I’m so excited this is turning more into a cohesive storyline!! I love the idea of the short chapters about the past but I am really loving how they’re all linking up to the present!

I’m so happy every time I see little Ai, she’s so much like Yuki and I just die bc she’s so cute!!

Also Hanabusa and Yori I love themmmmm 😭😭

I think if there were any reason to at least enter the realm of Vampire Knight again, this spin-off/one-shot side stories would be it. I feel like they make the characters more likable and flesh them out a bit.

Tant pis. Malgré tout, les dessins restent très jolis.

While Kaname is still in the future getting to know his two children(?) and the past he doesn't entirely remember(?), we go back into the past to see the events that happen during Sayori's lifetime. As Yuuki and Zero are navigating the new world order where vampires are working alongside humans, and Hanabusa is still exploring Kaname's research, the political landscape of is still unstable. Yuuki, being the leader of the vampires, is in an exalted position, there are many who don't approve of her relationship with Zero, or having him as an equal to her. This means that there are attempts on his life, as well as other people close to Yuuki. Meanwhile, Zero is facing grumbling from his own association as vampire hunters, and they don't necessarily have a problem with him being a vampire or her being his girlfriend, but they do have a problem with their leader being a consort to the leader of vampires.

While Yuuki's and Zero's romantic relationship is still in stasis, much like Kaname in his ice cube (ba-dum-tsss), there are other relationship developments. Hanabusa and Sayori move forward with theirs, and while the different species thing remains a thorn even after marriage, they are still able to be happy in their family. Ai's developing as a little princess, coming into her vampire side, and her feelings for Zero also deepen, which she confesses to. Her feelings about her mother's relationship with Zero change from when she was small and rooting for them, to hoping for Kaname's waking up, to realizing how deep the bond between the three of them goes. Yuuki's feelings over the matter, over her still not being over Kaname and not ready to pursue a love with Zero all over again, take their time.

As a whole, this manga felt like two polarized feelings of humor and darkness, which didn't always blend well together. As for the plot, there's not much, but there is enough to point towards a direction for this series now.

I don't think fans of the series will mind that these short stories are more vignettes than tale; there's enough in here to see how the characters have grown and how their lives went after the ending of the manga series. Each story flows into the next seamlessly and we get a picture of several people and how they are doing through time.

- The Warmth of the Princess of My Memories. While Kaname gets to know Yuki's children in the future, we are brought back to a time when Ai was writing memories in a book with Zero when she was a child. Yuki has to deal with vampires trying to assassinate Zero as an unfit consort while Zero also has the suspicions and doubts of the vampire hunters. Yuki is still unable to move on to fully commit to zero at that time. Yori is determined to remain a human despite her relationship with Hanabusa.

- Stars That Shine In Darkness: When vampires attempt to attack Yori in order to protest Yuki and Zero's relationship, she is saved by Hanabusa. A sweet romantic moment ensues between the two.

- The Box In The Depth Of One's Soul That Must Not Be Opened. Ai is young and attending her first soiree. But it doesn't go as planned and she runs into Zero's arms in tears. She chides herself for wishing her mother would reawaken Kaname so she could have Zero to herself. But the incident is the catalyst to learning the truth about Kaname, Yuki, and Zero's relationship.

- Ai and her first love. When Ai tells her feelings to Zero in a special moment, he has a very expected answer to her. But Ai learned about love then and was able to move on.

- You are my North Star. Ai is going through her transformation and doesn't want to hurt other people from her thirst for blood. Yori worries that her determination to stay human is a detriment to Hanabusa. And Yuki and Zero finally find the opportunity to move forward.

At the end of the book there is a nice description of why Hino named the characters as she did. In all, a very well written book that flows smoothly through time, with each story ending on a thematic note that leads to the next tale. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

I have questions. But first I need to get this off my chest.

I don't like Yuki. Maybe it's because I don't remember how VK ended so I'm lost. But I don't care for her being childlike, when she gets like that it rubs me the wrong way. She was a competent female character now she's tripping and acting like a doof. Maybe it's her true personality. There was more of it in the 1st volume.
I CANNOT STAND AI. I don't find her interesting or endearing. What was the point of her crush on Zero? He's basically her Dad. Why have her crushing on him to the point of asking to be his wife on day.

Okay that aside. Here's my questions.
- What is the point of this series?
- Was it written to appease the Yuki/Zero shippers? Since Yuki basically ends up with Kaname at the end of VK.
- Am I not enjoying this series because the events have happened in the past. And we are getting them as they are being told to Kaname?
- Do I feel lost because everyone is a fucking vampire so no one is aging? They all maybe look 2-3 years older than they did in VK. So it's kinda hard to tell what is the current timeline and what is the past.

Maybe if I read the author notes I'd have answers for my questions. Oh well 🤷🏾‍♀️.

I feel like there's more. But it's late and I wanna sleep.

My poor heart! This series spans the growth of a relationship between Zero and Yuki. The only thing that bothers me is that the time between the original Vampire Knight series and Vampire Knight: Memories is supposed to be 1,000 years and that seems like quite a lot of time. A century or two would be pretty believable, but it doesn't look like technology has advanced that much in 1,000 years from the original series.

That aside, this was an emotional volume to read. Hanabusa and Sayori's moments together were my favorite to read. It was absolutely heartbreaking and bittersweet, but such is what happens when an immortal and a mortal fall in love.

I feel like the two daughters are a great representation of Yuki's relationship with each father. Ren's name means romantic love, which is what we get to see between Yuki and Zero develop. Ai's name means an unconditional, unending love, much like what we see as Yuki still holds a place in her heart for Kaname and their short time together even after he's been encased in ice. I do look forward to reading the rest of the series and the slow burn romance that occurs between Zero and Yuki as Yuki finally moves on from her grief of losing Kaname.

Vampire Knight Memories takes place after the conclusion of Vampire Knight. It’s 1000 years in the future, and Ai is reminiscing on her mother’s (Yuki) life.

Although I’ve enjoyed reading what happened to Yuki, Zero, and the other characters, I’m torn by the bittersweet tone.

If you’re a fan of the series, you’ll want to know what happened. Each vignette gives you a glimpse into the future. It’s a must read for fans.

Like i said in my other review, I'm not a ZeKi shipper. I'm just reading these because i want more of a story from Yuuki's kids and the glimpses of Juuri and Kaien's meetings are really cute. This manga was fan service to begin with, everyone knows it. With that being said, it's cute, i like the storyline and i like the other characters.

I am totally psyched that Matsuri Hino finally continued the vampire knight series and added so many bright new characters. I need to find a place where I can get volume 01 of the series so I can read the series in order. the one thing I'm not a big fan of is yuki using her heart to turn Kaname human.

Ufff, quiero llorar.

This volume had stories of both the 1000 year interim untold in the original series as well as glimpses of Kaname's life after he awakens. I especially enjoyed Yori's story in this volume as well as the continued struggle between Zero and Yuki.

This is a super emotional volume and I loved every bit of it.
My only complaint is there are some major time skips in this. However, it does make sense since the series is supposed to span over 1000 years.

I can’t believe that the main series led to this… This series is beautiful so far. I love Zero and Yuki’s dynamic. And Ai is so adorably funny! Yuki and Zero deserve to be happy while Kaname is asleep… especially since when he wakes up, they’ll both be gone….

The relationship between Hanabusa and Sayori is cute. Love them. 🥰 I would give the book 5 stars for that reason.
Unfortunately my biggest ick is Ai (Yuki and Kaname's daughter) being in love with Zero (HER STEPDAD!) 🤢 I should have known there would be incest vibe coming up at some point.

I liked this one a bit better than the first volume; just felt a bit more cohesive with the storylines this time. Also loving the stories with Aido and Sayori and Yuki and Zero navigating politics, love, and mortality.
