Author of sixteen novels for children and young adults, most recently LAST DAY ON MARS, BREAKOUT, and the ATLANTEANS series. His books have been published in ten different countries. Formerly a science teacher and a creative writing teacher, Kevin is also a singer and drummer. He has won a spelling bee, lost a beauty pageant, and once appeared in a Swedish TV commercial.
This is a book that is based on the Netflix series. They are quick reads as they are aimed more towards children. That being said they are enjoyable for adults. In this one, we are stranded on that planet which we saw in the second season. Will finds a friend. The problem is that the Robinsons are suppose to be the only ones on this planet. Who is this strange girl?
This is a quick read and it is a fun time. I did enjoy the first book of this series a little more. The author has definitely watched the show as he nails the characters and the atmosphere. One could easily get a sense of Will and how he misses the Robot. I thought the first half of the book was just okay. It kept on reminding myself of another work but for the life of me I cannot recall which one. The second half finally went in a different direction and that is when my enjoyment picked up. I loved the finale and the role one character particularly played.
Like I said this was a quick read and fun. If you are a fan of the show I think you will have a great time with the two books of this series. If you are not a fan I am not so sure. All I know is that I have not watched season three yet but these books have made me realize that I have to do that sooner than later.
a big feeling broke like a wave in me, and i balled my fists and wanted to scream. why did things have to end? why did friends have to leave you? why couldn’t the good things keep going on, being good, the way they always were right before you realized how good they were? right before you understood that they couldn’t last.…
My daughter read a few chapters then insisted I read to where she is so we can talk about the book. So this book is a little more special to me because I got to share the experience with my eldest <3
Anyways this book was a nice break from what's going on in the world right now and I feel like the author stepped up his writing from the last lost in space, now I am looking forward to his next books. This one is focused on Will and what he is going through, then he finds a friend, well he thinks. This was just a fun book that was fast-paced and full of fun and adventure with some interesting twist.
There isn't really anything mind-blowingly different from other science fiction books but there was certainly a fresh perspective and nothing was 'that' obvious.
I 1000% recommend this to anyone that is missing the show, it definitely helped me deal with lack fo new LIS episodes.
you have no chance of understanding the book if you haven't seen the netflix series tho (btw I love it, Will Robinson will always be on my hear me out list)
This was a super fun read. Mr. Emerson does a good job of keeping the characters in line with the canon of the TV show. The story line is well thought out, complex, and yet easy to read and follow. The pace is fast but there are no holes in the plot. Its well thought out, well written and just a fun story. I would highly recommend both of Mr. Emerson's, 'Lost in Space', movie-tie in books. They are also kid friendly with no foul language or inappropriate situations.
I am kind of obsessed with this book. Lost in Space is my favourite TV show and I am a huge fan of the Robinson family. Will has a special place in my heart because he goes through so much emotionally and mentally. I feel so bad for him. This book was not kind to him but I loved reading about his family and exploring this world (which I did see in the TV show). It was such a fun, easy read that I got through in about half an hour. I highly recommend to people who are a fan of the show.
It was the kind of book that you can't put down. I ended up reading late into the night and finishing it because around every corner there was a new twist! Kind of a thriller, sci-fi twist that I thought worked out perfectly! I loved the first book, but this one blew me away. I highly highly suggest reading it!
This was so good! It was so much better than the first one imho, the stakes were much higher and I really felt for the new character Clare!! despite not being particularly scary this was super high suspense, 10/10 pacing. overall, a really good time!
This LiS time-travel yarn takes place while the Robinsons are stranded on the water planet (during season 2 in the Netflix series). Will manages to not focus on scratching an odd patch of fungus or something growing on his neck and suits up to go beach combing. A high tide reveals a new sand berm and when Will explores it, a girl appears!
Thirteen-year-old Clare is traveling via hologram / avatar through an anomaly in the space-time continuum as her family flees the explosion of a star in their spaceship. She's actually alive a thousand years before the Robinsons' mission and Earth's surface is polluted to the point of no-return.
Will's lonely for a friend, which Clare seems to be, and there's no harm in being friends with someone who's been long-dead, is there? And she and her spaceship's AI, Alina, need Will's help to save her "family."
Except…all is not as Will thinks it is.
Penny's there to watch her lil' bro's back, even though he doesn't ask nor want her to, so when the acid liquid sea threatens to swallow the fort he builds with "help" from Clare, Penny's there to save his rear-end. And videotape him hugging… the empty air.
Big sis Judy injects him with something to help with the rash that's rapidly spreading on his skin, and again, without his family looking out for him, Will and all the Robinsons would be toast.
I won't reveal the twist, just know the dead can be very dangerous in this awesome space opera tale! Enjoy.

Enjoyed this more than the first, which in liked too. It was very reminiscent of Red Dwarf I thought in places. Fab concept and loved all the characters were more involved, even including Dr Smith and Don, unlike the first one and kept identical to the TV show.
