My son just vanished into thin air… from a commercial jet cruising at 30,000 feet.
The forces that took him aren't of this world.
I've barely recovered from the revelations that my boss is a vampire and magic is real. Now my child has been kidnapped by Fae who want to rule humanity, and I've acquired powers I can't control.
Blowing doors off their hinges and starting fires with the power of my mind won't help me find Jace. For that, I'll have to trust a man—a vampire—with emotional walls as tall and thick as Fort Knox.
The answers I need won't be found on Earth—but to save my son, I'm ready to brave a realm that drives humans mad. I've been set adrift in a terrifying new world of monsters and magic. Adrift, but not alone. Somehow, I've gained a misfit family among the living and undead.
Just as well, because at this rate, it looks like I'm going to need them.

Vampire Bound is a new urban fantasy romance series by R. A. Steffan, set in the same world as the bestselling series The Last Vampire. Download Book Two today, and enter a world shared by humans, fae, demons, and vampires. It’s a place where the supernatural threatens the mundane, nothing is as it seems, and love will either be the world’s downfall—or its salvation.
USA Today bestselling author R. A. Steffan lives in New Mexico, where the sunsets paint the mountains purple, and roadrunners roam the desert endlessly in search of their coyote victims. When she’s not busy writing stories about people loving each other in all sorts of different and interesting ways, she can be found taking care of her small menagerie of critters.
A rebel to the core, she is currently sticking it to the man by illegally harvesting graywater from the kitchen and bathroom sinks to water trees outside. This fearless disregard for societal norms extends to her writing, as well. There, you will find polyamory along with straight, gay, bisexual, and non-gender conforming love of all flavors. You will also find families of choice, profound friendships, adventure, danger, and good triumphing over evil.
That, and sex. Lots of sex. Most of which is not the vanilla variety.
I really want to like this story, because I enjoyed the first series a lot. But I find the one on one interactions between Guthrie and Vonnie to be boring and awkward. They have zero chemistry whatsoever. But if you have them interact with any other character such as Rensley,Zorah, Len,Edward or even Nigellus either alone or together and the story picks up and holds my Interest. Other than that I find myself skimming over pages until one of those characters appears. I am glad that Albigard makes it back into the story near the end, he along with Rensley are my two favorite characters. And is the only reason that would keep me interested enough to read book three.
Vonnie's son, Jace, has been taken by the Fae and she believes it was with evil intent. Still learning to use and control her magic, Vonnie is determined to find her son and bring him home! WARNING...THIS BOOK ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER! Which is why I couldn't give it a 5-star rating. I HATE cliffhangers!
The plot is good and the author weaves a good tale. The characters are strong and have depth. The surprises (and fights) come fast and furious!
I must admit that Edward and not Leonides is my favorite male character. I LOVE how he helps and guides Vonnie with her life and magic.
Note: I have no picture in my mind of who or what Vonnie looks like but Leonides (in my mind) looks like a YOUNG Frank Langella. :) Edward looks like Ricardo Montaband during his Fantasy Island television days. :)
Anyone reading book one in this series should also read this (book 2). And of course, ending on a cliffhanger, readers are going to have to read book 3. :(
A cliffhanger like only R. A. Steffan knows how to do I was looking forward to the second instalment of Vampire Bound and devoured it in a couple of hours. It goes by fast; there's magical training, chase sequences, entering the Fae world... we still have no definitive answers yet as per what's happening, but more and more pieces are falling into place. Also, those who loved Albigard from The Last Vampire books will be pleased to see him again here, especially interacting with another favorite character... (no spoilers, but I'm still rooting for an enemies-to-lovers romance). Of course the main romance moves at a slower pace, but it was immensely satisfying to see Vonnie give into her needs and Leonides' cool facade crack a little — if only for a night or so. And now we wait for Vampire Bound 3, out in September!
Vonnie has just got used to the fact she has magic and now she has to learn how to control it so she can save her Son. Nigelus’s butler Edward comes to help her control her magic I love him he’s such a sweetheart. Nigelus tell Leonides that someone is kidnapping children and he wants him to look into it but he’s reluctant to do it until Nigelus dangles a carrot so to speak. Leonides and Vonnie go to the Fae realm to try and find Jace and find out what happened to an old friend but they come away with only one of those. I don’t want to spoil things for you so you will have to listen yourselves you won’t be disappointed but this book does end in a cliff hanger.
The book lost half a star due to cliffhanger ending. I don't like cliffhangers, if the book is good, I will continue the series. No need to ensure it with keeping a story unfinished; I had already bought the next book. That said, I love this book! The MC is changing/growing, scared but not weak, always fighting forward. You can't help but root for Her! Strong story-lines (the reason it only lost half a star) great characters. Going to check out the Last Vampire series to round out the experience of this world.
This spin off from The Last Vampire has taken off well with Vonnie and Guthrie contuining the quest to find Vonnie's son. This book does end with a cliffhanger so just to warn you. Well written with great world building and I love the characters (even the assholes like Albigard!). We get a few cameos of Rans and Zorah but this plot truly does revolve round Vonnie and Guthrie. I'm not sure when these two will get the memo that they are attracted, the to and fro is at times pretty funny. Action and adventure abound and I look forward to book 3.
This is the 2nd part of Leonides' & Vonnie's tale of trying to get her son Jace back after he was kidnapped from a plane in midair. Vonnie is learning that not only does she has magic, but so does her ex-husband as well. Both her and Leonides go to the Fairy kingdom to petition to find out what happened to Jace but really get no answers but end up finding Leonides' friend Algibion who was missing & he told why the kids were being taken.
This was an excellent continuation of Vonnie’s story. Though she receives resolution of the Russian mob’s threats, her son has disappeared. If not the mob than who would benefit? Fortunately Vonnie has not only her vampire boss to help but he has some powerful connections. The story has plenty of action and is well-paced as the mystery intensifies. I look forward to the next installment. Highly recommended for all paranormal and urban fantasy fans.
Enjoyed book2 Definitely need to read book1 first though. It's great that I'd read the last vampire some time ago but the characters are continued over and that theres extra story background info on them.
Felt like Not much happened in book 2 apart from finding an old friend and helping them. In return they were given a tidbit of information on what's happening to the teenage children that are going missing from Earth.
This book advances the story and brings previous characters into play to advance the story to the major twist at the end, Love to see Len and Albigard together soon it would be awesome and Leonides and Vonnie get to the bottom of where her son is.
A innocent women & her son drawn into a world of vampires, magic, & demons! I recommend reading “The Last Vampire “ series first. I had a hard time putting it down! A lot if action & you wonder what is going to happen next! I already pre-ordered the next book in the series.
Lots of questions unanswered makes you keep reading to seek answers.what happened to his wife? Who is/was his wife (was it the demon who tricked him I remember something from Zorah story) where is jace? Does he have magic? Are they druids or witches? Plus is Leo her soulmate?
Fantastic follow on. The characters are excellent and likeable, I really cared what was happening to them and I'm desperate to see what happens next. I particularly like that characters from the Last Vampire appear in this book. Next book please.
I will now that I'm in for a wild ride with Me Steffan's books. I'm sorry to finish reading because every minute is enjoyable. I recommend any of her books!I love to read her books. Thank you so much for writing such great books.😀
Five stars is not enough.Bonnie was devastated when her son was taken.Hopefully the vampire that she is with will be able to get him back.Have to read the next book to find out.
R.A. Steffan weaves amazing worlds. This is the 3rd series I've read and enjoyed. I struggled a bit in the middle but as usual the story quickly picked up pace and now I can't wait for the next one.
couldn't get into this. I even skimmed and it was fkn boring. Why is this labeled a romance? the two main characters barely speak to each other. and the one act was so clinical I couldn't even
this is legit a whole book about mom whining about jace. no thanks
3.5/5 don't have much to say love the peek into Dhuinne through an elemental magic user's lens. I miss Richard? I want to know more about his power? This cat-sidhe keeps appearing!! love that ALBY! gonna continue reading the series but i definitely need this book to amp up the tension.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
These books start off a bit slow. Medium amount of action, but really pump up for the last 3 or 4 chapters. In this book they travel to the Fae Realm which for a human and a vampire is not an easy thing to do. There's a bit of spice. Vonnie's inner dialogue is just as funny as in the first book.
Really good. Totally a cliffhanger ending, but I trust this author. I'm surprised how much I enjoy these characters, especially since one of them is so grouchy and indecipherable.
I normally adore these but in all honesty whilst I think it improved towards the end I was bored. Not enough happened and the relationship didn't progress.
Although this says it is book two there were references to a previous series. To fully understand the story I will have to read the other series before I continue this one.
