Hunter #5

Stealing Summer

Rate this book
From New York Times and USA Today bestseller Lexi Blake comes a new epic-length story in her Thieves/Hunter world…

A daughter lost

Summer has spent her whole life wondering about the family she left behind. On the night she came into being she only had a few moments with them. In that brief time, she reached out to her father, looking deep into his soul, and gifted him the will to go on. But now she is the one in need. Once a child made of pure magic, she is forced to live as a mortal. Her power caused great harm, and she has sworn never to let it happen again. With her friends beside her, she tries her best to help those she can. If that requires her to do a little thievery, well, she is her mother’s daughter, after all.

Everything changes when a woman falls from the sky and Summer meets the handsome vampire named Marcus Vorenus. Just as her past begins to catch up with her, she might have finally met her future.

A mother discovered

Kelsey Owens went searching for Dev and Marcus but all she found was a trap. She was pulled through a magical painting and thrown smack into the middle of a battle on a foreign plane of existence. Luckily she’s good in a fight. Saving the woman targeted by the horde of brutal soldiers, Kelsey is shocked by her resemblance to her queen. As Kelsey investigates the mystery surrounding Summer Donovan-Quinn, she also hunts for a way back to the husbands and son she just claimed.

A queen exiled

Zoey Donovan-Quinn is not happy. The wizard Myrddin is back, her marriage is troubled, and she is sure those two problems are connected. But nothing is more worrying than Dev’s sudden disappearance. When she and Daniel go looking for him, they are drawn into a world thought lost to the Earth plane. Danger awaits them there, but so does the daughter they thought they would never see again. She hopes they survive their reunion.

Three heroines. One mystery. And an ending that will change the Thieves world forever…

My god. July 14th. It can't come quickly enough. This is one of my favourite series. Maybe my favourite. This will be book #10 I'm reading - book #10!! I usually can't stay the distance with series but here I am. Waiting. That last line in the blurb...*bites freaking nails

Reviewing as I go-

Picking up from the end of Outcast, Gray's prophecy kicks off the book. It seems pretty clear what's behind it if you've read the series, and even though Ms Blake catches you up as best she can, you really do need to have read the entire series to know who's who and what they mean and how awesome they are. However, that doesn't mean I'm not waiting for some twists and turns, some emotional gut-punches, and some stellar action. Well, the action has already started.

Three cheers!!! Three's a charm: Two threesomes - we need a third to even it out. Hmm, I think one is on the horizon. Three people are missing. Three kickarse women have a POV in Stealing Summer. Kicking back and enjoying this so far.

Summer we know as the (magic) daughter of Daniel and Zoey (Wharton) Donovan-Quinn via the Light of Alhorra - Steal the Light. We've been waiting for her to officially be part of this world and meet 'mum and dad'. "Hey, Summer." *Waves. She's swinging a blade and thinking all kinds of Zoey-like protective and violent thoughts on an in between plane, being chased by an army. Oooh, she's a bit of a thief as well, and multiple people, arseholes of course, have an axe to grind with her. A chip off the old block. Mum will be so proud.

A trick and a trap. Kelsey kicked off the Hunter series and is the paranormal's Nex Apparatus. It's the paranormal equivalent of a death machine or bogey(wo)man. Kelsey's in it up to her neck in this book and it's only early days.

Zoey is plotting, thank you Jeebers. A plotting Zoey is my favourite Zoey. She's her brilliant and bright and resilient self yet again. One of my favourite all time characters, I love Zoey's humour and self-awareness, and how she can handle her men. Come on Daniel, you're being a manipulated bonehead. Listen to the dark prophet and always choose "Her." Ah-ha!! We get the whys of this.

Nice world building thus far.

All the old gang's here in bits and pieces between different planes and POV. New characters to get to know as well - the good the bad and the interesting.

Awww, Marcus. I personally know one other reader who will love what's happening (at least thus far) for Marcus in Stealing Summer. 2,000 years of roaming the Earth plane alone has come to this, eternally romantically hopeful Marcus...

In the wash-up, there was lots to like about this book. Lexi Blake brings the entertainment, action, and love to the party once again.

Review:
*This review contains spoilers for previous books in the Thieves and Hunter series, and kinda for this book, but not really if you've read the previous books or the description for this one. I'm not discussing anything you don't already know from the description.*

This was much more like the original Thieves books than the Hunter series has been, and that made me so happy! It even gave me the same sense of comfort I get from rereading Thieves, even though this was my first time reading the book. I didn't love it the way I love those, but I did enjoy it.

This was kind of a transitional book more than it was really a Thieves or Hunter book. It broke the pattern of the series by having Zoey's, Kelsey's, and Summer's POVs. I understand why the author did it this way though. This was, for the most part, about Summer, but there were also some other important things going on and being set up for the rest of the series that required more than just her POV. Some old loose threads were wrapped up, and the story was pushed where it needs to go next.

This author is very good at plotting, especially when it comes to complex, "long game" kinda plots that weave together and are being set up long before the reader realizes. I feel like it's an aspect of this series that gets kind of overlooked in favor of the romance and characters.

I'm a Marcus fangirl, and I've been waiting so long for him to get his happy ending, so I was so happy to see him finally get he love he was promised! (He made an ass of himself at first, but the poor man was just so excited that I couldn't even blame him.) But, on the other hand, because I've waited so long, I would've liked it to go a bit slower, to actually feel the relationship forming between them. It felt rushed and like they didn't actually know each other but fell in love only because they were fated to. Everything fell into place very quickly and neatly with them. I do understand to an extent though---the author needed it to happen in this one book, rather than over multiple books, for reasons.

And Zoey and Danny finally got to meet Summer! It was a really nice family reunion. It was also very cute how Dev immediately became protective of her because he considered her his daughter too. (Which just shows that he really does see Daniel as another father of Lee, Rhys, and Evan, which just makes their whole relationship that much more solid and sweet.)

This actually is a slight spoiler for this book: *SPOILER* *END SPOILER*

I also just loved being back in Zoey's POV and getting to see what her, Daniel, and Dev's relationship is like now.

This book brought back some of that fun interplay between characters too, those scenes where it's a bunch of them arguing and having multiple conversations at once, and it's just funny and fun.

We got to meet a new character, Dean, who's definitely going to be back in future books, and I liked him. He seems like a good person who will fit in well with this lovable group.

Something I couldn't stand though was how the author kept using the words male and female instead of man and woman. It was maddening. At first I thought maybe it was just Summer's way of talking/thinking, or just a fae thing, which, though still annoying, I could've excused. But many other characters spoke that way too. And it sounded very weird and distracting every single time. I don't recall any of the previous books being like that, so I don't know why this one was.

I also didn't love everything about the ending, but that's more of a personal thing than a critique thing. *SPOILER (for this book again)* *END SPOILER* And then there was the ENDING ending. That was a doozy. But it should make the next book even more interesting.

Overall, though I can't say this was quite as good as the original Thieves book, it had much more of that feel than the previous few books have had. I was happy to get some of Zoey's POV again and to see some of the old loose threads picked back up or resolved. I still love these characters, and I'm glad to know there's more to come of their story!

*This is a spin-off series, and I highly HIGHLY recommend starting with Steal the Light. The original characters have a heavy presence, and I don’t think this spin-off series will be as enjoyable if you haven’t read the original one.*

*Rating: 4 Stars // Read Date: 2020 // Format: eBook*

Fans of Lexi Blake's Thieves series and Books 1-4 in her Hunter series. Anyone who likes laugh-out-loud hilarity, heart-wrenching emotion, complex and flawed but still lovable characters, action, heists, sex, supernatural creatures (especially vampires), and lots of adorable relationships of all kinds (Thieves). Anyone who likes alpha males, menages, and paranormal/urban fantasy with significant romance and sex (Hunter). Anyone who likes feisty heroines, lovable characters, polyamorous romances, and complex, long-game plots (overall series).

I love Lexi Blake's Thieves series and always hoped that we'd find out what happened to Summer as well as that we'd see Marcus get his own romance so I was thrilled when I heard about Stealing Summer. While a lot of this author's books work as stand alone stories (you can pretty much read the Masters & Mercenaries series in any order for example) I really recommend reading this book after the rest of the Thieves and Hunter books because there is so much going on here that it would be confusing for a first time reader.

We have three different points of view for the book, Zoey from the original books in the series, Kelsey whose story was told in the Hunter spin off and also Summer who we saw briefly as a baby but never as a POV character before. Sometimes I find stories confusing when they're told from multiple points of view but these three characters were distinctive enough that it was easy to keep track of who we were reading about.

It's really hard to say too much about the plot of this book without giving spoilers but trust me if you had questions at the end of the previous books then you'll get most of the answers here. As well as Zoey and Kelsey we get to catch up with other series favourites like Daniel, Dev and Marcus, we also get to explore a few new realms and if you're fans of Lexi's other books you'll spot cameos from characters from both the Masters and Mercenaries and the Faery story series. I loved getting to meet Summer and see how her life had turned out since she was taken to Faerie and I really loved seeing Marcus finally get his own happily ever after that he's waited thousands of years for.

The only other thing I'm going to tell to is that this is a total game changer for this series and whole world. Lots of revelations are made and while I expected something like what happened at the end it was still a jaw dropping moment and a HUGE cliffhanger. I honestly can't wait for the next book in the series and I'm really glad that Lexi Blake is writing in this world again!

I am so irritated at myself. I thought this series was going in a way that is NFR so I put this book off for years. I could just kick myself.

Bringing Summer back in a way that makes sense for the world and also fills in the cracks that been appearing in the relationships and throwing them into a place where roles are switched and there are complicating elements for all of the characters.
This was action packed and now it's on to see the consequences of them being elsewhere.

My gawd, Lexi Blake's imagination is a wondrous thing. Stealing Summer, the long awaited and much anticipated final book in the Hunter: Thieves series is spectacular! It's a rollercoaster ride through magic, supernatural and paranormal worlds. There's intrigue, suspense, deceit, treachery, romantic and familial love and liberaly sprinkled with deft touches of humor scattered throughout. There are moments when you'll gasp, yell out loud, sit at the edge of your seat and even shed a few tears. Or in my case ugly cry. While this may be the end of this portion of the Thieves saga it perfectly set the stage for what's to come and I think it's going to be epic!

Although this is listed as book 5 in the Hunter series, it is misleading. Yes, Kelsey is in the story as are all the MCs from the earlier 'Stealing' series. Basically, this a 'bridge' book that shifts the narrative away from Kelsey and back to Zoey, Dan, and Dev for the next set of books.

The POV jumps around constantly among six or seven characters which is jarring, at best.

The big plus, is Marcus Vorenus (a personal favorite from both sets of Thieves' stories) finally gets his HEA.

I've classed this as both HFN and 'left-hanging' because of Marcus' HEA and that almost all the major plot threads are tied up. BUT there also a nasty cliff-hanger.

Born into this world with a little bit of magic, Summer has only known a small moment in the presence of her parents. That one moment allowed Daniel the foresight to continue on with his legacy. Life for the Donovan-Quinn family moved on without knowing exactly where life lead their beloved daughter.

Life has been a roller coaster for Summer. The strength of her powers has led Summer to live life as a human, containing all of her magic. With a friend by her side, Summer does is determined to help those around her even if it means using a little thievery that runs deep in her roots. Then a force of nature would alter Summer’s life.

Who could have expected a woman and a vampire to land in the middle of a battle that would change Summer’s world?? With one of the Queen’s husbands missing in addition to her former lover, Kelsey knows that something is not as it seems. After battling those who are after this woman that looks like the Queen, Kelsey is determined to get to the bottom of things and return to her family.

As Zoey and Daniel try to piece together what happened to those that have vanished into thin air, the duo finds themselves falling through the plane to another world. In this plane, things are not at all like they are on Earth. Danger is swirling and the source of it all is the child that they formed through the magic of their love for one another. Seeing Summer after all this time is shocking and exhilarating, but there are more important things to focus on. Everyone seems to be after Summer and keeping her safe will require help from everyone on the different planes.

Stealing Summer is the latest release in the Hunter series by Lexi Blake. To understand all of the nuances of this ever-winding tale, you should read the previous books in the Thieves and Hunter series BEFORE diving headfirst into Stealing Summer. Once again – a prophecy sets the stage for a long overdue reunion between the members of the Donovan-Quinn family. What transpires is a menagerie of unparalleled magic that Zoey, Daniel, Dev, Kelsey and Marcus have never witnessed before. The plot is full of twists, tales, and prophecies galore. The ending…….Oh how I am dying to get my hands on the next book!! Our favorite lovers are in for a reckoning that has left me desperate for more Donovan-Quinn magic!!

3.75 - 4 stars. This was a good book! Stealing Summer is the next book in the Hunters and Thieves series. It is the continuation of Dev, Daniel and Zoey's story, along with Kelsey, Marcus and some great new characters. I won't go into the plot too much because it is best to go in blind. In the forward, the author notes that this is a transition book to move the series story arc along and it definitely did that job. I did find the book a little slow in a few parts as far as action, but there was a lot that happened emotionally and plotwise. I really enjoyed the story and finally meeting Summer, Zoey and Daniel's magical child who was raised in the Fae world. I was very happy with her storyline, where she ended up and where I can see it going. I was also very happy with the way things were going with Zoey, Dev and Daniel too. And I was thrilled with the way the series story arc ended up at the end of the book, even though there is a doozy of a cliffhanger. I am really looking forward to the next book. I can't wait to see what happens next!

For all her faults, I will admit that Lexi Blake can build world with the best of them. I enjoyed this book enough to read it through the night. I think mainly because it didn’t center around Kelsey and her two husbands.

I usually find multiple POV irritating. But this book, it worked. The POV was between Kelsey, Zoey, and Summer. I also hate it when the story line gets rehashed by different views, but it also worked in this book.

There were a few times the author repeated something, see the notes and highlight section for them. But it’s easily to overlook them.

Overall Marcus gets his ending (or beginning how ever you want to look at it). His story and happiness was long over due. For those who’ve stuck with this story since the beginning, this won’t be a disappointment.

OMFG!

Plot spoilers alert.
Hellsfire Lexi, I have no words. I have waited so long for Stealing Summer thinking all the time how much I wanted to see the conclusion to Zoey, Dan and Dev's story only to realise as I got three quarters of the way in that there was more I wanted to know. So much happens in the storyline and so many questions are answered only to leave just as many hanging in the wind.
I did not expect a further book, and please, don't make us wait too long for Outlaw, I can't take the prolonged anticipation!
There are some sex scenes each of them appropriate and loving and undertaken in pure Lexi style.
As an addition to the series the storyline was slow to start, building events and characters but once it got going it powered along.
As ever, Lexi weaves a world you don't want to leave.

I have very conflicted feelings about this book. There were some plot points that really worked for me, but other things that I hated.

I hated that the author had to tie in the book to every plot point from all the previous books including the original series. Each one of the previous plot points had some amount of reference and/or summary associated with it and there were a lot of them. I actually thought that this must be the last book and the author was tying up all the ends.

I hated that the author brought in characters from different book series. The reason for the characters seemed forced, contrived and unnatural to the story.

I hated that a large part of the plot hinged on the low self esteem of Summer. That part of the plot felt unrealistic and as unoriginal as you can get. Summer is made of magic and yet spent most of the book thinking that she could bind her magic and be human. She is LITERALLY made out of magic. She was written as whiny and completely unaware of oneself. It was an affront to the readers to use such a mind numbing trope for a large portion of the plot. I am shocked by this. Lexi Blake has done a great job at minimizing the use of the usual tropes.

I have been rooting for Marcus since book 1. He has had horrible luck in love. I have had so much sympathy for him. Marcus completes his search and finds his one with this book. Yet this was mostly in the background. The book gave a lot of time to the relationships between Dev, Dan and Zoey along with the characters from a different series. It was a dishonor to Marcus (yes, I know he doesn't exist) to have his story line be treated in such a secondary way.

I feel that this book should have been edited down to about a 1/3 of its size and been part of the next book. It doesn't have enough in terms of moving the overall plot forward to be a standalone book. There were components of this book that are absolutely necessary to continue the story line but the components were a small part of the actual book.

Yet, I can't wait for the next book.

2.5-3 stars. I completely love this series and counted down the days until Stealing Summer was released. I have become invested with the characters in this world and normally get sucked into the plot right away. This addition to the story was a disappointment for me. I felt the multiple POVs made it difficult to stay engaged and the entire thing seemed scattered and pieced together. I also wrongfully assumed this would be the conclusion of the series and was left with an empty feeling at the end when we'd gotten no closure with the Myrddin conflict.
I will definitely read the next one and hope that I enjoy it more because I truly have loved the other 9 books in the Thieves series.

This is the 10th book in the series and must be read in order.

* How did the book make you feel?: What an amazing book. I was so choked up in a couple of spots that I almost cried. Like many of Lexi's books for me, I had a hard time putting the book down. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. One thing I didn't really like or understand is when another plane had Ian, Charlotte and Adam. It was such a little part that I don't know why it needed to be in there. It was distracting to me.

* How do you feel about how the story was told?: This book is bringing together the previous 9 books in an interesting way. In the first set of books the story was told from the point of view of Zoey. This set, the Hunter series, was told from the point of view of Kelsey. This last book in the series was told from the point of view of Zoey, Kelsey and Summer. Lexi knows how to build anticipation through the eyes of her characters. I love them all.

* What did you think about the main characters?: The three female main characters are strong and a force to be wrecking with. I want them as my friends and a part of my life. I feel a connection with them. The male main characters are just so hot. I want to be Zoey and Kelsey just so I could be with their men. They are loyal and protective. I think Marcus is still one of my favorite.

* Which parts of the book stood out to you?: What stood out to me the most was that I didn't care for this type of genre very much, unless it had a lot of erotica within the story. This series had very little. That is why I am surprised that I kept reading. I am so glad that I did.

* What did you think about the ending?: Thank goodness the next book is already written. What a cliff hangar. I feel sorry for the readers who did not have The Rebel Queen waiting for them when they finished this book. That was just plain mean of Lexi!! lol The last 1/4 of the book is where I almost cried, it was so emotional. I wasn't expecting the twists and turns .

* What is your impression of the author?: Like I've said before in the review as well as my other reviews for this series, I normally don't like this genre without lots of erotica mixed in. Lexi is such a phenomenal writer that she sucked me in. Now I don't want this series to end. I love the fact that she can continue with the story line but in a different series. I wish one of the branches would be filled with erotica.

I saw these questions on another reviewers post and thought I'd use them.

Every so often I go and look to see if there's a new Thieves/Hunter book out. I haven't looked in a little while because I thought the story had ended. I thought the Hunter books were ok enough to read but the last book seemed to finish the series. Where could you go from 'f*ck a baby into me?' After that you'd think Daniel would need to find a new Nex Apprientix for a little while.....but when I looked at the beginning of October I was still excited to see that there was a Thieves/Hunter crossover book out.

I've read the first five books in the Thieves series 3 times and I LOVED them. They are the best Fantasy Romance series on the market. I recommend them to all my girlfriends if they ask me for a book recommendation. Dev is one of my fav characters of all time. I could take or leave the Hunter series. One of the books I down right didn't like. I didn't endear me like the Thieves series did.

....But then there was this monstrosity of a book. Was this book even planned? The writing wasn't as good as ANY of the previous books. The ONLY reason I didn't give it a 1 star was because of the ending. The ending was beautifully written. (roughly the last 15%) I was shocked because the rest of the book was utter garbage. It was a total slog to read. Maybe other people liked it but I actually want sex in my Fantasy Romance and I'm not a breeder. I don't want my characters talking about kids through and adult fantasy romance book. That's not what I signed up for what I purchased this book. It's a total turn off. I don't want to hear about babies babies babies in a what was a great Fantasy Romance series. There were like two maybe halfway decent sex scenes. I'm not including the quickie at the beginning of the book. Plus, the sex scenes just weren't good. The characters were always in their heads. Writers need to learn from Sarah J Maas about writing a sex scene.

I was so happy to FINALLY get a POV from Zoey but hers was so BORING!!!! All she talked about was saving her kids. Where was the sassy lady from the first 5 books??? Where was the thief I fell in love with? I have no idea what I was expecting but she was a soccer mom!!!!! WTF!!!! I found Kelsey's story more interesting until she started worrying about the baby inside her whenever she did something. Ugh.

Also, the POV from different characters was weird. Half the time they just rehashed what the other person saw or gave a different perspective. You could have cut out a fourth of the book if you took all of that out. This book didn't need to be 504 pages. I found myself skimming some of that.

All in all.....I didn't plan on it but because of the cliffhanger of an ending....I guess I'll have to read the next book and hope its better. I have no hope that its a fantasy romance and it's just plain ol urban fantasy/ sci-fi fantasy or whatever this book was.

A Wild Ride and Not to be Missed

BY FAR this series continues to be my favorite supernatural story.
Anytime I am asked on FB to recommend a book that involves any fantasy characters I only need to mention Lexi Blake’s Theives series.
This book just cements that recommendation.
OMG, this book arrived for me Thursday and I stayed up and finished it at 1am this morning, (Saturday) to say I DEVOURED this story is an understatement.
This story brings in all the Theives characters...Zoey, Kelsey, Dev, Marcus, and Daniel and with them we finally meet Summer. Rest assured there’s lots of POV time to all of them and there is not a moment in the story that felt like it didn’t belong.
There’s romance, suspense, mystery, action, sexy time and all the feels all wrapped in a bow for the reader to enjoy.
A few surprises...LB brings in some of the characters from her other fabulous book series; The Faery Trilogy and a few from Masters and Mercenaries! While you don’t have to have read any of those books it’s just an added enjoyment and a couple extra laughs when you know those characters 😉😂
I almost thought this might have been the end of Theives...but (and this is a pseudo-spoiler... just a heads up...it’s not the the end and I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next book Outlaw!!! 🤗😃👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Those readers that are fans and followers to LB...if. Haven’t already one-clicked this book, go ahead now and do it, you WON’T regret it. If you are new and not sure about it read the synopsis and this review and I hope you one-click it too.

There was such awesomeness in this book that I don't know where to start. There was that 20-30% in the middle that I couldn't take a breath because stuff kept happening.

I hate Myrddin and at the same time I love him with a passion because he's a fantastic villain. He's not the crazy type, or the psyco type, he's the plotting type. He waited years and years and carefully put all the pieces in their place and then BAM! It will give me so much satisfaction to see him go, even though I know I'll have to wait at least 4-5 books, probably more before that particular even takes place. After all Lee, Mia and Dean need to come together and learn to be together and then they can try to defeat him. It will take time. But hey, I have it 😁

Summer was fantastic and so much Daniel's daughter. Their time in the in-between was one of highlights in this book. Just wonderful.
And, after so much time, it's like Dev, Zoey and Dan are only just now a real family, in the sense that they don't have any more walls between them. They all crumbled when Daniel was human and was forced to face all his weaknesses and fears.

I thought I would be upset at the end, with the time jump, but I'm not. There was another book where two kids grew up with a spell and their parents were cheated of roughly ten years with them. I was so mad at the character who made the spell, thinking that she had done something terrible, so I thought I would feel the same at the end of Stealing Summer.
It was different, probably because I'm so excited to know what will happen next.

I have questions of course, for example what happened to Gray? He wasn't mentioned at the end, so I think he ended up in Hell somehow. And Zack?
Trent did as I thought and sheltered the kids when the royals disappeared. We know the next triad is Lee/Mia/Dean, and we know we'll probably have Fen/Evan/unknown third, so then there will be Rhys left. I suppose we still haven't met his mates and will in the next books.
If I think about it, even playing it on the safe side, I think we still have at least 12 books left. I can't wait 😁

Stealing Summer is the fitting conclusion in the Hunter and Thieves world written by Lexi Blake.

And an ending that will change the Thieves world forever

4.5 stars 🌟

This book takes a little bit of a different path than the previous books. We now have Kelsey, but we also get to have Zoey, Daniel and Dev with her as well (along with Marcus). They have all been transported to a different plane and things start to get REALLY weird.

We get to meet Dean, who I started to like right away, and also get to meet Summer - who, of course, is the entire reason that everything happens. There is also the evil sorceress who the reader can see right away is completely evil, even though it is a complete surprise to Summer and Dean.

Things get going right away and there are various levels of confusion (at least for me there was). Something is happening with the planes and things are heading towards the culmination with the evil sorceress lady. There is also the whole thing with Marcus and Summer. Did I think that happened too quickly? Absolutely, but in hindsight, there really wasn't a lot of time before everything came crashing down so I guess it happened how it was supposed to happen.

Let me talk about one of my favorite things.....Tag, Adam and Charlie!!!! Those two bickering (Adam and Tag) actually told me who they were before the book told me who they were. I laughed out loud! I was so excited to see how much I could gleam out of some of my favorite characters and was thrilled to see mentions of so many. Those of us who love the M&M series got a huge and unexpected surprise. (well, Levi is not a favorite, but there was the Malones, Liam and Avery, Serena and Jake....it was awesome!!)

This book kept me on my toes until the very last page, and of course the ending would have been AWFUL if I didn't have the next book ready to start right away. But I did, so everything worked out just perfect.

Gotta run because I just HAVE to find out what the heck is going on......

First, I’m incredibly biased with this series. I feel connected to the Thieves/Hunter series because the women characters are badass, strong, and bring me all the joy. They are also flawed and question themselves but eventually realize their strength. I wait with excited angst between the release of each book.

Pro: This was no different; the book did not disappoint. Stealing Summer is the coming of age/power story wrapped in action, mystery, anticipation and hot sex. There are twists and unexpected turns. Enough of a back story is given to get through without reading the other books first; however, they are worth the read so you have more details. Added bonus: Lovable characters from her other stories find their way to this series.

****Spoiler starts here*****

Con: I don’t know how Lexie is going to explain the time shift in the next book and the way she leaves us on this cliff means I can’t let it go in this one. I understand time travel like time zones. If I go from California to Georgia, I’m losing 3 hours. However time does not leap by years in California while I’m away. (Maybe I misunderstood the rate of change so I will do the math to verify.) Lexi is usually so good at logically knitting these things together, even in her supernatural world, that my analytical, mathematical mind can ignore minor inconsistencies to continue to suspend my belief in reality for the story’s sake. This will be a major plot point in the upcoming book so I’m having a super hard time letting it go.

First to be fair, I should share that this is one of my favorite series. With the exception of the last book which I believe I rated at 4 stars, this is a 5 star series and I'm already salivating for the next book. There are many parts to this story that I enjoyed (and I took my time reading it because 1) I didn't want it to end and 2) the next book is not due out any time soon). First, the book brought back Zoey, Danny, Dev, Kelsey and Marcus. It added characters from Lexi's A Faery Story Series (written under her Sophie Oaks name) which mirror some of the characters from her M&M series which is another favorite (yes I know, not disclosing much of the story-line but who wants the plot given away???) and then brings in Summer from her earlier Thieves series all grown up. The story has magic, fantasy, sexy scenes, fight scene and leads up to a great resolution and the set up for your next book. It was written very well with new characters, different planes and new plot twists. Summer's story is just starting and I am looking forward to reading so much more about her and her consort. If you enjoy the Thieves, this is a must read. If you're new to the series start at the beginning and enjoy the ride. You won't regret the journey.

It has been days since I finished this book. Days. And I'm still hungover. It's the worst book hangover I ever had and I don't wish it for anybody. Nevertheless it is saying a lot about this book and the author's talent to create a world full of magic, interconnection and excitement.
I admit, I never expected the twists and turns that were written into the story and in the end I was sitting there with my mouth open, not really able to get back into reality.
The character development was exceptional. Every character that (re-)appeared had enough "screen time" to get to know him/her (again) and to give them space to grow. I freaking adored the vampire Taggarts and Adam and I just love how some of my favorite characters appear aganin. With a different race, but still, they appear.
The writing style was exceptional. It kept me hooked into the story and made it hard to put the book down to do this real life thing. I honestly have no words to describe what this book really did to me. Anything I'm saying feel inadequate in comparison to the writing genius that this author is and I cannot wait to see where she'll lead us next.

Lexi Blake - Queen of Romantic Fantasy!

What a glorious trip into the Thieves world. I loved every minute of my journey in this story. Stealing Summer by Lexi Blake is the fifth book in her Hunter: Thieves series. This is a complex story with much action and it kept me on the edge of my seat as I followed the adventures of Summer and Marcus, the royals, Zoe Donovan-Quin with Daniel and Dev and Kelsey Owens and Dean. Prophecy in a fantasy story is a powerful tool. In this story it greatly enhances the reading experience. This Thieves world is a brilliant product of Ms. Blake's vivid imagination. Her talented wordsmithing draws the reader into her fascinating world and woos them with great characters, plenty of action, scorching sexy scenes and prophecy fulfilled. This is one of my favorite books so far this year.

I was going back and forth trying to categorize this series as either Romantic Fantasy or Fantasy with Romance Elements. I chose Romantic Fantasy because the relationships are based on so much love which shines so brightly that the love shines brighter than all else in the story.

A highly anticipated book for me and did not disappoint. I couldn’t wait to turn the pages to find out what happened but simultaneously didn’t want to reach the end! I found this book highly satisfying as there are quite a few plot reveals and progressions to the overall story arc...no spoilers here though, you have to read it! There are multiple POV which I was initially hesitant about, but I felt that it was seamlessly done and actually heightened the anticipation in places which enhanced my reading experience. This is a book which explores the wider Lexi universe, if you’ve read her other books you will be treated to some delicious cameo-esque appearances. Lexi’s writing style is clever and addictive, the characters are well developed and easy to connect to, there is sarcasm, humour, action and all the feels in this delightful story. To anyone on the fence with paranormal I urge you to delve into this series, you will not be disappointed. The only problem now is waiting for the next book 😂 Kudos to you Lexi Blake for delivering another winner.

I loved this book so much, it gets my first written review ever. It’s difficult to write this type transition book and get the momentum to flow. Lexi has pretty much got this entire book rollicking along with multiple plot twists and three different perspectives.

Some long running relationships hit new milestones and potential new relationships are hinted at. You probably don’t want to read this without some familiarity with the world and it’s characters. It’s a big emotional thrill to see the long arcs and reconnections.

Maybe the villain could have had slightly better development?? But, really it’s the emotional angst and tension that propels everything along. With just enough really great diversions for intimacy and believable circumstances flowing from one scene the next.

Kept me totally entertained, during a single sit down read. The next book in the series cannot come soon enough.

It is not very often I cannot find words after reading. This is one of those cases. This book guys. It was pure everything. This was the story we have all been waiting for and we were completely unprepared for it.

This is book 5 in the Hunter series and 10 in the Thieves series and I would also say book 4 for Faery Story Series. They help a lot if you read them as well since there are overlapping characters.

This is Summer's story. It hurts your heart but it also give  us so much. This is a typical Lexi Blake rad, but prepare yourself because that ending is NOT what you see coming. Damn Prophecy.

This has all the favs in it guys and trust me, you don't want to miss a single thing so take our time because when you get to the end you wont be prepared.
