When a body turns up on a high-speed train passing through France, Germany and Italy—clearly the work of a serial killer—authorities wonder: whose jurisdiction is it?
FBI Special Agent Adele Sharp—triple agent of the U.S., France and Germany—is called in as the only one capable of maneuvering the layers of authority and of tapping her brilliant mind to stop the killer.
But as more victims turn up—on other trains, in other countries—the case grows increasingly complex. Can this all be the work of one serial killer?
And if so, where will he strike next?
An action-packed mystery series of international intrigue and riveting suspense, LEFT TO LAPSE will have you turning pages late into the night.

I enjoyed the mystery of the train deaths immensely. However this book is part of a series and there is a grim back story that again manifested itself as an aside during this straight forward international police procedural novel and I really did not enjoy that, and it was made worse as the last page leaves the back story on a cliff-hanger presumably for people to keep on reading the series. I will probably read some more stories as I am French and liked the idea of the French force working with other agencies but the grim back story is too grue3some for my reading. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I enjoyed the book and the characters in particular the female lead but did wonder why the French male lead was called John and not Jean..........................
This is book 7 in the Adele Sharp Mystery series and I would like to point out that I haven’t read any of the other books, so although you can read it as a stand-alone I did feel that a part of the book would have been enjoyable if I’d read the rest of the series.
While I did enjoy the mystery of the international train murders, I was drawn more to the secondary story regarding the murderer of Adele’s mother. That part was gritty and straight up my alley. But not having read the previous books i felt I had stepped halfway into a film.
That being said it was a fast-paced international mystery with great characters.
I have another book by this author, waiting to be read. Once Gone! Can’t wait to read it now!

This is book 7 of a series and I hadn't read any of the previous books in the series. Now I have to go back and read them all from the beginning! I bought into the main characters and liked the idea of the female FBI agent. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Left to Lapse is An Adele Sharp Mystery Book 7. WOW, Blake Pierce has written one of the best thrillers I have ever read. Book 6 flows perfectly into book 7. The story begins with Adele and John working to find a serial killer on a train while “the painter”, Adele mother’s killer, is killing again and looking for Adele. I was reading as fast as possible to see what happened next. The conclusion of the serial train killer was perfect and surprising. The end of the book is with the latest murder “the painter” committed. He is looking for Adele and she is ready for the hunt. Left to Lapse is everything I enjoy in a thriller. I can’t wait to read book 8. I received an arc for my free for my honest volunteer review.
Blake Pierce has managed to hold my attention to Adele Sharp until now, with a captivating storyline laden with intrigue, mystery and thrill.
In this instalment, the story is about a who I call 'A Travelling Killer'. When a body turns up on a high-speed train passing through France, Germany and Italy—clearly the work of a serial killer—authorities wonder: whose jurisdiction is it? However, with the genius of Blake Pierce, who, in his writer's creative mind created FBI Special Agent Adele Sharp—a triple agent of the U.S., France and Germany, capable of manoeuvring the layers of authority and of tapping her brilliant mind to stop the killer - the hunt for the killer begins. But as more victims turn up—on other trains, in other countries—the case grows increasingly complex.
It is as intriguing and thrilling as it promises, a listen to keep you glued to the audio app/an unputdownable page-turner.
Book 7 in the series featuring Adele Sharp, an FBI agent who also has French & German citizenship, and this time she needs to find the person behind 2 possible murders on trains. She is still reeling from the loss of her mother, and the fact that the murderer had been spotted but not captured.
As always this is well written and plotted, nicely paced, with well rounded characters. We get to know more about them during each book, which is how it should be. It’s amazing how this author can write so prolifically yet still keep up such a high standard of intrigue and suspense., with such a depth of knowledge about the places and themes that he writes about. While Adele Sharp isn’t my favourite character, it’s still a very good read.

As usual Blake Pierce has delivered a good read. I started reading Left to Lapse last evening and finished it in today’s wee hours. I haven’t read all the books in this series yet, but it was relatively easy to pick up the story even though I had missed some episodes.
While there is an element of “coziness” in the series that makes it a pleasant respite from more serious reads, the crimes are serious. There is less gore than some mysteries. There may be lots that the characters are accomplishing, but the solution comes more quickly. Sometimes that is just what I am looking forward to in a book. That said, there is also an ongoing situation from one book to the next. This time, the cliffhanger felt more frustrating, hence only four stars.

Fast moving mystery and can be a quick read. Although part of a series it is easily read as a stand alone. I have read a couple of the series books but did not feel I was lost . Characters are realistic and their conversations flow. Descriptions of the setting and the action puts you in the picture. It has an ending but it will lead you to be waiting and want to read the next adventure. Nice read.
I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy and was under no obligation to provide a review. The opinions expressed are my own. Many thanks to the author, publisher and Book Sirens for allowing me to read this book.
Well written storyline with lots of action and a well plotted main mystery with a side conundrum as well. This book brings together Adele Sharp with both men she has partnered on cases with, John Henri and Christopher Leoni. The book showcases the differences in style both professional and personal of both men.
As they race to stop a serial killer aboard a train, Adele is torn regarding her work vs her personal need to stop two different killers.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Oh my, what a cliffhanger. I already have the next one poised and ready to read. Poor Adele can't seem to get a break. She takes a bad guy down with John and Christopher this time only to have to deal with her own personal stalker.
The pace in this Book 7 of the series is quick and sucks you right in. We learn more about "The Painter" and see just how crazy he/she is. I have a bad feeling about the cafeteria lady and can only imagine what will happen with the next "canvases" in Book 8.
Another good mystery by Blake Pierce. Adele is to suffer another blow in her personal life and also she becomes aware of her partner´s feelings, what she yet has to discover is the awful happenings that entangles hers and agent Renee´s lives. Packed with action this book is easy to read and very entertaining! A good addition to the series!

Wow. This was a step up from what pierce usually writes and I didn't even know that was possible! Honestly this book was packed with action and mystery and left me guessing yet again til the end. There was an added cliffhanger of Shades love life and the story unfolded farther with the killer of her mother. Amazing. You could never go wrong with any of this author's books! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.

Another thriller with Adele Sharp working on a multi country mystery. Many twists and unexpected events in this murder mystery. Enjoyed the emotional friction with her partners. The ending was both great and devastating. It left me wanting more!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions in this review are my own. Thanks to BookSirens for allowing me to read this book.
This is an exciting addition to the Adele Sharp series. It’s a thrilling page turner with an intriguing plot. It’s an action packed mystery with twists all the way through. The surprise ending leads into the next book. I think Adele is a very interesting character. I received a complimentary copy of this book via BookSirens and this is my honest review
This book didn’t excite me as much as others from Pierce. I’m not sure if the general setting was the turnoff or the characters seeming more subdued, but it lacked the wow factors I enjoyed from previous novels.
Adele and her international partners hunt a serial killer on a train. The reader is taken on the train in the hunt of which train and when to stop the killer. I loved the struggle and daring sequence of events to get onto the train.
I am never disappointed with one of Blake’s books and this is no exception. I love the style of writing that just keeps we turning pages and eager to get to the end. Lots of twists and turns. Thanks to BookSirens for the privilege to read and review this book.
I usually really love this series about Adele Sharp. This one wasn’t my favorite. I didn’t find the mystery itself to be too interesting. Plus, the ongoing backstory is getting to be a bit much. I wish she would discover who killed her mother already. These things can only go on so long.
Admittedly I listened to the Audio. I’ve listened to the entire series and the narrator change was a huge mistake. This one goes too fast and just isn’t our original voice.
