Traumatized by the deaths of his family and the destruction of his planet, Wingman lands on Earth in search of a haven and the solitude to nurse his emotional wounds. When a chance decision foils a kidnapping, he’s drawn into the life of a young widow and her daughter. He’s shocked to discover the human woman is his genmate, the one he’s genetically bonded to.
To escape a stalker, Delia and her imaginative, impressionable daughter flee to a small town where nobody can find them. She’s concerned, but not overly so, when her daughter says she’s invited an angel to her birthday party.
Until the winged alien actually shows up. After a rocky start, Delia begins to see Wingman for what he really is—one of the kindest, most protective, sexiest men she’s ever met.
But just as passion deepens their bond, dangers resurface to threaten Delia and her child. Will Wingman be able to confront the demons of his past to make the sacrifice necessary to protect them?
USA Today bestselling author Cara Bristol writes science fiction romance about tough alien and cyborg heroes who fall hard for sassy heroines.
Cara is a homebody who married a wanderer. When she’s not writing or being distracted by squirrels cavorting outside her office window, she enjoys reading and traveling the world with her husband. Topping her bucket list is visiting all seven continents and petting a squirrel.
Wingman is book two in the series Alien Castaways by Cara Bristol. I loved the first book, Chameleon so have been looking forward to Wingman’s chance to find his own mate.
Wingman lost so much when his planet was attacked. Now, he and his shipmates have found refuge on earth. They’ve been given new identities and are living in the small quiet community of Argent, Idaho. Wingman is an Avian. But when he came across little six year old Izzy Mason when she was in trouble, she thought he was an angel.
“He resembled a winged pagan god, muscular and raw, but oh so beautiful.”
Delia Mason moved to Argent with her daughter to escape a stalker. She thought small town life would be safer. She soon discovers, though, that there are bad people everywhere. When she meets her daughter’s rescuer, she feels something she hasn’t felt in years, attraction.
“Together they were stronger than they were apart. Together they were more.”
Wingman never thought he’d find his forever genmate on earth, that she would be a human. And Delia never allowed herself to hope that she could find forever love again in her life. When their trust in each other and bravery are put to the test, these two can do anything when the most important thing in their lives is threatened.
This was a sexy, sweet, angst free book that I enjoyed. I’m loving these castaways. The third book in the series will be Psy’s story. I can’t wait to see him find his own happy ever after.
Following the complete destruction of their home planet, a group Topian males have escaped across the galaxy and been forced to land on Earth to make repairs to their ship. This is Book 2 of the Alien Castaways series and it features Wynn, or Wingman to his friends. When I started reading this book, I almost immediately started crushing on Wynn. Looks like an angel and he is quite the protector. He encounters 6 year old Izzy as she is almost abducted by a stranger driving an Ice cream truck. After scaring the driver away, he is upset that Izzy's parents would allow her out alone. He plans to let them know just how reckless they are. But after discovering that Izzy has a penchant for getting into trouble and that her Mom, Delia, is a working widowed mom, he starts to better understand the situation. As he gets to know Delia better, he realizes that she is his genmate and he will do anything to keep her and her daughter safe. Delia has escaped a bad situation back home and relocated to small town in Idaho, hoping she and Izzy will find a safe home. Can Wingman keep them safe even when he has his own baggage that threatens to keep them apart? The characters in this steamy romance are so wonderful, as is the plot. Cara Bristol does an amazing job of pulling you into their world in this incredibly entertaining book. Loved it!
The 'Topian refugees are back and still acclimatising to Earth.
Wynn AKA Wingman is still a bit out of whack with his new Earthling neighbours. But when he sees a little girl almost abducted in front of him, he swoops in and saves her and finds himself invited to her birthday party! But when he arrives and meets Izzie's mother...well feathers fly!
Delia thought "Angel" was just a new imaginary friend her daughter had created. She did not expect a very full-grown, beautiful, sexy male! She understandably freaks out and Wynn runs off. When Izzie finally explains how she met her "Angel" Delia is mortified that she ran off her daughter's saviour. But fate steps in and gives her another chance to thank Wynn.
What evolves is a weirdly quickly evolving but slow burn romance. I know that doesn't make sense but it feels like our leads take the time to get to know each other, even though it actually takes over a short period of time.
Delia and Wynn are just so cute together. She, the lonely young widow with secrets of her own, Wynn, the psychologically scarred refugee with nightmares and PTSD. Izzie is just a little tornado of mischief. Her pony pleadings are so cute!
A great mix of peril, romance, family building with a dash of sleazy ice cream man, and other possible dangers for our leads to face.
The author has unique way of introducing the main characters, initially causing distress and disbelief. As you get to know them, you can the similarities: both have suffered a great loss and intense fear of being found. The attraction to each other is there, but the trust isn’t, that will have to be earned. There’s also a lot of emotional issues to be dealt with before things can progress and author’s account of this makes you see it so easily.
Delia and her daughter are not looking for a man to come into their lives but that is just what happens. There is danger and tension as Wingman first rescues Delia's daughter and then becomes important in their lives. Once again one of the alien castaways meets and claims their mate. Just the right amount of danger, romance and tension.
I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.
The story is a spin-off of Ms. Cara Bristol’s Intergalactic Dating Agency (IDA) series, with a fun new twist. The mention of IDA will play only a minor role in the story, but not be directly involved. The story will be about the crew that escaped the destruction of a planet aboard a ship called Castaway, and each of the survivors is unique in their DNA characteristics. This tale will be of Wingman and Delia, along with her daughter, Izzy.
The Castaway's crew has received approval and protection via IDA and are slowly working to integrate into acceptance in Argent, Idaho. While out, Wingman will watch a little girl trying to buy ice cream and then witness the driver attempt to abduct her. He will fly to her rescue and save her, and she is so in awe of her angel that she asks him to come to her birthday party.
“You’re an angel!” Her eyes were wide. “My guardian angel. You saved me!”
Izzy will inform her mom that she has invited an angel to her birthday party, but her mother, Delia, believes this to be another imaginary friend with her vivid imagination.
“He has feathers, but they’re sharp. And he can fly fast. He wears a cape, too. He’s like Super Angel!”
The plot will have widow, Delia, and her daughter, Izzy, relocating from Pittsburgh to Argent, Idaho, to escape a stalker. It’s a small town, and she is grateful that an older lady is willing to watch Izzy while Delia works at a local tavern. What a shock when Wingman comes to Izzy’s birthday party---scaring Delia. But learning of the near kidnapping of Izzy makes her feel bad for her behavior after learning Wingman saved her. Meeting up with him and others at a festival gives them a better chance to get to know each other.
“He’s not an angel, but he does have wings,” the seer called out.
The story has an instant connection between Wingman and Delia, and that includes her daughter, Izzy. The story has the good, the bad, and the evil of people. Delia learns that Wynn—his Earth name, is there for her and her daughter---no matter what. Will his PTSD from what happened on his home planet get in their way? Are Delia and Izzy able to give him a chance for a new future—and has he found his genmate? The story will have life and death danger, along with humor, angst, and romance. I laughed and cried happy tears with this tale.
“An angel who’d arrived in a spaceship. My knight with shining wings.”
“Josh had given her life; Wingman had given her back. There were no words to describe the depth of her gratitude. Perfect in our imperfections.”
“Wingman brought baggage. A great trauma. Loss. She lugged baggage, too. Josh’s death. Responsibility. But together, they lightened the other’s burden. Together they were stronger than they were apart. Together they were more.”
A lonely alien with wings rescued a sweet little girl and discovers that healing his losses might not be as impossible as he thinks. I have a soft spot for the aliens who lost everything back on their world and found refuge on earth. It was with anticipation that I picked up Wingman's story.
Wingman is the second of the Alien Castaways series. It reads standalone, but I definitely got more out of it by starting with Chameleon where the characters and their situation were introduced.
Wingman, with his new legal ID status is exploring the little Idaho town out of curiosity and a bit of sadness for his own destroyed village when he spots a little human girl in danger. His rescue leads to the little girl seeing his wings and thinking he's an angel. She invites him to her birthday party.
Widowed Delia thought her daughter was making it up until a huge winged man is sitting at her daughter's birthday table. At first, mistrust reigns because she fled from Philadelphia from a stalker and now she finds the strangest of strangers in her home. But another encounter and an understanding of his heroic rescue to her child leads to a chance to act on their flaring attraction.
Wingman was one of the sweetest, heart-warming sci-fi romances I've read in a while. It was adorable seeing Wingman with Delia and Izzy. His grief was lightened by meeting them and being part of their lives. But, this was also the usual sensual romance, moments of action, and the underlying need for Wingman to heal and Delia trying love again.
The camaraderie of the alien group of friends that is slowly growing into families on earth is a great additional element that I love seeing developed as the series progresses.
In summary, this quick and easy read was sometimes adorable, exciting, hot, and just the thing. Those who enjoy light sci-fi romance should try out the series.
My thanks to the author for providing this book to read in exchange for an honest review.
Alien Wingman is assimilating into society and is out for a walk when he foils an abduction. Izzy Mason thinks Wingman's an angel and invites him to her 6th birthday party, which is where he meets Izzy's mother Delia. Wingman is shocked when he realises the beautiful Delia is his mate. But with danger lurking around the corner, will Wingman's dream of being a family with Delia and Izzy be ripped away?
Wingman is a sweet, suspenseful and steamy story. I can't wait to read Psy, Book 3 of the Intergalactic Dating Agency series.
Cara Bristol's latest 'aliens need brides' series features a disparate group of aliens fleeing from the destruction of the their planet by an evil empire. Although the action/suspense/romance has all the elements of love overcoming adversity that make the author's books so much fun, the grim back story for the heroes gives these books a darker edge.
Nothing says "hero" more than saving the little girl from being kidnapped. But heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Wingman's (Winn) wings are difficult to hide, especially when he feel threatened. Exposure could be disastrous, but when the one he comes to care for is in trouble, he will stop at nothing, even putting his own life in danger, to rescue her.
After Chameleon, I've been waiting for Wingman. It's such an adorable story. Delia is a single mother, whose baby girl Izzy is adorable. Wingman protects her from a potential kidnapping and realises that her mother is his genmate. It's interesting to see how the castaways are dealing with earth and it's alien culture. I can't wait to read Psy!
I could not wait for this story and it did not disappoint. Wynn is an alien with wings, Delia is a woman on the run and Izzy is her daughter. I was hooked from the first page and could not put this story down. The humor that runs through it is phenomenal. Wynn’s struggles with human culture, idioms, and women is hysterical. I really liked the creativity of this story. Can’t wait for Psy’s story.
I really loved this book. Wingman is probably the most damaged of the castaways, plagued by bad dreams and flashbacks from when his planet was destroyed. When he meets Delia and her daughter Izzy he feels that she’s his mate, but he’s afraid he’ll hurt her. But he’ll have to overcome his fears to protect what he loves. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to everyone. I can’t wait for the next one!
A group of various Aliens all looking for a new life and love on Earth Wingman had been on earth for a few months with the group of castaways that like himself had been saved from extinction from a group of aliens eradicating any breed that they believed fell short of their requirements, a brutal and merciless slaying of innocents unable to retaliate or protect those they loved. Delia and her tenacious daughter Izzy had moved out of necessity after their personal safety had been threatened so they had fled to a small town that she had visited with her now dead husband who had unfortunately died when Izzy had been a baby, They were happy and had each other however, working the late shift as a cocktail waitress was not easy and noy that Izzy was getting older she was missing not having friends and also was soon to celebrate her birthday and Delia was trying to make it as special and memorable as possible. Wingman had seen the little girl as she had suddenly been grabbed by the man in the van and his protective instincts had cut in and he had attacked her assailant and returned the small child to the safety of her home, imagine his surprise when she had called him Angel and invited him to her birthday party. Delia had been shocked to realise just how close she had come to losing her little girl and after she had got to know Wynn and his friends, she realised that they had a special connection, the townsfolk had started to make the aliens welcome even those that were not able to mask their differences like wynn with his wings. Wynn realises that in fact Delia is his Gen Mate, a gift that each of his friends are searching for as the start a new life on earth. He is willing to wait as long as it takes for Delia feel as much in love with him but understands that humans are slightly different. Then when there is a kidnapping and both Delia and Wingman’s world come to a shalt they cannot believe the way every one came together to help in any way possible, it was truly beyond consideration and they would never forget the kindness and love they had felt at that moment in time….. This is a wonderful story that I promise you will not be able to put down until you reach the last page. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Got a sneak peek into Wingman at the end of Chameleon. Delia and her daughter, Izzy, live in a quiet neighborhood. When a guy tries to lore Izzy into his Ice Cream truck, Wingman stops him. He doesn’t know what to make of the little girl that is so trusting. She even invites him to her Birthday Party. Delia is a hard working mom and just wants to give her little girl the best. She doesn’t think too much about Izzy telling her that her “Angel” will be coming. But when she see him, she doesn’t know if he is real or not. I love that the alien’s from the Castaway are finding mates on Earth. Wynn seemed to be so cynical in the first book but he softened a great deal. He has a heart of good and the love and care he shows for Izzy is so sweet. Delia and Wynn hit it off after that first meet. Who wouldn’t want an “angel” to save you? I have my concerns about her neighbor. And Wynn having PTSD was tough. Thank goodness Psy was able to help. I am looking forward to reading Psy’s story next.
I really enjoyed reading this book, it’s well written, has no cliffhangers, and it is a fated mates story with a happy ever after ending. The plot is brilliant and there are a couple of steamy scenes between delia and wingman. Both of them have lost people in their lives. Making a fresh start on earth with the rest of the castaways, Wynn aka wingman is having a walk around the neighbourhood when he witnesses and stops a little girl being abducted. After he saves her, Izzy invites him to her birthday party, however Izzy told delia that wingman is an angel so delia thinks it’s a new imaginary friend. So when he turns up delia is horrified, until she finds out what happened earlier in the week. When they meet again they are both instantly attracted to each other.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Delia faces every mother's worst nightmare when her daughter Izzy is almost kidnapped. But being in the right place at the right time, Winn saves her. He's Izzy's angel and when Winn meets Izzy's mother sparks fly, feathers are in a twist and he realises Delia is meant for him. A wonderful story that was so easy to read and the hours literally flew by while I was reading. Attention grabbing, mesmerizing, riveting, feel-good. Cara Bristol has fast become one of my favorite authors and I'm looking forward to Psy and any further books of her's I can get hold of. Thoroughly recommendable.
A great follow up to Chameleon. Wingman is wandering the streets when he notices a little girl chasing after an icecream van. When the man tries to abduct her, he steps in and helps her and is then invited to her birthday party. This leads to him meeting her mother Delia. What follows is the dance of dating and misunderstanding along with the added wariness around an unknown for Delia. A very good tale with good ebbs and flows for easy reading.
I received an ARC copy of this and am leaving this review freely and without reservations
One of Cara Bristol's best, I loved Wingman. Wingman like all the Castaways had a tough time recovering from the team's of losing every thing in his life. Arriving to Earth unprepared for life here, saving Izzy from a kidnapping the best thing in both of their lives. Delia and Wingman were made for each other, this is a sweet romance. I look forward to reading Psy's story this is an engrossing world that Cara has developed and one I am sure you will enjoy.
this is the second book in this series and it is shaping up to be another great series. Plenty of romance, action and personal hardships for the characters to overcome in it. Wynn and Delia are the main characters and they are well written and likable. Really enjoyed reading it. Look forward to the next
Wynn or Wingman is am alien (along with others from spaceship Castaway crash lands town of Argent) saves a six year old girl, Izzy from a kidnapper.
Delia's Izzy mother is a widow. She is very protective of Izzy and suspicious of Angel (Izzy named for Wynn). So begins a friendship or a chance at a family, providing nothing dangerous happens.
The characters are unique (Wynn can fly), funny, and hopeful they can find a lifetime of love or. genmate. The fast paced plot is a terrifying drama of kidnapping. I like that characters are believable.
I am loving this series so much that each time I end a book, I am immediately wanting the next one! I can't get enough of the Alien Castaways, and so far, each book is even better than the last. Wingman is one of several castaways to be featured in this series, and I would say he is probably the most "human" of the aliens, with his main alien feature being feathery wings that double as weapons. And with that, I will dive into a brief synopsis of the story...
Wingman is still recovering from the horrific loss of his family and future mate when his home was destroyed and he was forced to flee with other survivors. When he happens upon a little girl and realizes she is about to be kidnapped, he rushes in to save her. Soon she is inviting him to her birthday party, and when he arrives, her mother, Delia Mason, is startled to discover that her daughter's "angel" is, in fact, real and standing in her home. Their first meeting doesn't go well, but when they meet up again at the town's Lavender Festival, sparks begin to fly between the two. Soon they are spending more time together, and Wingman is becoming attached to both Delia and her daughter. Although they may not be from the same planet, Wingman is certain Delia is the one person he has been waiting his whole life to meet.
Delia and Wingman were a lovely and engaging couple from start to finish! Delia was in a rough spot, trying to keep herself and her daughter safe from a stalker former boss. She was wary of anyone new, and learning Wingman was an alien definitely threw her for a loop. However, she quickly overcame that when she saw how concerned he was for both her and her daughter, and he clearly was someone who would protect them. As he gained her trust, she also gained his as he battled his own demons. PTSD affects everyone, including aliens apparently, and it was interesting to see how he handled that situation as it began to impact his relationship with Delia.
I'm super excited to read Psy's story, which is the next in the series. The heroine is mute, and Psy can read minds, so this should be a really interesting book. I can't wait!
**I received a free copy from the author and this is my honest review.**
A enjoyable story that I was able to follow since I didn't read the first book in this series. This story is about Wingman (Wynn) who has been living on Earth for a few months. Wingman settled with the group of castaways in a small town of Argent. They were saved from extinction from the Xeno Consortium who are eradicating any breed that they believed fell short of their requirements. Wingman lives with the horror of not saving his planet and suffers with nightmares. During his rare days outside Wynn sees a young girl (Izzy Mason) chasing a ice cream truck and when the ice cream man tries to take her he intervenes. Izzy believes Wynn is her guardian angel and invites him to her birthday party. Delia Mason, single mom, works the night shift as a cocktail waitress at the Whitetail bar. When her daughter says she invited a angel to celebrate her birthday, Delia thinks angel is one of her imaginary friends. Wynn keeping a promise is concern about Izzy and wants to talk to her mother about Izzy. He finds the mother attractive and the meeting doesn't go well. When they meet again at the town's Lavender Festival, their attraction between them grows. Can Wingman who is getting emotional with Delia and Izzy, save the Delia from a stalker that threatens them? Loved the story, the characters in this Alien Romance I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.
The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was good, with no typos that I caught and well constructed sentences. The world building was competent if not especially vivid. The characterization was good, with hero and heroine both being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic. I found it sweet and heartfelt. The plot and pacing were tight and quick, meaning I read this novel in one sitting. There was low angst and very high stakes in this novel, which I tend to prefer in my romance novels. This novel used the Fated Mates trope and the Child in Danger trope. The world building was three stars. The plot and pacing were four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel had a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy sci-fi romances with a sweet small town feel. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases, though I do not think I will be buying myself a keeper copy of this romance.

An excellent addiction to the “Alien Castaways” series & I really enjoyed reading this intriguing, slow-burn Sci-Fi alien romance. The plot is unique, well-paced & full of intriguing situations with good scene descriptions. The characters are strong-willed individuals with good chemistry & have a variety of traits although one of them (Wynn) is inclined to be quite dangerous at times but both of the main characters are realistic portrayed with emotional feelings & expectations. I particularly liked the how the friendship developed between “Wingman aka Wynn” & Delia’s rather precocious daughter (Izzy Mason). There is: various kinds of aliens, friendship, comradery, humans, fated mates/genmates, adventure, action, secrets, mystery, humor, suspense, intrigue, twists & turns, drama, danger, threats, villainous villains, abduction, devastating memories, unlikely friendships, attractions, doubts, discovery, misunderstandings, explanations, steamy scenes, contentment, love & a well-deserved satisfying conclusion. I look forward to future books in this series with great anticipation & would recommend this book.
What a relief that Wingman found his much deserved HEA. In the last story I practically hated the guy, but let's just say he grew on me while he was mentally growing up and dealing with his issues. And I loved Delia too, but Izzy needs to be cloned irl because she was the most adorable little kid ever. There was one point in the book where Delia was chiding herself for being frustrated that she couldn't find a babysitter because compared to Wingman's trauma that was obviously nothing, however, it felt like a weird thing for her to say since she had already lost her wonderful husband and had to move across the country to escape a stalker, so that felt a little inconsistent. Aside from that, though, this was a great story and happily lacking any wishy washy angst. Courage, trauma, PTSD, mental health, pride, loneliness, destiny, friendship, childhood innocence, cultural differences, new beginnings, community, trust, hope, and love were some of the undercurrents in this yummy tale.
I received a free copy of Wingman, but that did not affect my review.
When your six-year-old says she invited an Angel to her birthday party, you don’t actually expect a man with wings to show up, especially when said child has two imaginary friends, but Delia should know, with a daughter like hers, you’ve got to pay attention to the details.
Wingman is positively charming, from the moment he first interacts with six-year-old Izzy, he’s a heart-melter, a man who respects others, and their boundaries, yet will not sit idly by while an innocent is harmed.
This done in one quick read was loads of fun, the sense of humor is captivating, the plot is a page turner, with hints and clues gently laid out as the author plays fair leading up to the ultimate events of the story, in a well crafted, dang it, whodunnit. (Yeah, I thought so, but only because the author carefully crafted the story to help keep me on track.)
I haven’t read the previous story, and as such, feel this is a solid stand alone story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Very enjoyable story about a single mother and a traumatized alien with PTSD. The story was well written and the characters were well developed.
Delia Mason and her six year old daughter Izzy moved to a small town to escape her stalking ex-boss. Wingman/Wynn fled to Earth with a group of castaways when his family and planet were destroyed. He rescues Izzy from being kidnapped and she invites him to her birthday party. Delia freaks out when she sees him sitting in her house because she thought he was one of her daughter's imaginary friends. Once Izzy explains about the kidnap attempt Delia apologizes and they spend the day with Wynn at the lavender festival. Their relationship progresses to a HEA despite his flashbacks and nightmares and another kidnapping.

The “Alien Castaways” Series continues with this a “wing and a prayer” second installment. I have to admit, I didn’t like Wingman very much in Book 1. He was a bit of a jerk! Boy oh boy did he make up for that in this novel. TOTALLY not a jerk AT ALL. A very damaged individual with SERIOUS mistrust for another alien group….Yes. An Avian with a heart of gold…..YES! I usually am not a fan of novels involving the H or h being a single parent. In this instance, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Joining Wingman, Delia, and Izzy on their journey to an HEA was fantastic. Great twist and turns. Well wrapped up plot lines. I’m looking forward to continuing this Series and learning more about the “Alien Castaways”. I received and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
