I enjoy this narrator quite a bit more than the previous one, but if anything the stories are getting duller.

The ham-fisted morality lessons in this one were very tiresome, as was the three best characters in the series (Nearra, Davine, and Elidor) having basically no part in it.

Really my favorite part was the interactions between Maddoc and.... A certain black-robed wizard whose name I won't mention for spoiler reasons.

I will finish the series, as at this point I'm too invested not to, but I really, really hope the next book is better than this one.

This is part of a series that takes place in the Dragonlance universe. This series must be read in order. In this one, the remaining companions are dealing with the loss of Elidor and Nearra. They are having a hard time dealing with these losses and lash out at each other. This causes them to separate and go on their own ways.

I loved the beginning of this book as we tackle the issue of their loss. This loss was devastating and I liked that the characters were not okay. I was surprised the author had these companions split up. This meant that there is not going to be a quick resolution to their problems. I liked this aspect and it was welcome especially in a book meant for young readers. The characters deal with real issues that lead to character growth. There were also a couple of cameos by characters from the original trilogy that was a pleasant surprise. Then the second half came and this is when this book lost me a little. It deals with the ongoing hatred between wizards and clerics. This felt like it came out of nowhere and I wished there was some buildup for it. I know it is a young reader's book so maybe that explains the quick transition.

I am enjoying this series and so far there has not been a bad book book. It isn't fantastic reading but it is a series where the characters do shine. I look forward to seeing how the characters deal with their current situation.

Let me just say this from the very beginning, "I love kenders." They are one of my favorite fantasy races because they are so much fun. Finally, a book in this series focuses on my favorite character: Sindri. What is unique about Sindri is that he is not the typical kender, but one that believes that he has the ability to cast magic. I can't wait to see what becomes of him in the future. Does he really have magical abilities? I sure hope so.

As for Catriona, the other main character in Dragon Day, I am glad to see that she is finally dealing with her attitude issue. Her problem is that she doesn't trust anyone else but herself. In this book, she does some soul-searching and finally comes to grasp with her problem. Of course, with this band of adventurers breaking up, it leaves me to wonder what Davyn is doing, or if Elidor is really dead, or if they will ever get back together and rescue Nearra. I sure hope that these questions are answered in the books to follow.

I can't wait for more of them to hit the bookshelves, as DragonLance: The New Adventures is a fantastic fantasy series for young readers. I am looking forward to seeing what happens in Dragon Knight by Dan Willis, which will focus on Davyn.

I rated this book a 9 out of 10.
