My plan for the summer was to win a cosplay contest… But I wound up being abducted by aliens instead.

Who knew dressing up as a space fairy at a summer rave would end up with me in a prison? Now I am trapped with three gorgeous males who seem to be wearing the same costume as I am—only I'm pretty sure they aren’t. Things about them aren't adding up…

Their eyes appear to be glowing whenever they watch me… Their wings look too real to be fake… And the most crazy thing of all is that the language barrier doesn't create any boundaries between us when it comes to touching…When the truth finally comes out that I am not dreaming, my life takes off out of this world…

Now, I am depending on three alien males for a chance at survival… And the only thing that their survival depends Me!

StarPyre is a fast-burn RH alien abduction standalone romance filled with steamy scenes, fun misunderstandings and an HEA!

Hmm 😒no...just no

The female h is beyond stupid, abusive, and sex starved. All she does is kick and hit people in childish fits, and then she screws them. If that isn't abuse, I don't know what is. There is nothing appealing about that. The plot is intriguing, but the follow through is pure smut with no substance.

What is their excuse for all the random sex? Their captors want them to impregnate the female so that they can eat the baby....

So if course everyone is like, "well, let's hop to it! We gotta give them what they want.."

So yea, it's just messed up. I don't like it and I don't recommend it.

DNF so hard

This was by far the worst story I've read yet and Ive read some doozies.

The F was just a horrible person, not very smart and suddenly becomes a killer at the last minute.

eh. 2 stars, this book was ok 🤷🏻‍♀️

overall, this book wasn’t really anything special. it wasn’t good, but it also wasn’t bad. there wasn’t much storyline or world building, but it was enough to keep me interested (mostly because i just cleared out my tbr and have nothing else to read if i’m honest)

if you have limited reading time, i would suggest you go find a better book. if you’re like me and have nothing else to do because of covid and have read through all other books you’re interested in, sure it gets the job done.

this mostly read like erotica, as there were little meaningful interactions other than sex, and it was a very fast burn.

it is a short book so i wasn’t too surprised that there wasn’t much substance, but it definitely isn’t something i’ll read again or continue if there’s others in the standalone series.

other than that, for the most part the writing was good and there were little obvious errors.

Space Fairy Men. That's all you need to know to pick up this fast standalone. Auro, Luwyn and Celyze are sex on a stick.

StarPyre may begin with all fun and jokes but as you advance it turns into something more psychological, dark and mature. Our heroes are in a constant survival mode, which makes them do what they need in order live another day; even if that means seeing the past of others through their memories and having a lot of sex to please their captors. In the end, I think this story show us the limits a person is willing to break in order to endure a traumatic and dangerous situation. Plus, it has a lot of steamy sex.

One space fairy to beam up, please

Tori was having a decent night. She was dressed up for the space themed costume event. Amidst a mass of gold bikinied Leias and decidedly non regulation Star Trek uniforms, her costume was sure to win for its originality. So what if her best friend was AWOL- probably still primping, and the guy who had come on to her was now playing tonsil hockey with one of the knock off uniforms. Eh. But after winning the award, she's ready to embrace the spotlight. Only, it seems to be pulling her up. What?

Spoilers ahead.
This was intended as a fun summer read and definitely follows that path. An alien kidnapping, due to a misunderstanding of what she is- her costume was a little too believable. Brought up by monstrous aliens and thrown in a cell with real space fairies to breed babies for food was a nightmare. Especially because, jokes on them, she can't have kids. But telling them that would only bring about their death faster, so they have to play it smart. Mild trigger warnings for dub-con. They don't trick her, they don't have some special attribute that allows them to "sway her" or anything like that. The warning is for the fact that she believes she's dreaming and for the situation itself, the whole kidnapping and all. But, her sass, and the guys' reactions make this a zany read. Also, not a huge spoiler, but, Tori, Auto, Celyze, and Luwyn are met again in the Project series, so, it's fun to see where they started before the meet up.

Discovered this little stand alone from the RH newsletter and had to give it a try. A sci-fi human abduction story that turns into a RH romance? Count me as intrigued.

Tori is at a space-themed rave dressed as a space fairy. When she gets abducted for looking like an actual alien, she’s thrown into a cell with three hot real-life space fairy males and their survival depends on how well they get along with each other.

It was an enjoyable read, granted a short one. This is a stand alone, but I didn’t realize how short it would have been! It was 162 pages. I wish this book had been more fleshed out and given more depth, but overall I really liked the story. The plot was unique, the writing was good, and I felt that I enjoyed the characters a lot. I just wish there had been more to it than what we’d been given.

Overall, it was a fun and sexy read for the summer. A good rec for those who are into sci-fi and romantic comedies.

Tori is a cos player and on the night of a big win gets abducted by aliens. Was it a case of mistaken identity? Possibly but once she wakes up on the alien ship hilarity ensues. As a human Tori doesn't quite believe aliens are real so obviously she's locked up with 3 other cos players, of the professional kind due to their awesome costumes. As a fellow con nerd I found this highly entertaining. Once she realizes that maybe there's some truth to not being alone in the universe well...from there the communication and cultural barriers just create the perfect storm for all of them. Trapped by alien spiders (yuck!) they are given an ultimatum and in order to survive they'll have to do the best they can.

All in all it was a great romantic comedy of the sci-fi variety and definitely worth the read. The aliens were sweet and the scenes between them all were hot. Great stand alone!

This was such an interesting stand alone and a fun story with Tori. She is a great FMC and such a fun character. I especially liked Celyze. He was very self-sacrificing and caring. Quite a strong supportive character. The whole story/plot was quite well developed and fun, and quite endearing. I really enjoyed it.

Intergalactic love story

Intergalactic instalove fast burn abduction story. Tori was abducted from a rave after she won a costume contest. Thrown in a cell with others that look like her but she realizes quickly they are real aliens. Hilarity ensues. No, not really. Not really a romcom imo.

This was sexy and intense. I’m glad they worked out their differences. I really enjoyed her kicking butt and becoming more by the end of the story

This was a great book. This was a mix of scifi romance and romantic comedy. The characters Auro, Luwyn and Celyze are lovable in each their own way. The heroine / starpyre Tori is awesome. I definitely recommend this scifi RH.

Fast Paced, Low Angst, Fun Read

Jade Waltz never disappoints. This was a really fun, fast-paced rom com reverse harem. I would recommend this to those looking for a light-hearted, steamy, standalone novel.

There were some bumps along the road, but I'm glad I checked out this novella!

Reverse harems tend to be about competition, and this one avoided that trap almost immediately. I also appreciated that the female MC wasn't just a damsel in distress—which was my biggest worry, since the plot revolves around her being abducted and imprisoned. In fact, she has some great moments of agency beyond the sexy times.

As for the sexy times? *Gives two thumbs up* It's vanilla (as far as kink rating), aside from the number of partners, but that's not a bad thing in my book. Plus, there's actually a plot, so it's not just littered with chapter upon chapter of the same situations over and over.

There were a few more typos than I would've liked (not littered with them though), and the female MC's narrative voice was shaky, particularly during the first half of the book. Also, I can't help but note how the sex initiated the first couple times was abrupt and a bit awkward.

That being said, if you're looking for a quick, steamy read that actually has a plot, I'd still recommend this one!

More erotica versus romance for me

--- SPOILERS ---
This story had a unique and fun idea for an alien standalone - I really like the cosplay then subsequent abduction because she looked like an actual alien! The first, and very early, sexual encounter I could have worked with (sure, it's a dream). But the second, sighs. Oh no! I was scorched with scalding hot shower water and you caught me when I almost fell! Thank you! Let's have sex now! Oh hey you, other alien I thought I had dream sex with but had actual sex with. Let's double team even though I've never done that before! All in less than 24 hours of you being abducted and not being able to communicate. Don't get me wrong, it is well written, but the sexual situations don't make sense other than the fact the author just wanted them to have sex. I like her other works better. So this was a DNF at 60% for me. But if you want a good idea, good writing, and a thin excuse for sexy time then this is for you.

Very cool read

This was not my favorite book by Jade but it's not a bad read. The characters are enjoyable, their interactions are interesting and the storyline- I really liked. I liked that it was a connected piece of the world that resolves around my favorite series by Jade: project adapt.

Things that would've brought my rating down: I felt parts of this book were rushed. Definitely could've fully fleshed out certain scenes. I also felt that it ended kinda abruptly so I'm hoping we see these characters again to touch on their lives.

Overall I thought the story was worth reading. Some parts were more 3.5 than 4 and some were more 4.5 than 4. It's a decent read to add to her collection.

Starpyre is a fast-burn science fiction romance which plays on the classic trope of alien abduction. Both the human Tori and the three 'good' humanoid fairy-like aliens have been abducted and are forced to breed in order to provide a food source for their captors the 'bad' aliens.

Starpyre is a short novel at 148 pages and as a reader you feel like all of the characters are rushing through their actions and decisions. However at heart this book is an captive alien, reverse harem romance and therefore I am unsure if the focus was on heat at the expense of plot. I do recognise that a lot of readers like this style of book and note that it was obviously just not for me.

Starpyre is an alien romance with high levels of heat. It would suit readers who enjoy alien romance, reverse harem, fast burn and those who like and can relate to cosplay.

Omg this was amazing!!! We meet tori who is a girl who loves raves and competing in costume contests. When she’s abducted she meets three unique characters : Auro, Luwyn, and Celyze. We get to learn about them; their looks, culture, and overall situation) . I loved the progression of their relationships, and how Celyze holds out (because he’s never had a relationship so he isn’t sure how to act and interact with her). Overall this fast burn RH alien prison book (wow that was a mouthful lol) was awesome. I will be reading future books from this author :)

This story was ok. It held my attention for the most part. The writing style felt forced & like it was directed at a N/A audience (or a teenager wrote this), though it's content -with the sex & RH, is definitely not N/A. I felt there were some things that just didn't make sense, and I wasn't given a lot of explanations for stuff happening. I really didn't feel a "love" connection between the 4 in this RH, it all felt lust based. It felt overly simplistic plot wise, with not much driving the plot to make it an on the edge of your seat type of reading experience. Not sure I would want to read more from this author at this point.

Decent read!!

This book was a very decent read. Tori is kidnapped by aliens after winning a costume contest. She’s placed in a cell with 3 other aliens to breed. Between the language barrier with the aliens she’s locked up with and the aliens that actually kidnapped her she is resilient. Sexually resilient that is and we learn a little of this before she’s kidnapped. Hey whatever it takes to survive!!!!

I could not finish it, the entire time I felt like I was reading the live account of a spoiled brat. She was constantly judgemental, looked down at everyone else, and had the 'I'm not like other girls' vibe going on. The book reads as very juvenile, because the things the character does are completely out of proportion to her age at 21 or 22.

I would not recommend (unless you want to feel the nostalgia from your early wattpad days).

Superficial. Too fast.
I coudn’t love the FMC because the storyline lacks development between the characters.
The building of trust and complicity is overlook in favor for the physical connexion.
The idea was nice but it’s a common mistake when the publisher work is not there.
It’s not « bad », therefore I gave it a 3 stars (I would of given it 2,4 if possible), but I don’t recommand this book.
I liked the marking idea ^^, a new one in the sea of tatoos and bites marks.

Very steamy story. Shorter story then I usually read. It it was a quick fast paced story. Kind of hope we see more about these characters in the future. Like maybe another story about when they reach their destination. Very well written. Author did great job. Cannot wait to read more of her stories.

I really enjoy jade as an author over all. I do enjoy the concept of this alien abductions and i enjoyed things about learning about different cultures that are not earthly. It is definitely fast burn and someone looking for that will enjoy this. My only feedback felt that how she jumped into the relationship seemed disjointed and the ending was rushed. Other than that i enjoyed it

Finally met the mysterious x from adapt!

Nice to meet xerak from project adapt! Curious to see how the intertwining between the two stories will merge. I had read another review of how ridiculous this book was, but to me, it was just a lighthearted fun story. Not as good as the adapt series, but not bad, either.
