JACKSON AVERY has everything in life, except somebody to share it with. But as the owner of one of the largest private security forces in the country, he’s got plenty to keep him busy until he finds ‘the one.’ After spending the last year dealing with the fallout of his best security agents falling for their clients, the last thing Jackson expects is to take one look at feisty camboy, Dayton Daniels, and almost instantly know that he’s it for him.
DAYTON DANIELS has been on his own since he was just fourteen years old. He’s spent his entire life scraping by, doing whatever’s necessary to survive. A severe learning disability has left Day unable to read and forced him to find creative ways to make a living. Camming allows him to earn money while keeping his clients at a distance, and Day has grown used to keeping everybody at a distance...until he witnesses a murder and Jackson Avery walks into his life.
Guarding Day is supposed to be a favor, a simple off the books job until they find out who killed a prominent attorney, but Jackson quickly realizes there is nothing simple about Day. He’s beautiful, smart, surprising, and Jackson is all in merely ten minutes after they meet. But Day, he can’t imagine a man like Jackson wanting to spend his life with somebody like him, and he is determined to do anything to send Jackson running in the opposite direction, no matter how much it hurts.
When Day starts receiving threatening emails, Jackson enlists his team to hunt down the killer. Day doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life living in fear, but every day he’s with Jackson, he falls a little harder, forming cracks in the walls he’s worked so hard to build up around himself. Can Jackson solve a murder and find a way past Day’s defenses to convince him there is such a thing as love at first sight and that everybody deserves a happily ever after, even him?
INFURIATING is the fourth book in the Elite Protection Services Series and contains age-gap, Daddy-kink, voyeurism and lingerie with a HEA and no cliffhangers.
Warning: This book contains brief portrayals of childhood emotional abuse as well as discussions of past child sexual trauma and one scene of on-page physical violence to a main character at the hands of somebody other than the main character.
Onley James lives in North Carolina with her daughter, her daughter-in-law, son-in-law, and a menagerie of animals, both good and evil. James splits her time between writing m/m romance and mainlining dangerous levels of caffeine and attempting to maintain her ever-slipping sanity.
When not at her desk you can find her whining about how much writing she has to do while avoiding said writing by binge-watching unhealthy amounts of television and doom scrolling on social media. She loves true crime documentaries, anti-heroes, and writing kinky, snarky books about morally gray men who fall in love with other men.
⭐ 3.4 “A bit nonsensical, but still fairly enjoyable” stars ⭐
To be completely upfront, I’ve been dreading picking this one up for a while now. After some specific spoilers I spotted while researching (aka reading other’s reviews), my plans for grabbing this any time soon were scrapped… until all the hype for the spin-off series got to me, that is.
Once that happened, it was only a matter of time until I caved.
The verdict, now that I’m done?
Plus, the plot might’ve been Sloane Kennedy’s levels of OTT, but the smut was HOT! And I’m nothing if not a woman of simple tastes.
**************
In this final installment of the Elite Protection Services series, we are reintroduced to Jackson, the boss of the security/bodyguard company and another badass ex-military guy… as is the case with half of the MCs in these books lol. Jackson was someone who I was glad to see stepping into the spotlight, particularly because despite his title of “boss” he’d been majorly sidelined by the author in previous entries. Here, we finally get a taste of the kind of man he is, and while he won’t be winning any awards for “biggest personality”... at least the man knew how to use his other attributes, if you catch my drift.
(And I’m obviously talking about his loyal and considerate nature as a partner over here, you dirty-minded people!)
Then, opposite him and playing the other half of the main couple, we have Dayton, a camboy who gets assigned to Jackson as a pro-bono case after becoming a witness to a horrible incident. Dayton was someone who I felt for, considering his tragic backstory and struggles with severe dyslexia, yet… I didn’t entirely find myself liking him. He earned my pity as a reader, but not exactly my earnest appreciation.
All in all, these two were okay MCs for me, following the usual “hurt boy and the big strong man who safe keeps him” dynamic that is a staple of the series. And which I adore, but has, in my humble opinion, been done way better by the same author in previous entries.
Here, the attempts at setting up an actual romantic connection between Jackson and Day fell kind of flat for me. We were told these two were in love and each other's soulmates a lot, but I didn't personally feel it. I did enjoy their tender moments, however, like when Day was opening up about his struggles and then when Jackson introduced him to his family early on, but I wished there had been a bit more emotional meat to the story. Other than the proverbial meat everyone was peeling out of their pants every two pages or so… but you won’t hear me complaining about that.
Accurate scientific depiction of the reading process. Because this has some of the best smut I've read by this author, and that's no exaggeration.
The bottom line, though, is that If you have read and liked any of Onley James’ books before, then chances are you’ll also find enjoyment here. It’s an easy read, with some great steam, and an also easy to root for (if not a bit shallow) relationship. In spite of the fact that this did end up being my least favorite book of the series, I have no regrets finishing it.
I'm reading this series out of order because I'm a rebel like that. I've been curious about Jackson who's so serious and contained in the other books. In this book, we see a more relaxed version of Jackson, and I liked it.
I will forever see Jackson as a slightly younger Idris Elba, who is undoubtedly one of the world's most gorgeous men at any age (fight me). But Jackson isn't just hot. He's a loving son and brother, a fair boss, and a strategic thinker. And the second he sets eyes on Dayton, he just know Day is meant to be his.
Dayton grew on me, but I didn't love him initially. He was mean and caustic. That scene at Jackson's mother's house had me gaping because what the hell? If one of my guests caused a scene like that at my parents' house, I would show them the door. Day had every right to be real, but he had no right to be disrespectful and rude. In general, I felt like Jackson cut Day too much slack when Day didn't trust Jackson enough to be honest.
I didn't find the plot to be entirely credible. I was especially confused how
But whatever. The sex was damn hot, and the ending made me smile.

I have loved most of the books in this series, but this one might be my favorite. I really enjoy how these MCs fit together. They are both absolute sweethearts, but while Jackson is outwardly sweet and nice to mostly everyone, Day is the exact opposite. He is super prickly and goes on the offensive to avoid being vulnerable or seeming ‘weak’. I also think this one had the best suspense element out of the four books. There were some properly heartbreaking moments, but I tend to love that.
I thought Dayton and Jackson were a good match. Jackson is a romantic and has the patience of a saint, so he was able to deal with Dayton’s problems and insecurities, which led to him trying to push Jackson away. Jackson wasn’t having it, lol. Surprisingly enough, Dayton didn’t annoy me with his push and pull thingy. Probably because it didn’t lead to anything major happening. Just acceptance of issues and eventually good communication. Day really is a fantastic character. Flawed, but one you can’t help but fall in love with. If you’ve previously enjoyed any books by this author, I think you would like this one.
“Easy killer. You’ve made your point. She’s gone.” He dropped his hand from Day’s lips. “Fucking twat.” Day muttered before realizing the cashier and the woman both stared at him with wide eyes. “Sorry,” Day tacked on almost as an afterthought, not sounding sorry at all.
“So that’s your type?” Webster asked when they were alone. “That twinky ball of rage?”
“From bossy bottom to pillow princess in three days. That has to be some kind of new record […]”
“I don’t care that you yell at old ladies in grocery stores or you try to come out swinging even when nobody’s looking to fight you.”
“Jackson?” Day whispered in the darkness. “Yeah, baby?” “If you break my heart, I don’t think I’ll survive it.”
“Day is the sweetest, most selfless person I know. He’s also the prickliest and meanest person I know […]”
“I’m not sitting in that.” ”You’ll sit wherever I tell you, and you’ll smile and be the sweet and gracious boy I know you can be or your birthday spankings will have a slightly heavier hand than last year. Got it?” “Are you trying to talk me into being good or bad? I honestly can’t tell,” Day said without looking at him.

Overall an enjoyable read. More of the guilty pleasure variety. I thought the relationship was a bit...superficial maybe? IDK, not a lot of depth and emotions. Mostly insta-attraction.
A bit OTT at times. But no manufactured drama.
This is the only book in the series I've read. I can be read as a standalone I think, but I was a bit lost as to who everyone was.
I'll definitely be checking out other works by this author.
I loved this book so so so so so much! SO MUCH. To be honest though, I don’t think I have ever read a book by this author that I disliked. She’s just such a good author. This one is a favorite, though. I absolutely adored the characters in this book. Not the bad ones though obvi. They can go to Hell.
I loved Day. My heart was sunk on him the moment he gave two middle fingers to a mean old lady at the market. He’s so feisty and a little crazy, but I loved him. His past tore my heart in two, but Jackson’s love for him stitched it back together.
Jackson. Jackson. Jackson. Sexy freaking Jackson. This man. Wow. I loved how he was with Day. I loved how he knew they were endgame the moment they met. So romantic and mushy. Cue the swoon. They fit together so well, and I loved it. Jackson is also so supportive and understanding, and UGH. What a man.
The sex. Yesssssssss. This author is so dirty, and I love it. Jackson and Dayton were so in tune with each other. They just fit into their roles easily, and it was very fun to read. There’s also a daddy kink in this book, and it is YUM.
This author always has to have something crazy happen in her books, and I live for it. I like when things get shaken up, even though it causes the characters some pain. Things would just be boring if something big didn’t happen, you know? Something big definitely happened in this. I saw it coming but omg. I was chewing fingernails the whole time. Don’t let this hold you back though. All is well in love and whatever. The HEA is there.
How many times can I say I love this book before you get angry? I’m going to say it again, though. I LUV this book. Please read it. I don’t usually re-read books, but I can definitely see myself re-reading this one. Sooooo good. Anyway. Peace, love, and daddy’s xoxoxoxo
I just love this. I swear I feel like I'm the easiest person to please on this app/site. This book pushed the right buttons and the right strings for me.
I liked this! Even though the relationship started out in a way that was very out of character for Jackson.
Jackson is the boss of Elite’s Protection Services and he always came across as a no-nonsense man who doesn’t take shit from anyone. And while I totally got that he was immediately attracted to Dayton, whom he had to protect, it felt completely out of character for him to start a physical relationship with Day only hours after meeting him.
Jackson was really cross with Lincoln and Shep in the previous books when they got involved with a client. And even though Day wasn’t technically a paying client, Jackson was still responsible for his safety. And to have him throwing all his reservations out the window and to willingly have sex with Day when they just met, didn’t feel right to me.
If they’d just known each other for a couple of days longer it would have felt more realistic.
And Jackson didn’t want to broadcast his relationship when they first started having sex because he didn’t want Day to run away before he earned his trust, but did he suddenly forget they had sex on cam for Day’s webcam show online? I know Jackson wore a mask, but come on! His entire team could see it was him. Especially since Jackson had them investigating Day’s webcam subscribers to find his stalker. It’s like giving your employees a link to the porn video you made……
But….. besides all this, I still enjoyed it. I liked prickly Day and how he needed his strong daddy to take care of him (yes, we have bedroom daddy kink!). And protective Jackson was just perfect for Day. I love a patient big strong man who will do anything to gently take care of the traumatized smaller guy. I can read that formula over and over again.
(PS, that cover is one of the worst I've ever seen....)
It was fine. Not the best, not the worst. Kinda getting tired of OJ's fixation on these strict overmasculine top/sassy twink bottom stereotypes she presents in her books though. Like, maybe it's the point of this series, but eh... 🤷🏻♀️ It just gets old.
In this continuation of Elite Protection series Jackson Avery, the owner of the agency, finds his happy ever after with a young man who has been dealt a tough hand in life but made the best of it. It's steadily paced, love at first sight steamy Daddy/boy romance with a touch of humor, angst and mild suspense. I liked both Jackson and Dayton. They completed each other - Jackson was a protector and nurturer and that was exactly what Dayton needed. I think Dayton brought a bit of playfulness into otherwise serious life of security company owner.
I enjoyed all the secondary characters that made cameo appearance as well as new additions. Jackson's family was an absolute hoot. I liked how the author presented Dayton's disabilities, how strong he was despite the circumstances. He was holding his own even when he thought less of himself. The villain after some time was obvious but I liked how guys dealt with the problem. Overall this was another enjoyable story by Onley James.
While I enjoyed this, it didn’t WOW me. And I have no desire to finish it at 77%...
It’s not the book, guys. There’s nothing wrong with the book. It’s ME.
I’m sorry it had to be this way. At the beginning, it was magic. A severely dyslexic cam boy with issues that rival the Eiffel Tower? Sign me up and take my money! A sweet daddy who sees something in him besides his mountains of walls? My bread and butter.
I guess what didn’t work for me here was Jackson. Oh my god, it pains me to say that. It’s not ALL Jackson. It’s also Day’s immaturity, which I totally understand considering what he’s went through.
I had really high hopes for Jackson. And while he’s sweet, caring and sexy, I wasn’t feeling that connection i is usually do with a Daddy.
The “punishment” scene was lacklustre. This didn’t even come close to Intoxicating or Captivating. While it was hot, it seemed superficial...after one day, Jackson knows Day is the one for him. Now, y’all know I hate insta-love. While this didn’t feel like the regular insta love, it was what it was: Jackson not questioning for a second that he’s in love with Day without really knowing him.
And that’s fine for some people! All the more to ya. For me, this troupe fell short.
I really did enjoy their scenes online together. And allll the lingerie. I don’t know, guys. It just didn’t give me that feeling in the centre of my belly.
I might go back and finish this, but I might not. I’m at the point where I don’t care enough to know what happens. I mean yeah, it’s probably gonna be a HEA because it’s Onley James. But do I have a desire to read it? Meh.
Fun! I actually took a break from reading this series last year, but have SO enjoyed Onley’s “Necessary Evils” series that I came back to finish this. And I really enjoyed it!
Jackson is the boss at Elite Protection Services, who we know from all the previous books in the series. Dedicated to his business, self-contained & work-driven. Day comes into his life as a client, having witnessed a murder while performing as a cam boy. Day is emotionally closed-off due to a succession of adults failing him his whole life (which we did see on-page emotional abuse of a child so heed that trigger warning). He has a significant learning disability that has hugely impacted his life, and is written well about, but he has compensated by developing a heap is snark.
Jackson quickly falls for Day. Like super-quickly. Interestingly, it seems too fast. However, if you’ve read the Necessary Evils series, it’s no faster than those guys fall in love. It seems that psychopaths falling in love too fast is easier to believe, in line with their obsessiveness. Huh. Anyway, it didn’t stop me enjoying this.
There is a big dose of dramatic angst in this. A killer. An on-page physical assault. More serious angst than I’m used to from Onley, but it was necessary to make the plot realistic.
Anyway, another entertaining read from one of my fave authors 💗💗
Gah... I hate writing a bad review. And I’m really sorry but I almost DNF this towards the end. Because my goodness, the specifics of the story don’t make sense. Also, I do know love at first sight is a thing but it was NOT executed well here. I mean, there was no indication of that at all. It wasn’t even lust at first sight.
Jackson was kinda indifferent towards Day when he first saw him. And then 24 hours later he’s like “I knew it the moment I saw him”. I’m paraphrasing. I don’t actually remember the exact words. It just wasn’t convincing to me.
Seriously, I have rated every story from her 5 stars and there are a couple I would rate 6 if I could!
Jackson agrees to watch over Day when Day witnesses a murder while filming a camboy session one night. The attraction between the two is instant - I did get the feeling of insta-love in this one, more so than the previous stories in the series. But the heightened emotions and intensity between the two made it work and I just loved them.
I have been waiting for Jackson's story since this series began - I couldn't wait to see who would be the man, or boy, worthy of his love. And Day is just the perfect match for him.
I'd definitely recommend reading this series in order since all of the couples from the previous books make appearances in this one. I love the sense of family, how they're taking care of each other, and I love getting to see the other couples.
You fall in love with Day and Jackson right at the beginning. Perfect hurt/comfort story. Overcoming your fears and finding the love of your life.
It was amazing to finally get Jackson’s story. He’s just who you think he will be. Day and him clicked from the jump. I liked that. Their scenes were intense and emotional. You can feel their connection grow and change to love.
We get peaks of past characters in the series which I really enjoyed.
The HEA is so very perfect too! Highly recommend this book and series!
This one definitely makes up for the disaster that was Exasperating. Dayton and Jackson were perfect together, and I love me some good hurt/comfort.
Nicely paced, although slightly insta-lust, action-filled and intriguing. The stalker trope was predictable, but still pretty entertaining.
CW and tropes(spoilers): - abusive past - Camboy MC vs bodyguard - Dyslexic MC - Virgin MC - Lingerie - Daddy kink - Size difference - Strict top/bottom roles
Things move super quickly between them and I just didn't really buy the intensity of feeling or really care about them. I really never found Day to be a particularly likable character, and his "self-destructive" behavior, while perhaps understandable, was way out of line. There comes a point where it doesn't matter the excuse, you don't just get to be an asshole and shit all over people because you've got trauma. The whole plot was OTT, as with this whole series, but with Day being annoying and Jackson being kind of bland, I just didn't care.
4.5/5. This series is so good. And what an ending with Infuriating!! My favorite yet? I think so. I am OBSESSED with Dayton. He is everything I love in a character: confident, but it's all a front, fiery and fierce, secretly sweet, and a sad boy with a sad past. And Jackson is the best compliment to all of that with his calm demeanor. I just love these two together. I enjoyed Day's backstory and his literacy struggles. My heart broke for him over and over again. And what a fun storyline trying to find Dayton's stalker! I loved Jackson's cat and family as well. And, as usual, Wyatt and Charlie. And the entire crew, really. It was great to see them all. I couldn't put down this book. 3/5 spice levels.
Notes: age gap, daddy, hurt/comfort, sex work (camming), stalker, past abuse, parental trauma, body guard/client, lingerie
This is probably one of my favorites, if not my favorite, in this series. I adored Jackson and Dayton together.
Dayton has had an enormously tough life. He has severe dyslexia, and he was raised for a good portion of his life by his abusive, addict grandmother who would call him stupid because he couldn't read, and actually hit him and such.
He had one true friend, Sarah, who had CF. When he was 14, he ran away to LA, but he was 14 and naive and too young and he was approached by a gross, horrible man named Carl who let him stay in this horrible room at this shitty motel he owned for free if he gave him blow jobs. Yeah. Disgusting.
Sarah came eventually to LA as well, but she died and Dayton was left on his own again. Since he was about 16, 17 or so he's been camming to make ends meet, as he feels that he has no skills for a regular job because he can't read.
During one of his camming sessions with a client, he witnesses said client's murder and is brought to Elite for protection as the murderer might come after him. Jackson takes on the protecting of Day.
Their connection, while a little fast at first, was done well and I felt it between them. Day was prickly and had walls the size of the great wall, because he'd been through so much horrible shit, but he couldn't deny his attraction or growing feelings for Jackson as time went on.
Jackson himself felt that pretty much not that long after meeting Day that he had found the one. But he is also a pretty patient, calm man and knew he could wait, because saying something like "I think you're the one" after only a few days of knowing each other would definitely send the scared Day running.
And when Jackson agrees to be on one of Day's cam shows - with a mask on - Day gets a message from one of his subscribers calling him a whore. And when Jackson is on another video, he gets something to the same affect from that same user, and it becomes pretty clear soon after that the killer wasn't after Day's client, but Day himself. The person is obsessed with Day.
I liked that this book actually had a real threat to it. Not that I wanted Day hurt or anything, but I felt like the bodyguard aspect of these books in the previous three was barely in it? It didn't bother me much because I care more about the romance, the relationship, than if someone is truly needing to be bodyguarded, but I still felt, at the back of my mind, that these books should not be called the "elite protect services" if it wasn't even really about bodyguards protecting people. With the first two it especially felt like they didn't need it, although Robby's for a time felt somewhat real, like he truly needed one.
But Day definitely needed one most of all. He had an obsessive murdering stalker after him, and it definitely comes into play near the climax of the book. It's just that this finale one in the series felt like the first one when someone was truly in danger and needed that bodyguard.
The romance was superb as well, and I loved that with as broken as Day was, as tough as a life he lived, he got to have his HEA with Jackson, who was the first person since Sarah to show that he cared about Day and that nothing would make him leave Day. I also liked how much healing Day got to have by the end, but that it showed that he was still a work in progress. It felt real, that these two could have their happiness, but still have problems and work through them.
I just enjoyed this overall, so much. Highly recommend. Two big thumbs up from me!
Ahhhhh I loved this one! I think I may have liked this book more than book 2 (Shep/Elijah)? Or maybe I like Jackson/Day better? I don’t know but there was something so wonderful about them, I couldn’t put this one down.
Jackson is the owner of Elite Protection Services. He cameod in book 1 but we haven’t really seen him since then. The ex-partner (cop) of his dad comes to him for a favor: to protect the young man who witnessed a powerful District Attorney get murdered… virtually. Because the young man in question is a cam boy.
Dayton aka Day is… so complex. So hurt. So fragile. So sensitive. He has a big “keep away” sign plastered to his forehead and does his best to lash out first to protect himself. He grew up in an abusive home and has dyslexia and another disability that prevented him from learning to read, but he’s so smart and learned how to adapt to survive and be successful.
The reason I gravitate towards psycho romances (which this is not) is because I love the “I choose you, you are mine thing” (in books). And while neither Jackson or Day were diagnosed psychopath/sociopaths, Jackson knows basically immediately after meeting Day that he wants him. He says his mother felt the same thing for his father, and he knows he’ll do anything to have Day and keep him safe. He knows how fragile and scared Day is, and that a proclamation like this would scare him away, so he goes (emotionally) slow.
This series is basically older buff bodyguard protects fragile young man and takes care of him and makes everything better. But like… I’m totally good with that trope. I love that trope. I eat that shit up. Give me 10 more.
CW: child abuse, cystic fibrosis (not MCs), death of a friend, child molestation, sex work, murder/violence, stalking, mention of suicide (not MCs)
It started picking up about the half way in, I put it down twice, didn't mean to finish it, it wasn't engaging in the first half or so. I was afraid it'll turn out like a bad copy of Linc and Wyatt's book.
Dayton is really not like other guys here, especially not like Wyatt; he's younger, feisty, very emotional. He's looking for a daddy, but not in the way Wyatt is. It's a completely different dynamic.
Jackson is actually a very nice, simple, romantic guy. There's insta-love here, which I don't like, it's really fast and too soon, but I think the story that evolved between them made up for it in the end.
The second half of the book has the same depth, ideas and writing as the first two books had. I can't rate it more, though, even though I kinda liked Dayton and Jackson in the end.
I really liked them taking their time of almost 2 years before talking about marriage.
I didn't like the fact that Dayton was so young, he was too young in my opinion, add 5-7 years and the story is believable.
The epilogue ends with them planning on tying the knot the next day and we didn't get an invite.
SO, I guess I'm looking forward to Charlie's book (MMF) and hopefully we'll hear more from them there. I didn't give Charlie much due credit in my other reviews in this series, but Charlie is an amazing character, has been from the start. She's fierce and I can't wait to read her story.
5 stars… I almost rated this 4 (which feels like a sin when it comes to my fav Onley James) but this one was really rough on me for some reason. Every MC in this series has had a lot of triggering, traumatic, and down right awful things in their past. It’s kind of Onley jam, which I really do love, but this one felt extra… sad? Idk. It made me so sad for a majority of this book. It felt like it defined Day in almost every aspect of his life between his learning disability, Sarah, and his past abuse. And then after the conflict with the guy…. It just seemed like idk. The fact he was still panicking and pulling away from Jackson and not happy months later just felt so raw and real.
So this book wasn’t bad, honestly it was just so real and scary that it made my heart hurt. The epilogue made them seem really happy and thank god they deserve it, but corn this was a rolled costed.
3/5 on spice. 3/5 on kink. 5/5 on tears. Check triggers and be overall warned that this one was very emotional and rougher than most their books IMO.
Read for a group challenge week 1. This one wasn't for me, it became a skim read pretty quickly. Day wasn't a likeable character and Jackson felt like leftovers instead of the boss ending he deserved, his family the only thing he had to show, same as Shep. The rest of the team felt benched except for Webster dealing with attitude. The new buddy for Wyatt and Charlie didn't have the same attachment as Robby and felt more he needs a friend I'll owe you. The lack of self preservation bugged me and again the third act screw up, then ending up hurt. The agency sucks at protecting their loved ones. Jackson's gift of the foundation felt like a rehash of Calder's set up. I did like the summary of what they'd been through therapy wise and stuff, but it did feel like the import stuff got glossed over. I was hoping for more from Jackson's story.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Omg this was so good! From the very beginning Jackson and Day’s chemistry was off the charts. I loved their relationship and how Jackson slowly got through Day’s walls around his heart. It was tough earned but they were so cute together. I also loved Day getting pulled into Wyatt and Charlie’s friend group. He deserves all the nice things in the world even if he doesn’t believe he does!!
This was an ok book. I've always liked Jackson and was curious about his book. He didn't disappoint. It's Day where the disappointment comes from. I'm getting tired of characters that have issues and insecurities the whole freaking book.
I don't mind issues. Hell, we all have them. But I don't want to read about them for 300+ pages with no reprieve from them. I need them to buck up and get stronger.
I also had an idea who the suspect was going to be. I was right. There weren't many options to choose from, since Day didn't have friends and didn't really talk to anyone.
It wasn't a bad book. Hopefully, the last one will be stellar!
