Jayne Frost #7

Miss Frost Says I Do

Rate this book
Welcome to the North Pole, the town where Christmas is everyone’s job.

Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost's daughter, Santa Claus's niece, heir to the Winter Throne and soon to be newlywed.

Now that she and fiancé Sinclair (and their cats, Spider and Sugar) have moved back to the North Pole, they’re firmly entrenched in planning their wedding. With Jayne’s royal heritage, it’s a major undertaking.

And while Jayne is trying to organize the myriad details, Sinclair is taking the necessary classes to learn how to be a royal and adjust to his impending new life as Prince Consort. But with too much assistance from her well-meaning mother and aunt, Jayne quickly gets overwhelmed.

Sinclair suggests calling a friend to help, the ever-resourceful Birdie Caruthers. Jayne does, and Birdie is thrilled to pitch in. Not long after she arrives, however, the trio discovers the most terrible thing in the wedding carriage.

Will this dreadful discovery derail the wedding? Or can they solve the problem in time to make it to the altar unscathed? Make no bones about it, this is some serious trouble.

I’ve spent so many books with Jayne Frost now that each one feels like coming back to chat with an old friend. In book seven, Jayne is getting married to Sinclair up in the North Pole. There are disastrous dress fittings. Her mom and aunt want to be a bit too involved (because of course) and when Bertie Caruthers come up to help with the planning and they go to inspect the royal coach, they find… duh duh duh… a skeleton. So now we have a bit of wedding planning, a bit of mystery. And wherever Jayne goes, tons of food. That winter elf likes her sugar! The story turned away from wedding plans for a while as the mystery was investigated. There was a mysterious disease similar to Black Lung in miners, but for snow elves, a mother and son, old equipment that hasn’t been used in decades… the mystery gradually unfolded! And of course, lots of time with cats! I liked how this mystery had plenty of surprises. We finally got to meet Sinclair’s family, and the wedding was sweet. This was a great (maybe?) conclusion to the series, though I confess I wouldn’t mind seeing more cozy mysteries. This series and the Nocturne Falls books are my favorites.

Miss Frost Says I Do and Spider Too by Kristen Painter

7th book in the Jayne Frost paranormal mystery series.
Birdie is recruited to help with Jayne and Sinclair’s wedding at the palace at the North Pole.
As a special treat, Birdie visits Santa Claus at the toy factory and even takes a trip down the slides. Before the wedding plans can be finalized, the found skeleton needs to be identified and the killer caught.

A lighthearted mystery with Jayne and Birdie in their usual sleuthing mode. The wedding plans are part of the romance of the story but the mystery is the driving factor.
Best read as part of the series.

Do you believe in Santa, the elves and the North Pole toy factory? You might after this story but don’t get me wrong - it is not a story for children because, hello, dead person and killer to be found.
I enjoyed the lightness and fun of the characters, and talking cats.

At the beginning of the Jayne Frost series (Miss Frost Solves a Cold Case), Princess Jayne is insecure about her place in the world and doesn't know what she's going to do with her life until it's her time to ascend to the winter throne. Then she moves to Nocturne Falls, Georgia, on a secret undercover mission for her father, Jack Frost. She makes friends, falls in love (more than once), and realizes her potential as the manager of Santa's Workshop toy store. Now, things shift again, as Jayne and fiance Sinclair are leaving Nocturne Falls behind and becoming permanent North Pole residents as they plan for their wedding. Naturally, since this is a mystery, they discover a skeleton in the Royal Carriage and have little time to help the police solve the murder before the trouble ruins her wedding.

Jayne is still the same sweet, spunky Winter Elf she has been for the book series, and the addition of Birdie Carruthers brings a bit of Nocturne Falls to the North Pole, but the setting makes it feel like it's not really a Nocturne Falls book. I like the North Pole and the new characters, but I miss Nocturne Falls. I like how Spider the talking cat saves the day, and overall the writing is very good, I just wish there was more Nocturne Falls.

What a great ending to the series!! Miss Frost Says I Do and Spider Too is book 7 in the Jayne Frost series. This is the final book of the series.

In this book, we see Jayne struggling with the stress of wedding planning. She and Sinclair call in reinforcements, in the form of their friend Birdie from Nocturne Falls, to help organize everything and to act as a buffer against Jayne's well intentioned mom & aunt who have visions far exceeding what Jayne wants. Of course, no Jayne Frost book is complete without a mystery so they end up having to solve a murder along the way.

I loved this book and the entire series. I actually happened upon Miss Frost Solves a Cold Case, book 1, as well as the rest of the series in the included with my membership catalog of Audible and thought I'd give it a try. I'm so glad I did because I hadn't heard of the author before so these books weren't even on my radar otherwise. A couple of books into this series, I discovered that this the series is actually a spin off from another series the author wrote called Nocturne Falls. Of course, after meeting many of the characters from the town in these books, I decided that I have to read that entire series too. I've already listened to book 1 and will be binging that entire series in the coming month.

This series has a lot of humor in it. I found myself laughing out loud with each book. It had a lot of good moments that made me smile like a loon, and it also had some really great and fun mysteries. I really liked that with these books, I was able to work through the clues to solve the crimes along with the characters and the solutions weren't obvious. There were different possibilities and once it was solved, it all made sense. I really got invested in the town and the characters. I really loved that the main character was Jack Frost's daughter, heir to the Winter Throne, and also Santa's niece.

The whole series was read by the same narrator. She did a good job. There was one character voice, Juniper's, that I wasn't totally fond of but the rest were good. I really enjoyed being able to know the characters by voice since they were the same in each book.

I highly recommend this series. Even though I listened to the audiobooks, I am planning to get physical copies of the books to add to my home library.

2019 bk 407. Loved it!, It ranks up there with book #1 as my favorites of the series. I'm not big on weddings (a childhood/teenage years when on any given weekend I would be called to get dressed up and go witness an eloping couple being married by my father made me a little jaded at an early age.) but this was a well-done wedding, a wonderful mystery, and so much fun! I love Sugar's collar and wish I had one for my sister's cat.

What every princess needs - a skeleton found in the royal wedding coach - not!

Jayne and Sin are back at the North Pole getting ready for their wedding. But first they have to solve a murder. Jayne is going into melt down over her mother, the Queen, and aunt, Mrs Santa, constant (and they think helpful) interfering in the wedding plans. The list of things that Jayne has to sign off on is never ending, and Sin is busy studying how to be a royal - so much history and protocol, so little time.

Wedding planning, Murder solving and lots of cake - another magical adventure for Winter Elf Princess.

This is a terrific addition to the Jayne Frost mystery series, I did not want to put it down. The author has deftly blended the romance of a wedding with the mystery of a murder into one intriguing story. I enjoyed following along as the characters tried to finalize preparations for the wedding and solve the mystery. I’m hoping for more with these great characters.

In this final novel of the Jayne Frost series, Ms. Painter brings her heroine to her fairy tale wedding, with one last mystery to solve along the way. The mystery itself quickly becomes transparent, but I think that it was never really more than a subplot for the author. This is a book about wedding dresses and dreams and how much her heroine and her boyfriend really care about each other. For good measure, she throws in a lot of cutesy cat stuff as well.

There isn’t much of substance in this last book, but I think that Painter can be forgiven for putting so many pages into the preparation for the wedding. After all, she’s spent seven books and a short story getting to this point and it certainly sounds like she’s planning to end the series with this happily ever after.

Well although shorter then the others in both page count and the mystery all the romance and wedding stuff kept me interested. I wish we saw more off his mum with her being a zombie and all. I loved the cat wedding too. That was sweet. Overall a nice cliche finish to a series but hay nothing lasts for ever.

Look, I realize I have complained extensively about the excess of realism in paranormal romance. I like my books with an HEA. But someone who has a perfect life, a perfect boyfriend without a single flaw, a perfect body, a perfect family, a royal title, no self-esteem or relationship issues and for whom everything seems to come easily and/or fall into place perfectly is completely unrelatable. While I like Sinclair, I keep waiting for the story to settle so his personality will seep through the cracks… but it never does. He’s blandly perfect. Just like Jayne is shallowly dating him with no sense of deeper connection or emotion. But I really love the world of Nocturne Falls, Kristen Painter’s writing, and the concept of Spider the talking cat, so here we are.

Basically, these books are like frosting – not deep, and too sweet for extensive consumption, but satisfying if you’re in the mood.

I’m only giving this book 3.5 stars because I felt like the ‘murder mystery’ part was just an incidental part of the story. The planning of the wedding was boring to me. And may I say, once again, that the reader makes Jayne whine way too much. Worse than a toddler. And honestly, Jayne had nothing to whine about in this book. (Or in any of the other books, really) Plus I miss Nocturne Falls. Jayne and Sinclair should be living there, and only visiting the North Pole. Ok, that’s my 2 cents.

Loved it, just like all the Miss Frost books. I saved this for when I really needed a book I knew I'd enjoy. It provided the escape I needed. Thanks to the author. :)

Yay! Great ending to a really fun series! Not going to give away any spoilers because you just have to start at the beginning but suffice it to say that this series came at exactly the right time and it was perfect for the holidays. The mystery was well done in this one, but I loved that the wedding was just as big a part of this story--it's one of the things this series has been building towards. I love Jayne and Sin together and their cats are great! And Birdie to the rescue--yay! I was so glad she was a large part of this book. I wasn't so sure about her when she was first introduced, but she has definitely become one of my favorite characters. And I love this version of Jack Frost because he is usually depicted as a powerful and not so nice guy and I was in the mood for a Jack Frost who is a true family guy. If you're looking for a lighthearted cosy mystery, this is the series for you.

I just returned to Nocturne Falls for the final book: Miss Frost Says I Do.
Actually, I went to the North Pole as that's where the story took place.
Jane Frost: Niece of Santa Clause and daughter of Jack Frost, the Winter King, is getting married to her fiancé, a necromancer.
They go to sign off on the royal carriage that will take Jane to the wedding, and both of them back to the palace. Only upon the inspection process, they find a skeleton in the carriage.
Then Jane finally gets to meet Sin's parents for the first time.
That's an entirely different story in itself.
A few laughs and an almost thirty-year-old murder case that needs to be solved so the couple can have the wedding they want.
It wouldn't hurt my feelings if
Kristen Painter put out another book in this series.
I missed the characters and the interactions that made them real to me.

Series: Jayne Frost #7
Rating: 5 stars - I loved it!

Jayne and Sinclair have moved to the North Pole and are deep into planning their wedding. Jayne is trying to figure out the details of the wedding and her mother and her aunt are making things worse. In desperate need of help, she calls Birdie Caruthers to help wrangle her family and figure out the rest of the wedding. But will a cold case derail the wedding.

I loved this one! Jayne and Sinclair are a perfect couple and detective duo. They lean on each other when they are overwhelmed and know they can rely on each other for anything. Their wedding, and all the hullabaloo leading up to it, just strengthened the bond between these two and made their love stronger. Also their cats are just adorable and I loved their addition in the wedding.

Also we get more Birdie content finally! Birdie is the perfect person to help Jayne plan her wedding and she is also very helpful during the case. Birdie is one of my favorite characters in the Nocturne Falls series and I love that she is also in this series. I really wish she had her own series or book.

Overall, this was an amazing ending to this series. Jayne and Sinclair have had quite a few adventures in this series and I know this won’t be their last adventure.

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
It was a great book!
Jayne's big day is approaching, and she is going crazy with the wedding preparations.
Sinclair wants to help, but he is busy himself with all the classes to prepare him to be a consort for Jayne.
To prevent a complete meltdown, she is almost there, she asks for Birdie's help.
Birdie is a master in organization.
With Birdie in North Pole, Jayne has 1 less thing to worry about.
Now, about the skeleton found in the carriage house, that is a different story.
What is Jayne to do when there is a mystery afoot ?
You know Jayne.
She can never pass a chance to solve a good mystery.
Of course, Spider is along for the ride. So cute!
The characters + storytelling were very captivating
It has all the ingredients that you need for an awesome book!
I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Jayne Frost has many roles to play as Winter elf, Jack Frost's daughter, Santa Claus's niece, heir to the Winter Throne and soon to be a newlywed! She and her fiancé, Sinclair, along with their cats, Spider and Sugar, are back at the North Pole and plans are erupting. Birdie Caruthers even jumps in on the planning, so you know you are going to love every minute of it… well, most of the minutes anyway! Because a gruesome discovery tosses a mystery into the wedding planning and things get very busy!

I absolutely love this series and am never disappointed by the wonderful stories. The author reliably gives us well-written books, a well-paced story line, and characters we have known and loved to provide for our entertainment. Adding a mystery kept the story intriguing and kept the reader’s full attention. Grab your copy and enjoy this wonderful story. It’s like visiting your family and being treated like a treasured member!

The perfect mystery for a perfect wedding

I loved this book so much. My favorite thing about it was how there was so much on solving the mystery of the death. When I started the book, I was thinking it would be mainly about the wedding, which would’ve been good too. But there were equal parts mystery and wedding. It blended in so well together that it was all so perfect. I’m not sure any other author could’ve pulled it all off so well. I adored meeting all the staff at the North Pole. The best part was that Birdie was there to plan the wedding! If nothing else, you should read this for her character. She is a hoot. Of course, there’s some special moments with Spider and Sugar.

I absolutely loved this book. Not only was there a Wedding or two but there is a bit of mystery thrown in as well. And how cute is Spider and Sugar? I mean seriously. Sin and Jayne are just too cute together. And I was so glad that Jayne finally got to meet the family. Can't wait to see what is up next for this couple.

Pleasantly surprised that we got this book because I thought the Jayne series might end when she moved back to the North Pole. Good to see that's not the case. Not sure if the author will continue after *this*, but I'll be there for it if she does.
