'You Matter' is a gentle reminder. A book of hope, bravery and courage on discovering and embracing the inner beauty that exists within us. It is a letter to a weary heart, searching for hope in the uncertain. An assurance that better days are ahead.
Overall the “poetry” is over-simplistic, boring, and full of generic pandering platitudes which lack any real depth or substance. There’s nothing new in this book that you won’t find done better in a hundred other self-help books and there’s no real art in here - nothing creative, nothing new, nothing original. It’s just bland.
Very beautiful, I loved it! This was the kind of poetry I was looking for. Sometimes you just need to hear/read this as a reminder. I’m definitely going to read it again.
~“I HOPE YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE COURAGE TO LOVE YOURSELF NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THE WORLD BREAKS YOUR HEART.”
~When we appreciate and accept life in the way that it unfolds, we allow ourselves to let go of the idea of perfection; and as we learn to look at life in a non-judgmental way, we find beauty in the imperfect, we notice peace in the chaos, and as a result, we nourish our soul and the world in a harmonious and loving way. *Goal: appreciate life. accept its unpredictability. perfection is only an illusion. Imperfection is where true joy and peace lie.
~And when the world hurts you, breaks you, attempts to change you remember to always come back to yourself, to hold onto yourself and everyday carry in your heart some love to give to your own self.
This is yet another circumstance when I wished that Goodreads would allow us to give half star ratings because I believe that 2* is too harsh, but 3* too generous, so I would give this 2.5*.
I don’t really have much to say on this book, to be honest. The structure of the poetry was nothing special, it wasn’t elaborate and the last poem didn’t bring the anthology to a close; it was rather an abrupt stop. Synthetic personalisation was used, which I think is the reason people have rated the book so highly, as it spoke to them in their darkest days. The poetry was focused around self-love and that’s it’s okay to take your time healing, which I always think is a very important message to say.
I did like some of the poems- I can’t give you the names as unfortunately they had no titles but they’re pages 17, 29, 65, 79, 118 and 121.
The cover design is simply gorgeous, one of my favourites on my shelf as it adds to the uplifting nature of the book. It is split into 3 sections: dawn, sunrise and new day. Each section has pages of motivation that aren’t poems in, too.
Overall, the reason I’m only giving it 2* is because I personally prefer more elaborately structured poems. Though I did like a few, I wasn’t personally moved by any of them as I’ve seen some people. Hence, it just wasn’t a book that I clicked with like I hoped to so I have it a lower rating.
I read this straight-through on a night when I couldn't sleep and it felt like a much-needed hug. This collection of poetry serves up a persistent reminder that learning to love yourself should be your number one goal in life, and that it's just as important to give yourself the love and kindness that you give others... At the same time, it's also a friendly reminder that it doesn't happen overnight and that there will be bumps in the road.
Note that none of these poems are earth-shattering or very original, but if you enjoy Instagram poetry and messages of self-love then give it a try. There were a few typos and missing words throughout that should have been caught by an editor, an unfortunate side-effect of self-published books.
I’m terms of the poetry itself, Dhiman writes with a simplicity that is beautiful. What makes it special to me however, are the additions made by a friend which makes it certainly a five star read that I’ll always come back to :)

Mixed feelings with this one. The poems are okay overall but unfortunately, theres so little text for the majority of the book that it feels like you're paying for mostly white spaces.
The very short poems are similar to cheesy instagram quotes BUT the longer ones do provide great insight and reflection.
✨ „even in the despair make room for hope for there is, always, always hope“ ✨
I‘m a bit indecisive about this one. On the one side I thought many of the poems were pretty dull and mediocre but I still liked most of them anyway. Nevertheless I had hoped or at least expected that this book or rather these poems would leave some kind of a bigger emotional impact on me. I hate the fact that you can’t give half stars on goodreads as this was nether an only 2 stars read nor a 3 stars read for me. I would truly like to give this book 2.5 stars but as this is not possible here, I guess I’m going with the 2 stars.
I am pretty surprised by the goodreads rating of this book. The “poems” are super short and more like inspirational quotes you would find on a daily tear-off calendar, really generic and basically fluffy words, not anything really moving or motivating or worth reading. The longer reflections felt like they just said the same thing with different words over & over. Very disappointing.
I really needed this book! Just read it through once and can honestly say it is something I will pick up and read through whenever things get a bit tough as it’s nice to ‘hear’ kind words that are so lacking on a day to day basis. I’m not huge on poetry but these are more like positive sayings that are of great comfort. For instance: “Even in the despair make room for hood for there is, always, always, hope” It’s going to be a long while before I can truly believe any of these apply to me, but I’m going to try. So if you’re struggling in a big way, or just in a need of a lift, give this book a try, you won’t regret it.
This book You Matter by Dhiwan should replace bibles in nightstands everywhere.
People would be happier. Society would function better.
It could be retitled Letters from My Strong Wise Grandma When I Was Down.
It is simple in its language and verse. And as noted elsewhere, the themes are repetitive. But that is the authors design. This is not a book to read in big chunks but serially and, ideally, daily. To re-wire your brain and fortify your self worth against a constant barrage of negative media, you need a daily practice.
This book has come to me at the right time. I think I marked almost every page. It gives you the light push to see yourself and your actions from a different point of view. It encourages you and gives you the much-needed hope about your own life that anyone needs from time to time. Truly loved this collection of poems and can recommend it to anyone who finds themselves in a darker place or even just had a rough day. Give yourself some inner enlightenment and peace to nurture your soul by easily connecting with every written piece.
I can honestly say I wasn't really expecting what I found in this book. It's essentially a book of poetry about healing, but there are a lot of those and not all of them do this. I'm actually on a journey of healing (for me, one that never ends) and this book made me feel something wonderful and unusual -- it made it feel okay to *be healing* and to *need* healing in the first place. Acceptance is a hard thing to find, so I hope you can find it like I did in a book of poetry.
Also, I found this book completely inspirational. I've often suffered from writer's block because I have such confidence issues. I can't write because I'm too scared of what people will think of what I produce. But this book made me feel so much better about who I was, that I started writing about my own healing! Just page after page of poetry. Thank you so much Dhiman! (I can't wait to read your second book!)

🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 "In all your difficulties, you are still blooming" I love this mentality and what it can potentially atract. Got to be honest, I dove into this book, thinking it will reek of buoyancy. And for the most part it did, but after reading to myself multiple times each poem, I secretly started to mutate back into someone with optimistic views on herself. I'm aware it may be a fleeting sentiment, but I still very much cherish it. The writing style is simple, and candid, but it fits the overall theme. Dhiman's lovely collection of self motivational poems are there to sympathise with everybody beating themselves down. It provides a mental catharsis needed, not only when you feel down & abandoned, but all the time. For one, I also like following the social media accounts of the author. Highly recommended for every morning routines~
This is an exemplary book for people who don't want to read paragraphs upon paragraphs on psychological issues and, self love, accountability life dilemmas. The writings are so accurate and clear about the conundrums of life that you will be amazed how simple your issues are to start with. Just read every word of it and then read again. You will understand that every word in that page has a connection with your fears, shame or guilt. It's a must for anyone who is facing difficulties in relationships, self love, lost career or love, lost family members or confused about life and its challenges. I loved it.
This was such a beautiful read! I highlighted most of the book if not all of it. I saw a lot of reviews saying it’s too simple. It is because of its simplicity that it’s beautiful. I loved that it was honest and genuine. I was feeling a bit “sensitive” today and this was just the perfect read to finish tonight. There are a lot of quotes that would do you wonders as daily gentle reminders. I absolutely loved it. I’m glad I bought a copy so that I can always go back and read it when I need to be kinder to myself.
This was a tough rate. There's some really good ones in here that I loved, but also a lot of stuff I just didn't like at all.
the bad ones felt pretty cheesy... instagram-caption-esque. many of them didn't really have a real cadence or much substance to them and some were just a single corny motivational sentence with line breaks thrown into it.
but the good ones in here were very good for me. loved them. so Im torn. I'd say 2.5 stars but until Goodreads gives us that option, benefit of the doubt goes to the author and I'll give it 3 stars.
Unfortunately, I felt like every page had the exact same message but in different words. In short, "be yourself", "you are worthy", "always push for better", "you can do anything", and "love yourself first" - that's about it. There were also many typos and missing words throughout the book, which I didn't appreciate.
All that being said, there were three to four gem poems in there but not enough to make it worth reading the entire book.
Cute messages that can feel like a soft hug from a friend, but in general quite simple if you're used to reading thousands of self-love quotes. Might be a cute present for someone who is not used to read them or that is not into complicated poetry (they are instagram-style texts). Even if it's simple, though, some of those quotes will definitely resonate with you and make you smile (even a little bit) with relief.
This isn't poetry. It has no structure or form, no poetic devices, no depth, nothing that required a great deal of thought, and nothing that will make you think deeper than the few words on the page. These are "inspirational quotes" that tell you what you want to hear (even though you will have already heard them before multiple times).
Some of them are solid. But most pages are filled with one or two sentences... with hardly no message at all and barely any poetic and aesthetic beauty. After reading "Becoming a Wildflower" by April Green...i thought this poem collection is just really bad. Toward the end, I thought that it was very repetitiv....disappointed...
Read this in 20 minutes and I'm not sure that's a good sign. I liked some of the poems quiet a lot, until I turned the page and read the same poem again. Some things resonate with me, but reading them one time would have been enough. Layout and spelling aren't perfect either, and some poems I only connected with because I read them as gay, but I don't think they were supposed to be.
Read this for the first time years ago, amid a falling out with a friend and a very difficult breakup around the same time. Reading this again reminds me of how resilient and empowered I’ve become in the years since then, and I’m so grateful for the role this book played in that. The empowerment, encouragement, and validating from these messages brought so much hope and healing.
