Alright, but much of the story seems regurgitated. The only difference being whose got the better technology. 4 of 10 stars

One of my fondest and most vivid reading memories is my first reading of Tom Clancy’s THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, arguably English literature’s first techno-thriller. I recall holding my breath, eyes wide and eyebrows raised, and swallowing deeply as defecting Soviet submarine Captain Marko Ramius played a deadly silent game of hide and seek in the mountainous undersea terrain of the Reykjanes Ridge off the coast of Iceland. EAGLE STATION riffs on the same themes by moving that international chess match into the air, into space, and onto the surface of the moon, as a Sino-Soviet alliance wages covert (and officially undeclared but very, very hot) warfare (with extreme prejudice) against the USA over control of the lunar surface and the mining of the moon’s helium-3 resources.
There is no shortage of brilliantly exploited, fast-paced themes here to thrill even the most hard-core technology, political, and military junkies – hard-nosed international diplomacy; deployment of the recently created US Space Force; hard-core military tit for tat that treads ever closer to the boundary of a declared world war; high speed aerial battles; advances in weaponry that would make your head spin; and, of course, government decision making under the stress of all of these conditions.
EAGLE STATION is a snap to recommend to fellow readers and the latest nominee for my Top Ten of 2024 reading list.
On a side note as we rapidly approach the fateful November day on which the US will decide whether its future will include democracy and the rule of law, I shuddered when I tried to imagine a certain Donald J Trump in place of EAGLE STATION’s president, John Dalton Farrell. The possible results for the world as I pictured Trump making decisions in the same scenarios were simply terrifying. Food for thought … !

Another exciting thriller from the Brad and Patrick McLanahan series by Dale Brown. I always enjoy the technical possibilities and realities that Dale Brown presents in his books. This specific book imagines a military action in space and on the moon. Looking forward to more in the series.

Eagle Station reminds me of a modernized Moonraker 007 film in book form. Picking up where the last book left off, the USA in partnership with Sky Masters and Scion are playing catch-up in a space race against a China-Russia partnership to set up a moon base. There's a ton of action from start to finish - on the ground, in the air and in outer space. The book never lets up.
Dale Brown brings his usual technical and weapons knowledge to this book to deliver another solidly pleasing techno thriller, blending SciFi weaponry and space travel with feasible geopolitical posturing. Dale Brown delivers exactly what you would expect from his books, a page turning, quick read that is hard to put down.

I picked up this book from the library after reading the cover description. I thought this book was going to be full of action, but man was I wrong. Dale Brown is very descriptive about the different planes and weapons, but all of that detail went way over my head since I know basically nothing about planes and weapons. The book had potential, but just wasn't for me.

I won this book in the giveaway. Packed with action from beginning to end, both on earth and in space! You will feel like you are floating right alongside the characters the entire time. Definitely full of excitement and twists and turns that will keep you on your toes, this novel shows how America must always fight to preserve its freedom and protect itself from enemies that will stop at nothing to destroy it, no matter where.

I was given a copy of this book and asked to give an honest review. It would not usually be my first choice, but I was glad to try something different. The story is full of surprising details and the author surely knows his "stuff" and can put it into words; so that the reader can feel the tension as the plot thickens. Many characters are involved but the author is able to keep track and make it easy to keep up with who is who.
Any reader interested in reading military intrigue would enjoy this book.

I was intrigued to get this book, based on the idea of the development of a US Space Force, which has been in development in reality since 2018. This fictional story takes us through a presupposed situation where instead of the world working together to develop space exploration and development, we have the usual infighting conflict.
A little background them of the story, has to do with Patrick Maclaughlin, who is one of the current people in charge of a specially designed technologically military mercenary group, which takes on jobs that are denied plausibility because of all the regulations to get the process in motion. He started this company because of what happened to his brother Paul and the lack of effective performance of the police, who were hindered by politics to do their job. A very apropos idea in today's 2020 atmosphere.
In this novel, his son, Brad, and new wife Nadia are now part of the company, which has been tasked by the president to find out what the Russian and Chinese have combined resources to do on their supposed lunar "explorations" on the far side of the moon. This is after the occurrence of an interspace attack that resulted in the US Space Force taking control of the space station that the Russians had built a special laser gun that works defensively in space against attackers, which had been built by the Russians to control space. Now after the Americans have gained control of the space station, the Russians and the Chinese decide to combine resources to develop whatever is needed to establish a defensible station on the moon, whose resources they wish to control.
It was fascinating to both descriptions of possible living habitats and creative defensive programs that could be used in an airless environment in a low gravity state. We already have the technology (remember the Space Shuttles), to fly to space and return with the same ship, we are just, thanks to private entrepreneurs, developed the ability to have returnable rockets that boost ships past the earth's gravity. This book discusses the use of our current technology, plus takes the dream potential aim for space exploration a bit further, but how else do we advance new ideas by taking it past the drawing stage. In this fictionalized story, we have already achieved the technology even if it hasn't undergone all the testing to perfect it and it is used to take astronauts/ cosmonauts/ taiconauts back to the moon to both live and defend and attack each other, while under the full knowledge that one mistake means death. The possibility of this become reality made this novel a great read.

This military thriller is filled with fancy flying and shooting, a heart-stopping series of flights to the moon and lunar battles, and tons of military technology and gizmos. The action is intense interspersed with background dialogue, intrigue, and misdirection.
The Russian and Chinese military and political characters are rather two-dimensional when compared with McLanahan and his team of hot-shot flyers and shooters. Nevertheless, the lulls in action provide an opportunity to take a deep breath before the shooting begins again.

Good guys, bad guys, Russians, Chinese, an arms race and.....the moon! I've not read this series and while I like a thriller, this is a military technothriller, which a subgenre I generally don't pick up. Pandemic times call for trying new things and this was one of them. Nadia and Brad are our heroes who will keep the US- and thus everyone else in the world- safe from evil. Outer space has become the territory over which the US, China, and Russia fight, which each one deploying technology (or planning to deploy technology) that will keep the others down. It's to Brown's credit that I understood what the issues were. The inclusion of two good, entertaining characters such as Nadia and Brad, kept me engaged even when I got a little lost in the techno parts. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC, This is a plot driven action ride that would be a perfect travel book but for now will be great at home.

“Eagle Station by Dale Brown, is a military thriller set on Earth, the moon, and in space. There is a lot of technical and military jargon, but the solid story kept my interest. I can totally see this book as a movie. Lovers of military and space fiction, this one is for you.

AS usual, Dale Brown's book is superb! I love that I can just pick up the novel and it follows suit from the prior novel without missing a beat, though it's been quite a while. The story-line was excellent, as was the expertise in which it was presented. I found everything good about this book and no-fault. Cannot wait until the next edition!!

I've read Sale Brown for years. I like all his books so far.
The book has an easy pace that you can follow . It keeps your interest. Coming from a heavy Sci-Fi backround, it's very enjoyable.

Eagle Station carries on the outstanding adventures in this great series. The plot is timely and the characters continue to make for interesting reading. If you're a fan of believable space tales, this is a book not to miss. Can't wait for the next book.

Again, a good military thriller. Since it is set as a contemporary novel (2022-23) I will take the space-related technology as being valid (except for the space robots, but that's canon in the Patrick Universe). Fans of For All Mankind might appreciate this story.

“Eagle Station” is a typical Dale Brown novel with a can’t put it down tight storyline and edge of your seat action! Some of the characters are carried over from his previous books...but this is a stand alone story. The plot is futuristic, fast paced and very believable. It will hook you on Dale Brown books so get ready for a great ride!
