Rose Greer sacrificed a hell-forged weapon, and her own blood, to bring Beck back from hell – a changed Beck, one winged, and horned, and tailed. Her captain wants Beck to step up, and help their war effort; which he does, in a terrifying way that none of them expected.
In the second book of the Hell Theory series, revisit the five years between Beck’s “death” and resurrection, when Rose joined the Rift Walkers and became hopelessly entangled with her sergeant, Lance du Lac: mentor, lover, and ally in her quest to bring Beck back. And in the present day, walk the streets Rose once hunted with Beck, that they will hunt again, in the midst of a war between heaven and hell.
“Night in a Waste Land” is the second in a new supernatural/horror erotica series based loosely on the legends of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, set in the not-too-distant future. Featuring angels, demons, mythology, monsters, plenty of steam, and an eventual OT3. Dark, weird, and sexy, Hell Theory isn’t for the faint of heart.
And we have another cliffie! Even more dramatic than the first one, too. It’s a good thing this series is finished.
I like this new and improved Beck, but he’s such an asshole to Lance (who’s such a sweetheart, and too good for Rose and Beck both). Not that I blame him, but still… I’m really curious how Gilley will resolve that conflict. 🤔
And Rose… her character has gained some depth here, finally 🙏, but she still rubs me the wrong way, a little.
I mean, it’s a Lauren Gilley book, and it’s dystopian with Anne Rice + King Arthur vibes. The 5 star rating is self-explanatory. 🤷🏻♀️ I was an idiot for pausing this trilogy months ago, but I’m really glad that I’m back.
I've been a Lauren fan since Ava stepped out of that Ford in a yellow skirt and wedges. She's a writer who can take you along in multiple genres and make you care deeply about her characters. But this...This is cool.
“It’s a love story. Love doesn’t require morality, does it?”
Awasome second part of the story. I savored every drop. It’s dark and fun. Amazing Lauren Gilley. I love the way she writes, gracefully and lithely, It’s highly addictive.
Loved the 2nd book in this series. I enjoyed catching up with Rosie, Lance, and Beck. This series is a great spin on apocalyptic fantasy. Somehow this series merges a little of King Arthur legend with an angel/demon/human war and it works. Lauren is one of the few authors who can write a very capable heroine who can be in a relationship and still be a kickass. Her books feature relationships that are true partnerships. I don't know what Book 3 holds but I'm here for it.
Overall Rating :: 5 stars Series :: Book two of the Hell Theory series. POV :: Alternating. HEA ::

Really? You introduce me to Beck and Rosie as a couple, and then throw in Lance to the mix? And he's completely and utterly endearing and kind and... Captain America-y. Come on. Gah! I need details. I need MORE. I NEED THE NEXT BOOOOOOOOK.
This series is great. Unique and the characters are non-conventional. The story alternated between the present (after Beck was released from hell) and the five-year interim period when Rose and Beck were separated. The story was bittersweet. Rose truly idolized Beck and the pull between them was intense. In spite of Beck’s physical transformation, Rose still loved him unconditionally. The story was bittersweet because Rose broke Lance’s heart when he was so caring and protective of her. I cannot wait for book 3.
2.8 again🤨 I understand better, but I really don't like the girl hahaha.... she feels she is disconnected from her life and I believe her cause I felt it too. so good writing. the story make more sense now.
Great read. Answered some questions from the first book and left you with some new ones. Felt for Rose and everything she was going through. Waiting for the next book.
