Married to the same man for over 25 years, I am a mother to three children and two Miniature Wiener dogs.

After owning a business and experiencing considerable success, my husband and I got caught in the financial crisis and lost everything in 2008; our business, our home, even our car.

At this point, I put my B.A. in Poly Sci to use and took work as a waitress and bartender (Insert irony). Unwilling to give up on a professional life, I simultaneously went back to college and obtained a degree in Energy Management.

And then the energy market dropped off.

And then my dog died.

I can only be grateful for this series of unfortunate events, for, with nothing to lose and completely demoralized, I sat down and began to write the romance novels which had until then, existed only my imagination.
After publishing over twenty novels now, with one having been nominated for RWA’s Distinguished ™RITA Award in 2019, I am happy to tell you that I have finally found my place in life.

Thank you so much for being a part of my journey!

My review :

Can a lady’s maid by circumstances be good enough for a futur Earl ...

I do not know why, but oddly, when I begins the reading of a new release by an author I adore, I feel like fluttering butterflies in my belly, stressed to see if the writer will meet my expectations.
How is it Mrs Annabelle Anders glue me anytime I open one of her books.
She has a knack for landing me in the center of her books’ action.
With few words, she leads right in the center of the subject, shaping her characters with layers upon layers, never they are smooth nor weak, they are flawed and so human.
Roman is my dream man, he used his past errors to shape him in a better version of himself, he is even rather harsh with his young self.
He is genuine and naturally caring. Never he would disrespect someone, and because Rose intrigues him, he wants to get to her. Quickly he understands their chemistry is more than a singular attraction. She makes him rethink his decisions, and even envisage a different future.
Rose after a decade as a lady’s maid has quite forgotten who she once was, she is so afraid to be seen as an imposter, she misses what really matters.
After so many time, caught in the middle, she was never accepted as a servant by her ilk nor will she be welcome back as the daughter of a destitute peer.
Why her uncertainties, and her inability to accept Rome’s suit, she sees herself far bellow his station. Her doubts hold her back, scared she is to be rejected, why she runs. She is more afraid of the consequences for herself than for him, thus she hurts them both.

« That was the most painful of all. The fact that she’d allowed herself to believe she could have more. »

Like every novels by Mrs Annabelle Anders, she drags us in a merry chase, and a bit like Rose, I waited at many turns for the second shoes to drop. Our lack of faith in ourself causes us to often sabotage ourself what chance we have.
But when everything goes down, in some way the circle is complete. All the loose ends find their conclusion.
Mrs Anders crafted an amazing tale of trusting and seing one’s worth.
5 stars

I was granted an advance copy by the author, and prior to it, preordered my own.
Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

Annabelle Anders continues to write stories that takes a hold of your heart, leaves you breathless and makes you feel like you're right there in the story. Words really can't express how much I loved reading Roman and Rose's story.

I've no doubt that many of us are never really sure where we truly belong and sometimes, no matter how much we try, others can't accept us for who we are! Rose has that problem and my heart went out to her and the choices she's had to make. I just wanted to hold her and tell her that everything would be alright!!! Roman is such an honorable man with so much on his shoulders and I really do believe he's my new book hero:) Imagine being so passionately in love and yet society deems it unacceptable and you are being forced to make the right decision. Who says what the "right" decision is, though?!

Highly recommend this book, you won't be disappointed. I was given an ARC of this book an am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Lady Be Good is the fifth book in the Lord Love a Lady series, but you do not need to have read any other Annabelle Anders books to enjoy this one. Lady Be Good works wonderfully as a standalone title. That being said, you do get a better understanding of side characters if you have read the other books in the Lord Love a Lady series. I have only read book four, Lady At Last, and it did not lessen my enjoyment – although it did leave me curious about the other stories in the series.

Whether you’re new to Annabelle Anders or you’re already a fan, Lady Be Good is a book that will hook you. From the very first page you’re pulled into the story, being hit with all the feels from the onset. You fall in love with the characters, you fall in love with their story, and you will find it difficult to put the book down. Once I started, I could not stop. I was lost to it, leaving me to finish the book in a single sitting. It’s the best sort of addictive, making it more than worth the read.

There was so much depth to the characters, offering more than just a standard historical romance romp. There was emotion throughout, drama that intrigues, and elements that are rare to see in the genre. Although I have not read many Annabelle Anders books, she has earned her way onto my list of favourite writers in the genre. With Lady Be Good, I’ve concluded it will take a lot of hard work from other authors to remove her from my top three.

Without a doubt, this was a fabulous story (it’s as beautiful as that breath-taking cover) that will have you hooked throughout. Before the next Annabelle Anders release – I need the next book in the series soon, as I’m super curious about the next story that is to be told – I need to get up to date on the authors other work, as I’m in desperate need of more.

Rose Waring never expected to find herself working as a lady's maid. As a gentleman's daughter she had anticipated marriage and a family of her own, but that was before her father gambled away their funds and she wound up working for her best friend from finishing school. Roman Spencer, Viscount Darlington, is heir to a rich earldom and known for being staid and gentlemanly, never setting a toe out of line. But his attraction to his friend's lovely maid at a Christmas house party is far from appropriate. Even as their attraction blossoms into love, Rome and Rose are still bound by the societal restrictions separating them, unless they're strong enough to choose their love over everything else.

There two had a lot going against them, but their biggest problem was Rose's lack of confidence and poor Roman did quite a bit of typical male bumbling. It took these two forever to get on the same page and get out of one another's way, but they were a charming couple and I was rooting for them the entire time. I especially enjoyed the other characters quietly trying to push them together and Roman's mother, Josephine, especially stole the show for me. This was a lovely and enjoyable read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lady Be Good (Lord Love A Lady Book 5) by Annabelle Anders
I LOVED IT! This is a delightfully decadent sweet confection, too good to pass up!
I throughly enjoyed Rose and Rome’s story. Rose’s father gambled away his titles fortune forcing Rose into service which she found as her best friend’s maid. At a Christmas holiday house party Rose awoke at a knock at the bedroom door when she met with a very drunk Lord Darlington. Darlington has let his brothers get the best of his usually over dull sober demeanor, and now he couldn’t find his bedroom. Rose pulled him inside before someone saw or heard him in front of her door at 3 am. She knew she was safe with him, besides being his best friend’s wife’s maid, there were all of the rumors that he didn’t prefer women anyway. Or were either of them safe?
The characters are witty, with some deep emotional tones, some delightful light-hearted humor, and some sweet tender moments that all lead up-to a forbidden love, society won’t accept.
I recommend this book to everyone who loves historical romance with an engaging storyline, wonderful characters, and a steamy romance that will melt snow.
Happy Reading♥️

Content: Adult, steamy romance with some explicit description.

I did enjoy this story very much. I felt for Rose, having to work as a maid because of her father’s gambling. It was a very lonely life as she wasn’t a true servant, (given how Penelope included Rose in some events )but neither was she one of the guests at the house party. Roman, Lord Darlington, was known to be a serious person, he too, felt as though he didn’t fit in. They were attracted to each other but their different stations proved a hinderance. There are a few surprises in this story but it has a very satisfying ending.

Wonderful story of Roman Spencer, Viscount Darlington and lady's maid Ursula Rosamond Waring. They are a mismatched pair, he being very proper and Rose being very opinionated. Many secrets and many roadblocks later we learn that together they are perfect. Several characters from the previous Lord Love a Lady series visit, but this can be read as a standalone. Highly recommend.

Ursula Rosamond Waring is a lady’s maid––albeit an educated, opinionated, hard headed and impetuous one. She wasn't always meant to be a maid bt when her father gambled away all their money she was lucky enough to become maid to her best friend Penelope
Roman Spencer stands to become one of England’s most powerful earls. Sober and responsible, Viscount Darlington holds honour and duty above all else. Then a rumour starts to circulate.
Stumbling upon one another at a Christmas House Party, the mismatched couple struggles to douse the smouldering attraction threatening to ignite between them.
This is the fifth book in the series & it could be read on its own but to fully appreciate it I’d recommend reading the whole series – which is brilliant. If you love historical romances or just romances then I highly recommend the author, her books are well written, contain lots of humour as well romances that melt your heart & this is no exception. I loved Rome & Rose who’s attraction sizzled but the obstacles thrown in their way made the road to their HEA heartbreaking at times. The characters are well developed & on the whole likeable although there were two characters I could have cheerfully strangled, one of them in a ballroom too. Another unputdownable read.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

A lord and a...maid?

When Rose was about to make her debut, her father gambled his fortune away, leaving the family destitute. With no prospects, she enters into service as lady's maid to her best friend Penelope Crone. But now Pen has married and has a husband and beautiful babies, so things have changed. Then Roman Spencer, Viscount Darlington, stumbles into her life by mistake. Her attraction to him is immediate. But she is no longer a lady, just a lady's maid. So love is out of the question.

Rome needs to wed. Rumors are spreading about him that must be quenched. When taunted into drunkenness by his more adventurous younger brothers, Rome accidently wanders into the wrong room and encounters the most alluring woman he has ever met. But she is not a lady. He cannot compromise a servant. But the attraction he feels cannot be denied.

Can the maligned lord and the once a lady overcome the barriers of class and find true love? Or will society conspire to tear them apart?

These two characters, well, all of Annabelle Anders characters, are so well written. I so appreciate a well thought out character who has flaws and strengths and is "real", and that is what you get with Annabelle's writing. Plus meaty and thought out plots. You cannot go wrong with this book!

Every time a read a book by this author I think she can surely not write a better one. But she always surprises me and makes me fall in love with her heroes and heroines! Her writing is just magical and her stories never fail to wrap around my heart!
Lord and Lady Danbury's Christmas House Party
"Lord Darlington?" Rose blinked in surprise as she opened the door, wondering if her eyes deceived her. "Have you been drinking My Lord?" A ridiculous question as the fumes of alcohol rolled off of him in waves.
Thus the adventure began and what a wonderful journey they take to find happiness. Rose had been raised with gentility, but her father had gambled away everything and she was forced to become a lady's maid to her friend Pen who had just become Lady Danbury.
Rome, Viscount Darlington, seemed all that was good in a man. Rose thought he was handsome and "really too perfect for words." The attraction between them cannot be denied, but she is a maid and he is a Viscount? What can come of that?
I fell in love with Rose and Rome and as I turned the last page I could only smile and know I would read this book again!

Oh my, Annabelle sure knows how to write a captivating romance! This one had my emotions all over the place! So good I could not put it down.

Rome, is the oldest Spencer who will become the Earl Of Ravensdale one day. He is boring to the outside world. But like many he has secrets. He ends up drunk, which is far from his normal character, and in a bedroom with his friend’s wife maid, Rose. She has secrets herself. She was raised to be a lady but when her father lost everything to gambling she became a lady’s maid to her best friend. There are many twists, turns, heart breaks, heart melts, and just some really sweet and steamy moments.

But overall a great book that kept my attention to the end and did not disappoint! Rome and Rose’s story made my heart ache, love, and burn. I really love this series and look forward Lady Asherton’s story! I received an ARC of this book and chose to post my review.

I’ve read many historical romance books and it never ceases to amaze me when it comes to things like the separation of classes and the expectations of them as well as the differing expectations between men and women. Things were so different back then and it’s never been more obvious than in this book. I really feel for Rose knowing her sad background and yet, she makes the best of it. But she doesn’t quite have the mindset of a maid. Her wants seem to constantly go on the back burner as she tends to her best friend, but then Roman steps into the picture and she just can’t help herself. There’s real chemistry between them. My one thing about the book was his offer. To me, it seemed to kind of go against his principles and character. He knew Rose’s background but still made it. That one part I had a hard time getting past. Otherwise, I really enjoyed reading about their blossoming friendship and romance.

This series is a must read

Like all the books in this series, this story is amazing. Rose is a smart witty lady fallen on hard times and her friendship with Penelope is a mixed blessing. Roman, Lord Darlington, never does anything wild or fun... until he ends up at Rose’s bedchamber at 3 am. Together they find a road to happiness neither expected to find. I love reading an Annabelle Anders story, they never disappoint!

I like Annabelle Anders' writing a lot. That's why I read 4 of her books in 2 days. This was the 4th one, and I liked it considerably less than the others.

Surprisingly, I was annoyed by Penelope in this book. I read her book first, and found her inability to do what needed to be done frustrating but I still liked her. That's the thing with Ms. Anders' writing, it makes you empathize with the characters so you give them a wide margin to make mistakes and have character development. But for Lady Be Good, some of them were just too frustrating. For Pen, I found her a bit patronizing in this one with her slips of the tongue (saying that her peers are Rose's betters) and her insensitivity about what her best friend is experiencing. In her own book she was written to be liberal in thinking and didn't care about society's rules. Darlington's family and Margaret seemed more like true friends when Rose was in need. Plus, how can they all think Rose is being an impostor when that's actually her real place/position from birth? Can't Pen have set her up in a better position?

Rose also frustrated me by the last 10-15% of the book. These women are in their late 20s and yet they make very impulsive and poor decisions. Her flight (no fight) response was really really strong. I guess I understood why she refused a lot, but to me it just went on too long that I got bored of it. Like, I'm okay with Rose's fears being focused on, but I wish it were written in a more succinct way.

Anyway, I still love the author's writing so I'll buy and read her other books. Just a note though, I found some spelling errors (like using "insight" for "incite" (to stir up)) and modern speech (was surprised when I read "nope") in multiple books, so I wondered if maybe the editor isn't very good.

This is another entertaining and emotional story from Annabelle Anders. Both Rose and Viscount Darlington (Roman Spencer) were introduced in earlier books in the series so it was wonderful to be able to read their story. Rose was the daughter of a gentleman who had fallen on hard times and was forced to either become a companion to an elderly aunt or seek a position of employment. Penelope, Rose’s best friend, stepped in and offered what she thought was a perfect solution to the dilemma- that Rose become Penelope’s maid. This plan worked for quite a few years but since Penelope’s marriage Rose had felt more of an outsider and just an employee rather than a friend. At a Christmas house party, Rose and Roman cross paths and sparks fly. Roman, however, is the heir to an Earldom and a stickler for proprietary. He does not see a future for a permanent relationship with Rose unless she becomes his mistress. Rose does not want to follow that path. Will either of the two admit to falling in love and will Roman be able to get past the perceived class conflict? I enjoyed the banter in this book and the build up of heat between Rose and Roman but I found Penelope’s oblivion to the problems faced by Rose in her situation a little bit unbelievable. I wanted to give her a good shake when she continued to treat her best friend as an employee in too many situations where she could have been included as either a friend or a companion. Ultimately, the romance works and Anders did a very good job of detailing a class struggle. A very enjoyable read.

So good! This was a great class difference, forbidden romance done right! I loved both MC's, they are so likable, you easily understand their struggles and really feel for them. However, there are times when the h's doubts gets the best of her, it took her so long to really overlook the differences between them and constantly pushes him away.

And that is why, the MMC here was, I must say really made this book 5 stars for me, I mean this is how you write a hero, yes he is not perfect, he has shortcomings however, he knows how to admit his mistakes, apologizes for it, just gives a lot of love to the people who matter to him while at the same time being a competent lord who cares about his tenants and others and is also a responsible son to his parents. And oh, he is also very honest about how he feels, he doesn't sugarcoat things. I think that's why I really loved him. So yeah he was immediately added to the best MMC/heroes/book husbands shelf.

The romance was written so well! I was floored. Every scene that these two are together just really made me so giddy and left me grinning like a lovesick fool. And oh my, this author knows how to write tension and spice, cause' I am telling you the tension here was so palpable, the chemistry was through the roof! I truly loved the progression of their relationship as well. You can just really tell how much they truly love each other. This book was just so good in so many ways. Hope to read more from this author.

His Love

I absolutely loved Rome and Roses story. She was raised a gentleman’s daughter but when her father gambled it all away Rose had to go into service. She became her best friend Penelope’s lady’s maid.
Years later, Penelope is married and Rose is feeling sorry for herself and the circumstances. Wishing life had taken a different route.
Rome is a Viscount and one day he will be an Earl but he wasn’t born into aristocracy. His father was a barrister and was barely making ends meet when he inherited an Earldom. Years later and Rome is still not married even after being jilted the year before.
He is at a Christmas House party when people are pressuring him to marry because of a false rumor about him. When he meets Penelope’s Lady’s Maid Rose he is smitten and asks her to be his mistress and f course she refuses.
Rose can’t believe he was ask her to be his mistress. As they get to know each other Rome has actually fallen in love with Rose. Can Rose believe she is good enough for Rome or will her saying NO to being his wife end their relationship.
A wonderful story with a beautiful ending.

Ms. Annabelle couldn't write a bad book if she tried!! We met Rose in the previous book as a lady's maid to Penelope. Having been raised to be a gentlewoman and accepted a servant's position to avoid being sent off to her aunt as a teenager, Rose is now caught between two worlds - the servants don't accept her and neither does Society, and everyone notices her unusually friendly relationship with her mistress. Thankfully, Rome couldn't care less what society thinks about the woman he finds himself madly in love with, and he goes above and beyond to show her that she is so much more than what all the gossips think she is. A must-read if you enjoy this genre.

Rome & Rose

This book 📕 is an elaborate Beauty & the Beast story. The H is an Aristocrat and the h was reared as a Genteel Lady but circumstances had her become a Ladies Maid. They meet at a Christmas House Party and after a few accidental meetings start having steamy 🔥🔥 passionate affair and they fall in love. The h is given the chance (she didn’t have before her family became impoverished) to come out in Society as a lady hiding the fact that she used to be employed in service. That turned out to be a fiasco. There’s a few more obstacles but the finally get their HEA. It was a good read.

The H appears upright and honourable, but unfortunately he's a disappointment. Likewise so was the h, she loved him but wasn't willing to fight for him. Both reactions were understandable but didn't make for a sympathetic couple. I did like how he treated his son, but that too was too little too late. And the mean OW sort of got away with her awful actions. Sadly, I didn't find this book as satisfying as the others in the series.

My first Annabelle Anders book, and it was perfect!

Having only just started reading Regency Romance, and had no idea there were so many authors.
I found Ms Anders book very quick to get into, loved Rome and Rosie, their story was very believable.
I few tears were shed along the way, but I was very happy with the outcome.
I’m dying to read more of Annabelle’s stories (even though my bookcase is full with other authors that I’ve yet to read!)
Bravo!

excellent story of a women questioning her identity

Rose was a nobleman’s daughter who was made the maid of her childhood friend to save her but in doing so this gentle woman had an identity crisis. Rome was a Viscount who also had negative rumors being spread about him. They developed a friendship that blossomed into a relationship but trouble always happens. This is a nonstop binge read! I wish there was more.

3 Stars. A lady’s maid fmc! My first. Give me more secrecy and longing and the sheer impossibility of imagining a future where two characters can meet. I always eat it up.

Prose was simple as was the story closer to fantasy. As with many other class difference tales, the fmc is actually an impoverished gentry woman despite her ten years of service. While I wish writers didn’t shy away from true explorations into class difference, I enjoyed this story nonetheless.

It was well written and enjoyable. Both Pen & Hugh were flawed but likeable. Both made mistakes and neither was perfect but you could see where each was coming from and that meant there was an equality to their relationship, its problems and the resolution.

I am keen to read more in this series.

Another incredible story!

Oh, I love the Spencer family!!! What an amazing story and Rome deserved such a lovely end! Dreams do come true but so many evil, nasty characters in this book... Glad Love came through in the end for Rose and Rome!
