Meet the Drunks: The Misadventures of a Drunk in Paradise: Book 5
Is it just me? Or are all relationships complicated? I feel a little bit like it might just be me. Because I seem to be the common denominator in every one of my fucked-up relationships. The only relationship I have that’s not fucked up is with my octogenarian sidekick, Al. Although even his loyalty has come into question a time or two—like when he tried to turn in his two-weeks' notice and I was forced to remind him that he can’t quit a job he doesn’t have. And even if he could, then he wouldn’t get to hang out with me anymore. Anyway, at the top of this complicated relationship list, you’ll find my parents. They practically showed up out of the blue, cockblocking straight outta the airport gate and continued complicating my life from the moment they laid eyes on the Seacoast Majestic Resort, where I live and am head of resort security. Next on the list—and most certainly the fuckiest fucked-up relationship I have, is with a certain British Satan reincarnate that goes by the name of Erika Wild. She’s the activities director at my resort but has serious delusions of grandeur. And while I could continue down the complicated relationship list—I won’t, because that’s for me to know, and you to read about and quite honestly, the meat and potatoes of this story. So if you’re ready for another round of Caribbean flavored action and adventure, then you’ve come to the right guy. Meet the Drunks is the fifth book in my story. As always, rated R for colorful language, crude humor, sexual innuendos, and the occasional non-PC remark. Rated A+ for entertainment value. **Oh, and one more thing. While I’m not one of those people who’ll tell you what to do with your life or anything, I will say, if you haven’t read Drunk on a Plane, Drunk on a Boat, Drunk Driving, or Drunk on the Job, you might wanna start there. You’d find this story a lot more entertaining if you did. That said, this story can stand on its own two feet if required to do so.

The latest instalment of the adventures of Danny Drunk sees him continuing to be a fool unto himself and getting into the usual scrapes. This time, a package containing illegal drugs washes up on the private beach of the resort where Drunk works. His investigation is complicated when his parents arrive on the island, completely unannounced, much to Danny’s horror.
I can see why he was horrified, as his mother is an absolute nightmare. Obviously she is supposed to be annoying but I actually found her so annoying it made me reluctant to pick up the book because I didn’t want to spend time with the character.
Mrs. Drunk aside, I enjoyed this one a great deal. I’m just hoping the nightmarish mater is absent from the next book... shudder...
My next book: Moominpappa at Sea

That’s it.
Nope, I’m done. Over and out. I KNEW this would happen. With the exception of a few good authors, ongoing series always turn out to be a waste of time. This is no exception. All characters, with the exception of Al, are beyond annoying at this point. Drunk is pathetic in all areas of life. His mother? Let’s just say she’s at least fifty percent the reason I can’t go on. I could ignore the ridiculous plot lines as long as it was fun and entertaining. Once I realized it had run its course of believability and entertainment, the obvious glares of error became too numerous to ignore or tolerate.

I quit
I loved the first four books in this series. This one? I found myself just getting mad that most of the characters were rude, boorish and just nasty. The smelly beach bum, the nagging, intrusive mother and the horrible activities director, all just set me off. I made it a quarter of the way through the book then stopped to write this review. Not sure if I'll bother trying to read #6.

I have read all of the Drunk books. This is the worst. Drunk's mother drove me crazy. Was not funny just irritating. The girl next door, Ericka was not funny either. If mitchell writes anymore Drunk books, leave the mother out.

Excellent!!!
This title had me laughing out loud and it was such an entertaining installment in the Drunk series! I totally look forward to each title in this series and have read them all so far. Sad thing is, I actually count down to the release of each one of these, then get it, and read it in record time cause I can't put them down which makes it feel like it's over too quick. I highly recommend this series and hope it gets a nice following. This author has done such a great job.

The Drunk series is fun and adventurous! I laughed all the way through this book! The relationship between Al and Drunk is the best!!

Laugh out loud funny
I would compare this book to Janet Evanovich level of funny/entertaining. I highly recommend these books for a quick, fun beach read.

Fun with adventure
Read all the books and have enjoyed the fast thinking Drunk. The characters on the islAnd add so much to the stories especially AL Drunk's elderly side kick.

So-So till the end.
The first 4 Drunk books had me reading as fast as could, to get the goods. My curiosity was peaked and the laughs were intense. This one was a very slow and painful start for me. If angst was what Zane Mitchell wanted me to feel, he nailed it. I was frequently putting this story down due to the irritation the terminal friction between his mother as well as Erica Wild’s characteristic’s made me feel. I don’t allow that kind of inconsiderate drama in my real life and I sure as heck don’t want to wallow in a story full of it. I was finding it harder and harder to see Danny’s previously growing character that had developed in the first 4 books, as incapable of standing up and speaking up for himself, he was constantly a whimpering doormat. The story finally took a turn around 65% into it and was much easier to stay interested in finishing. It all worked out in the end, but as I said, for me, the anxiety early on was just too irritating to be entertaining.

Mom's mouth = duct tape
Okay. I have to say it. I could NOT stand Drunk's mother. From beginning to end I hated this character. Every time she spoke or her actions it made me cringe. That said....when a book makes you feel any kind of emotion, it is doing what the author is getting across....making a story memorable.
Al is that way. He stands out. He is the perfect sidekick. His bald head with a tuff of hair to keep his ears warm. How can you not fall in love with that old man?
Enjoyed the book and the series. Definitely recommend.

I enjoyed the series up until this one. Only could get half way through and had to stop. Sad, as I was hoping for another fun read, but this isn't one. I hope he gets his mojo back on the next one.

Meet the Drunks is the fifth installment in a series that features a generally enjoyable cast of characters on a Caribbean island primarily situated at an all-inclusive resort. Danny Drunk is a wise cracking head of security with a genuinely good heart solving mysteries on the island. Drunk’s parents join the fun in this episode. This series has been a good light addition to the Kindle Unlimited deal. This book was a little longer than I would have preferred. The main bones of the story are good and coupled with the characters this was a 3.5 star read.

Great humour
I've read the whole Series.Gotta say I am constantly laughing out loud.Zayn has the ability To make you Laugh to you cry. I was only 2 pages in when I was rolling on the floor. If you wanna book to read that will take you out of your mind during covid Catastrophe this is the book that you want to get . try the whole series I could not stop laughing I'm waiting and patiently for the next in the series thank Zane great job.No pressure or anything zain but hurry up

This is my first review after reading all 5 books. Should not have taken me so long. All of the books comprise an entertaining and at times hilarious ongoing story about an ensemble cast of characters who are larger than life and people you'd love to know in real life. If you like humor, suspense and a hero whom you can't decide to hug or smack upside the head you will love the Drunk books. They are pure enjoyment.

The author revels in torturing his poor main character with emotional crises of his own making, exacerbated by narcissists and frustrated cohorts.
Zack Mitchell also has an interesting and casual view of homicide, defined as “death at the hands of another” which I find disquieting. Also, Drunk’s discharging of a firearm is very deliberate and unfettered by conscience!
Is it a spoiler to say that at least Drunk’s parents are fine?

Another great installment of the Drunk in Paradise series. We get to meet Drunk's parents this time...and the author 'nails' the description of a typical midwest couple. There are several unexpected twists and turns in the book, with an even more unexpected final chapter which sets us up I expect for the next installment. There is a higher level of maturity in this book than any of the previous books, and I feel that the author is finding his place in the writing world.

Strong female characters, a resourceful mother, great handbag. Funny, fast paced,. Colourful language. 4* Audible.

Great read
I have read all of these books. They are fun! I enjoy them very much because the characters are well described and and pretty real. Not easy to be funny, but these books manage very well. I hope for more in the series and I wish good health and long life to Al and Eve.

Stressful Drunk
This is a great example of a stressful family. Drunk may love his parents but the way they put him down, downplay his accomplishments and generally interfere in his life make things highly stressful for him. Not to mention how his mother instigates things to make matters worse.

Another great book in this series. Dan Drunk's family is amazing and his Mother is a bit overbearing to say the least. Glad to see Danny and Frankie together again. Had me worried there for a while.
Hopefully there will be a wedding as we travel along in this superb continuous story. Aready reading book 6. Can hardy wait for more !

All in the family!!
This is a good and fun story, liked it a lot but It seemed like Archie and Edith bickering over every discussion. Shirley was a true "dingbat". I loved the previous stories but this was a bit annoying while still being a fun read. Wild was definitely wild and must have been from a mushroom nightmare.
Looking forward to the next story. Keep 'em coming!!

Can’t stop reading
I’ve read all five and found them all very entertaining. The list of characters is long but all play a pivotal role in the stories. All of the plots have interesting turns and unexpected discoveries. Hope Book 6 is written and the series continues.

I love the Drunks!
I fell in love with this series when I picked up Drunk on a Plane because, well, that title sucked me in. I've been hooked ever since. I really look forward to the next book in the series, whenever that may be. All I can say is it won't be soon enough for me!

I've read them all so far and the series makes for a quick, fun, reading experience. While some of the situations are a bit far fetched, they still have the feeling of island life. Al is my favorite character and I hope he survives into the next book.

This is quickly becoming my new favorite "smile for hours" series. Drunk can't help complicating everything in his life. And, as good as he is at it, his MOTHER may be better at it! A really fun read.
