“I’ll be back with beignets. Extra powdered sugar. Decaf coffee for you.”
“Kink and caffeine— the only two things I miss from BC.” Before Coco.
“I promise, after the baby’s here and you’re ready, we’ll drink espresso and have kinky sex all night.”
“That’s all I ask,” she said.
“Happy now?” Søren asked softly, laughter in his voice. “Now that you left your mark on the bed?”
Kingsley opened his tired eyes and saw the steel ring had cut gouges into the top of the bedpost, gouges so deep they’d exposed the pale wood underneath the dark stain and varnish.
Blissfully, he smiled.
“Very, very happy.”
“Don’t let me fall asleep,”Kingsley said. “I want to be home by midnight.”
“What happens at midnight?”
“Juliette will want crêpes.”
“You make her crêpes at midnight? Midnight crêpes?”
“She’s six months pregnant with my baby. If she wants crêpes at midnight and blood oranges at dawn and a rack of lamb for lunch, she gets it.”
“Maybe I want midnight crêpes.”
“Are you pregnant with my child?”
“Not at the moment.”
“Then make your own fucking crêpes.”
“But I don’t think he’s mad at you at all.”
“Are you sure?”
“He’s been playing Vivaldi’s ‘Winter’ over and over again like some kind of Phantom of the Rectory. It’s very adorable, not that I told him that. I think he’s pining for you. I know he’s not pining for me. He can’t get rid of me.”
Søren was kissing his back, kissing his bruises. Kissing them softly, but even Søren's softest kisses caused him pain. Those were his favorite kisses, the ones that hurt.
Truly, only Søren could wield kisses like a knife and a knife like a kiss.

“Was there anything like being kissed while fighting for air that made one feel more used? More owned?”

“Come,” Søren ordered into his ear, and Kingsley couldn’t disobey. His back bowed and he let go, coming in spurts onto the white sheets even as Søren pounded into him with rough thrusts Kingsley barely registered through the wild haze of orgasm.

His body was a sacrificial bonfire and Soren the god for whom he burned.
"I've been saving it for you."
"What did I do to deserve the honor?"
"You showed up."
