The Heartstone Saga #5

Light of the Aegis

Rate this book
Light of the Aegis is the fifth book in a series that tells the tale of Nameless and his bond-mates as they make a new life for themselves in the city of Garland, but they can’t forget what brought them there: the final showdown is coming and once it arrives things will never be the same.
WARNING: This is a work of erotic fantasy, there is nudity, some swearing, a fair bit of violence, and plenty of naughty sex between men (and women) and monster girl/girls. If that isn’t your cup of tea please give this book a pass!
Otherwise please enjoy!

Evidently not quite the end, but it certainly closes off this arc. Not too much I can say without spoilers, but the key things follow.

It's erotic fiction, I get that. Balance between shenanigans and actual story is better than some earlier books, but I still find an overall reasonably compelling story derails occasionally due to an over-long (imo) sex odyssey. A matter of taste of course, but it's the length of some of them that I find excessive; shorter ones actually work for the plot and pacing.

Anyway, the boilerplate "if you liked the previous books you'll like this" applies here.

There are flavors that are fine on their own, but don't go well together. Like orange juice and toothpaste. This book is like that. Either have sex or have brutality, together they sour each other.
There are wrong ways to raise tension in a book, making it meaner and giving the MC an emotional break down are the wrong way.
Lastly, where is any of this going? This book has no direction. It's just a bunch of stuff that's happening, Wait, no. Not a bunch -There is very little happening. But what is happening is either dull or horrible.
I'm out.

A good end to the series. I was afraid that this wasn't really the last book for some reason. My only real complaint is Jonathan. I understand everyone else's motivation/perspective, even Evadne but I just can not understand his. He is an empath. He feels everything that someone else feels and yet he tortured the monster girls with his visions? The only way that would work is if he was a sociopath who got off on those feelings for some perverse reason. The was emotion, loss, courage, and honor in this story. The sex wasn't as intimate as it had been in the previous books but it was still pretty good. Overall a pretty decent monster girl series.

All things come to an end

The end of the arc has come as we head into the final confrontation. There’s a lot of action within these pages but a lot less of the personal connections that I loved about the first 2 books, all culminating in an abrupt bittersweetness that was really not my jam. All in all an interesting journey, but one far different from where it started.

When I compare the story with the first 3 books it feels.....lacking. we get plenty of action, in both senses of the word, but the tone of the books changed dramatically. Can't go into too much detail without major spoilers but it goes from a more character based and endearing story of hardship, and making the most of what you have story to edge and angst. Spoiler below.

It is bittersweet the way the story ends. We have characters that gave their all to just be the best they can for the ones they love, and in return the one thing that brought them all together is gone, it just feels slightly like a cop out. To stop the tenebrae the main character almost has to become one? No anger or hatred, but to be blind in not only his eyes but also to how his girls feel about him? The one thing that made it possible for all of them to be together? Very bittersweet.

What a finally and maybe more?

My gosh ived been following this series since book 3, crushing the first 2 books and waiting at the end of my seats for books 3 and onwards. Cant say it enough, this series is Amazing from the characters to the story, history and world this series hits all the right toons to make an excellent story. That being said book five is no exception, it bring everything together for an epic, sad and satisfying conclusion but here's hope for more. Thers so much to say but I'll leave it at this. If by the premise of the story intrigues you, this book is a must read and I hope you will love it as much as I do. Easy 5/5

I really liked this series for what it was, but there were times when I couldn't get into the erotica. That's just a personal critique though, I thought the ending and the story build up was pretty decent. There were characters that definitely got the short end of the stick from my point of view, but I was satisfied with how things turned out given what had come before it. It was worth reading all 5 books for sure I would recommend this for the story alone but I guess at some point I was less into the sexy time than I was wanting the story to proceed.

..amazing

This series is amazing and is one of the best within this genre it’s more mature and takes a different approach to it’s themes and genre but manages to entertain and create an amazing story. Personally the ending was a mix for me and I’m still conflicted but I hope this is continued on to see how the author puts a final end the story.

It's been an enjoyable read

The nostalgia! From book one to now. It's been an enjoyable and kinky time. From a cute and erotic harem story to an epic journey of fighting against the literal darkness. This series has set itself up as one of my all time favorites. Recommended to everyone with a liking for action, fantasy and some kinky scenes. I loved it.

A interesting end to the story arc.

The author continues to be very consistent in this series as the book moves along good pace. The ending of the book was good and left so much to be explored in the future.

Wonderfully bittersweet.

Good ending to the first series. While bittersweet it was very realistic due to the challenges of the story. I can’t wait to see more from This writer.

Fantastic. Simply Fantastic. A few minor typos and the such but they just show how much work went into making this fantastic book. I look greatly forward for wherever it goes from here and more quality word goods in the future.
