Ever since Dylan Stone beat Veronica Chasen out of a prime position at the Cleveland Courier, they’ve been bitter rivals, engaging in a very public war of words in their competing newspaper columns. They routinely challenge each other to go bungee jumping, white water rafting, or into tattoo parlors to see who will wimp out first. But Veronica’s latest taunt may be Dylan’s toughest assignment yet: She dares him to learn to knit.
Dylan is notgoing to let something his grandmother can do scare him off. He’s man enough to make a scarf—and attend Veronica’s weekly knitting circle. But when the infuriatingly handsome Dylan shows up at the craft shop and charms all the ladies, Veronica starts to get all knotted up in something that feels a lot like love...
USA Today bestselling author Heidi Betts is the daughter of an Arabian sheik and a Las Vegas showgirl, as well as the heiress to the Chocolate is Better Than Sex Candy Company fortune. Because of this, she eats chocolate in all its many delicious forms for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and in-between snacks . . . without ever gaining an ounce on her perfect five-foot-nine, size zero figure.
Each and every one of her breathtaking, award-winning novels has been adapted to film and gone on to become a phenomenal box office smash, featuring such mega-stars as Hugh Jackman and Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts, and Harrison Ford and Charlize Theron.
Heidi readily admits that she is only able to write such passionate love stories because of her real-life happily-ever-after romance with superstar actor Dwayne Johnson, who makes every day a fairy tale. When she’s not writing or making hot, toe-curling love with her “Rock” of a husband, Heidi can often be found riding naked on horseback (a la Lady Godiva) along the beaches of Malibu or hobnobbing with the rich and famous on Martha’s Vineyard.

Calling all knitters. There’s a new romance book in town that’s set around a challenge thrown of learning to knit. It’s been many years since I’ve taken up my needles and I must say that knitting was never associated with sex in my mind…until now. Heidi Betts managed to make knitting sexy with her new novel, “Tangled Up In Love”, and that’s really quite a feat.
Veronica and Dylan are two column journalists who have a red-hot rivalry going on. They challenge each other to wild and wacky stunts in their respective columns and each has become rather famous during their battle of the sexes. What neither has been willing to confess is their growing attraction to each other which both solidly deny, even to themselves. Veronica’s latest challenge to Dylan is that he learn to knit and provide a finished product in one month. Dylan has no intention of losing and invades Veronica’s knitting group first, and then has the cojones to request private knitting lessons! It doesn’t take long before these lessons are conducted with a minimum of clothing, and maximum of heat. But will either one be willing to relinquish their shields?
This was a very sexy book. It doesn’t cross the line over into erotica territory, but does get fairly close with its frank descriptions and hot love scenes. I read the first few chapters eagerly, but then my interest waned. Mostly because I didn’t like Veronica or the way she treated Dylan. Now I know that conflict is a well-honored plot device in romance novels, but when the conflict contains elements of ‘mean’ (for lack of a better word), that just turns my interest right off. For someone who usually reads a book straight through, or at most, within 24 hours…this book took me over a week to finish because every time I picked it back up, Veronica made me want to put it right back down. For about 2/3 of the book, Veronica was a harpy and Dylan was a horndog which meant neither was very endearing for me.
Other than that, the book was very fast-paced. All the action takes place in a one-month timeframe and there’s a teeny bit of magical assistance hinted at in the first and last chapters. There is another book in the same setting coming out soon called “Loves Me, Loves Me Knot” which stars two of the secondary characters from “Tangled Up In Love”. I’ll probably pick up the second to see if Heidi Betts makes those two characters more romantic than argumentative.
Tangled up in Love is the first book in Heidi Bett’s “Chicks with Sticks” series. The reason this is about chicks with sticks is because the heroine and her two girlfriends like to knit and even attend a weekly knitting group. This is also the first contemporary for 2009 I have read that I really enjoyed. Heidi really knows how to write just the right amount of humor injected into a romance that was both adorable and steamy at the same time.
I knew I was going to have a ball reading this book with the very first line:
“He wished she didn’t have such a terrific ass.”
The man saying this is Dylan Stone who is Veronica Chasen’s fiercest rival. They write columns for competing newspapers, even though Veronica’s newspaper, the Cleveland Sentinel, is a smaller paper. Ever since Dylan beat her out of a prime columnist position at the Herald, Veronica has challenged Dylan in her weekly column. The dares between them are wild, wacky and a bit embarrassing. Veronica even got tattoo on a part of her body that Dylan would love to see. Dylan may act like he can’t stand Veronica, but whenever they are in the same room he can’t take his eyes off of her. And being the man that he is, he creates various sexual fantasies in his head with Veronica being the star.
Veronica’s blood pressure rises whenever she sees Dylan. They tend to end up in the same places like the Penalty Box, a bar where Dylan and his friends hang out at. One of Veronica’s friends is even engaged to one of Dylan’s. And whenever Dylan sees Veronica, he can’t help but tease her. She needs to come up with a new challenge that Dylan won’t be able to succeed at. Suddenly something comes to her. Veronica loves to knit and when she writes about her knitting accomplishments and states that women are much better knitters then men, Dylan is ready to prove her wrong.
What Veronica doesn’t expect is for Dylan to join her knitting group and ask her for some help. He even offers her one-thousand dollars to teach him. Because Veronica is very frugal with money due to growing up poor, she jumps on it. Soon Dylan is coming over to her apartment, sharing his Chinese food and having great conversations with her. Veronica may still keep her nose in the air when it comes to Dylan, but he can tell things have changed between them. And then one night Veronica gets a bit too tipsy and begins to taunt Dylan and his manhood. One thing leads to another and Dylan bets he can give Veronica more orgasms than she has ever had. She wants a “baker’s dozen” from him. If he can’t deliver, she will take his jeep. Dylan is not one to back down from any challenge and takes Veronica up on the offer. Now these two former adversaries have to figure out what to do next. Dylan wants to work on a relationship with Veronica, while Veronica loves being with Dylan, but feels she has to stay on her toes around him.
Tangled up in Love is one adorable romance. This is a very sexy comedy about two rivals who come to the realization that their taunts and dares were just their own form of foreplay. And when Dylan and Veronica start their knitting lessons, those lessons become very hot and steamy. Talk about heating up the sheets! These two may want to out do the other one, but when it comes to sex, they both give and take equally. Heidi can sure write great love scenes.
Dylan and Veronica are also surrounded by supportive friends who give them both advice about love. There is also Charlotte an older grandmother type friend of Veronica who is a fellow knitter who thinks she has a magical spinning wheel that will help aid in matchmaking with the two lovers.
For a book that has great laughs and a wonderful romance that doesn’t disappoint in any way, I wholeheartedly recommend Tangled up in Love. You will find yourself smiling till the very last page and perhaps picking up kitting yourself. And if there was a Dylan in my local knitting group, you bet I would be there!

Arkadaşınında desteğiyle Dylan'a örgü konusunda kafa tutar.
Kitaptan sevdiğim bir alıntı;
"Teşekkürler, yani teşekkür etmem gerekir herhalde. Umarım sandığım anlama geliyordur. Elimizden geldiğince araştırdık, ama doğruluğundan emin olamıyorum. Kıçımda bir "Çin Malı" yazısıyla geziyor da olabilirim."
This book pissed me off so much. I cannot begin to express the frustration I felt every single time she mentioned a character flopping down on an "overstuffed couch". Not every fricken noun needs a descriptor!!!! Give it a rest!!!!! Also who edited this damn book??? Like tell me why there are whole sentences and PARAGRAPHS copied from chapter to chapter?? HOW DO YOU PLAGIARIZE YOURSELF?????? Also the misogynistic undertones?? Physically nauseating. THAT BEING said, I read it in a singular day and I Will be reading the other 2.
Kördüğüm -Heidi Betts Orjiinal Adı: Tangled Up İn Love
Üç kitaplık bir seri ve Chicks with Sticks Serinin ismi 1.Tangled up in love 2.Loves Me, Loves Me Knot 3.Knock Me for a Loop

I thought this book was a lot of fun... even when they realized that they were attracted to each other they were one uping each other. Steamy love scenes, funny knitting group discussions and a lot of issues that clear up without a lot of mess. I am will be looking for the 2nd in this series for sure!!
Rival columnists Veronica Chasen and Dylan Stone are embroiled in a bitter and very public war in which they challenge each other to crazy feats such as bungee jumping and whitewater rafting. In the latest round, Ronnie finally has Dylan stumped when she dares him to learn to knit. That is until Dylan shows up at Ronnie's knitting circle with a counter-challenge - teaching him to knit. Soon the two have more than yarn wrapped around their fingers . . .
This book is simply adorable.
Ronnie and Dylan have amazing chemistry and their banter is witty and funny. While Ronnie initially comes across as acerbic and prickly, it is impossible not to empathize with her backstory once it is revealed. Dylan is sexy and smart and one cannot help but admire a man who is willing to put his machismo aside and learn to knit.
The secondary characters are a mixed bag, however. While Gage and Julie are very compelling (I've since read and enjoyed their book), Grace and Zach are not as appealing.
Moreover, the inclusion of aunt Charlotte's magical spinning wheel is unnecessary as it adds little to either the plot or characterization.
Overall, a wonderfully light and entertaining read.
Tangled up in Love was surprisingly good. I had a really hard time deciding if i wanted to take a risk and read this book... because I don't know why but theres just something about the enemy-reportor thing that has never quite worked for me. BUT this book ( once i actually started of course) was REALLY GOOD! I really enjoyed the characters and the supporting characters and everyone in between. The story was great, the sex was scorching hot but not erotica, which is kind of cool and refreshing (cuz it didn't have that "thats totally fake" feel to it). I fell totally in love with the girls and their friendship, it was really sweet and i love when the characters of a series are connected and you can catch up with them later on and stuff. I really want to keep reading the series, which I am lol just started book #2 and so far thats also going well. Oh! the humor, yeah its plentiful and actually funny. like the men are sooo funny and the have that manly and macho-man vibe going on which was cool because they didn't seem like super heros or too perfect to be real. The men were kinda sleazy and sport-junky but seem kinda down to earth and they completely make the book seem more grounded. overall its kind of a lovely read which i recommend :)
I'm not really sure why i picked this book out and more astonishing, It's that i finished reading the book. There were so many wrong things going around with it that i can't identify. First of all, the heroine was really annoying and mean. There was this whole thing with the hero where the heroine was really mean to him but he didn't mind because she was so hot and he was always coming back to her even if she was a bitch to him. Blahhhh! The the whole premise of the book trying to make knitting sexy but it fell in the process. I guess this book and author didn't work out for me!
Read this book while waiting in the airport. Not what I had expected at all. I figured it was a book about knitting and would have some romance thrown in as well. Complete opposite. Little bit of knitting and a while lot of love It was fast paced, funny and very entertaining. I don't know however if I'll go on to read the other two books in the series based on the other two women in kitting "club". But In dis enjoy this book and I was thankful for the entertainment in the airport!
I do not understand the high ratings for this book. I did not believe in this story at all. The guy came was very lame and made me think that this author has not been around men very much, if at all. It read like a female voice. Very, very disapointing read. If there was a money back guarentee, I would be first in line.
This was a great Sunday read...very entertaining and I loved the interactions between the main couple...and the extra twist of the knitting in the story. I think that this is a first novel by this author, and I will definitely be watching for her upcoming releases!
Loved the concept (romance about knitting group member) but didn't lvoe the characters. The heroine was such a oain in the self-involved butt I had trouble finishing this one.
This was a bit of a miss for me. It wasn't necessarily a bad book, but I felt like it was too focused on physical attraction and sex. They didn't like each other, yet they kept talking about how hot the other person was. Then it seemed like most of the connection was how great they were in the bedroom. It was about over halfway through the book when the author finally tried to give the characters some depth and personal conflict, but by then I didn't care. Ronnie was also kind of a jerk for the first half of the book, so I didn't really click with the characters or this novel and found myself skimming a lot of it. For people who like a lot of bedroom action, this book might work for you, but I wanted something else.
Yes, I've been trying out a lot of new romance authors now. In fairness, I did enjoy this one. I liked the premise. I laughed at their comebacks. I enjoyed their "wars". I was hoping for a different approach on their ending though. I was hoping that the proposal or something had been through the newspaper.. If that was how it ended, I think this would be perfect. hahaha
fun story of two reporters, with a public rivalry and challenge history...
and a challenge from her to him to learn to knit... and an elderly aunt who pushes them together (she can teach him after all), because she knows where there is smoke there's fire...

It was not good nor well written but I had fun nonetheless. For a “funny, sexy yarn” I wish there was 10x the knitting representation and wish I could live at the Yarn Barn. Alas it was a good time and truly a time capsule of 2009 (s/o Hpnotiq martinis)
Heidi Betts shows you in Tangled Up In Love that even love can overpower a powerful grudge, and that knitting isnt always just plain old knitting.
Usually, I talk about the main characters, the plot, and the things that caught my attention throughout the book. However, I realized that most would rather prefer a brief overview sometimes. Writing a short review this time would certainly help my cramped hand as well. So this is for all of you:
Composed of a very-much flawed group of characters, this book isnt just another perfect story that you can see alot these days. Betts incorporates some real-life qualities into the pretty normal atmosphere she created, bringing up financial problems, self problems, and past problems. Although all this may seem intimidating, with the help of friends and family, Veronica(one of the mains) will survive in the end.
One of the problems Betts ties to Veronica is the problem of poverty. Yes, even if Veronica seems put together when out in public, she struggles with many issues at home. The experience Veronica had to go through when she was little, when her parents barely had enough to even support themselves, follows her into adulthood. Not that Veronica is poor, but that the memory haunts her, controlling her actions- keeping her at bay from ever truly relaxing.
I love how Betts brings poverty into the picture, creating an even more realistic read for any reader. What I'm really delighted by though, is that, through all this, Betts also mixes in a bit of romance, friendship, and a knitting club.
All in all, Tangled Up In Love was a pretty good read. However, I couldnt bring myself to give this a four star- because, even though I know Veronica has a lot going on in her life, I didnt like how she treated the love interest, Dylan. I understand that he's her 'enemy', but did she have to be so mean to him sometimes?
Recommended to any young adults who would like to read a conflicted, romance-filled read.
PS: There's even a match-making lady involved! She spins special yarn from this wheel that has been past down in her family for genertations. It is said true love will come to whoever uses the yarn.

Dylan and Ronnie competed for the same job years ago, and when Dylan won, the two began a very public and very intense game of “anything you can do, I can do better”. They taunt and dare each other to do ridiculous thing like bungee jump, sky dive, getting a tattoo and so on. But when Ronnie dares Dylan to learn how to knit, things get more heated up than either imagined.
Dylan knows he won’t be able to knit without some help, and he finds himself in Ronnie’s weekly knitting group. When he manages to get individual lessons with her as well, the two actually become friends, and their bitter rivalry fades into attraction and passion. But will they be able to put that rivalry on hold, admit their feelings, and take a chance on each other?
I absolutely loved this book. I always enjoy stories about frenemies who can get past their hatred of each other and really see the other person. Dylan and Ronnie are perfectly happy taunting each other to do outlandish stunts, and although all their friends are mutual, the two just can’t seem to be in the same room with each other without blowing up. While they are both sexually attracted to each other, neither wants to admit it.
At first, Ronnie seemed like a really solid and strong character. But as the story progressed, we get to see more chinks in her armor, and to me that made her that more impressive as a character. I loved all her crazy little neurosis, and Betts made her into a funny character with lots of great one-liners. (The humor reminded me of Molly Harper, very fun and snarky)
Likewise Dylan’s character also got to slowly reveal himself to us, and while at times he was infuriating, he was also fun and sexy. His struggle to achieve his dream, not be out done by a girl and his on going fascination with Ronnie’s ass are just some of his more endearing qualities.
The two had great chemistry on the pages, and while their relationship started as purely sexual on a drunken whim, they found their rhythm as a couple and really heated up the story. I really enjoyed watching them go through the dating process, without really dating. Dylan was always bringing over food, taking care of Ronnie when she needed a friend. It was a really fun courtship, without either of them really knowing what was going on with their relationship.
The secondary characters Jenna, Grace, Gage and Zack were great as well. Although all the couples are very conveniently and predictably set within one circle of friends, they also have some really great story potential. Jenna and Gage are recently divorced, but still obviously in love. Grace and Zack are perfectly happily engaged, but come from completely different worlds. I was super excited about their stories, but have read some disheartening things about Book 2 and mixed reviews for Book 3.
All in all, Tangled Up In Love was a fun and sexy and yet very sweet romance book. It had the perfect mix of a sweet love story, a passionate couple that could really heat up the sheets, all wrapped up in a fun and humorous package. I give it an A.
I absolutely LOVE Ronnie and Dylan in this story. Both characters were well developed and funny, actually all the boys were. I loved them far more than the girl side of the character set. Gage and Zach just had so many funny lines as did our man man, Dylan. Seriously, they were all awesome.
The overall premise of the book is great, too. The two have such a terrible rivalry that no one would expect them to get together (though it is a romance, so duh!).
<-- This dropped the rating to a 4.
But, that being said, I loved watching the two character dive forward toward each other. The ... ahem ... sex ... was well ... I think there was more of it than actual story! The scenes were very well depicted and oh, yes, I could picture the 'acts' very very well. ;) Actually for while I thought maybe I'd picked up an erotica novel because yes, there is THAT much very very graphic sex in this book. Who'd have thought about a knitting book. ;) Ha!
<-- This dropped it to a 3.5, but I couldn't go lower because I really did like the story!
There is a singular plot story (very few 'side stories') and we learn about the other characters, but we're never really inside their lives. If you like supporting characters as much as me, then this is probably not the book for you (but hey, I see they have their OWN stories!). That's not a real problem, just if you like diving into the supporting cast, it's not as prominent in this one. The focus, the total focus is the two main characters and because of the funny, often crazy and outrageous sexual escapades they 'endure' together, it's well worth it. :)
This is the first novel I've read by Heidi Betts but if all her books are like this one then I'm definitely going to buy up her back list!
I love a couple who start off at odds with each other and throughout the course of the novel turn all that passion into love. Ronnie and Dylan definitely fit that bill. From page one I was hooked and rooting for them and it was delicious to watch the pair dance around each other on their journey towards a happily ever after.
The story itself is sexy, funny and really entertaining - this was the kind of book you didn't want to put down and has characters that you'll still be thinking about long after the book is done. It's not heavy on the knitting so don't worry if, like me, you've never knitted before. But after reading this book I definitely want to try my hand at it! There are two more books in this series [Chicks with Sticks] and I cannot wait to read Jenna and Grace's stories, Loves Me, Loves Me Knot and Knock Me for a Loop .
If you like fun and sexy romances with great characters then I'd really recommend this book to you. I really loved it from the first page to the last. 5 stars.
I really, really wanted to love this book. The synopsis promised so much, the first twenty or so pages really got me hooked and then...it sort of went downhill.
The first sign was the insertion of Charlotte's point of view (Charlotte is the aunt of one of Veronica/Ronnie's best friends) which doesn't add anything to the story other than building a bridge onto the following books in the Chicks with Sticks series (as far as I can tell, since I haven't read the other books). The idea behind it is kind of cute (an enchanted spinning wheel that supposedly brings true love to anyone who uses the yarns spun in it) but it seems to be added to the story just as an afterthought, not as a relevant part of the plot.
And the second, and most important hint that this book was a bit of a waste of time was the fact that the second half of it is just sex, sex and more sex. Ronnie and Dylan evolve from a fierce professional competition and some of the smartest, funniest, wittiest dialogs I have ever read, onto putting the entire Kama Sutra into practice. Somewhere in between, they supposedly fall in love, though in galls me too that they never really manage to say I love you to each other, not even at the end.
Now, I'm not against having sex scenes in a romance novel, not when it fits the story. But too much of it is...just too much. In this case, it distracted me from the rest of the plot and after a while I just wanted the book to end for me to move onto another more interesting read.
I did like the plot and all the knitting references, the sometimes hilarious dialogs and the cover of the book. Everything else is not so great. So, read if you have time, but don't get your hopes too high.
