horror reads this month

Lee Mountford has finally done what I knew he’s been capable of for a while now, and that’s being able to pen the 5 star book that’s been just out of reach these last couple of years.

Serving as a prequel novella for the upcoming trilogy of the same name, Inside does it’s job as both a fictional non fiction text (I know, weird way to write that), and a literary teaser of things to come.

This kind of story is old hat and overdone, and Inside Perron Manor doesn’t bring anything new to the haunted house sub genre of horror, but Mountford uses every trope to his full advantage, making this particular tale of ghosts and demons creepy and compelling and 100% his best work yet...even if it tops out at a measly 119 pages.

And better yet, this got me salivating for what Mountford has planned for this series.

I always knew Mountford had it in him to be able to write something great and, in stepping back from his more extreme, gore infused work, he’s definitely succeeded in making a great story.

I absolutely devoured this book. It was one of those rare beasts - a book that you can't stop thinking about, even when you're not actually reading it. the

I found the style extremely interesting, written as part investigative journalism, and it flowed seamlessly between recounting the history of a paranormal research event, and the follow-up research.

Absolutely recommend this one, and will certainly be reading much more from this fine author, who I am delighted to have discovered. 'Inside Perron Manor' is a really good read, and as I say, I'll be looking for more of Lee Mountford's work before long!

I hardly ever gives books bad reviews, especially books by authors I like, but I had to on this one.

This was one of the hardest books I’ve ever had to finish (10 days). Many times I almost gave up, but I kept pressing hoping that it would get better...it didn’t.

Most of the book wasn’t even in “story form”, but felt as if I was reading a newspaper. I’ll get L.M.’s next book, and hopefully it’ll be better.

One of the most chilling books I have read. I received an ARC of this book and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. All Lee Mountford's books are rivetting. This was no exception. The description of the evil permeating the manor is graphic. Visiting the manor is fatal and very few escape. Will the torment of the trapped souls never end?

The book is a 1st person view. The author, David Ritter, a guy interested in paranormal investigation takes upon himself finding the complete or as much as it is available the true story of Perron Manor, a place that's intrigued him since early age. First mention of the land is 1282, from that moment, its mentioned that there were "strange looking people" occupying the land. The land was allegedly sour, riddled with a malignant essence. David goes on describing all he's found from before the land had a building on it until his own personal experience in the two nights he and his crew were granted to investigate by the reluctant owner. Over the years the place has been a monastery, a garrison/torture chamber, a hospice, an orphanage, a hotel, a family home... Some horrible events had been recorded taking place on site. Talks of occultism taking place on premises, people disappearing, never to be seen as a natural presence again. Do they have anything to do with the "strange looking people"? Is it just coincidence? Are people letting their imagination run with some of the folklore? From the Perron Manor series this was the book I read last, and it bounds all the others together.

David Ritter and his paranormal investigator team look and search into Britain’s most haunted house - Perron Manor, which is of paramount importance to the 9 books that follow. The prolonged history of the Perron Manor is extensive, changing hands, owners and being firstly monastery when it was initially intended to serve as when it was built. Than we have it being as children’s orphanage, and gaps in the timeline, as people were fleeing and keeping distance from it due to the horrors that happened during the centuries.

Last and not least, closing in to the present times, it is bought by the mysterious Mr.Blackwater, who has a special interest in the dark arts, old and rare artifacts that open the story of the following books, after it is inherited by his grandson who follow in his footsteps , and to Sarah and Chloe sisters afterwards, which is the turning point in it’s storyline.

Being somehow the intro to what happened in the Perron Manor - it is more suitable to read it after going through the 9 books of the series, however it can also be read before the first book, understanding some mysteries that will follow. To me the former was more suitable.

Read this introduction in 2 evenings-probably in 2 1/2 hours. I've already read the first 2 books of the Haunted series. I've always been interested in paranormal activities. It piqued when I sensed deaths coming soon (& working in healthcare it proved to be a positive asset). Then when entities attached to me & followed. Orbs are a real deal for the dead, have seen them, sensed the spirits, and gotten pictures. A previous friend of mine was a psychic & could pick up when an event occurred to me. So, yes, the series has attracted me. Where there's good all around us, there is also evil. I can't say this book scared me because I've experienced even more, just different. Fiction is to be incredible, but entities sometimes come outside of fiction from a purgatory stage and are suffering till this stage ends.

This is the prequel for Haunted: Perron Manor. The story where Chloe and her sister Sarah inherited the mansion, and learn of it's horrors. In that book you are introduced to a character, David Ritter, who is a paranormal investigator who did a investigation of Perron Manor, with his team. David told Sarah he wrote a book when begging to be allowed to do another investigation of the house. Sarah declined, but read the book.
This is actually that book, written by David Ritter, telling the history and the thorough investigation his team did at Perron Manor.
Written in first person POV David introduces you to a lot of history about the manor, who built it, who died there, and all the horrible events associated to this property.
Great set up to the series. There is so many mysteries to be solved in these books.

I really thought this was a real location. Every time I googled, it brought me to this book or to the Perron family from Harrisville, RI (IYKYK) LOL. I enjoyed this book. The history of the house and "previous" occupants was so descriptive which is why I thought this place was real and made me want to book a ticket to go visit; I'm a sucker for old abandoned places.

As much as I loved the description of the houses and the horrors of what happened there, present day would have worked better as a "documentary" type film/series; think Hell House LLC. Reading wasn't terrible, I just found myself skimming the words.

I hope the author decides to make these into a series with one of the multiple streaming services because I think this would be a very, very good series!

This book had a lot of potential, the beginning and development were very well done. It was able to keep the tension until the ghosts started to appear.
I loved the relationship between the sisters. The distancing because there seemed to be some influence from the house was well done.
The baby saying man in the middle of the night was very creepy and helped to build the uncertainty.
The contractor quits the job the first day, in fact, leaves running and nobody thinks of making sure he tells them why?
The book has a sequel but I’m not interested in keep going. Could have been so great with more subtle hauntings.

This took me a while to get through even though it’s a quick read. The first half I enjoyed learning about the history of the house and how the spirits & demons became familiar with the Perron Manor. I was expecting more of a big event that would occur in the manor when the team does their investigation since David kept talking about it, but was a little disappointed about what actually happened.

All in all, really enjoyed this story. You don’t have to read it before starting the series, but it would make it more enjoyable for sure.

Very good prequel book that covers the history of Perron Manor and the hauntings and weird occurrences that have gone on there throughout the years! I would recommend that this book is read before reading the actual series as it does go into and provide context for some events in book one! I am a huge fan of the Haunted series so far!!
