By the end, the story just fell into the same tropes of a high school manga of the 90s. At times it worked for the best and at times it felt like the plot was too old school for the current society.
In the end it was a good enough story just to pass time on.

A listless, by-the-numbers ending to a romance series that started fine but quickly lost most of its energy as the creator let it devolve into a series of high school tropes despite having a twentysomething working professional for a protagonist. Here we're given Christmas and Halloween tales and a tearful higher education parting before a time jump to a suspense-free happily ever after.

I'd say this story was just okay overall. Neither of the characters showed much growth or change. The vol's felt very repetitive and basically used the same themes/situations. I wanted sweeter/swoon worthy moments and they never came. I'd recommend this series just know it is very mid.

Loved the conclusion. Overall a solid josei / shojo series loved that this was a more mature series. Loved the sunshine and grumpy romance between our characters.

It has been fun, but we've finally arrived at the end of Maki Enjoji's finale volume of An Incurable Case of Love. I'm going to start with a review of this specific volume and then, I will go into my overall feelings towards this series.
Nanase and Kairi are on borrowed time as it will soon be time for him to leave to study abroad. However, just because they have made plans does not mean for a second there won't be a few (a lot of) surprises along the way.
I did, as most of this series, think this was a really cute volume. I liked how I felt Nanase definitely stood up for herself and what she wanted a bit more. Kairi despite his typical demeanor is really trying to make this experience easier for him and Nanase by trying to be less serious give her as many happy memories as possible. I did like their interactions with each other as well as them talking more seriously about their future. I thought the way they went about it was funny and I was entertained; however, It was just a lot because I felt like the pacing was a little off and a lot was happening it felt a little rushed. I would say I'd give this volume 3/3.5 stars.

Now a series overall, I would say I was entertained. However, towards the end of the series, I feel like the pacing was a little all over the place at times which could just be due to the number of volumes but I feel the ending fell a little flat for me. I would still recommend this series for fans of both the mangaka and those wanting to get into Josei/Romance manga.

This was a cute volume and a befitting end. While I think the series between volume 6 and this volume felt a bit rushed, I do think the ending did our favorite couple justice. I still would've taken one more volume. Watching Nanase and Kairi's journey has been an absolute joy. And while I don't think I liked this series as much as happy marriage, it is the series that introduced me to Maki Enjoji and will always have a special place on my shelves. Enjoji developed the characters in a gradual but believable way. She presents situations that allow the reader to steadily see Nanase's growth and Kairi soften and open his heart more. I cannot wait to read more from this mangaka in the future.

Cute final volume. Of course there was a happy ending for our couple. I didn’t expect anything less from Maki Enjoji. I only wish that we had seen some of the time they spent apart instead of having a time skip. It would’ve made their reunion more impactful.

Anyway, this series overall was a nice light read. It’s nice if you’re in the mood for a romance but don’t want to read a long series. 4/5 stars from me!

I don’t really know how I feel about this last volume. I mean, I’m glad that Sakura got her happy ending with Tendo. However, it just felt like a happy for now instead of an actual ending. We didn’t really get to see much of their life after marriage or even the other ceremony they were talking about.

While it it had some cute moments, it was just okay overall.

I loved this series from the beginning, I hate that it's only 7 volumes and that this wraps up the whole story.

We get a definite ending that is both sweet and bitter. Nanase and Kairi are perfect and I honestly wish that we would get more volumes but it's a good ending.

The age gap though...I didn't realize that. 😱😅 Nanase being 17 and Kairi being 26. At first. Now he's 37 and she's 27/28. So ten year difference, not bad considering I know a couple in real life that are 18 years apart. Love knows no age boundaries.

I'm hoping the author will do another series about them eventually with their kids and during the covid pandemic and how it's from their perspective as doctor and nurse.

Mon avis :

Review: About the drawings, we clearly notice at first sight the style of Maki Enjōji, which I really love. One of the biggest flaws of the plot is that we don’t really understand the timeline. I feel like the story happens in a two-year span. On a good side: as we go along, the readers witness a relationship between adults who experience joy, doubts, etc. But I still feel disappointed: the last 2 volumes are full of fillers. And it’s too bad, because I really loved the first 5 volumes. In other words, it’s like the last couple volumes were kind of a bonus story but we were still “forced” to read them to know the ending. Otherwise I have nothing bad to say about the plot.

Review for complete series

Nanase is about to start her career as a nurse under Dr Tendo who happens to be the reason she became a nurse in the first place. Five years prior, the two met while trying to save a stranger after which Nanase fell in love with the doctor. Now, not only does Dr Tendo not remember her, but he is also remorselessly demanding and the reason for the nurse shortage in their department. Nanase however refuses to be bullied out and earns the title of The Valliant one for trying to stand up to the grouchy doctor.

While I don't like it quite as much as Happy Marriage?!, this combines all things I like about Enjouji Maki. Nanase and Dr Tendo are a bickering couple that is just super fun to read about. I wouldn't call a particularly deep story but it's just plain and simple fun. While An Incurable Case of Love does try to add a bit of seriousness by going into stories of loved ones lost through illness, I didn't feel like those elements added much to the story.

Although this is largely a RomCom, I actually really enjoyed the hospital setting and how it was handled. It felt like a lively area where we also got to know some of the main characters' colleagues - while they were never fleshed out, it did create a sense of reading about a workplace community. I thought the nickname Valliant One was endearing and it was fun to see how all the staff kept tabs on the developing relationship.

Nanase, or rather the Valliant One, was quite a nice lead character. I liked that she didn't immediately continue liking Dr Tendo just because of his looks but most importantly, I like that she comes to care for her work for her own sake and always strives to better herself. In a way, she did end up choosing her workplace over Dr Tendo. Even though she often doubts herself, I think she makes a strong character in many ways.

Dr Tendo is unapologetically grumpy - he's not a brooding hero with a sad past. He's just the way he is, he knows it and doesn't care what others think of him. Of course, he learns to be more friendly in his own way and Nanase helps him loosen up, but I like that there's no particular reason behind his moods or any story that's supposed to make us feel sorry for him.

I suppose a lack of depth is what keeps me from loving it, but there is otherwise nothing I can fault it with. It's a fun RomCom, an easy read with likeable characters and nice art. I'm definitely hoping this wasn't the last of Enjouji Maki!

Today's manga post is on An Incurable Case of Love, Vol. 7 by Maki Enjōji. It is 200 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has Nanse and Kairi on it. As it is the seventh in the series, you need to have read the first six volumes to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes mature love stories with a medical twist. There is no language, no sex, and no violence in this volume. The story is told from third person close of characters. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the manga- Nanase became a nurse to chase after Dr. Kairi Tendo. Before Kairi travels abroad to study, the two decide to do the things that lovers do. Their love deepens during their limited time together, but a problem arises concerning Kairi’s succession in his family’s business. What will happen to their romance?

Review- Kairi has decided that he is going to study in America for three years. Nanase decides that she is going to support him and study to become a better nurse herself in Japan. I like how honest they are with each other from what they want to their plans for the future. This is has been a adult romance with two characters who learn and grown over the course of the series. The roamnce in the story was a vehicle for the character growth, as they grew together both Nanase and Kairi were forced to face themselves and their faults. This was a very good series and I would like to read from Maki Enjōji.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.
