Who doesn't want to start on the path of self-discovering themselves, especially when they have no idea where to begin? This is definitely one of those books and to boot as an extra it is also a journal that is written by a licensed psychologist who does the next best thing to her office by walking you through step-by-step in delving the depths of yourself.
What I love about this book is that it is so in-depth and covers a large array of topics. Each topic is given a nice introduction into the subject then plenty of space to write out, draw or do whatever creative thing allows you to free yourself in expression. And when it isn't a introduction leading exercise it is an activity that asks one to explore further while giving examples of how to do so or providing powerfully inspiring quotes from strong female leads.
The illustrations are beautiful, detailed and not very brightly colored but rather a bit subdued. I can understand that some of this would be to make sure they don't take the journaler's attention away from the importance of the subject matter but it would have been nice to have a bit more color separation as the book attemped to do in its muted colors.
So the few things that I did find to be a bit off kilter for me was the fact that I am a writer and I feel more comfortable with lined paper. Unfortunately even on the letter writing activity there wasn't even a few lines but I also understand the open spots give more creative expression for those who don't like lines.
And finally one last thing that I see that throws the book off just a smidge is the fact that it is focused on only female readers even though there is no suggestion on the back description or the cover that would imply that. At this point I am guessing strong reviews and the location of the journal will make sure to keep it in the female section but what about guys who may be interested. Certainly they may have their own journal that I don't know about or they can probably use this one while definitely overlooking the female-focus.
All in all I think it is a nice journal and a very insightful one for those who don't mind doing a little self-exploration of themselves. I would probably most definitely recommend it for teen girls still in high school, most especially, but an older female audience would also benefit from the wisdom found in these pages.

This journal gives prompts for writing about certain themes including, self-awareness, values, identity, confidence, emotions, spirituality, health, family, relationships, community, career, passions, goals, life purpose, and dreams.
The most basic prompts say things like, "Today I'm grateful for...", "Today I learned....", "My biggest fear is..." But the journal quickly gets into more deep questions and more complex prompts about times when you had the confidence to stand up yourself, how you felt when you solved a difficult problem, and what relationships give your life meaning.
The book is peppered with gorgeous illustrations in soft muted colors with inspirational quotes from famous people like Emma Watson, Audrey Hepburn, and Helen Keller.
I really love the design of this book, and the overall tone of encouragement and introspection! The whole journal is full of such pretty colors and artwork; it makes me want to write in it all the time!

The art in this journal is simple and beautiful. It’s not overwhelming and there is lots of space to write, draw, etc. I think this journal is best suited for someone who feels lost or is just beginning their journey of personal growth and empowerment. It’s a cute journal, but I’ll be passing it along to someone who will get more out of it than me.

A new-release journal (April 2020) that fits the growing need for journals, with encouragement, lots of tips and prompts on personal reflection and mindfulness. See also: Self Care Check-In: A Guided Journal Build Healthy Habits and Devote Time to You, by GG Renee Hill.
This was a long journey with myself. The questions I had to ask myself were soul searching, and at times, poetic. It's just another self discovery journal, but I now know a lot more about myself than I did before reading and filling out this book.
