This series just gets better and better! While dealing with serious issues in a relationship it is also exceedingly humorous with a meddling grandma who is obsessed with matchmaking and sex with an endearing grandpa to rein her in! A great cast of characters with strong friendships and messy love lives will have you entertained for hours! You should absolutely start with the first book in the series to prolong your enjoyment, but it isn't required in order to enjoy this book. Although you will be missing out on some serious grandma antics and backstories of characters if you read the books out of order!

Knee Deep was a fitting wrap-up to the Love in the Suburbs series by D.E. Haggerty. This has been a very enjoyable series about a great group of friends who've created their own caring, crazy, fun-loving, and at times inappropriate, family. It's a bittersweet ending for sure.

Violet and Luke's contentious relationship made for some questions after seeing their reaction to each other in the previous book. Things really come to a head in Knee Deep, as we learn the heartbreaking truth of what happened between them years ago. It was sad to see them both harboring such heartache and anger towards the other. They were so young when things went down between them, but if only they had just taken the time to talk! Thank goodness for meddling friends with the best of intentions.

There was some back and forth between Violet and Luke, which was expected, all things considered. But I'm glad things didn't drag out too long, when it came to them clearing the air. Although what happened years ago wasn't something that could just be glossed over, I liked the way Ms. Haggerty had the characters work through it all. As hard as Violet and Luke fought each other, there was no denying they were meant to be.

As fun as The Love in the Suburbs series was, I appreciated how each book also dealt with some heavier, more emotional subjects. I think Ms. Haggerty did a great job balancing the humor and the seriousness. It's definitely been a entertaining ride with these characters and it's sad to say good-bye!

Knee Deep by DE Haggerty is another of the delightful and funny reads that are the series, Love in the Suburbs. Possibly . . . probably the last in the series. These are laugh-out-loud romances that mirror real life in so many ways. The feud between Luke and Violet has been going on for ten years, and now Violet can no longer bear seeing him and plans to leave her job and F&J and her friends. No matter how many times her friends try to intercede, she is adamant. He broke her heart and she will never get past it. His is just as adamant. She fooled around on him when he was overseas and he will never forgive her. Then comes that explosive happy hour when they run out together and end up having sex up against a wall. They still can't talk, however.

Readers have watched Violet and Luke dance around one another for four books now. It is driving the girls crazy . . . and Grandma is beside herself. She tries yet another setup and it ends in disaster. How was she to know they went to high school together? If this series wasn't funny enough, we add Frankie's grandmother to the fray. She is a seventy-something matchmaker, obsess with sex, hers and everyone else's. This is the first book in which we have heard much from her husband, although he has always been a quiet, steadying force. Shelby is laugh-out-loud funny with her antics and her large, quiet fiancé, Jackson, always trying to make her behave. I will miss this series. It's been one of my favorites. I recommend all of them. I especially recommend Knee Deep.

I didn't realize until I got to the end of Knee Deep that it was the fourth and final book in a series by new to me author D.E. Haggerty. I am sure that the earlier novels would have provided more back story on some of the characters, but I was still able to enjoy this one on its own.
Violet and Luke were high school sweethearts, but several events tore them apart and each one blamed the other for breaking their heart. Now ten years later, they are being thrown together and it's making Violet extremely anxious to the point of thinking she will have to leave her job. Violet's close friends want to support her, but it's hard when they are interconnected in many with both Violet and Luke.
The themes of second chances, love, forgiveness and family are threaded through this charming romance. There is just the right amount of spice along with tenderness. Violet's Grandma lends a lot of humor along the way. She certainly doesn't have a filter on her speech.
The author has made all the characters authentic with their issues and flaws. It is refreshing to see an alpha hero who isn't afraid to show his tender side.
I highly recommend Knee Deep to entertain and uplift you. It's probably best to start with the first book in this Love In the Suburbs series.

This is book four, and the final book in the Love in the Suburbs series. This book is about Violet and Luke. Who we meet in the previous books. When Violet works for Frankie, at her event planning business. When she sees Luke walk in for the first time, both of them despise each other. They have a history. They were high school sweet hearts, but things happen and their relationship ends. But neither can deny it to themselves that they still have feelings for each other. But they need to work out what happen in their past before they can even think about a future.

I absolutely loved this book. It was a wonderful end to this series. I just loved reading Violet and Luke’s story. And I thought it was great that in this book, you got to hear from Luke’s perspective as well as Violets. It gives an entirely different look to the story. And I think Grandma is one of the best characters I’ve ever read in a book. She’s hilarious, and you can tell, she loves her ‘grandkids’ fiercely. And you never know what she’s up to, or what she’s going to say next. I definitely recommend this book and this entire series. All are wonderful stories with amazing characters. I’ll definitely be checking out other books by this author.

To be honest, I did not know what to fully expect from this book as I have never read anything by this author before, but it only took couple of pages to know that I was going to love it.

Knee Deep is the fourth book in the Love in the Suburbs series and while it can be read as a standalone, I wish read the previous books so I would know the backstories of Lucas and Violet's friends and how they fell in love with their significant others. This is something I will definitely rectify in the future!
If you look 'uncomfortable' up in the dictionary, the entry will show a picture of Like's current expression.

Lucas and Violet are childhood sweethearts who have parted not on the best of terms. In fact, they try to avoid each other like the plague, but it is proving quite difficult since they share the same group of friends. The story is written in dual POV so you can see that each feels like they are the ones that have been wronged. I gathered early on that there must have been some kind of major misunderstanding but it has still left me wondering what has happened between Lucas and Violet that would cause them to hate each other so much.
"I wasted ten years of my life without you. I'm not wasting a single day longer."

When all was revealed, my heart broke for Violet. I wish that Lucas had reacted differently and not automatically jumped to conclusions, but I do feel sympathy towards him as well as he was not in a good place at the time and did not think things through properly.
"I had to ask the bartender for change," Grandma continues talking as if I hadn't spoken.
"Change for what?" I'm probably going to regret asking, but I have to know.
"A vibrating penis ring. Never tried one of those."

I absolutely adored Grandma. She was little firecracker, always trying to match-make and trying to talk the girls into getting pregnant. She was a bit whacky but in the entertaining way. Life with her for sure isn't boring!
I also loved Lucas and Violet's group of friends. They were one big supportive bunch that would drop anything they were doing at the drop of a hat if one of their friends needed them. They were also very funny which added bit of a comic relief to the story.

I very much enjoyed reading Knee Deep . It pulled at my heartstrings while at the same time making me laugh at the group's antics. It also isn't very long, so it is perfect for curling up on a couch one of the evenings with a glass of wine. Definitely recommend!

This was the most hilarious, nail biting, blood pressure rising book I've read in awhile. Heck you are guaranteed life from EVERY character from the main Like and Violet and their entourage of friends/family but most important grandma and her friends. I hated to see this book end as it currently is planned to be the last of the series.

Get ready for one heck of a ride.

The fourth book in “Love in the Suburbs” series did not disappoint. Frankie, Brodie, Shelby, Jackson, Bailey, Roman and Frankie’s Grandma are back for another adventure in the suburbia.

This time, Luke is the object of Grandma’s matchmaking efforts. His mysterious connection to Violet, an employee of Frankie and Jackson’s event planning business, has everyone trying to figure out exactly how they know each other because neither one of them is talking. All that is known is they avoid each other like the plague!

With friends that won’t leave well enough alone and Frankie’s Grandma on the loose you feel sorry for Luke and Violet because their secret doesn’t stand a chance of remaining a secret for very much longer.

I wasn’t sure the author could keep the momentum of this series going, but she pulled it off. I have enjoyed each of the books in this series that I have read so far (still need to read book one)🤷🏽‍♀️ Don’t ask!

The dialogue is fresh, engaging and realistic. You can imagine you and friends having similar conversations, however, they might not be as funny.

A recommended series if you enjoy this genre.

Finally, it’s time for the guys to get together and help a brother out. And man does Luke need some help. He and Violet saw each other for the first time in years in Hands Off, and in Knee Deep they are definitely at odds. They go back and forth, but when their history finally comes out, the guys pull together to help Luke who realizes he’s dug himself into a super, extra deep hole he has to dig himself out of. If anyone can help though, the guys and grandpa will get him straightened out, and Violet just won’t know what hit her.

The best thing about this series has been the sense of family that’s developed throughout. Everyone could use a set of grandparents like the ones described in this book...although I can’t imagine bringing my husband home to meet grandma for the first time. All of these people are dysfunctional in their own way, except maybe grandpa, but they all fit together to make a beautiful puzzle. Definitely a series worth reading.

Violet has to quit the one job she loves because of him. Stinking Luke Bauer. He broke her heart into a million pieces years ago, yet he acts as if it’s her fault. As if. He’s ruining her life all over again and she’s putting her foot down. When Frankie and her friends intervene, the horrible truth comes out. Luke looks at her with those puppy-dog eyes and her heart forgets about pain and only wants one thing: him. Violet: I better get my life together and stay away from Luke. Ooh boy, I’m knee-deep in trouble and I can’t help myself.

Knee Deep is book four in this series and I must admit, there’s a fair bit of drama in this one. Both hero/heroine think they’re the hurt party and it leads to all sorts of misunderstandings. I liked the interplay between Luke and Violet. There’s plenty of sexual tension and like I said, drama. Knee Deep is perfect for readers who love angsty romance. Well-written with a fast-moving romance. The emotional factor is strong, so make sure you have some tissues nearby. The ending was, in my opinion, a great way to end the series. A superb romance and one I highly recommend!

This is a cute, fun summer read. The story is all very real and I can see it happening in real life: anger, love, relationships, marriages, friendships, grief, and lots of pain, but it all seems very surface, not very deep or detailed. I have read a few of the other books in this series so I remember the characters and it was fun having them expanded upon. You certainly don't need to read the other books to understand this one. The grandmother cracked me up as she had in the other books, still meddling in everyone's business.
.
Some of the writing/dialog is just a little too over the top and not really necessary, and there are way too many puns that had me rolling my eyes more than once. On one page I counted 7 puns such as “white on rice,” “motion in the ocean,” and “zip my lips.” Other than that, the book was an enjoyable, fluffy quick read.

The last book in the series follows Violet and Luke. They have a past together and hate each other so much that it starts to affect Violet’s job, and their other relationships within their group of friends. Once again, I love the dynamic between all of the characters in this book. Not only the steamy enemies-to-lovers story between Violet and Luke, but also the friendships between the other ladies, the other guys, and Grandma!

The only thing I didn’t love was hearing that this was the last book in the series. I could have followed their crazy lives for a lot longer!

It took me a while to warm to Violet and Luke but once I did I loved them. 10 years previously they had inadvertently hurt each other, so when their paths crossed again they were both keen on avoiding each other. However, once their mutual friends and a meddling grandmother get involved in trying to point out how right they are together, plus reigniting the hot chemistry between them this story develops nicely. Would definitely recommend. Read an ARC for an honest review.

I enjoyed finally getting the back story to Violet and Luke’s relationship. I really like that the author keeps us up on previous couples in the series throughout the book. I liked that the author added some perspective from Luke’s point of view. The way the book is written sometimes leaves you confused as to who is being directly quoted, though. Other than that, It was a good book:)

I was given a free copy of this book to review. The opinion is strictly my own:)

Knee Deep is the fourth book and final installment in the Love in the Suburbs series, though D.E. Haggerty hints that it might not be the end of it. This book focuses on Violet Scott and Luke Bauer, who have gone through a painful breakup, and what happens between the two of them when they cross paths a number of years later. Even though they still have feelings for each other, Violet and Luke are resistant to act on them because of the heartbreak and betrayal each experienced after the end of their relationship. However, one night they give in to their mutual attraction and have sexual relations. Not long afterward, Violet finds out she is pregnant. How does this affect their budding but rocky entanglement? Can they regain broken trust and be in a long term committed romantic relationship?

D.E. Haggerty once again adds another entertaining installment to this appealing series. The story is told in the first person giving readers a firsthand look into the innermost thoughts of Violet and Luke as they make decisions about their involvement with each other. Grandma is a quirky character who does not shy away from talking about sex. All of the characters, whether family or friends, are supportive of one another, and individuals are imbued with their own unique personality traits that lead to both serious and humorous interactions. Chapter headings are well thought out and tie in wonderfully with the text. There is enough backstory that Knee Deep can be read as a stand-alone. However, readers who want more details about the other couples in this story and their relationship journeys will need to read the previous books.

I have loved this series since the very first book and I’m a bit sad that it’s over. Luke was one of those characters that I was almost instantly intrigued by when he first showed up in Shelby’s book, so I was really happy he got his own!
This is a story about how a lack of trust or even a misunderstanding can ruin a relationship. Luke and Violet have a complicated history. Why complicated? Because one of them was told a lie and never gave the other an opportunity to set them straight.
I loved this book and both Luke and Violet. I can’t leave out Grandma either! She is definitely a menace, but oh what fun!!

Still hilarious

This last installment is still hilarious, Grandma and Shelby still both a riot. Violet and Luke's story not unique but still fun to read. The more you hate, the more you love. The person you love the most will cause you the most pain but if you look past that its was all to strengthen your relationship later on lead you to a much better place. This was how their relationship came about, out of a stupid misunderstanding that brought 10 years of pain for both of them. Love the lessons and the laugher in the entire series.

This was my first time reading anything from D.E. Haggerty and I was excited to check out her style! Knee Deep was the fourth book in her Love In The Suburbs Series. It can be read as a stand-alone because I jumped in and wasn’t lost at all. I can tell several of the characters probably had books but Dena did a great job of explaining everything! Knee Deep was humorous, sexy, and oh so heartbreaking!

Violet had finally started getting her life back together and just when she thought she had figured it out, it all came crashing back down. Luke, her ex, was back in town... He had broken her heart years ago and left her to pick up the pieces. Would the town big enough for the both of them?

Oh my heart! So much humor but make sure you have some tissues handy! Their journey broke my heart but it was certainly put back together!! And Grandma... I ❤️ her and her meddling ways!!

Violet and Luke second chance story.

I love this Author! And I love this book. Now, I'll tell you why you'll love it too!

"Knee Deep" is the last book in Love in the Suburbs series, and I already miss it!

Violet and Luke, we met them in At Arm's length, and I didn't guess they knew each other and had a past! And after ten years they meet again.

Violet is a strong, sassy and witty girl, as her girlfriends Frankie, Shelby and Bailey. She had drama in her past, and you would not say that Luke caused it!

Sweet, friendly, hot Luke at first was angry with Violet because he thought she cheated on him.

So Violet hates him, Luke hates her, but deep inside they love each other! This story teaches a great truth: never end a relationship without knowing all the facts, without hearing the other party. But this happens in life, mostly if you're young.

It is Violet and Luke's book, with their banter and sexy escapades, but it's also the book with the incredible Grandma and the celebration of friendship as another kind of love!

***THIS BOOK WAS PROVIDED TO NERD GIRL IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW***

Knee Deep by D. E. Haggerty is the fourth entry in the Love In The Suburbs Series. Although this book continues the stories, lives and loves of a small group of people, this book can be read as a stand-alone.

This story gives the much anticipated back story of Violet and Luke, eventually revealing the secrets of their past, and source of their animosity. But as happens in the best relationships, the animosity between Violet and Luke begins turning to attraction, which Violet finds even more distracting.

I love the stories this author weaves. Friendships, humor, and real life emotions are always present. A highly recommended book, and make sure you add her to your watch lists!! 4 stars.

Knee Deep is the fourth and final book in the ‘Love in the Suburbs’ series, and tells the story of Violet and Luke, former high-school sweethearts, brought into each other’s orbit again by mutual friends. They definitely have unfinished business!
DE Haggerty has been hinting at their secret since Grandma unsuccessfully tried to pair Luke off with Shelby in the second book, though they did remain friends. Violet started working for Frankie and Jackson at F&J’s Events in the third book, and sparks flew whenever she and Luke came into contact with each other.
Obviously, there was no way they could keep their past a secret for very long with Grandma and the rest of the gang nagging away at them. Lack of communication and jumping to conclusions are behind the bad feeling that exists between Luke and Violet. Thrown together at various parties and weddings, they have to learn to trust one another again, as the attraction between them is as strong as ever.
Right from About Face (the first book in the series), Grandma has stolen the show. I’ve said it before, but she is hilarious on the page, but would be a nightmare in real life as she does not respect anyone’s boundaries. She means well, but just can’t keep her nose out of everyone’s business as she goes about her matchmaking.
Told alternately from the points of view of Violet and Luke, we get both sides of the story. There is not much in the way of plot, but with the weddings of both Shelby and Jackson, and Bailey and Roman, and the associated fuss of the hen (bachelorette) parties, the story moves towards a satisfying conclusion.
As you would expect with a group of young people who spend a lot of time together, there is a lot of banter; the slang is very American and I didn’t always ‘get’ it, but it didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. This series has definitely run its course. It is quite difficult to sustain the reader’s interest, as there tends to be a lot of repetition, but well-drawn, likeable characters go a long way to making up for that.
Thanks to DE Haggerty for a copy that I review as a member of Rosie’s Book Review Team #RBRT

Knee Deep is the fourth in the "Love in the Suburbs" series. I will begin by stating that I read this as a standalone. Seeing as I have not read the first three, I believe it might have negatively impacted my opinion. Keep this in mind when you read my review.

This book is earning three-stars due to the fact that I did, in fact, like it. I liked the easy way Haggerty writes the novel. It flows and I very much enjoyed her dialogue. The "banter" and quick-witted talking was fun to read. I like the friendship between the women in the novel -- so much that I believe if I had started from the beginning of the series, I might have had a different overall grade for this book. I liked the fairly fast-paced storytelling and appreciated that it kept me turning the pages.

I didn't like a couple of smallish things -- but they bothered me enough that I cannot go up. I do wonder if it (see start of review) has to do with the fact that I am not emotionally involved in this series. One smallish thing, for example, is the fact that I really struggled with the cause of Luke and Violet's separation 10 years prior (I dislike giving spoilers in my reviews, so I won't detail it; but suffice it to say that I really found it unrealistic). Another example is that I didn't really like the reason that these "enemies" become "lovers" again / that there was a second chance romance (no spoilers allowed in my reviews 🙂 ). I will also say that I struggled with some of the chapters from Luke's point of view as I really felt uncomfortable. But that might be as a result of me not really liking the reason they were no longer together.

This is the last book in the Love in the Sububurbs series and this makes me sad. This group of women have become friends and so much more. Heck, even their guys are good friends. This book (and series) is filled with so many quick quips and one-liners that I was in stitches for nearly the whole book.

This book focuses on Violet and Luke. They have known each other since high school but lost touch after a certain incident that did not end well. But they still have chemistry and a spark between them that lights up the pages with their banter and their love for one another...once they stop being obstinate and move past the event in the past.

I love the camaraderie between all of the characters and even Grandma who is so focused on having great grandchildren, even though Frankie is her only biological grandchild. The rest have been adopted because of their relationship with Frankie.  At least there is no one left for her to find a beau for which is a good thing since she never does well at that endeavor.

I don't want to spoil the story, so just know that if you are looking for a good laugh then this is a series you definitely need to read. This book may be a standalone book, but you will really get a feel for all of the characters by starting at the beginning.  You will not be disappointed!

We give this book 5 paws up and wish there were more to come....maybe a book a few years down the road and we can see what the gang is up to and if anyone has had any children for Grandma.

Knee Deep is D. E. Haggerty newest release and what a great story it is. It is book 4 in the Love in the Suburbs series and can be read as standalone as each book is a different couple and different storyline, even though we do get to see some of the previous favorites.

As this was my first book by D. E. Haggerty, I really had no idea what I was getting into. I read the synopsis and it drew me in because of the second chance genre. And well I was surprising swept away with Violet and Luke s story.

I have to say though my absolute favorite part of this story is when grandma makes her appearance through the story. OMG that women is awesome and I wish she was my grandma!!!!

Because this story is a second chance we get the back story of Violet and Luke along with their current state of minds and situations. A bonus is that even though the majority of the story is Violets' point of view we do get a few chapters from Luke's point of view, along with their own Secret Thought as the time.

Violet and Luke were high school sweethearts and sometime after graduation. But when a situation happens and Luke and Violet split up, it takes years for Violet to pick herself up and move on. But just when things just start to look better in walks none other than Luke into her job and she discovers that he is actually friends with her newest group of friends too. From here we are taken on an emotional rollercoaster and long with a few laugh out loud moments to the happy ever ending of the story.

Wonderfully written story. I can't wait to dive into the previous stories and for what comes next for this small town.

I have really enjoyed this series of books and I am sad that this is the last one unless D. E. Haggerty can be inspired to run with it a little longer.
Violet was an events planner working for her best friend Frankie at F & J Events.
Frankie, Bailey, Shelby and Violet were all best friends, all of them except Violet were loved up with their partners but Violet's journey to love had ended in disaster leaving her a heartbroken, emotional wreck, she was never going to give her heart away again .....until Luke, her ex jumps back into her life.
Unfortunately she can't get away from Luke, he is also friends with her friends and their partners, she had to leave or face hi daily.
This story follows the love hate relationship between Violet and Luke and Luke's determination to win her back, it highlights the need for trust and communication in any relationship.
All this is played out with the interference but also complete support and loyalty of her friends and the hilarious interference of Frankie's sex mad grandmother who had adopted all of them and having done the matchmaking was now on a crusade to get them all pregnant.
This is a love story laced with humorous banter, a lovely feelgood factor.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

What a fun read. D.E. Haggerty is a new to me author and I know this is the fourth book in a series, however, it can easily be read as a standalone. However, I definitely want to go back and read the previous books to learn more about the rest of the group.

Violet and Luke have a history. Things ended in a horrible way for them, now ten years later and they have mutual friends, they see each other from time to time, but can they both forgive each other for what happened in the past?

I loved Violet and Luke’s relationship from the start. They had so much chemistry, even when they were hating each other. Of course, that chemistry only grew as the story and their relationship progressed. What happened in their past was heartbreaking and even their friends didn’t know the full truth of what really happened between them.

I loved the entire group of friends, they were all so different and hilarious and really have each other’s backs. Plus, Grandma. How can you not love her?! She was hilarious and I loved her meddling ways.

Knee Deep was the perfect mix of laughs, heat, second chances and love. If you’re looking for a second chance romcom this one is a MUST READ!

Round 4, and we have a winner

It's sweet, it's funny (though if you aren't into somewhat embarrassing TMI you might not think so). Adorably angsty/angry former lovers become frenemies and then more... The misunderstanding between them are sad, but surmountable - once they calm down enough to LISTEN. D.E. Haggerty scores another win for her Love in the Suburbs series. This is a voluntary Arc review.
