I can't believe it is almost over! I want to know what happens next, but I also do not want it to be over.

I don't know... Maybe it's because the last volume was so intense, but I felt like something was missing in that one, it again feels like a lot of build-up, like the story is being drawn out to grind another volume out of the story without there being a good reason to do so. Also the Shikoutazer is too much for me, it feels like a caricature at this point.

Quick thoughts: Surprisingly feels like filler and loses momentum after last volume's excellent crescendo. I understand the finale needs to be set up in this penultimate volume, and it is, but it's done with a LOT of info-dumping and a handful of new characters introduced just to pad things out and split up the team. Still giving 3 stars (really should be 2.5) for a solid battle and continued good character work underlying everything (with the exception of the one note masochist, who's simply still around to be fetishized more and more excessively).

Tatsumi being able to combat Esdeath head to head showed his immense growth throughout the story.
Minister Honest is much stronger than I anticipated. Leone didn't seem to even stand a chance. I'm not sure if Akame would have had more of a chance due to her combat capabilities learned before having Murasame
The supreme teigu is absolutely incredible. The amount of destruction and chaos is caused without being in the purge mode is wild. Tatsumi charging at it head on is a bold move, but I respect it, you have to.
I hope Leone recovers somehow, I hope that Tatsumi finds a way to defeat it. But also, what about Esdeath? Can he defeat both of them?

WTF
Emotions are running high right now and I may need to stay up to read the finale volume. Genuinely the book is so much more heart shattering than the anime I'm at a loss for words. Leone's death is so much harder to swallow than in the show it's heartbreaking but also makes no sense. She's insanely talented to have made it this far through tougher battles just to be killed by a fat ugly ass grotesque man with a tiny hand gun! Ridiculous.

I'm really liking this last volumes.
I wonder who is stalking Wave and his girlfriend though. I was kind of hoping for a happy ending for them.
A lot of my HEAs have been snatched away, don't take this one too
Tatsumi has become such a badass.
And I really thought the King was secretly an evil little twerp but now I'm feeling sorry for him and hope Honest (who gave him that name 🤦) dies.

I thought the drawings were cool to look at. I didn't like to see my favorite character Leone kick it; that aside, you will notice the themes of corruption, rebellion, and just pure evil in this particular volume. Definitely edgy and violent, but Akame ga Kill is one of my favorite manga series that is high on levels of edginess. Read this in one sitting and want to keep reading more!

And the siege of the capital gets underway, with Minister Honest revealing all (probably?) of this trump cards as the rebel army and Night Raid gets pushed to their limits trying to hold the empire in check.

The end is coming.... either Tatsumi or Esdeath is going to die... I love both of them so no matter which way this goes I'm going to be gutted.

Overall Rating: 8/10 - Very good and well paced story, a bit original. Characters are detailed with their flaws. Their backgrounds and how they became are straight to the point and not overbearing. The psyche of numerous characters are very well displayed. Nothing dragging about this series, and the conclusion was damn near perfect. I recommend this series, although it is already popular with a tv show...

DNF this and the rest of series as I really just do not give a shit about any of the characters. The heavy action in this makes me think I might like the anime more, but I just got lost too often and character designs are so similar I have no idea who is who this far in. Bleh.

This volume was okay. For some reason they added 4 more enemy’s that Night Raid needed to kill. The final battle is getting to a close.
