Sprung Like Spring #4

Guarding Murphy

Rate this book
I'm not the best at picking men. I always seem to end up with jerks. Controlling jerks, abusive jerks, jerks that only want one thing. You name the jerk flavor and I've probably tas… okay that wasn't where I was planning on going with that. When an obsessive ex won't leave me alone, I enlist my super-hot, super interesting neighbor to protect me, and end up going on a road trip I would have never expected in a million years. I've wanted Fisher practically since I met him, but with all his tattoos, piercings and confidence, he's like a walking billboard for cool and edgy, while I'm… well, boring is probably the word used most often to describe me. I just don't see someone like him being interested in someone like me, no matter how cozy we have to get in the sleeper of his truck.

When the cute, dorky little omega that lives next door seems to be having trouble with his ex, there is no way I can let the guy go unprotected. But I'm a truck driver, and typically don't get to spend much time at home. It's pretty clear the only way I'm going to be able to keep Murphy safe is if I take him with me. I know it's a horrible idea. I should definitely let one of his many, many family members come take care of him, but the temptation of all that close proximity in my truck proves to be too much, and I drag him along with me, knowing good and well that I can't keep him. A man like him needs permanency and security, and I'm a truck driver that spends more time on the road than I do at home. I have no business wanting him the way I do, but I do. I definitely do.

Guarding Murphy is book four in my new lighthearted, Omegaverse Sprung Like Spring novella series. These books can be read as stand-alones, but getting to know the overlapping characters will make it worth reading in order. There will be fluff, humor and probably some pining, so sit back, relax and take a break from the horrors of reality!

This was a cute addition to the series if a bit rushed. Murphy and Fisher are neighbors and both crushing on the other thinking there's no chance for them. A road trip in Fisher's Semi turns everything around.

The scene in the truck was hilarious. Just what I needed at the moment. Things were a bit rushed and I felt like I was missing a few chapters, but it was still a cute fun read.

A reread of a cute MM trucker romance.

Third reread. Enjoyable, but this time I was more aware of, and bothered by, the too many intrusive cousins who all lacked filters. The scenes with them were short. This really is a lightweight romance. Nice MCs, though.

This was short, fun and quite cute. I liked both mcs and again liked how the family is always involved.
These are very quick and light hearted reads.
What bucked me once again ist that they didn’t really talk about things. Come on not using a condom and caring if you get pregnant without talking with your partner about it, is not the right way.

I almost snorted soda out my nose with this book. 😱😂 Fair warning about the road trip, that Fisher brings Murphy on. You will laugh until you cry and keep on turning pages to see what other ridiculous things will happen.

The further I get into this series, the more I want to know what happens next.

Only reason gave a four is because Fisher has beard and mustache and I can't deal with those on a guy. This book was so funny. There were two moments that I just busted out laughing and I was in place where people wouldn't have understood the funny about this so had make something up. If you've read this you'll know about the CB moment and the masturbating in the back of the tractor trailer and what happened.

Murphy is caught hiding on Fisher's porch in nothing but his see through wet tightie whities one day and Fisher wonders what's going on. Turns out Murphy's ex won't leave him alone and has already hurt him once. So Fisher tells Murphy that he's going on the road with him since Fisher drives tractor-trailer.

Boy do they have some fun together and lots of hot sex that's for sure. This book was mpreg and those moments of knotting were hot as well. I am a sucker for these type books IDK just something that's so wonderful and wholesome about it.

They ended up having a baby and was same day as one of Murphy's cousin's baby because he went into labor trying to get his child from a window in the room while Murphy was in labor. Can't wait to read the next ones. Might be sad when I finish cause only got like 4 left I think.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:
A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series
from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year),
it's like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok)
It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the
whole line, dismissed, repeat the class

Tattoos, trucks, and an adorkable nerd... need I say more!

What a great addition to the Bodyguard Mpreg series. I fell in love with the characters from page one. They pulled me into their lives and made me care about them. This book has a crazy ex, a tattooed trucker with a protective nature, a nerdy writer with a potty mouth, quirky family, and old man underwear. What's not to love!
Murphy loves tattoos, even though he doesn't have any. He really wants to touch his neighbor's tats. Fisher wants to protect the little omega from his ex. So, one restraining order later, and a road trip in his semi it is. As they travel together, they become quite close.
In spite of interfering family with good intentions, Fisher & Murphy find their HEA. There is mpreg galore. You will love this book!
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

Flawed, but more to my liking.

The last entry in this series really shook my confidence in this author, but Fisher and Murphy had a lot more going for them than Frost and Riker. I have some issues with the plot, like wtf was Nate doing with a key to Murphy's place if Murphy claimed they hadn't really been boyfriends and Nate had never even spent the night? It makes the beginning of the story so contrived that it almost took me completely out of it. There were a few minor grammar issues indicating another rush to publish, the comedy in a few places was just cringe, but I loved Fisher and overall enjoyed this one. It's really more a 3.5 star read, but it's definitely enough to renew my enthusiasm for the series.

Pre-review: Could someone please leave a comment explaining to me when it is appropriate to use 3 quotation marks in 1 sentence... just checking for future reference! LOL!!!

As for Murphy and Fisher's story, it was, of course, ADORABLE!!! Jumped into the epilogue rather abruptly, but hey, life happens! *grin*

Just saw that there is a book 5, soooo.... moving on! ;D

Hilarious and Heartwarming

I laughed so hard and so long my family thought I had lost it. I couldn't believe what I was reading of Murphy trying to take care of his personal needs behind the curtain and ended up flying out and into Fisher's face and lap. This was a very fun read, and know I will most likely laugh at Riker and Casey's story as much as I did in this one.

I want to give this story a much higher rating, but the last half of the book reads like a montage. I'm missing the narrative that started so well. These two are great together and I wanted more of Fish interacting with Murphy's family. The teaser we had of Fish in the previous book made me think there was more to come and I was looking forward to it. I'm just let down is all.

I love this series!

If you like mpreg, then you will love this book. It is laugh out loud funny. It dies get embarrassing explaining to my hubby what I am giggling at. Fisher is a long haul truck driver, and the scene with Murphy will have me still giggling in the old folks home as I rock in my rocker. The book is an HEA and leads in to the next.

Murphy and Fisher

I absolutely loved this light and funny romance by J.D. Light. These two characters had me laughing out loud at Murphy's antics and Fisher's thoughts. While this is a stand alone, I would highly recommend reading in order as the characters from the previous stories pop up.

I did not want to write a review. But you insist. It was okay ! Because you are forcing me to write this. I will not read another book by this person. If they have to force someone to do this they suck!

I would not recommend this book anyone. I have tried to skip this but it won't let me continue workout writing.

The series seems to get better with every book

The first book was ok, but with each book the writing gets better. I really enjoyed this one and it made me laugh often. Though the author still hasn’t figured out transitions between scenes. Meh, I still like it. And the books say they’re stand alone, but they aren’t bread in order is best.

What just happened?

This book was going so good, I actually had to stoo myself from laughing out load quite a few times with Murphy's antics. But then the last few chapters it was like the author was like "And......I'm done."
Made the last few chapters hard to follow and it just ended so abruptly. Could have been so much better, it was on its way to a 5 star!

Fisher and Murphy have a sweet chemistry that almost makes up for the fact that the story is a bit rushed. Light's characters all seem to have that insta-attraction, and these two are no different. But at this point, it kind of feels like she is counting off tropes. We've had friends to lovers, the manny/boss and now body guard/guardee.
Still, Light makes it work. It's fun, fluffy comedy.

Funny

Murphy is too much. The scene in the truck will, have me laughing for days. I can't stop thinking about it. I'm not sure Fisher knows what he is getting into. With Murphy's family. They will eat you alive.

So good!!

Four books in and I'm still hollering at the antics of this family. Poor Fisher never knew what hit him with Murphy and his crazy family, LOL!! Loved Murphy and Fisher. I thought Fisher was going to be too much for Murphy, but Murphy held his own. Loving this series!

These books are seriously funny. Murphy falling onto Fisher in the truck cab has to be one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. I was laughing so hard I was crying! I do wish they were longer. Not because I feel like anything is rushed or left out but geeze I’ve read 4 books today!

This was awesome. I’m always smiling and laughing when I read these. It’s great getting to see how these guys see the other characters. Man imagine Tanner’s point of view before he became one of them lol.

Murphy is an adorable Omega and Fisher is great. I love that he is so observant at times and completely clueless others. Can't wait for more books.

2.5 stars? Not badly written by any means, but way too many typos and as a whole it just felt very disjointed. As another reviewer mentioned, it feels like half the story is missing.
