Teaming up with the son of a demon, an angel, and one hell of a woman might push Diana to the limits of her courage and sanity. Unless she wants to sell her soul to the devil, she must cope with her new partner, make the most of a bad situation, and find out who stole her cat and why.

RJ Blain suffers from a Moleskine journal obsession, a pen fixation, and a terrible tendency to pun without warning.

When she isn't playing pretend, she likes to think she's a cartographer and a sumi-e painter. In reality, she herds cats and a husband, and obeys the commands of Tsu Dhi, the great warrior fish.

In her spare time, she daydreams about being a spy. Should that fail, her contingency plan involves tying her best of enemies to spinning wheels and quoting James Bond villains until she is satisfied.

Delicious and delightful!

As the series continues, each book has started to weave everything together in to a greater whole. It's like one massive story, told in oh-so-delicious and tasty tidbits. Each bite enhancing the flavor of the next.
With Satin. Lots of glorious Satin.
Have fun storming the castle! 😈

A fun read.

Diane come home from work and finds her house ransacked and her cat missing, she calls the police but a catnapping does not get much of a response soooooo then she calls The Devil. As you do. Diane works for the C.D.C. So is very familiar with Lucifer and his wife Darlene, whom she considers friends. Lucifer introduces Diane to Darrin the son of a Demon, Archangel and Human as someone who can help her find her cat. Lucifer knows exactly where her cat is but because of the rules about what he can involve himself with ——— anything which could bring about the End of Days he is forbidden from interfering———— he cannot help Diana directly. As with other books in this series this is very dialogue heavy, but it’s a fun read with an interesting take on Gods, Devils, Heaven and Hells. I really enjoyed it.

Love this

I had to force myself to read slowly so I didn't cry as much when I was done. I'm torn between wanting an unlimited supply of R.J. Blain's books and wanting to savor them like rare seasonal treats. I could get lost in this world and be totally content, even as a pure human. I'll just be here rereading them all while waiting "patiently" for Plaidypus...

So, this is the end of the road for me with this series. It had some truly beautiful, funny books but others were a tad bit long winded on theories that I don't agree with nor can stomach further. This, unfortunately was one of the long winded ones. I wish the story focused more on the pair getting to know each other and building up the romance but alas!
Thank you R J Blain for the ride!

Amazing Book

I absolutely love this book. I loved all the mention of characters from previous books. The story was great and I can’t wait to read it again. Definitely one of my favorites

2023 bk 55 - Ah - a return to using MRC to expose the evils of the modern/current world. In this case, illegal and hidden labs using animals in ways not appropriate or kind to the animals. Really well done book!

What would you do for your beloved kitty? Diana is willing to do anything, even if it means making a deal with the devil. The story builds with one earth shattering revelation after another. By the end, Diana—and the world— will never be the same. The characters were colorful and well-written. Even though I haven’t been reading this series, I didn’t feel lost. Overall, it was an entertaining read and I enjoyed every minute of it.

3.5 stars for now. I read this at the wrong time. I knew the release date but Amazon sent me a notification that it was available on the 10th. Cue hype. Cue disappointment, but liking the little teasers in the emails. If I didn’t have work the next day, I would’ve been up late long after midnight. But I did, so I waited until the morning and went straight in.

Not read in one sitting, read on the tram and during work. Will defo have a re-read at some point. I really liked that Belial ended up in a triad and just as whipped as Lucy. I didn’t really feel anything about Darian. The two of them are mostly chaperoned and it does feel like he’s a support character, rather than a romantic interest. I did feel sorry for him with the panty summoning, but it was funny too.

I liked how strong Lucy and Darlene’s presence was and how cute they are together. I enjoyed seeing the characters from the previous books. I especially liked the ending with the parents being redeemable. His appearance was interesting and I did like how they’re all becoming closer. But that didn’t work out so well for Chuck, so not sure on Him popping up.

Although a secretary, Diana still has specialised skills so the little info dumps are there. Another time and I’d like it more. Still looking forward to the next one.

The story continues in Catnapped by R.J. Blain. This is the fourteenth novel in the Magical Romantic Comedy (with a Body Count) series and is an absolute delight to read.

What would you do if the most important person in the world went missing? For Diana, that person is Mr. Flooferson, her cat and former lab animal. As for what she's willing to do? As it turns out, she's ready to make a deal with the devil.

Literally. What should have been a quest to get back her cat quickly turns into a story larger than life, with news that could change the world forever. It's certainly changing the way Diana looks at the world.

Oh my goodness. Catnapped was such an absolute delight to read. I'm glad that I was a little bit impulsive and decided to dive right in any way. It was worth it! I should probably mention that I'm not up to date on this series (I've only read Dirty Deeds, a short story anthology), but I had no trouble following along.

No, that's an understatement. I really enjoyed this read. To be fair, I suspected that I would. The cover screams that it is my sort of urban fantasy favorite, and the title is cute and enough to get my attention (urban fantasy + cat = you have my attention).

Diana is a human living among supernaturals, and that comes with all sorts of complications. I love how determined she was to protect (and get back) her cat - even if her cat does have an adorably silly name. Actually, the latter just helped to add charm, as far as I'm concerned.

This book lived up to the expectations I set in my mind and was a blast to read. I'm really going to have to go back sometime and read through the whole series. It's clearly going to be worth it.

Thanks to Pen & Page Press for making this book available for review. All opinions expressed are my own.

As a fur baby mum, I love stories which feature women who will do anything for their pets. And in the case of Catnapped, Diana will do literally anything for her stolen cat. And I love that her journey to rescue her cat ends up with not only a happily ever after match, but also a whole lot of mayhem and destruction. Which is kind of expected in a Blain book by this point in my experience of her works.

Darian is a great, and very passive companion for Diana. Which is not a bad thing, I love that Diana just races forward, taking over the world and taking name. And Darian just supports her and has her back. Plus, it meant that Diana’s interactions with Lucifer are all that much more entertaining and chaotic. The chaos is really why I read Blain, and the fact that the men are often just along for whatever chaotic ride the women decide to run away on…

I spent the whole time reading Catnapped trying really hard to guess what kind of supernatural being Diana was going to become. I mean, she was getting transformed by Lucifer, it was going to be an interesting being. And I also love that he has a somewhat insane preoccupation with unicorns… as such, I probably should’ve had a bit more of an inkling as to what Diana was going to become, but it still blindsided me. And now I want more nightmares in my life.

There is a bit of a common theme of Christianity in this series. But I’ve noticed that the last few books have gotten even more heavily into the lore. For someone who doesn’t necessarily love stories which feature Christianity, I am loving Blain’s take on it. There’s also more information on the Triads and how they create their families (which I love) and shrouds (which I am kind of obsessed with). It gives a whole lot of information that I’ll probably enjoy on a reread.

I absolutely loved visiting with a number of past and well-loved characters in Catnapped. One of my favourite things about romance series is often that you get to revisit characters, while moving onto a whole other set. The epilogue for this story in particular was fun and gave me so many happily ever after vibes.

Diana comes home and finds that someone had broken into her home and then she finds that her cat is missing.
That cat was a part of laboratory experiment hence the cat was always scared of people and would never allow anyone near her because the way she was traumatized by the people in the centre.
Diana named it as “Mr. Flooferson, the Magnificent” and loved her cat very much hence, upon finding that her cat is missing she gets upset and doesn't understand whom to ask for help so the first one she ask for help is Lucifer, the devil himself.
But can she keep up to the task of Lucifer because the devil always ask something in exchange.
If you need something from him, you will have to strike a deal.
Lucifer also strike a deal with a triad, Darian who is the son of a demon, archangel and a human, and also is Lucifer's nephew.
What is the reason Lucifer striked a deal with Darian that he ended up being with Diana to complete his end of deal?
Can Diana be able to find her cat?
Who abducted her cat?
What is Lucifer's motive behind striking the deal between Diana and Darian?
Why is “Mr. Flooferson, the Magnificent” abducted?
What deal did Lucifer crack to save Diana cat?
It is a quite enjoyable read. Firstly, the presence of Lucifer himself makes it much more exciting to read.
A perfect deal with the devil which brings Diana and Dorian close.
The title makes a perfect sense.
The cover is very appealing, I loved it.
I loved the book.
Diana has a very strong character.
Good plot, medium paced and easy to understand.
The plot is very smoothly written and is easy to understand.
I would definitely recommend it to those who love YA fantasy, and the book involving the devil.

I usually enjoy R.J. Blain's books. This one not so much. For the first 6 pages Diana is an angry diatribe about the loss of her stolen pet and her calling on Satan himself to get her cat back. 1/3 of the book later we finally get to look for the cat. Darien who is supposed to be the other half of Diana is basically a background character. As a result back and forth that I usually enjoy was annoying.

The death and destruction promised from page one was complete background as well. I think maybe she melted one lycanthrope (it wasn't even gory- just I melted him) and burned some buildings and destroyed a table or two the other supposed deaths were non-existent. And though we were continually, and I mean continually, told that she was the world's greatest magical practitioner she only ever used a couple of magics. Darien used almost as much and his tricks were said to be basic.

The ending was a little bizarre as well. We have a huge Christmas party were characters from other books come to Diana & Darien's home. As well as God and Diana's parents and the Pastor and his wife. We get basically no background on the Pastor other than he is a dick and a hypocrite, again a cursory bland review of his past sins and then we let God punish him. I think for the level of punishment he received we should have had a little bit more understanding than the dude's and ass-hat and deserves it.

Though I had a basic warm fuzzy for the characters, because I enjoy Blain's writing so much, the story was the worst I've read.

These are fun stories. They are romances, so you know right away who will be getting together, but there are plenty of other things going on at the same time as the flirtatious banter. This is #14 in the series. I would recommend you read at least a few of the early books to fully understand the magical world in which this is set. For example, if you become infected with the lycanthropy virus, you may eventually be able to transform into another species (real or mythological) and, perhaps, a hybrid form. Sometimes, the virus remains dormant for years or it may be triggered by a near-death experience to save your life. Human mates may be converted into the same species. The virus is sort-of semi-sentient. Lycanthropes are registered and monitored by the CDC. There are also magic users, pixies, "headless" angels, demons, devils, Satan (aka Satin), the Christian god, various other religious pantheons, succubi, incubi, unicorns, cindercorns, etc. Pretty much all of those are at least mentioned in this book. Also, the main character in this book has appeared in other books in the series. You might want to learn more about her and her relationships to other important characters that appear in this book.

Fun story with strong characters. Some sad parts. Religious people probably wouldn't like this.

As somebody who recently spent a whole lot of money helping my sick cat get better, I can totally get behind Diana going to extremes to save her cat.

Arriving home to discover that her cat has been stolen Diana decides she will do anything to get him back and make the people who stole him pay for their crimes. Knowing the police won’t take her case seriously she decides to go straight to The Devil and demand his help. Using her influence from work and the threat of going to the Devil’s wife if he refuses to help, Diana manages to get all the help she needs and soon learns there is a lot more going on than just her missing cat.

What follows is an epic adventure of magic and mayhem, as Diana and Darian set out to save her missing cat, discover why he was taken and seek revenge on those that would harm him.

I have loved all the books I have read in this series and I love this one too.
It was a fun read and it was great having previous characters make an appearance.
It is always fun when Lucy makes an appearance in these stories and I couldn’t wait to see how he would interfere/help this time.

While this book does have a serious side, it is best to just let go and enjoy the ride when reading these stories.

I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone that just wants to escape reality for a little while and enjoy a fun read.

Diana comes home one day to find her door standing wide open and her cat, Mr. Flooferson the Magnificent gone. Diana rescued Mr. Flooferson the Magnificent from the lab that experimented on animals. Mr. Flooferson the Magnificent was almost dead when she rescued him.

Diana loves her cat very much and will not stop for nothing or no one to find her cat even if that means selling her soul to the devil. But Diana is so much smarter than that as she will not let the devil manipulate her into selling her soul. Diana is a spunky little lady that can handle her own in a confrontation against Lucifer himself especially when it comes to her cat and her soul.

But the devil does make one little deal with her and that is that she has to take along this guy Darian, the son of a demon, an angel, and one hell of a woman, to help her find her cat. Diana has no choice in the matter of taking Darian along for the ride if she wants to keep her soul.

I love these Magical Romantic Comedy stories. What I really loved about Catnapped is the two main characters, Diana and Darian. Those two are as different as night and day but are so much alike in others. I love the way these two got along. I loved how Darian wanted to redecorate Diana’s apartment to suit his own purposes and how she stood up to him.

Deep down Diana has a heart of gold. The way I know this is because of the way she helped her cat overcome some of his PTSD of being experimented on in the past. And also because as a last resort kind of thing she is willing to make a deal with the devil to help her find her cat. I can’t wait for the next book in the Magical Romantic Comedy series.

I highly recommend Catnapped and all the books in the Magical Romantic Comedy series to everyone who enjoys a good book. One-click your copy of this magic book, Catnapped today to help save a cat!

Too many monologues

I usually enjoy the heck out this series. It's funny, it's irreverent, there is generally so much going on, and off the wall pairings, and unexpected mixing of pantheons, cats with dogs, llamas and owls, I could go on. This book started off really well for me. Lucy and co. are some of my favorite characters and you just know the shenanigans are going to get deep when they're on the scene. However, in general, nothing happens. There is essentially very little action overall. Instead everyone talks everything to death. So. Much. Talking. They talk about Diana's nature. They talk about Darian's nature. They talk, incessantly, about Lucifer's nature and his various schemes. I was kind of hoping at certain points that one of the characters would get bored, wander off, drag a dead horse into the scene and begin beating it with a stick just so everyone would shut up already. Did I mention that nearly every single character talks ad nauseum throughout the book and actually does very little? I'm really hoping that the next book has more showing and way less telling.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

OMG I just love this author!! No matter what book of hers I pick up I die laughing while reading it making it a fantastic joy to read it. Now that does not mean there is not plenty of action, danger, suspense, and steam at times just that she captures her characters so very very well. Diana is one determined human living in a world full of supernaturals. Her skills lay in dealing with all of them no matter who they are in a straight forward manner. This comes in really handy when she comes home to find her place totally torn apart and her beloved rescue cat stolen. She will do anything for her cat so she calls Lucifer to start the process of finding out who did it so she can get him back. This leads to a merry adventure as she teams up with the son of a triad to investigate. Lots of surprise twists later we reach the end wishing there was more. I must say that totally enjoyed every minute of this awesomeness making it a total must read! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

A treat

More adorable magical mayhem. If you are already a fan of this series you will love Catnapped. If you are new to it i would suggest starting at the beginning with ‘Playing with Fire’, or get the Starter Pack, which has the first four novels plus some novellas. A lot of characters whose stories are told in earlier books appear in Catnapped so you will better appreciate their significance if you read the earlier books first.

This author is one of the few that I automatically pre-order as soon as they are announced (and not just for this series). She has never disappointed!

Roflmbo!!!!!

These books get better and better 😁😁.

Satin has become a firm fav lol. If he was like this in real life everyone would want to 'visit' him lol.

Diane is my kind of woman a 'secretary' that has Satin on speed dial and isn't afraid to use it! Also she's a fur mum and will go to the ends of the Earth to rescue Mr Flooferson.

Along the way she finds a man worth planning to kidnap, after a cat rescue.

People she's willing to put out of their misery and send them to Satin to rehabilitate them, because of the suffering they've caused to many animals 😢😢

Also a Christmas I'd love to be invited too 😁😈😈😈

Brilliant series that NEEDS reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay!

Another great MRCWBC book! This series will have dark themes, but happy endings. The issues brought up are ones that happen in today's society, brought to life in an urban fantasy setting that shows us just how seriously we should be taking them. Of course, you can read them without looking too deeply.

I really appreciate that Mr. Flooferson the Magnificent was adopted from a shelter, and that he wasn't the "First Pick". Senior and special needs cats deserve loving homes as well!

Not as good as previous books.

This story didn't have a lot of story to it. It was mostly the main character being led from point a to point b to point c. It could easily have been a short story.

It's well written and the prose is excellent just the story itself is a bit flat.

To offer a minor correction on content, gender and sexual preference are two different things. Asexual means no sexual desire. Non-binary or agender would mean not male/female or without gender respectively.

Not my favorite...

I was so excited when the new book came out, I'd even pre-ordered it! But then I had a difficult time making my way through this book. It's talking. A lot of talking. About religion. Yes, I understand that the religion being discussed between angels and the devil and everyone else is the belief system particular to this series and for that, I'm grateful. It certainly makes more sense than what I was taught as a kid. But I didn't want to read a book about religion! This was a disappointing book overall.

Awesome read! The author hit the mark again with another ridiculously hilarious "emergency" that is bound to appeal to any person owned by a cat. We are introduced to Diana, who is magnificent in her fury over the kidnapping of her timid four-footed feline dependent, Mr. Flooferson the Magnificent, to the point of demanding a bargain with a certain horned "Lucy". I snickered and laughed my way through this convoluted hunt for revenge combined with "Lucy's" self-admitted self-serving attempt at matchmaking. This was such fun to read!

Magnificent writing!!

These humorous "with a body count" books are wonderful works of art. The author blends fast paced dialogue with funny characters that you would love to meet. This story was funny from the beginning and didn't let up until the final page. I own all of these books and love to re-read them whenever I need a pick me up. I can't emphasize enough how great these books are. They can be read as stand alone books but they are more enjoyable if you read them in order. There are characters that continue to appear throughout the books.

Fantastic

Great addition to the series. Glad to see more of the wonderful Lucy and Darlene - they never fail to amuse. Honestly going on a huge adventure/quest and calling in hellish favours because someone stole your cat is probably the most understandable one of this series’ main characters could be (short of wanting to marry someone for their bacon cooking skills)

As always I adore R.J’s writing style! I can’t wait to read more of what she writes under any and every pseud :)

Another wonderful book!!

This books is the latest in the series and is just as good as the previous ones! I love the world that RJ Blaine creates. She manages to suck you into caring for her characters and to become so vested in their lives that you can’t wait to read the next book in the series. This series is my go-to list when I need to laugh and/or escape from life for a while.

So, so very good!

Another great story that I had to pace myself or I would’ve read it all in one go. The books from R.J.Blain (and her other pen names) are my favourite present to myself when the world is too much for me.
Diana and Darian are wonderful characters and perfect additions to Lucy’s extended family. I loved all the cameos from previous books too, definitely need to re-read those again.
Loved it.

In all of heaven and hell

While this is a stand alone book, it helps you keep track if you have read previous ones or binge them all....Diana is a secretary at the CDC and when her rescued cat is stolen she will stop at nothing to get it back! Short of bartering her soul she makes a deal with the devil to accept a partner and work with heaven and bell's emissaries to shut down an illegal drug testing operation and save her cat. Humanity depends on her.

So much fun!

I enjoyed every second of this story. From the devil to God and everything in between, they are all inside the pages of this book. I was amused and entertained throughout my reading. One woman and her love for her cat can and will change the world. Also I believe the author loves equines and their kin. You'll see what I'm talking about as you explore this fun world. Enjoy!
