Marvel's Silver-level FCBD title provides two exciting tales connected to the coming major storylines in Venom, Amazing Spider-Man and Black Cat from top creators Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, Jed MacKay, Patrick Gleason and more!
Spidy y Black Cat contra el Buitre. Y Eddie Brock y su inseparable amigo Venom metidos en un lío lo suficientemente gigante como para necesitar la ayuda de los Vengadores.
Spidy and Black Cat against the Vulture. And Eddie Brock and his inseparable friend Venom got into a problem enough big to need the help of the Avengers.
This issue contains two stories- the first about Spiderman and Black Cat and the second one being about Venom. In the first story, Peter and Felicia are battling it out with Vulture and working well as a team. The sexual tension is high and Peter questions what Felicity is up to, as she can't always be trusted. In the next story, Eddie Brock is warning the Avengers team that the extremely dangerous villain Knull is readying to attack. His symbiote Venom is friendlier than I remember, and the two have to battle another villain, Virus. Both stories are good lead-ins to their respective future narratives.
Free comic book day books are supposed to set up what is to come, and both these do it well.
The first story is about Black Cat and Spidy. It's cute, fun, and got a few solid jokes. Mackay is turning out to be a solid writer and the art is pretty solid. Donny writes the other story about Venom and Krull is coming. Neither is amazing but both stories are fun and help build up their next plot lines. A 3 out of 5.
Jedd Mackay's story with Black Cat and Spider-Man catching each other up on their runs was beautifully done, and the Venom story by Donny Cates setting up his King in Black event really made me want to pick up the Venom run! Cates definitely has a good voice for the relationship between Brock and the Symbiote.
This FCBD 2020 issue had two stories the better one with Spider-man and Black Cat, fighting the vulture, and then a short story about Venom as usual, the case with the FCBD issues both the stories lead to their specific continued storylines.
I have always loved comics, and I hope always to love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics, Diamond Comics, or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I love comics to bits, may the comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
Kindle provided this as a freebie. Unfortunately in Kindle the colours don’t come out so one has to really download the app. A telephone screen is too small so I commandeered my children’s iPad. Success! The features of the comic book on the device in amazing. The story is more a brief introduction of Spider-Man, Black CatAnd The Vulture and obviously this is to be continued... .... And there’s more. Keep on scrolling and an enticing Venom, Carnage and Avengers sampler to whet the appetite
The Spiderman story had me both bored asking why and just un enthused. The art was partly can't tell what it is and partly good and the writing was not my thing. Then the venom part came along and I was very impressed the art of virus, which is my introduction to him, was amazing and the art on venom himself I think could be a little better. The writing was awsome, would continue with the donny cates story.
The first story stars Spider-Man and Black Cat on a quick mission together, but it is their dialogue and relationship dynamics that really make this story a winner. (3.5 stars)
The second story is just a set up for the 2020 Marvel event "King in Black," and it had some parts I could have lived without, and some parts that intrigued me. (3 stars)
I thought this funny, cool and heartwarming in some areas when it needed to be. Seeing Spider-Man and Black Cat ambush The Vulture was pretty clever and funny when they annoy him with their banter. I was hoping they’d capture him but even so, that’s just a nitpick. If you like the webhead and his dark alter-ego, then you’ll like this. Swing on in and check it out.
I must say that I haven't come across many graphic novels about Venom and Spider-Man all together(although this one has two different stories about each of them), but it was very good and I'm quite eager to read the others.
