Nancy Cornish PI

Rate this book
Where extraordinary things happen…you’ll find Nancy Cornish Nancy Cornish has recently left her job at The Whistling Kettle Café in Padstow to start her own PI business. Nancy, seemingly an ordinary member of her community, has an extraordinary gift. She is able to make psychic connections with those who have passed, and objects belonging to those still living. The PI denotes Psychic Investigator, not Private Investigator. Her husband Charlie is a DS in the Truro police, and a down to earth Cornishman. In the past, he’s dismissed Nancy’s gift as ‘mumbo jumbo’, but now he accepts that she’s a very good detective. He’s over the moon that she’s been able to help him solve some important crimes, and is keen for her to keep up this good work. As well as working with her husband in his police work, Nancy’s main mission in life is to use her gift to help others. In the grand scheme of things, the cases she solves within her community might not seem very important. However, they mean the world to those who come to Nancy for help. Some of her successes to date has been to reunite long lost lovers, track down a war hero’s missing medals, rescue a beloved pet, and find the mystery ingredient in the local butcher’s prize-winning sausages! In this sequel to The Cornish Connection, we see people come to Nancy for all sorts of reasons. Some are new clients, some are old friends, and she often discovers that what they say they need help with, is only the beginning of their story. Nancy’s investigations and discoveries help them to see what’s most important to them in life, and how to achieve it. And as we all know, that thing is happiness. Nancy Cornish PI – ‘An unusual and uplifting story, set against the gorgeous backdrop of Cornwall. Perfect!’

I have read both of them this week and really enjoyed them.
They are light reading which is perfect for the moment and would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a light read which is easy to get lost in.

I absolutely loved The Cornish Connection so I was over the moon to see the sequel, Nancy Cornish PI, released just a few months after. Amanda James really has found the golden goose with Nancy Cornish and long may she continue to lay such fabulously entertaining golden eggs. Nancy Cornish PI (psychic not private investigator) is such a kind, caring and warm character who has such an amazing gift that she uses to help people.

Although this is the second book in the series, you don't need to read The Cornish Connection in order to enjoy Nancy Cornish PI but you really should read it as not only is it brilliant but it gives you a good introduction to some of the characters. Nancy is back and this time it's personal - when she receives psychic messages relating to her mother's life, you'd think it would be easy to convince her mother to take heed but not when it's something her mother doesn't want to hear.

I love Nancy so much that the spiritual visitors she receives are even more poignant when they are her own family. In fact towards the end of the book I thought I'd got away with just a lump in my throat until I started blubbing a few sentences later. These visits must be so painful for Nancy, feeling the euphoria of seeing her loved one again only for it to be snatched away again as her visitor disappears like smoke on a breeze.

There are so many little stories contained within Nancy's own story, as people come to Nancy for help. You can really feel Amanda James letting her imagination run wild as she creates such a colourful cast with a variety of stories ranging from romantic and heartwarming to suspenseful and dangerous. It was great to see the results of Nancy's endeavours as some familiar characters also make an appearance.

As much as I wanted to race through the pages devouring every single word, I didn't want the story to end. Pairing mystery with a supernatural edge makes for such a compelling and unique series that is also hugely entertaining and heartwarming. Nancy Cornish PI is an absolutely brilliant book in an outstanding series and I really can't recommend it highly enough.

I chose to read an ARC and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

It is so nice to be back in the world of Nancy and Charlie again. I feel they are closer in this book as Charlie now believes totally in Nancy’s gift even if he doesn’t understand it. Nancy has the great gift of getting messages from spirit just by holding an object belonging to someone. Sometimes spirits like her grandmother and her son just suddenly appear to her.
Nancy is a psychic detective. The detective part is because the spirits don’t seem to give precise information, only clues which Nancy has to follow on from.

There are another cast of characters who need her help as well as updates on some we met in the first book. What I liked is each of her cases has a thread which runs through the book keeping them in the story and keeping the reader’s interest in them.
Nancy is a likeable person who puts people at their ease and makes friends easily.

I read this book in a day. It was so easy to read and more than enough going on in it to keep me turning the pages.
I do hope this turns out to be a trilogy and I’ll have book three to look forward to.

The sequel to Cornish Connection, this is a great summer read. Thoroughly enjoyed the first book and loved this one just as much. Things have moved on. Nancy's relationship with her husband has settled down now he has accepted her gift as an asset and not mumbo jumbo, her mother has moved down from Scotland and brought some problems with her that Nancy struggles to work through with her, causing a family rift for a while. All in all another book full of action that never leaves you bored!

This is the second book in the Nancy Cornish PI series. The PI is Psychic Investigator and Nancy has run her business helping people for a year. She helps people find lost items of sentimental value, discovers untold secrets and puts peoples minds at rest. This is a series I am really enjoying as I follow Nancy around Cornwall as she connects the dots and solves the mysteries.

As this is the second book in the series I was already aware of some of the characters and there are brief mentions of past cases. To be honest, it is a book you could read as a stand-alone, but I would advise reading in order as some of the characters have some smaller ongoing storylines.

This book follows Nancy as she solves a series of cases, while some seem straight-forward there are also others that have a more serious nature. Other involve a more lengthy course of action and take a while to come together. They are wonderfully woven together and kept me hooked throughout the book.

I always mention this authors use of the Cornish landscape and surrounding area, she uses it to such good effect and it adds a wonderful sense of place. It always amazes me how well she weaves the scenery into the story and it always feels fresh and like you are taking a short breather from the story but are still very much involved.

This is another fabulous book int the series and one that I think mystery readers would really enjoy as well as those who want something slightly different. Yes, it does have a psychic element to it and I think it works really well. It has left me wanting to read more in the series and I would definitely recommend it.

Nancy Cornish lives in Cornwall, a beautiful part of the world which Amanda James describes in technicolour and with so much love that I actually want to pack up my house and move down there.

Nancy is a Psychic Investigator and her office is a warm welcoming shed at the bottom of her garden. She is married to Charlie, who is a policeman at the local constabulary but hoping to make a DI very shortly. Theirs is a real love story that would melt the hardest of hearts.

Many people seek Nancy’s help in one form or another and she is always willing to go the extra mile to solve a problem. However, she is no pushover and when the need arises, she will stand up for herself and her psychic abilities!

Not everything runs smoothly in the Cornish household though. The underlying story of Nancy’s mum moving back to Cornwall with her much young boyfriend in tow and the impact this has on Nancy’s life, moved me to tears.

This book’s strength is in the way the author engages with her readers through Nancy. Every now and again Nancy will digress from the story and have a quiet word with herself and I felt honoured to be privy to her thoughts

I thoroughly enjoyed book 2 in this wonderful series set in Cornwall of a psychic investigator who uses her 'connections' for good. Like the first book, I was captivated by the end of the first chapter and couldn't put the book down.

Nancy Cornish has a special gift which allows her to see Spirits who appear to her after someone asks her for help, be it to find a missing item; ask for emotional help or to find a person. Initially, Nancy's husband, Charlie, a DS with the police was sceptical about her gift, but after it helped in a couple of cases, he is very much more open to it.

In this book, Nancy's Mum comes back to live in Cornwall after moving to Scotland after Nancy's Dad died, however things are not as they should be; her friends Penny needs help with a work I'd due and Georgia needs help with her daughter, initially, but it turns into more than that.

The books in this series need to be read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline. Lots of the characters appear in subsequent books.

I can't wait to read the 3rd book in this series. If you like a really good book you can get into, then this is the one for you.

What a captivating lovely story. Book two set in beautiful Cornwall follows the endearing and headstrong character Nancy Cornish Psychic Investigator. Her business has been slowing down a little since it's flourishing start having being set up only twelve months ago.....but it is all about to change! She loves helping the community by making good of her special gift. It's not all a bed of roses though as trouble is heading her way with a capital T. There are scary and tense moments as the story unfolds but the good inevitability conquers the bad (or so we hope) so be prepared for an emotional ride. If you are looking for a feel good story that will make you smile and cry with plenty of ooows and ahhhs along the way then this beautifully written heartwarming read (sprinkled with a little fairy dust) is just the book for you. Very much recommended.

I love a bit of psychic mystery and Amanda James doesn't disappoint with her second Nancy Cornish book.
Her characters are always relatable and real, you want them to get a happy outcome (apart from the villains, of course!) Let's not forget the stunning Cornwall location which Amanda never fails to describe with such beauty that I'm back in the dream of wanting to live there!
Really hoping there is a 3rd Nancy Cornish book in the pipeline!

I enjoyed the first book but thought this one was even better. Nancy Cornish is now a full time psychic investigator. She is able to communicate with people who have passed and is happy helping her community and sometimes the police. I really love the bits when her gran comes to visit her, it always makes me laugh. For me this is an uplifting book and I hope there will be more books to come.

Psychic intervention

Wonderful read. Nancy helps people out by giving them a reading and through spirit can see flashes or images which leads to a result. I'm familiar with this and it's lovely to read about it in a work of fiction. Love the connection between Nancy and her husband Charlie. Thoroughly enjoyed this novel and look forward to reading more
