4.5 Begging for More Stars!

It warms the cold heart to see how happy Stephen and Crane are, getting snippets of what they’ve been up to as Stephen writes a letter to his dear friend Esther.

I’ll say it again, I love this series, and I’m soooooo sad there’s not more and that needs to be rectified because these two have an unfathomable amount of possible adventures awaiting them, and I would be the first in line to consume whatever Charles should deign to dole out!

I can't believe I missed this before but this sweet little bit has made my day. I love the book people so much, and it makes me happy to see them happy. 🥰

Available as a free read when one signs up for Author Charles's newsletter. Stephen and Lucien have been traveling the world, happily re/visiting many ports of call, and the way biology works they're about to enter an entirely new port in a city new to them all. Jenny and Merrick are having a baby! In Nagasaki!

We'll ignore the fact that the newborn is in for a rough few days in fifty-odd years.

Anyway, Author Charles offers us this lovely semi-epistolary adieu to the lovely world of Lucien and Stephen, and it is as always a pleasure to read as well as a very deft coda to a series that won my heart from page one. For heavens' sake, don't read it unless you've already read the novels! It won't have much impact but it will spoil the hell out of the experience you *should* already be bookhorning into your TBR.

“I am as happy as it is possible for a man to be.”

A tender and heart-warming epilogue that gives a soft closure to Lord Crane's extended family of four, now happily Five for Heaven - which, honestly, it was now for them. Set three years after the events of the final book, it was lovely to see everyone again, settled and happy in Nagasaki. 🥰

Time together has in no means diminished the love and affection Crane and Stephen have for each other, it's only blossomed into something more - something akin to family. And having Merrick and Jenny along for the ride, it only added to their happiness of having the freedom to simply be themselves - without fear or concern. 🫶🏻

“Those were my friends, but I do know, sweet boy. Sometimes it’s enough simply to be; sometimes we need to do.”

Stephen loved him in many moods—the generous giver, the domineering lover—but he sometimes thought this was how he loved Lucien most, in the moments of clear understanding, without passion or judgement or self.

When he felt entirely seen, and known.”

An ending that was so very precious - so lovable and perfectly in time with them - the closure that they had always wanted for their family - and a satisfying well-earned conclusion to a wonderful series. 🌟

9 pages??? Who the hell cares if I get the update of Lucian and Stephen's lives, three years after the epilogue.

Both of them along with Merrick and Saint in Japan and the birth of Lucy deserves all the stars.💕💕

Another little nougat of love from KJ Charles to all of us who read/listened/love Lucian and Stephen .

Five For Heaven takes place three years after the events of book 3 . Jenny and Merrick are now living in Nagasaki with Stephen and Lucian where they're planning to stay for a while.

This is the final adieu to this wonderful couple.

This final epilogue was available when registering to KJ's newsletter and can be now found as a free read in her Facebook Group.

Stephen, Lucien, Merrick and Jenny have been enjoying themselves in the east, now spending a bit of time in Japan where they are considering to make a new home for more than just the four of them. It was sweet getting this glimpse of them. I was wondering how it would be for the world traveler Lucien together with Stephen who has never left England. I wan't worried and I shouldn't have been they guys are great together and they are sure to have many more adventures together.

This was like getting a letter from an old group of friends a few years down the track and it was heartwarming to see where the group are at three years later! In such a short and sweet writing there's still so much character in the main four and the thing I've always loved about Lucien and Stephen is that they are a couple that communicate and discuss their feelings rather than just snipe at eachother like some other book couples lol!

A quick, fun check-in with the Magpie quartet three years later. Admittedly I would have been much more interested in where Jonah & Ben or Ned & Crispin are at, but for fans of Stephen and Lucien, this should be a treat :)

I found out by chance just now that this epilogue exists, even though I'm part of K.J. Charles' group. It's a glimpse in the life of Stephen, Lucien, Jenny and Merrick, three years after the last book, as they are in Japan. In part it's in form of a letter written by Stephen. It shows them very happy, and that makes me - in turn - very happy!

Thank you, K.J. Charles!

I really don't know what you perceive as a fine ending of a series you suddenly ended up loving so much it took you two days to read but for me it's definitely bursting into tears as I finish reading. Not because it's sad or I'm unhappy it ended. It's because I have so many Emotions. It happened here, I'm satisfied. I loved how it wrapped so many plots into a delicious conclusion, the title alone makes me tear up even now and it was all I wanted and more.

Now I feel like possessing something with a magpie myself...

Oh my, it was amazing reading Stephen's point of view as he writes a letter to Es about their life in Japan.
I love that Marrick finally has a child and can overcome his previous trauma with Saint.
Amazing ending to this story.

An absolutely darling epilogue to the story of settling down again after travels and making a new life with hints of the old. Very sweet!
