The origin of the all-new Omega Rangers begins here in the Power Rangers: Necessary Evil comic book event!

NECESSARY EVIL IS HERE.

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers have survived the shocking events of their war with Lord Drakkon—a twisted alternate-reality version of Tommy Oliver (AKA the Mighty Morphin Green Ranger)—and reality has now been reset…but has the danger truly passed? Why don’t the Rangers recall the incredible events of the landmark Shattered Grid? The answer to this question sets Jason - the Mighty Morphin Red Ranger - on a path that will lead to the formation of the mysterious Omega Rangers and changes everything you thought you knew!

The writing duo of New York Times bestseller Ryan Parrott (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) and the GLAAD Award-nominated Sina Grace (Iceman) join artist Francesco Mortarino (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) to reveal the secret history behind the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers with the introduction of all new characters, new alliances and jaw-dropping answers to some of the biggest questions that fans have always asked!

In the wake of Forever Rangers and Shattered Grid, comes Necessary Evil! Discover the true reason that Jason, Trini, and Zack left the original Power Rangers, and experience the latest evil to plague the team - Lord Zedd!

Go Go Power Rangers is still set in the past, compared to the standard Mighty Morphin' book, but there's a roadmap in place now - these final 12 issues bring everything full circle, as we get the origin of the Omega Rangers, and the changing of the guard over to the new Rangers as well. While Mighty Morphin' looks forward to the future, Go Go is always about filling in the gaps, especially gaps that the original TV show never had the time/sentai footage to fill in.

The dynamic definitely changes a lot here - with Tommy firmly on the team, the newbies on their way in, and the oldies on their way out, it's definitely a time of transition, and Ryan Parrott and new co-writer Sina Grace mine that for all their worth, really digging into the Rangers' interpersonal relationships even as the Omega Rangers take the stage.

Francesco Mortarino steps in to take over art duties, and he's another in a long line of artists that seems to be born to draw Power Rangers. His characters are very human, while his Rangers and Zords are kinetic and agile, full of energy and packing a punch.

Go Go enters a bold new era, but retains everything that made it the great comic that it was before. Onward and upward, as the end rapidly approaches.

This book was still very good, but it wasn’t great like the others have been recently. This one, instead of progressing in the story that I’ve been excited to see unfold, went back to explain a bit of some of the things that have been happening recently. I didn’t hate the Bulk and Skull issue either, but it sort of felt like filler.

Another amazing addition to the series. The series continues to hold up and be consistent.

This was more of a 3.5 rounded up.

This volume was a little confusing and diffficult to get into but by the end of it I was really into it. I actually enjpyed the Bulk and Skull issue a lot. I love when writers flesh out side characters like that. The art wasn't quite as good as previous volumes but it wasn't bad. The writing continues to be on point and the action in this one was really good.

By this point, I'm sure you all know what I'm going to say: "Oh my word, once again the characters are just so compelling and nuanced and the art is incredible and the story was engaging and the use of dialogue was interesting and natural and oh my word the colors were fantastic and Go Go! has slayed me once again"
And you know what? I'm gonna say it again!
This series continues to be compelling, beautiful, and emotionally resonant. I know I can't shut up about the characters, but I'm serious! These characters are incredibly done! They act like real people and they don't just represent stereotypes about nerds, bullies, and jocks. Even the side characters like Bulk and Skull get moments of humanity. The last issue in the volume was a Bulk and Skull centric one, and you know what?! I loved every second of that as I always do! And the way that Jason is not a fearless leader, but he's a kid who's been placed in impossible situations! He's like 16 years old! And he's consistently shown to be just trying his best. He doesn't have all the answers and he's scared out of his mind about what's going on. But he's still willing to take on new challenges and accept the responsibility that's been thrust on him. Ugh, he's such a compelling character, oh my word
And the art in this?! Please and thank you! This is gorgeous! I want to print this out and tape it on my wall! More, please!
There's so much to say, as always, but all in all, this was a lovely read. Heaven knows I needed a chill read after the insanity of Shattered Grid. Glad everything worked out more or less. Somebody get these kids into therapy. But then they'd all probably feel guilty for having to lie to their therapists. Bless them. They mean well, but they are 15.
8/10 "You and I survived all that chaos . . . together. With heart and guts." Bulk and Skull mean so much to me you don't even know. they're just best friends ahhhh

The opening sets the stage for what the new normal of the comics multiverse will be. It's that moment in the alleyway, but it happens differently. It shows that this isn't the timeline we know. We're in for a new adventure. THEN, we jump ahead several months. The Thunder zords have arrived, but this is pre-"Peace Conference". Lord Zedd is here. And the green power coin isn't doing so well.

The Blue Emissary of the Morphin Masters appears to Jason and since I'm aware of what this is leading to, I'm excited. There's also some references to the Dark Rangers, which I know will come into play soon. There's a callback to Billy's Triceratops armor, which is always a fun reference.

The last issue in this volume has a Bulk and Skull focus. These are the stories I enjoy so much because they differ so much from the source tv material. We get to learn more about these characters. They're not just jokes and cliches.

I give this volume a 5/5. I love this ongoing series. This volume is a little more on the uneventful side, but it's establishing the timeline of the current story. This is definitely a lead-in volume. There's a lot of allusions to things we know will happen based on having read the ongoing Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series. I'm excited to see how the Omega Rangers are created.

Ah yes, the seventh and final volume of the Go Go Power Rangers comics. This is a great final installment of the incredible comic as it finds the group is more trouble from Lord Zedd and his group of villains. In the action Jason is whisked away and hears of an alternate reality that never came to pass in his world and what he must eventually become to help stop the evil from rising. I'm going to start the Mighty Morphin Boom Comic collection next and continue on my Power Rangers binge!

After the events of Shattered Grid, Tommy is losing his powers as the green ranger. Jason, Zach, and Trini want to do more for the world, and Jason encounters the blue emissary of the Morphin Masters. Kimberly struggles with Tommy's feelings about losing his powers, and Billy relies on Grace from Promethea to help him with Tommy.

It’s not immediately apparent how this ties in to the other series, but once things click together it’s pretty special. The art by Francesco Mortarino is particularly strong. I won’t be shocked if he’s the next Dan Mora.

There seems to be a massive time jump. Unless there was a spin off volume that covers green ranger and the team getting newer (lame) thunder zords. It is still a nice read but I feel like they don’t have a clear path of where this needs to end up.

More please!

I still love these characters and I like that we're getting to see how Jason, Trini, and Zack get chosen to become the Omega Rangers.

This feels more like a bridge to a larger story. Let’s of pieces being set into place but nothing really happening. Gotta figure out the reading order for this arc

I was mostly confused as I read through this volume because it seemed so disparate from what was previously happening in the series. I think this is the volume that finally catches up and fills in some blanks in the Mighty Morphin line which makes sense given Perrot’s jump to the main line. Overall, I still enjoyed the volume, and I’m looking forward to see how Go-Go can still continue forward as the timelines converge.
